So I gotta say... this place ain't bad.. it's good for being budget friendly and it may not be as good as the better but higher priced buffet but you got to hand it to these guys that's been there since the 80s.. and this has been my second or third time being here so far. The very first time I been here? Was when I was still a student at Edison around senior year some friends I made with from a youth group retreat that also went to the same school... one of them said "let's to go suns garden for lunch.. its good!" .. if I recall correctly.. unsure if it was on a school day or just random but we went and it's good though I can't remember what I had. Mind you this was around 1999. So I decided to go again today and I knew where the area would be but just didn't see any sign.. yup they took down just part of the sign but left the Chinese written part which is why I missed it the first time. Can't remember if it looked the same or not but of course I had to get cash and they're across the gas station so I went to an atm there. Had the fried rice, chow mein veggies and couple of chicken drumsticks and I think it's kung pao chicken and an eggroll. I had a soda but maybe their soda machine needs some work. Otherwise maybe they should swap over to canned or bottled drinks and maybe have free ice water. And all in all.. I say it's good I had to select some drumsticks that didn't look to "dry" or hard but had quite some juicy ones. So yes I see low star ratings but, got to hand it to them they're still in business even past Covid in 2020. Other Chinese restaurants that I know of near my hood and a couple downtown.. don't exist now as they're closed but there's others that I haven't been to though I can't tell if they're a new chain or been open as long as the 80s. Yes it's hood off charter way but I dined in anyway. Can always get to go. Will I come again? Maybe. I'd rate 3.5 but I'll round up to 4. read more

It's located between two gas stations on Martin Luther King Blvd, also knows a Charter Way. It's a little hood but not scary. The place is outdated and could use an update. It looks like it did 20+ years ago. I was in the area and had some cash so I decided to stop here. It is cash only. I went during lunch so their lunch plate is $11 out the door. I think for dinner, It goes up to $12.50. It comes with chow mein (didn't taste the same as I remember) , fried rice which is Dark due to a lot of soy sauce I think, veggies, which are my favorite here, sweet-and-sour pork, which are perfectly crisp and the best fried chicken. The special trip for the fried chicken makes it worth it. It's perfectly crispy on the outside with not too much flour as others and moist in the inside. Not much interaction from the server, but she was pleasant. There are a few tables for those who want to do the all you can eat, as this place, for the same takeout price is all you can eat, which is a hell of a deal! read more

Stop complaining and to all you haters, this place has been opened since the 80s or maybe even longer than that. And I've been coming here since I was a little kid since the early 90s. It's not a fancy dining restaurant service for you to go show off your outfit or your pretty face. It's more like a to go fast food and it's either a hit or miss depending if you get them fresh or not. Had a Horrible experience going in for the buffet not realizing all you get to choose from are the soy sauce flavor fried rice and flavorless chowmein and veggies, fried chicken aren't even included and no free refill. This hole in the wall is located on Martin Luther King Blvd (formerly known as Charter Way) and it's a must-stop type of place. Reminds me of my childhood days running down the street during my lunch break at Edison High School. Many years later, I still find myself making the drive for their garlic chicken, a pint of half rice and half chowmein which still rivals any Chinese restaurant in town. If you ever find yourself in the area I highly recommend you give them a try. Through the years, not much has changed other than the building dilapidating. They still accept cash only. I used to come to this restaurant when I was a child. I recently moved back to Stockton and decided I needed to eat here again. The noodle and rice portions were HUGE. However, the rice was super salty. The noodles had a weird aftertaste. The chicken was so dry and salty. The shrimp was very gross. Not sure if they use dry shrimp, lol. Not sure if the only seasonings they use are soy sauce and salt. But if you're struggling and need some food for a couple of days and you don't care about the taste, then this place is for you. The only thing still edible at this place is the garlic chicken. The fried rice has no kind of meat or veggies in it, it's literally just rice with soy sauce fried, not even eggs. The chow mein was so soggy but at least had little bits of veggies and meat, very little though like little specks. The veggie stir fry only had broccoli stems and cabbage, missing the carrots and actual broccoli. Last the fried shrimp was rancid, and the tempura batter was a hard as a rock. I'd hate to be the bringer of bad news. Actually just ignore my review, my standards are probably too high. I'm not from Stockton, so I have tons of readily available Chinese food. The fried rice is like a dark brown with ham and green onions. Not too bad, it's just your typical "combo plate" rice and noodles. They serve a vegetable, that is heavily sauced with a "cornstarch" texture. The fried shrimp was really good (good sized and tenderness) and the pork was a little hard and dry but with the sweet and sour sauce made it good. I actually really liked the fried chicken drumstick...oh man it's good! It has the Asian flavor, but it's like fried chicken. Totally worth it. However I wish the Filipino Food Express was open on Friday night, but it's okay. I'd give this place a 2.5ish, but since it's a smorgasbord (you don't find many Chinese smorgasbords), I'm bumping it up to 3 stars! read more

The food here is cheap. They have take out plates and are very generous with the food but I recommend staying to try the buffet. They do have little to choose from but the garlic fried chicken and pawns are worth it. An adult buffet dinner currently cost $7.00 (they only take CASH so come prepared ). This place.. The food is below the standard I'm use to. The food is nasty, wasn't prepared correctly, eggs rolls were nice a greasy(over cooked) I ordered chicken fried rice, it wasn't cooked fresh. They had some rice already cooked the took out pieces of shrimp, didn't warm the rice just threw in what could be chicken pieces. I still had shrimp in there. The place has a 4 star rating and their building is nasty. Hasn't been updated since they opened looks like the early 80's... People take about the Bay, but at least they have their food, buildings, and customer service together. read more

Go to spot on the Southside of Stockton. If you know then you know. Grew up on this as a kid. Super cheap plates for lunch ($6) and dinner ($7). Lunch come with rice, noodles, sweet n sour pork, and fried chicken (my fave). Fried shrimp is added to the dinner plates. The inside is pretty run down, I guess you can say it's a true "hole in the wall" joint. That's really the only thing keeping me from the 5-star review. But it's also the southside. Best Chinese I've ever had.. Born and raised in Stockton.. Lived on Grant and ate here once a week with my mom when I was young.. She ate here also when she was young. They have fried rice to die for, chow mein, chicken, vegetables, pork, sweet n sour sauce for pork, then if its lunch theres egg foo young :D~, dinner has fried prawns. They have free water or fountain drink cup to buy, refills are not free. I'd understand people aren't use to the people that live in Stockton but if your here to have great food and not listen or worry about people around you then all is good.. The little lady's are real nice but don't speak much English. Oh and they only take CASH. I tell people give this place a chance, if u don't want to eat there then take a plate to go.. Inside of restaurant is in need of serious updating. The placement of building, terrible location. Customer service sucks. The fried rice os old and cold. I asked for chicken fried rice so I could get new fresh rice. Wrong. There was no frying going on on the back. The rice was dark brown which indicates old reused rice. Plus the veggies in the rice were just thrown on top of the rice. This tells me they did cook it together. Then the rice was cooling down fast, which indecates it was just warmed up then sent out to me.. The so called chicken, might not be.. There are hard chunckes of some type of meat in the rice. As I've said before, I live for greasy disgusting Chinese food. This is the best place for it in Stockton. It's really a small mom and pop place. You walk in and are bombarded by the smell of their delicious chicken which hits you smack dab in the face. I'm salivating just thinking about it. They have two options, either you eat in and serve yourself smorgasbord style or you get a to-go plate for around six dollars and you have dinner for two. If you plan on eating there then I suggest you stack up on that chicken. 10/10 would recommend. They have several different hot sauces in stock, take your pick and go at it. Now if you're planning on taking it to go... You're definitely going to have left overs. Alas, BEWARE, make sure to pick your own chicken or else you will be stuck with two tiny pieces of chicken instead of the good stuff. You'll also get a big helping of chow mein, fried rice, vegetables (bleh), and sweet and sour pork. As far as location goes, hide yo kids and hide yo wife.
