Josh is an AMAZING trainer and I am so thankful to have found him! Our dog Brody has had aggression issues towards other dogs. Brody is 11 years old so I was worried that he would be classified under the "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" thing. But Josh took him in for 2 weeks and within just a few days, Brody was already interacting with other dogs in a friendly matter! During the first week, Brody stayed at Josh's and we did not see him. This was so hard because we missed our dog, but thankful Josh updates his Facebook Good Doggy page every day with new photos of the dogs so we can see what they have been working on each day! It would be the highlight of my day to see new photos (and my kids loved checking to see if there's any new photos!) During week two, my family would come over and go on walks with Brody and Josh so we could learn how to walk and train him correctly. It was amazing to see Brody walking correctly--right next to us instead of constantly pulling us along! I am so glad that we found Good Doggy and we are recommending Josh to everyone! read more

I let Josh Johnston watch my dog and he didn't keep my dog safe and that included keeping her safe from other dogs fighting her . my dog has bite marks on her neck and deep scratches on her tummy. I had used Good Doggy a few times over the years to care for my dog. The last and final time that I took my dog, I had measured out her dog food into 2 gallon sized Ziploc bags and provided the scoop to use. I wrote on the bags that she was to get 1 scoop of food twice a day. I also verbally told this to him as well. When I picked her up, there should have only been 2 scoops left in 1 bag because that is how much extra food I provided when I measured it out. Instead, I was handed back 1 completely full Ziploc back AND some remaining food in the 1st bag! That meant she was fed LESS THAN HALF of the food she was supposed to be fed! I have not gone back and will never go back to this service. If they can't even provide a scoop of food twice a day, I have to warn people to not use them. Also, please know that if there are too many dogs to be boarded at Josh's house, they are actually sent to Josh's parents' home to be boarded. They will NOT stay with Good Doggy or Josh and you will NOT be told either in advance or during the dog's stay that the dog is not with Josh/Good Doggy. I have never met his parents nor did I ever authorize for someone else to watch my dog but she was sent to their home to stay. I was able to tell from the photos posted that my dog was not in Josh's house and it was also confirmed with another former client of his that this is his standard practice. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company to anyone. read more

The best doggy daycare in Phoenix, with out a doubt. We drive from south Scottsdale just so our pup gets the best care, and treatment. Josh has been amazing with our enormous and energetic furbaby. We have used his services for both boarding and training, and both have been way above our expectations. Unlike most boarding places, he gives your pup so much love and attention, takes them on walks, gives them tons of play time, and heck after our first trip, our dog, gunner, came back better trained and behaved than when we left him! No dog is too small, too big, too rambunctious, or too aggressive. Josh truly understands these furry beasts and finds the perfect balance of what they need. We love, love, love Good Doggy! Josh and his wife take great care of my two dogs, Sasha and Max. I board the dogs at his house, since my trips tend to be longer, but I would not hesitate to have Josh come to our house as well. They are very trustworthy and I feel confident leaving my dogs with them - I don't have to worry about them getting their food, medicine or special treats, the way I used to when I boarded the dogs at a facility. Sasha and Max even start getting excited and barking when we get within a couple of blocks of Josh's house - they run right up to his door and are ready to play! Good doggy is great! Both Josh and Kim are very knowledgeable about dog training and care. They have watched my dog on multiple occassions and I have always been extremely impressed with the level of professionalism and attention paid to my dog. All it takes is a few minutes of observation to see that they really do care about the well being of any animal in their care. We wholeheartedly recommend Josh and Kim as doggy sitters. I had to make quite a few trips to California last year, sometimes away for 3 weeks at a time. I was desperate to find someone I trusted to take care of and board Moppet and Bella. Good Doggy was the answer! Good Doggy is the best and ONLY place I will allow my dog to go while I am away from home for a period of time. My dog Cash has awful allergies, including being allergic to himself. So I am extremely cautious on where I take him, because I need to trust that the business I leave him with will give him his medicine on time, and feed him the correct amount of specialty diet that he is on. Not only does my dog have the allergies, but he also has always been semi aggressive towards other dogs. Josh and Kim told me he would be no problem to take on, and not that I didn't believe them, but I was very intrigued on how they would calm him down, especially because he is shy with new people. The moment Cash and I walked into Josh and Kim's home, he ran up to their dog Beau (Who mind you is probably the sweetest, best trained dog out there), and growled at him. Josh quickly got Cash's attention by saying his name and after that there has never been an issue when Cash goes to their house, with ANY of their dogs that they are watching over the course of time that Cash is there. I love the fact that while I am gone I get cute pictures of Cash either playing with other dogs, or with Josh or Kim hugging him. I feel more than comfortable leaving Cash in their hands. Not only are they wonderful pet sitters/trainers, but they have GREAT prices. If you want somewhere that you can take your dog and never have to worry about exceptional care given to him/her at a great price, then you have no need to look any further. This is our first and definitely not the last time we will use Good Doggy. We usually recruit a family member to watch our dog and each time we have we have come home to a sad depressed doggy. This time was a whole other story. We had pictures of Layla from every visit that was done and she was HAPPY when we came home. Best dog service in town! They take excellent care of all your animals! Josh is the best dog trainer I know, and that is coming from someone who was raised in a family that trained assistance dogs! What amazes me most is Good Doggy's love of all animals, including "aggressive" breeds. They do not fear any stereotypes of any breed, and love the challenge of training aggression out of any dog. My girlfriend and I have worked in the veterinary field for a combined total of 25 years and have come across a lot of frothy, flakey and over priced pet sitters. This is the first time we have ever allowed someone to stay in our home to watch our 3 dogs because they require a lot of attention. Josh and Kim did fabulous... very professional from the beginning. We had this review posted in January 2014, somehow it was taken off of Good Doggy's review list, but it certainly is something that every pet owner should be aware of.... We signed up for 6 hours of pet sitting care....but received 2 hours and 16 minutes of care (in total) for our pet over the course of 6 days. We agreed on a total of 12 @ 30 minute visits (all in accordance to Josh's verbal confirmation and his website). Good Doggy also offers 15 minute visits and longer visits. Each week we get a report of who has accessed our home and for how long. Much to our surprise, our security log shows an average visit time of 12 minutes. The longest visit was 23 minutes. With only a handful of the visits even close to our pets feeding time schedule. Two times are even as short as 5 minutes (one is 7 minutes).... Pretty fast for someone who does not live at the house to get in, measure out the food, take away the old dishes and put out new ones, refill the water, open the front blinds, re-secure the pet gate, re-set the alarm and get out. We contacted Josh to see what happened and how we can remedy this for next time.... First he denied the times were correct.... Next he said that because our pet was taken care of and that he showed up and she is fine, that he thinks they deserve the 2nd half of their bill....We asked if it is fair to be charged for 6 hours of service but receive 2 hours and 16 minutes total over 6 days? He never answered that question. Finally he said that it "clearly states on his website that all visit times are approximate".... (which as of the time of this review we still can't find even the word 'approximate' anywhere on his website). He said that we need to remember that he has a lot of cost and travel time...well, in our interview he told us how close they live to our house and how easy it was to get here. Never once was travel time and his cost mentioned as being taken off of our 30 minute schedule. We explained that we received 1/3 of the time we agreed to both verbally and contractually and per his website. Never before from any of our sitters or caretakers have we ever had to put 1/2 down. So it was odd to us that he asked us to leave a check for him at the house. But we did. We paid 50% of our bill. We paid for 1/2 of the bill (not 1/3, which is what we received) it doesn't seem fair to have to pay for the other 1/2. Moral of the story.....if you choose to hire Josh and/or Kim of Good Doggy, monitor your security for time. We also wouldn't recommend giving half down unless it doesn't bother you that your pets only visitor thinks that 2 hours (and 16 minutes) over the course of 6 days is sufficient attention. After all, they can't talk to let you know just how lonely they were while you were away. read more

We have been bringing our beloved Labradoodle Cooper to Good Doggy since he was a pup, it was like leaving my child the first time, I was assured that he was in good hands. First of all, I have never, ever left my dog with anyone but family-ever. I found myself in a situation of needing a dog sitter for several days immediately. After contacting several recommended boarding kennels, I got the same answer---oh,we won't take pit bulls. I found Josh's ad, crossed my fingers, and gave him a call. After speaking with him, he called me back and said he had a sitter for me. Hmmm, a stranger in my home taking care of my baby. I was impressed that he wanted to meet me, my dog, and check my home before committing. We were both on our best behavior and passed inspection. She followed her routine, got dinner and meds on time, and probably crowded her in bed. I swear my house was cleaner than when I left. When I returned she had had a bath and seemed a little disappointed it was me and not Jill. I have already recommended Josh and Good Doggy to my friends that love their blockheads too! read more

Josh and Kim are terrific. They are always accommodating, and take very good care of our Bull Mastiff Percy and our cat Meme. Josh also did some training with Percy when I first got him. He was 5 years old and had some bad habits, but Josh helped work that out for me, showing me how to handle it. They are the best! read more
