This was my favorite Chinese restaurant in Lodi for the longest time and I'm so disappointed in the new ownership. I stopped by for my favorite meal today, Mongolian beef with steamed rice, and figured it would be a little different due to change in ownership but my god! I got about half the amount of meat as I would usually get, so the meal was 80% steamed rice and the Mongolian beef was bland, colorless and barely spicy. It's so disappointing and heartbreaking. This used to be such a great place. I'm hoping they do other dishes better, but I won't be back. read more

This was our go to spot for awesome food for the last 20 yrs but that changed tonight. Lady who took order on phone was rude and had no idea on proper phone etiquette. When walked in and noticed all new staff I was nervous and my fears were realized when brought food home to our hungry bunch and very disappointed to say the least. This place is a hole in the wall, and everyone knows if it's a hole in the wall most likely it's good, and it's absolutely TRUE! If you like beef. My BF recommends the Mongolian Beef. Worst Chinese food I've ever had, it was tasteless. I got the combo with the BBQ Beef, Chow Mien and Sweet & Sour pork with an order of pot stickers. The Beef was tough and flavorless, like chewing an old piece of leather. The pot stickers were fried, yet still gummy. The coating on the Sweet and Sour Pork had a weird texture to it, and the sauce had no flavor. I ended up tossing most of the meal in the garbage. The worst customer service ever!! This lady is beyond rude.. Don't try and order what she would think is to be too much or you will get the worst service and disgusted looks from her. This has happened multiple (3x) times and has even said things like, "you already ate(soup), and that's too much (dinner special)." I'm the customer paying with my hard earned money and you are going to turn away my business because you think my FAT A$$ don't need it?? How does that make any sense??? Lady who takes orders and serves the tables can APPEAR rude but she's just very busy keeping everyone happy. The food is fresh, hot, delicious and always leftovers to take home. There are probably 4-5 other Chinese or Asian restaurants closer to where we live, but we always go out of our way to Golden China. Went here with my daughter and she didn't finish all her food, so when the waitress came by, she asked for a box to take the rest home. The food is fantastic, not greasy as reported by some other reviewers. Grace is the lady at the counter most days. She speaks English but is not confident in it. The language barrier is probably why some think she is rude. I have been visiting this place for almost 2 years. It is a quick and tasty lunch spot and the ONLY Chinese food in the area I can get my husband to eat. All four of my kids are fans. I would give Golden China a 5 star except that I wish it was a little updated. A better entry could do wonders for this otherwise perfect place. read more

The food was great and very fresh, the chicken chow mein was my favorite prob the best I've had all around , broccoli beef was fresh and crunchy and the slices of beef they add in are moist and have a great flavor, fried rice also delicious it looked greasy but it didn't taste like it, and then the orange chicken.. it's the make or break for me and Chinese food restaurants I'm used to crunchy and orange flavor (panda) theirs is not too crunchy and the sauce could have been better tasting but overall it was good. read more

I agree with Jose, avoid the prawns at all costs. Other than that, Golden China has the most robust Chinese Food in the greater Lodi area. That doesn't mean its a must -see, but they're still above average. The Mongolian Beef has a nice kick to it. The curry-flavored Singapore chow mein was a hit-or-miss; however, I was in the minority among my group by not liking it. For the price, they really pile on the food. I mean reallllllly. They give you a vast cardboard box to carry it in. Bring an Olympic weightlifter with you if you pick up your order. Overall not bad, but for Chinese food a cut above the rest, a trip to the Bay Area would be required. read more
