Two people who ordered after her got their tea before she got hers, and the bobarista didn't apologize or explain anything. She was also on her phone looking bored the whole time, but whatever. The girl at the front making the bubble tea was very nice and quick with making the order--it is a bit hidden though and be aware that Apple Maps will take you to the alleyway which is NOT where you should be going. The milk teas were both sweet treats for sure. Brown sugar is a favorite and really sweet--good for those who cannot have tea. I also got the taro milk tea which was very pretty with a strong taro flavor. They've been here for about 3 years already according the girl at the front. I like how Beautea has long hours and a fairly clean establishment with bright lights and nice looking displays (including a good ordering kiosk). However, I found the drinks and drink selection to be a bit underwhelming. The simple menu could be to help alleviate staffing problems as there were only two employees working during my visit (hence why they asked people to order from the kiosk, so they could have 2 drink makers instead of 1 cashier and 1 drink maker). The purple pineapple sparking drink looked pretty but I found it to be a bit too sweet and without a strong carbonation element or other unique feature - was kind of flat.. almost like a colorful fruit juice. The brown sugar milk tea was equally too sweet, and I found the tea to be a bit too mild where it was drowned out quite a bit by the milk. Had a boba craving kick in while visiting Georgetown, so we found our way to BeauTea. Though we are not knew to the BeauTea chain, this was our first time visiting this location. Our drinks were crafted well and tasted good. Service was efficient and the woman working the counter and making the drinks patiently answered questions that we posed. Once our order was placed she was quick to put them together. The inside space was clean with a few tables available for patrons to enjoy their drinks in the establishment. We did have a little trouble finding the entrance and building as the signage wasn't immediately clear where they were located. Also, at the time of our visit, they were only taking orders through the self-service kiosk. This was not a problem for us, but if you are a little technology-phobic, just be aware that the staff was not taking orders and you had to do so through the kiosk on your own. We ended up trying the Taro Milk Tea and Rose Honey Milk Tea. The Taro Milk Tea was classic and tasted exactly as we expected. The Rose Honey Milk Tea was unique and tasted so refreshing, especially on a warm, humid afternoon. This was my first time tasting this drink and I loved it. The boba was a nice addition to the Rose Honey Milk Tea. Not too sweet and a good texture. BeauTea in Georgetown is a solid location to get your bubble tea/boba fix. Unpopular opinion: I'm not a huge fan of the tall cups. It was especially problematic when I ordered from UberEats and the drink did not come with a straw. I tried drinking from the cup but spilled a bit on myself since having such a narrow cup doesn't quite work well here. Definitely a minor inconvenience but something to be noted. The Thai Ice Milk Tea was really pretty, but extremely sweet. I would order this if you are a fan of sweets, but this wasn't quite it for me. I prefer to taste more of the Thai Tea, but got a lot of the condensed milk instead. The boba was also on the harder side and not as chewy as I would have liked. Very solid Boba shop! Had the Dragonfruit and Taro milk foam. Both well-made and flavorful. Did it have a specific uniqueness to separate it from the other boba shops? Not really. They are also located in Georgetown so I would imagine the rent must be insane so that is why the drinks are so expensive. This is why I wouldn't go out my way for them even though everything I had was satisfactory! They get bonus points for offering chili wontons, noodles, takoyaki etc. since they have Reren next door (same owner). OK, I had been to BeauTea last summer to get cold boba tea, and it was pretty good. I made the mistake of coming back today (in December) and ordering two hot boba teas in the medium size. Problems: 1 - they, um, can't make hot tea -- the tea they gave us was lukewarm, at best. When I brought it back to the counter and told them, the gal behind the counter told me that they couldn't make hot tea because of the machinery, and because the milk is cold. She wasn't exactly clear, but apparently this isn't because something is broken: they just can't make hot tea (despite it being a prominent part of their menu). After I got a refund and was walking out, she told me they *could* make the mocha and taro flavors hot, but not the other flavors. Huh? OK, I got the taro and it was hot and good. 2 - the lids don't work with boba -- if you order the hot boba tea in medium, the cup they give you has a lid that . . . doesn't work with boba straws. Should I repeat that? Their boba tea lids don't work with boba straws. The gal told me -- I'm not kidding -- that I should drink just the tea until the level is low enough not to spill, then remove the lid and use the boba straw. BeauTea is a really cute spot (with a very adorable and punny name) perfect for studying, a casual hang-out with friends, or a follow-up to a great bowl of ramen from Reren, a ramen restaurant (with strong Chinese influences) right upstairs. The interior is absolutely gorgeous; it's incredibly modern and clean, with mostly black and white decor and clean geometric shapes. There are outlets under the tables where you can charge your devices, which makes it perfect for studying, but the seating is generally pretty limited, so I wouldn't expect to be able to stick around if you're coming with a large group. The tea itself was....okay. Especially considering all the glowing reviews I had heard around Georgetown (albeit most of them came over the summer before Gong Cha opened, so BeauTea was the only boba shop in the area), I was incredibly hyped to test this spot out. I found that the tea was a bit overpriced, although I must admit that the cups are large and super aesthetically appealing, especially their fruit teas. This place also tends to run 25-60% over on sweetness, which was really tough for me as someone who usually prefers between 0 and 25% sugar. I tried their mango green tea and thought it was solid (albeit not much different than, say, Gong Cha or Kung Fu Tea, which will give you the same quality but for half the price), but my friend had their brown sugar milk tea and found that it was incredibly watery. He described it as "mostly sugar and milk, with a splash of tea." In general, I would recommend going for their fruit teas and reducing the sugar level beyond what you would normally put it at. It's a phenomenal location if you love ramen, want something to sip on while taking a walk by the Georgetown Waterfront, or just love taking aesthetic photos of drinks, but when it comes to the actual quality of the boba...I'll probably take a pass on this one. read more

They have tons of promos, including $1 off for the Yelp check-in (which is what attracted me to BeauTea in the first place). Their menu is pretty small and the prices are a bit high. You could easily go to gong cha and get something better. I'm convinced people go here for the aesthetic because the quality of the drinks are below average. The tea is massive, yet watery and flavorless. The lychee mojito contained not even a hint of the sweet lychee taste I know and love, and even though the drink was packed with mint, I didn't even taste the mint. Huh? It was made with Black Milk Tea, not just milk which I liked because it added more flavor-- Brown Sugar Drinks sometimes just taste like sugar-y milk. Loved coming here on a spring Saturday afternoon. They have great Boba and many flavor options. The space is clean and the employees work efficiently. For a tiny little store, there were three employees and they were all hustling! There was a huge line inside that extended outside. The young lady at the front counter took our order and we were in and out in 10ish minutes. I will say the small room was quite packed with waiting customers, so not super covid friendly waiting area, but the employees all wore masks and practiced cleanliness while preparing our food. Definitely recommend upfront if you are sweetness level sensitive, this place probably runs 25-50% over on sweetness! That is, if your usual is 75% sweetness at somewhere like Kung Fu tea, I would go 50% here. Went with a friend who went 50% on her drink and wished she'd gone 25%! It's definitely a science! I ordered the Taro Milk Tea with almond milk and pudding. Have to say I was a little taken aback that they only have ONE SIZE, and boy it was a big drink! My drink was like $7 even with the &1 Yelp check-in. Dang! I got the 75% and it was sweeeeet. Like not even sure it wasn't 100%. I could have done with the 50%. Wasted my time trying to find parking in Georgetown to visit this spot after commuting from Williamsburg at night and then I come arrive in the store 15 mins before 11PM and they say they're closed. Hours says they're open till 11PM and the barista says they stop taking orders 10-15 mins before they close. 20-30 mins of time driving in DC I won't get back and the fact that the parking I paid for like 5-10 mins cost $6.
