The ambiance is chic and large, workers are friendly, and the pastries are surprisingly on the cheaper end for a fancy Chicago bakery. I got the sweet and savory scones and the kouign amann. The earl grey flavor in the sweet scone really shone through! The herb & cheese scone had a good flavor as well. However, both scones were a tad dry. The kouign amann had a nice caramelization and chew to it. Not the best baked goods in the city but pretty good & decently priced!
There is so much beauty, architecture, history, plenty of space, high ceilings, exposed brick areas, not only a café, but also a place for lunch and other food items. There are charging stations at the bar at the back where they serve food. They have free bathrooms. The space is gigantic. The atmosphere here is very soothing and characteristic.
Went to Good Ambler for coffee on Friday afternoon and Ember convinced us to come back in the morning for their pasties during our weekend stay in Chicago. So we did! I chose the spinach-artichoke pastry and hubs had the ham & cheese croissant. Both items were delicious savory pastries with the flakiest crusts. Ember suggested the strawberry pastry for a sweet bite. Glad we listened. We split the soft fluffy pastry with stewed strawberries and a dollop of cream cheese. Yum!
A cool workspace/coffee shop. While it is a large space, I would recommend getting in early as seats and tables fill quickly. They only allot two hours of wifi usage, so plan accordingly. I ordered the matcha latte and coffee cake while working remotely, for two hours. Both were good but not amazing. Good Ambler is cool spot to take visitors for a quick coffee and work session.
Had wanted to try this place forever and finally went! The almond scone was TO DIE FOR and huge! I had a snack for 2 additional days!! Also did the hibiscus tea which was a nice refresher. Service was fast and tons of seating. Would be great to be there to read a book or work.
Wonderful presentation as always and the taste matches the appearance. Beautiful decor and comfortable seating. Located conveniently with plenty of parking nearby. Service was excellent.
The overall experience was not what I expected of the highly praised Good Ambler. The ordering process felt chaotic and confusing, with no clear flow to how things are set up after you order. They do not ask for names and there was about 20 people standing there waiting for the drink order to be called and many confusing their drink for someone else's. Very chaotic and easily fixable. Seating is very limited, which makes it tough to find a spot if you actually want to enjoy your coffee or pastry there. The area is large but majority of the seating will be taken early so plan ahead. It also took much longer than expected for our order to be ready, granted it was busy. That said, the blueberry muffin was moist and delicious, and the coffees are authentic and well-made -- no shortcuts there. If you're willing to deal with the hassle, the food itself is good, but the atmosphere and execution really need improvement. Be more efficient but you got the business so I guess you do not need to improve?

Good Ambler today disappointed me. Staff member I interacted with was extremely unfriendly. I went up to order twice while I was there, and the same female took care of me. She was rude and negative both times. Other things to note: Your WiFi times out in 90 minutes, and you can only get certain pastries warmed up. They also told us we needed to leave our seats by 11:00am for an unknown reason. My iced lavender latte was very good, and so was the croissant. My friend did not enjoy the yogurt bowl. Pretty space but, needs more outlets. Good luck finding a table past 9:30.

Their matcha latte comes unsweetened and I thought it was perfect. The quiche had a nice consistency though I thought it could've been served a bit warmer. The table was a bit wobbly so it felt unstable while eating the quiche, but otherwise I enjoyed the environment.
Seasonal lattes are intriguing. I got the toasted marshmallow latte, which was just fine. Would have wanted a much stronger toasted smoky flavor if it truly is toasted marshmallow and ultimately just tasted like a really sweet latte. 3/5 stars for this drink. The pastries are beautiful to look at for sure. We got the banana danish, which was good. 4/5 stars.
Lily took care of us and gave us a slew of recommendations. I had the Chai and my Partner had the London Fog (earl gray tea with milk) and a chocolate chip cookie and a cold brew black. Overall great service, awesome vibe for a hangout date or a WFH situation. Good music, lots of seating--will be back.
I think I might be obsessed with Chicago coffee shops because I have yet to be disappointed. Take this as a sign to not go to all the TikTok popular spots cause the lines are insane but try something right down the street. The service was so fast and they were all super sweet. The cruffin was so unique (the only reason I tried it) and it was amazing. The coffee was also amazing; as someone who finally has their coffee order down! The overall ambiance is cutesy coffeeshop/wfh spot. Definitely recommend as a place to skip the other crazy lines. Will be back! read more
DRINKS I tried their seasonal raspberry latte, iced. It wasn't too sweet and remained cold for 3+ hours as I worked at the cafe. FOOD A wide variety of pastries and sandwiches are available for purchase. Albeit pricy, I enjoyed the chocolate croissant I had-- flaky with a punchy chocolate center. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly! I ordered a croissant but believe someone took it by accident, and they happily gave me another one-- no questions asked. AMBIANCE Spacious seating is available inside the store. It is a popular spot for visitors to work/study or have meetings. That being said, Tuesdays through Thursdays until 1pm, they limit seating to half of the store, leaving it largely a grab-and-go spot. Complimentary wi-fi is available, though capped at 90 minutes. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity. read more

Beautiful ambiance, service was quick and friendly, even on a busy Friday morning. One of the workers was happy to help when customers appeared undecided. She recommended one of the scones for a savory option and I was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious. I got that along with a matcha and a double chocolate croissant. The reason I knocked off two stars is because charging $1 per syrup shot & milk modification seems a little excessive, especially when my matcha tasted like nothing. I added vanilla, lavender, and oat milk ($3 additional for all) and it literally tasted like basic matcha. Can't be great at pastries and lackluster with drinks, it almost wouldn't be worth a second visit for this reason alone. Still, I love the pastries! read more

The iced london fog tea was actually better than I expected and a nice change from coffee. It was smooth and not too sweet. The service was quick and nice enough - they do expect you to know what you want and with the array of deliciously modeled baked goods (at high price points), it's hard to decide quickly which is why I ended up skipping out on them. This cafe is well known as a wfh spot but I didn't find it to be ideal for that. There are only a few tables that get taken up quickly so chances of finding one are slim. Plus they are close together along the wall so if you need to hop on any call or do some confidential work, it's more difficult. There are sofas in the middle for people to hang out and honestly I prefer this cafe more for that purpose. They're comfy and you're more likely to find space here. Overall a good cafe with nice looking pastries and drinks. Imo the atmosphere is better in pictures though, i was underwhelmed by the vibes and i think a part of that is the confusion of the overall layout and order process. I also don't think it's as big as people claim it to be, again probably because of the lack of seating and seemingly inefficient use of the space. There's better cafes in chicago read more
It was okay. The restaurant itself is beautiful; it seems like they must do events because it's a lovely space for something from casual to classy, and especially romantic. The chai I had was fine but nothing out of the ordinary; however, I got a rosemary coffee for my partner and he reported it was good; that was one of those that made me wish I drank coffee. I also got a kouign amann to share and a green bean casserole danish because I love a savory pastry, and especially one out of the ordinary. It's not a bad place as far as pastries and drinks go, and they do have some interesting specials which I really appreciate (they had a tea that I'd like to have tried but they were out). There's almost no parking though and I'm never in the Fulton Market district so it's not a place I would be near by happenstance, but I am very happy I finally had a chance to stop here. read more

Delicious and unique. Every pastry here is perfection. From simple banana bread to kouign-amann (pronounced "queen-a-mahn," you definitely don't want pronunciation standing between you and bliss); I've yet to try a sweet or savory pastry here I don't stop to savor without distraction. The coffee is well considered too. Beans are from Hexe Coffee Co, usually medium roast. No pour-over, but their baristas usually pull a nice latte. Along with fun seasonal drinks. They offer a small menu of heartier breakfast and lunch items. Ask what the soup of the day is! Today's roasted red pepper is just right! This is a great spot for quick meetings over coffee. They have low and high seating , comfy and tables and chairs. Gorgeous mod glass chandeliers, smooth coffee house pop, and an open kitchen where you can view and smell pastry chefs working on lucious items for catering and cafe. This spot is on the first floor of the Mondelez building, don't miss it! read more

About a 2-2.5: Good Ambler is a coffee shop that offers various beverages and pastries, in addition to seasonal specials. We came here to get a caffeine fix, trying out: +a Kouign Amann +a Sweet Potato danish +a latte with oat milk +a seasonal cider The seasonal sweet potato pastry was pretty delicious, but I do wish that they did warm up the pastries that were supposed to be served as such. The drinks were pretty well made, and I really enjoyed their seasonal cider. Unfortunately, the box of pastries that had to go, there seemed to have been a lack of attention on the staff part, as we were provided a couple of different pastries, which were not at all what we had asked for... super disappointing, as this was discovered when we got home. The space is pretty roomy, with various types of seating; in terms of outlets, there aren't that many, so it may not be the best choice to do some work. Note that the Wi-Fi access has a time limit. Nice spacious place that's great for getting work done. Their iced chai (4/5) was good, and the pastries were not bad too! My favorite was the double chocolate chip cookie (4.5/5). It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It reminded me of a crispier brownie which I love. The kouign-amann (3.5/5) was good too but it's a bit different from other kouign-amann that I had. It's less sweet, less buttery, less flakey. read more

I always get a ham and cheese croissant when available, so I had to get one here. It was light, flavourful, and so buttery! It was a bit too crispy (a bit crunchy, even) for my tastes, but it didn't take away from much. The service at the counter is fast, efficient, and friendly. One thing that I absolutely love is that there is so much comfortable seating! Yeah, it's a large space, but it's very well done. read more

The drinks took a long time to make. I had an iced matcha latte. It took a long time for them to make it. I am not sure if it's because it's a busy place or the servers that day were slow. The ambiance is a very cute atmosphere. Some of the seating is more comfortable than other seating. It was pretty crowded. We originally had not great seating and kept looking for better seating and waiting for people to leave and it took a very long time. read more
Think polished and professional. I ordered my usual vanilla latte, and while it was decent, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. I prefer mine a bit sweeter, so if you enjoy a more strong coffee flavor, it might be right up your alley. Overall, it's a nice place. A relative newcomer to the Chicago bakery scene Good Ambler makes good use of its expansive Fulton Market footprint with an in-house Bakery and Chocolatier plus lots of comfy seating. A 16 on Center concept, owners of everything from Salt Shed and Beauty Bar to Longman & Eagle, guests arriving during morning hours can expect a brief wait for Quiche, Wraps or Salads or an array of Viennoiserie. Priced akin to other like-concepts, roughly $4-6 per Pastry and Coffee $3.25 up for standard Drip, Good Ambler's Kouign Amann is sticky with a good exterior crackle yielding buttery layers while the Almond Croissant is soggy and marred by excessive Frangipane. More impressed by the Financier, a moist crumb supporting Cherry Jam, the Ham & Cheese Croissant proved better than its sibling but instead of being over-filled offered the opposite with a good amount of hardened Cheese visibly leaking from the edges. read more
We came here to kill some time while we waited for our lunch reservations so we each ordered one honey latte and one vanilla latte. The barista was definitely someone skilled and talented because the latte art was stunning. However, the drinks themselves fell short. We could taste neither of the syrups at all to the point where it was like a regular latte and we paid an extra $1 in total just for fun. The beans were also pretty acidic so that didn't help either. That said, the mugs that the drinks were served in were beautiful and the interior was spacious and cozy. I can see why many people come here to work or just hang out since the space is so inviting. I just wished the drinks were better. read more
Loved this spot as an early work from home spot. The pastries all looked divine but I wish the chocolate croissant had a bit more filling. The coffee was also good, but wish it was more steamed vs frothed (tasted more like a cappuccino). It was a bit pricey but the vibes were awesome so I'd come back! read more
