They were amazing with our puppy Leo. Before taking him to training he would struggle to walk even ten minutes without getting zoomies and running circles around us which was quickly becoming dangerous since our dog is so large. Now he has incredible leash manners and we are both enjoying long walks. Lauren has been great at answering our questions and we can tell Leo loves her. We enjoyed seeing all of the enrichment, training and confidence building activities they were doing with him on their instagram as well. Ten minutes into our first training session after they had our boys for a week I looked at my husband and said "we should have done this a long time ago." The thought of taking our big dogs into public places triggered my anxiety (followed by wine drinking... so not ALL bad I guess lol). For some context, we have one Pit/Boxer and a Ridgeback mix who were mild nightmares on walks, (especially if there were other dogs!), complete nightmares in public places, pretty well behaved at home, the ridgeback has anxiety with new people so bringing people into the house was an issue, but they had gotten into a few fights and the last one that ended up in a midnight urgent care was the final straw. They're older boys, 8 and 7, so for us progress and improvement was what we were looking for. Not perfection from the second they came back from training. You know the saying. :) Well it turns out these old dogs like learning new tricks... or at least they tolerate it! A few days after the 4 week training completed I took our biggest problem child to Home Depot and I got stopped at least 5 times by people telling me what an amazingly "good boy" I had there. It sounds stupid, but I got misty. We are excited for the weather to break for hikes, patio coffee, and to live our lives with them in tow. There are some situations that Andrew and his team can not replicate, like the territorial behavior and the fights. But, people coming into our house is something that we have the tools for now. We now have dogs who we can communicate with and we need to make those events more of a consistent, normal thing and PRACTICE it, like anything we learn to do well in life. So it isn't perfect, which would be impossible to expect. If you're looking for magic you won't find that anywhere. We and our boys have to work to ensure the changes progress, become more consistent, and eventually second nature. I'm excited to see how much further they can go with just with how far they've come. Our two, 2 year old Labrador Retrievers, recently completed the 2 week basic obedience course. They had typical dog misbehaviors, including but not really limited to rushing to greet people, crowding us in the kitchen, barking incessantly, general annoyance type stuff :/ They returned to us with such a huge improvement that we are absolute fans of this place. Lauren worked with us afterwards, coming to the house to oversee our handling and has been texting to check in as well as answer any questions we have. If you are looking for a top notch trainer-dedicated and professional- than these are your people. I brought Mavis- my shepherd/staffy mix- when she was 8 months old because she was severely reactive. We would try to go on walks but it was impossible because of her pulling, snarling, heckles rising, barking & lunging and other dogs. Before coming to DDT I tried to do classes elsewhere but she barked non stop and disrupted everyone else, then I tried one on one lessons and those didn't go anywhere- she would not stop lunging and barking at other dogs. We brought Mavis to DDT and I met with Lauren. She told me boarding Mavis would help her. Originally we thought she'd stay for 3 weeks but she needed to stay a little longer for 4. During Mavis's stay I came to visit at specific times to learn how to continue her training at home. Then they had me bring my kids to teach them too. We utilize a prong collar but in the beginning she was so reactive that the e-collar was a better option. They showed us the proper way to train with both of them. In the beginning I was very nervous about using either of them but honestly- after seeing how they are used my nervousness was put to rest. After Mavis came home Lauren came to my house several times to help us both adjust. And I am so thankful to say that she has acclimated to our home beautifully. Her training continues with me even now over a year later- but that's just the kind of dog Mavis is. She can pass by other dogs without barking, she sits, lays down, stays on her place, heels, and doesn't run out the front door. Our walks are a pleasure. I still use the prong collar and periodically mavis needs the e-collar but overall she has matured very nicely. Whenever I have questions DDT is a text away. Whenever I need to board Mavis I can leave her with them for some training brush ups. She loves them, and honestly they feel like an extended family. Recently we had 2 Malinois attack mavis on a walk. She wasn't hurt, luckily- but I immediately texted DDT and by the next day they worked with me to make sure she didn't regress into reactivity. All in all if you have a reactive dog bring them here. I couldn't recommend them more. It's worth EVERY penny. read more

We adopted a large breed dog from Maricopa County, so we had no history on him. Even though he was super cuddly and loving, he was also a rambunctious 110# untrained puppy Houdini! He busted through our RV gate, pushed out screens to jump out windows, went totally bonkers when he saw other dogs, and could jump 6 feet in the air trying to see what's going on over the other side of the fence! He played rough, jumped on us all the time, counter surfed, and had extreme separation anxiety. We hired a trainer who came to the house and gave us exercises, but he was too smart, too bored and too out of control. After only 3 months, we were on our last nerve and ready to send him to the circus! Instead, we opted for doggie boarding school - Destination Dog Training to the rescue! They asked and answered a lot of questions in our initial phone call. At our first meet n greet, we met Lauren, who became our trainer. She sat with us for an hour and gathered lots of info about "Houdini," aka Teddy Bear, as well as our goals and expectations. When we left our fur baby there, we were tearful, yet excited for the structure and calmness we knew would come with proper training. Over the course of 4 weeks, Teddy learned so much! We went there for education and training; they brought him for home visits to utilize his newly acquired skills in his environment. They had outings, shared lots of photos of his experiences, and allowed us to call/text as often as we wanted to just check in. When he came home for good, Lauren walked with us in the neighborhood to show us how to work with him when old triggers appear. Plus, we had continuing ed after 'graduation.' I really cannot brag enough about DDT (obviously). Our boy is happy and waaaay less anxious. Our household is tranquil, and we are falling more and more in love with Teddy every day! There is not enough time or space to write all of the reasons why I think Andrew and DDT are the best dog trainers in the Valley. I had a 5 month old Newfypoo that I was convinced was the worst puppy in the entire world. He was completely out of control, barking, jumping, biting at me and my husband constantly and nothing we did seemed to work. I found out about Andrew from a neighbor and got my pup scheduled for a 3 week board and train. I was a little skeptical that this monster of a puppy could be transformed into a canine good citizen in just 3 weeks but we gave it a shot. On our first visit after only 1 week I couldn't believe the difference. He was calmer and listened to commands already. On the second visit he was even better. By the time we got him back in 3 weeks he was such a joy to have in our home. Being a puppy we still have a lot of work to do but I feel like I have the knowledge and tools to continue his training. It's been 3 1/2 months since we got him back and he's still doing great. Andrew is always available to answer questions and give advice.
