I got the 3-item combo with fried rice, coconut shrimp, and sweet & sour pork. The sweet & sour pork had a nice tangy flavor and crunch, but it was heavy on the flour which made it a bit overwhelming. The fried rice was just okay, pretty plain and nothing memorable. The coconut shrimp was the best part: crispy, flavorful, and something I'd come back for. Overall, I'd call the food mid, especially the chicken dishes. The place is small, staff seemed a little laid-back, but I liked that they accept credit card with a quick digital scan. I'd rate it around 3 stars, mostly for the shrimp. read more

Came in here to ask for a catering menu to possibly get some food catered for an event and as soon as I walked in there was a lady sweeping she didn't greet me didn't say anything. I was standing in the front and asked her if they had a catering menu by any chance. She ignored me so I asked a guy in the back he said "the owner is right there" and pointed to the lady who was ignoring me so she comes up to the front doesn't even look at me and rudely says "no we don't have it just a regular menu." It's always risky trying a new place but the food here, at least when I went was super good. It even had my mom going for a third plate! It was quiet but overall I really enjoyed it. I had 3 people including me eat, got a Snapple, water, and sprite in total of 7 plates and the final damage was $38 which super good since I don't have that kind of luxury for 27.99 per person type buffets! read more

I wanted to stop by for an easy pick-up meal and I have to say that my plate was less than average. I really wanted to like it but the flavoring just wasn't there. If anything, the fried rice was the best part. The vegetable and meat ratio for the broccoli and beef was off, however, the overall portion sizes and pricing were pretty good. I haven't been to this location in months. We finally had time to stop for lunch, and we don't plan on coming back to this location. This location "used" to be great, however it is not great anymore. This location used to have male chefs and other employees that take your order. The food is not as good as it used to be, obviously due to a new chef/ cook. We couldn't sit for long as our eyes were becoming very irritated from the onions and strong spices used for cooking, mostly the onions. The lady that is at the counter is not welcoming, kind, or helpful at all. She doesn't ask you anything, instead you have to get her attention to order. She doesn't greet anyone, and her answers are limited to yes and no, and not because of a language barrier. She doesn't greet you, doesn't ask how she may help you, she doesn't say thank you, just yes and no. We will go back to Pershing where they are helpful and welcoming. We may try the other locations as well, however we will definitely not be returning to this location "unless" the previous cook and front counter person returns. This was a very disappointing experience to say the least. It doesn't take that much effort to be welcoming, kind, courteous, and be able to communicate with your guests/customers. Try it sometime, you might find out that it makes a difference with customer service. As for the food, the previous cook has to return. read more

Sherman's Chinese food. My first review in a while. Let's see if yer Boi VD, can still do this. For a while everything was closed up due to the Covid 19 stuff going on. My kids wanted some Chinese food and almost everywhere I looked was closed. Luckily I was at this Mexican meat market next door. I saw this guy cleaning the place out and told us to come back tomorrow and we did. At the time there was a special going on. Not sure if it's still happening now. But over the summer it was. You buy 3 combo plates and the 4th one is free. That's an awesome deal because I have three kids, it was win win for yours truly. You have to wear masks to enter and only two people can come in at a time. That's food especially with the Coronavirus still at large. You can't dine in and it's take out only. The service was Great and people were following the rules. That's good too, since it seems like nobody follows the rules in California, lol. The portions here are always packed well and the to-go containers keep the food hot. So by the time I came home with the food everyone was grubbing on hot food and not cold and soggy food. That's one of the reasons, I rarely do take out. When my kids come back home from college from out of state. Sherman's is the one place they always want first. They do really like the food here and the other three locations they have in Stockton. If you're ever in the Area you should give Sherman's a try. Going to a Chinese buffet was a bit skeptical to me at first.... but it was surprisingly not bad. When me and my boyfriend came in the man I assume is the owner greeted us right away. He was super friendly! We looked at our options and loaded up our plates. I liked the wontons, fried chicken, and fried shrimp! The owner encouraged us to eat more and never rushed us out of the restaurant. We were the only ones that were eating the AYCE buffet but there were many people coming in to order take out. I don't review often and so a 1 star is likely to be considered unreliable to help and business owners but I think the pics that I have are enough evidence to justify the rating. Sherman's #3 is average as far as Chinese food goes. Imagine a slightly better Panda Express. That's Sherman's #3. Inside, it's basic. You have simple tables and chairs. Nothing to write home about and that's OK. You don't go out to Chinese for the extravagant ambiance. All this was fine with me until I took some home and found what looked like a small roach in my sweet and sour pork (iirc). I wanna be nice and say the staff there is nice and give them at least 2 stars but I can't give any place that's a hazard to the public any more than 1 star. read more

I have had a really hard time wrapping my head around why Sherman buffet is popular here. The noodles taste like raw flour everything is extremely tasteless. I know it's drowning in MSG because I am super full about three bites in but starving about 20 minutes later. I get it pricing is probably the main attraction. Panda express cannot be better. Mom and pop spots are supposed to be way tastier. My girlfriend loved going here until I put her on to E. and West. After reading all the good reviews about the Waterloo & Country Club locations, I decided to give this place a try since it was closer to home & boy do I deeply regret it. The sweet & sour pork was the worst I've ever had in my life. It was over-fried, so you couldn't even taste or feel the texture of the pork inside (everything crunched). Not only that, but a lot of the pieces were just fried batter (no meat inside) & not even covered in sauce. Our brocolli & beef came with 4 tiny pieces of beef (no exaggeration). My pepper shrimp literally didn't have one spec of pepper nor any peppery taste. My husband wanted the traditional roasted red pork & they asked "chicken?" so he said, "No, pork." I guess they don't make it w/ pork because they gave him their overcooked propane flavored red chicken anyway. They give you a lot of their bland rice I guess to make up for how skimpy they are on the entrees. Overall, this was the worst chinese food I've ever had, so I definitely won't be back, but will give the other locations a try. read more

They do a brisk takeout business and really load up the containers. Most likely you'll have enough for two meals! Shermans has Stockton covered with their three locations. The original restaurant on Waterloo Rd in the Harbor Freight shopping center, the second location on Country Club Blvd in the Safeway shopping center and the newest one on N. Yay for a Sherman's close to home. This place is much bigger than the one on Country Club and I am digging it haha. I love that they continue to be nice and welcoming to all customers. The food selection is the same as the other ones and they still give a bunch of food to go. Very affordable and tasty. I ordered 2 of the three item combo to go. First had teriyaki chicken, broccoli beef, and green beans. The second had fried rice, 2 garlic chicken, and green beans. The teriyaki chicken is very good. Love that there is more chicken than vegetables. The broccoli beef is good. I like my broccoli soft and this place makes them that way. The fried chicken is great. I love that it is boneless. It has a great garlic flavor that is not over or underwhelming. The green beans are amazing, so flavorful. The fried rice is great also. For $12, I cannot really complain. read more

My family of 7 used to love this place, we used to eat here at least 3 times a month, however, we never will again! I don't know if they changed owners but there is a new lady at the front who obviously does not speak English because she can't understand the simplest directions. All of their food has so much vegetables in it, you get NO MEAT! The people eating at the buffet pick all the beef out of the Broccoli & BEEF so it's basically just Broccoli, total rip off! The cream cheese puffs hardly had any fillings and it was deep fried for too long. The owner at Thornton is not attentive. Prepare to stand in line outside, whether you phone in or not. Only 2 allowed in the roomy suite at a time. If you phone in, you are stuck watching your food get cold while you wait your turn. So much for that. This is my 4th time ordering from this location in the past year. First 2 times a solid 4 stars. Not for the last 2 times. My 2 star rating takes all of that into consideration. The food: of course, Cold. My order was Family Meal for 4 (Fried Chicken, Fried Rice, Teriyaki Chicken, Chow Mein, Broccoli Beef, Fried Breaded Shrimp, Mongolian Chicken, Egg Rolls) Fried Chicken was dry and greasy. Hard to chew. The Chow Mein and Broccoli Beef tasted like dish soap and had a nasty metallic odor. The Mongolian Chicken was pretty good. Spicy and tender. The Fried shrimp was dry but tasty. The egg rolls were fried well and tasty. I did not feel well after my meal and could not get the nasty, soapy metallic taste out of my mouth. A few months ago, ok more like 6 months ago, this place was awesome. Now.... not awesome. Sorry man. Can't go back. Who wants to pay less for inedible Chinese food? I visited this Chinese buffet last weekend because I noticed the "hot and new" feature and wanted to give it a try. The inside of the buffet isn't that big like hometown buffet but has enough seating for a few tables. The options were limited but for the price of $6, I wasnt going to complain. For the few dishes they had, it was cooked to a high standard. An example was the beef chow fun honestly tasted better than some restaurant's and it usually costs over 10 bucks a plate in SoCal! There were 2 deep fried chicken dishes that tasted like general tsao or orange chicken. Then there was broccoli dish to fill the vegetable portion. The egg rolls were also pretty good and was complemented by the sweet and sour red sauce. I can't remember all the options but I'll take a pic next time. I would be down to return because of the great experience and value. The man who seemed like the owner was kind and brought water refills. The non-buffet option of Togo boxes are cheap and seem like a good deal too. Definately give this place a try if you enjoy Chinese food. read more

I've been here twice. The food is not as fresh as other locations because traffic is still slow. I'm sure in time that will change. The value is incredible..the place is very clean, and service is friendly. I will continue to support this location as it's very convenient. Congratulations on the success have dinner here tonight!Tonight of course made it the new restaurant 20 min before close. None the less the food was hot and I got the last of the beef broccoli so he piled it on thick. As always greeted warmly and served quickly to go of course with a friendly smile. He asked if I wanted anything made that wasn't out, not wanting to keep them I took the last of the fried rice as well. Pleasantly surprised. Came here for dinner based on a recommendation by a friend. Really low prices, and pretty tasty food. I'm not going to say this is the best buffet ever, but for 7.25 + 1.35 for a drink, I was all in at $8.60 for my dinner. You get a lot for what you're paying. The place is pretty small, and there's about 12 different items to choose from. All were pretty tasty and well made. The only thing I would complain about is that some of the broccoli pieces in the broccoli beef were really large. I have a pretty big mouth and I couldn't fit some of the pieces--definitely not bite sized pieces. The wife also approved of the buffet. It was close, quick, and cheap.
