The drinks, are not that good. I got 50% sugar with 70% ice and the initial sip tastes good but the aftertaste is like faucet water unfortunately. The taro milk had 0% sugar and 3% ice and it tastes like Doritos were blended into the drink. I was very thrown off as I've had other boba with 0% sugar and it not tasting like a bag of chips. The egg waffle with ice cream was the only edible thing from our items. We would like to come back and try their tea drinks but I'm afraid it'll have an odd aftertaste. read more

It is your standard Gong Cha chain, consistent in quality and customer service as the other Gong Cha locations in the rest of Northern VA, and other locations globally. Gong Cha is one of my favorite bubble tea places in the area. There was an essential workers discount in the month of December so I was able to try a lot of items in one month (LOL). I highly recommend Earl Gray milk tea (try it with 3J's - pearls, pudding jelly, grass jelly). The milk tea is comparable to the milk teas I've had back in Asia. I also can't get enough of the brown sugar milk tea with brown sugar pearl. It tastes just as good (and sometimes better) than the famous Tiger Sugar boba (the closest Tiger Sugar boba locations are Ellicott City, MD and NYC). Their yogurt mixed drinks are decent - but not as much of a "Yakult" flavor as Kung Fu Tea's yogurt drinks. Out of the yogurt drinks, I like the Peach Yogurt the most. The Mango yogurt and strawberry yogurt was a bit on the artificial side. Green Tea Yogurt has a very subtle yogurt taste, but not bad. Try a Peach Yogurt with their recently released topping - peach star jelly (my current favorite topping from Gong Cha!). It tastes as great as it looks (who wouldn't want cute little stars in their drink??). I am not a fan of the purple potato latte series - this is my personal preference. I LOVE all things taro -- but the purple potato latte tasted more potato than sweet. I also am not fan of purple potato chunks in my drink. The taro drinks here are good though. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the egg waffle! It comes out fresh and warm. The egg waffle is light and chewy, and not too overwhelmingly sweet. Ice cream is extra, but the chocolate sauce and powdered sugar is free upon request. I like the original egg waffle. I also tried the matcha egg waffle but I feel like the matcha flavor was too subtle - and not worth the extra price for matcha. Be aware- the egg waffles are made-to-order so you might have to wait a few minutes for the egg waffle to be made! Gong Cha is located in downtown Rosslyn, so you will have to park on the street. Overall, if you need a boba fix, you've got to try Gong Cha- one of my favorites in the DMV! read more

After living in this area for a few years, I felt like I could definitely say that the area (even the whole DMV) was lacking in the boba scene. As someone from California who has lived in both Norcal and Socal, my trips home during the holidays would be getting all the good boba I could get before returning to DC. Needless to say, I think this Gong Cha satisfies the demand for higher quality boba in the Arlington area. The drinks are made to the Gong cha standard, and there is no other boba shop in the vicinity. Living very close by, I definitely like this shop much better than the only other options - Kung Fu Tea in Clarendon and Kung Fu Tea Georgetown, which I have relied on in the past. When I went this past weekend, there were people of all ethnicities drinking Gong Cha boba nearby and a few people in the shop. For opening during a global pandemic, I would say they are getting good business. I've had most of Gong cha's drinks before, but I recently tried their new purple yam line at this location. Not sure if this is ube, but I recommend getting at least 50% sugar - I got 25% sugar and it wasn't sweet at all. I will be back. :) UPDATE: Just went again yesterday - the purple yam smoothie (70% sugar) is *delicious* and not took sweet. You must try it! Amazing bubble tea, honestly might be the best. The bubble waffles are also really good and the white boba is definitely worth a try.

Overall, Gong Cha is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I ordered a passionfruit green tea, and it was refreshing and delicious. You can tell the quality of the product is fantastic. My only caution, and the reason I docked the review a star, is that this is a very dairy heavy menu with zero lactose-free substitutes. So if you have milk or lactose sensitivities, your selection is limited. I get it, milk tea, but other bubble tea places will usually have some kind of substitute such as lactose free or soy milk. If you are also caffeine sensitive, say in the afternoon, this only further limits your choices. My significant other was unable to order anything when we swung by in the afternoon because of that one-two combo. The staff was unable to recommend anything though I chalk that up to new restaurant teething. Still, I welcome a new boba shop and look forward to going on the future, albeit sans partner. read more

First time at this Gong Cha. I'm not sure if we just had bad drinks or not. We got a large (regular ice) and a small (less ice) drinks both with 100% sugar. Just the basic black milk tea and oolong milk tea to test the quality. Both with bubbles/boba/pearls. They both tasted watered down. Barely any tea taste and barely any sweetness. The pearls were good - soft and chewy. Customer service was okay. They were opened until 11:00pm on a covid Saturday while a lot of the other bubble tea places closed earlier. read more

This place is a great addition to the rosslyn/courthouse area. I got the dirty brown sugar milk tea which was delicious. I got a large which was quite small and pricey. I ended up paying over seven dollars for the tea with a 20 percent tip. Kung Fu is a much better deal but this place is very convenient. read more
