We love Chopstick and have for many years. I would have, for sure, given a five star rating. Unfortunately the shrimp were way-way over breaded. We had to remove over half the breading on each shrimp. I assume this was done to compensate for the small shrimp inside. Everything else was very good as usual. I would be glad to redo my review if the shrimp situation is remedied. I don't remember this happening on previous visits. So... other than the shrimp it's the best. read more

this use to be my spot!! every time i drove by there i had to stop because i had to have their shrimp fried rice, if i tell you that the last three or four times that i have had it and it was full of oil and gummy!! i don't know what happened. i ordered the combination mongolian beef plate and it was awful. don't get me wrong the egg foo young, the salt and pepper shrimp are still really good but the rice and the chow mein are the stars so they have to do better. i hope they do because i really enjoyed this place because i have been going here since i left the bay area and it is hard to find a chinese restaurant that is authentic out here in stockton. read more

This is my first time trying this place out and I'd honestly say it's not that bad! Service is pretty good, they're pretty nice people I would say (: For the food, I'm all for it but also not at the same time. We (my mom and I) ordered their beef chowmein, pork fried rice, and broccoli beef. I've been looking for a place that has some good chowmein and I'd say their chowmein is actually really good! A tad on the oily side, but overall I really like it -- The flavor is definitely there. For their broccoli beef I'd say it's pretty good; it has flavor. Now for their pork fried rice... unfortunately I didn't really like it as it was pretty dry.. it has flavor kinda, but it's dry.. id probably try their other fried rice if I order from them again, but overall 2 out of 3 of the foods we ordered was yummy! read more

My family has been coming here for around 50 years before I was born childhood memories, local neighborhood, Chinese spot as a child I would come in and they would always give me a fortune cookie when looking through the window as the food was being prepared generation after generation family owned business so if you are ever passing through Stockton, go get some delicious Chinese food and the price is still reasonable delicious chow mein, garlic, chicken, chicken and foil fried rice even though I had just ate I still picked up a little because I have to have a taste. Thank you guys for years of great customer service. I now live down south but when I come home to visit, I will always stop by. read more

I've been coming to The Chopstick for many years. This takeout restaurant offers tasty food and generous portions for a great price. I usually get the combination plates. I recommend getting the Barbecue Spareribs or the Lemon Chicken. I'm pretty sure the other options of the combination plates would be great as well. We have always loved the Chopstick. However, we ordered takeout a few days ago. My husband loves their fried prawns and pork chowmein. We ordered fried prawns (7), pork chowmein and pork fried rice. I must say the only thing that we ordered that was fresh and delicious was the pork chowmein. The fried prawns were like doughnuts with a little bit of shrimp inside. There was so much breading on it, we didn't even finish them and for $9 for 7 prawns, that was a waste. Let alone the pork fried rice was old and kind of hard.... Mainly rice, soy sauce and freshly cut green onions on top of the box. There were a few crumbs of pork but it was sparse. The rice, at $5.60 also, went to waste. This restaurant had been one of our favorites for decades. We are on to looking for another Chinese food restaurant with delicious prawns and pork fried rice. This used to be a great place to get your garlic fried chicken and I also loved the chowmein with pan fried noodles. When I came back to Stockton to visit my parents and siblings I suggested I order some food from them. My kid brother told me they didn't serve the pan fried noodles anymore and the garlic chicken wasn't like it used to be. Really disappointed! read more

I ordered their combo plate: Pork Fried rice, I guess pork chow mein and you pick one -- I picked Mongolian beef. OMG !!!! The absolute worst Chinese Food I ever HAD!!! I am from San Francisco wear food is king !!!!! I would describe it as a monster mash. The Mongolian beef doesn't taste like Mongolian Beef it's just dry and sitting smack on top of the rice & chow mein like a tarantula. The rice is dry and the chow mein is ridiculous!!! Nothing, I mean nothing has any flavor. Now I have passed this place over a million times because I moved back to the Bay and then back here, yeah I know crazy, huh? Service: I called on Sunday morning (yesterday) right when they opened at 11am. Had a really eventful night celebrating my bro's birthday so we woke up real hungry. When I placed the call, I was put on hold. Someone jumped on the line after 8 minutes and mumbled something only to put me back on hold. 4 minutes later I had my sisters-in-law call in just to see if they forgot about me. Sure enough, she got through and started placing the order I had in my hand. The lady said the food would be ready in 30 minutes. It wasn't. I gave a 10 min cushion and still had to wait another 10 minutes when I got there. 50 min total time. I was the only one there and said I had a phone order...she brought the food out but before handing it to me she decides to verify the phone number it was under. Why bring the food out to me and then verify? Food: I've had the same order a few months back and it was pretty good. This time I told my bro it didn't taste the same. Apparently there have been a change of ownership. I could definitely taste the difference. We were hungry and the food tasted meh. They used a different style noodle for the chicken chow mein. Could only imagine if we weren't hungry! This place is not the same. Lower quality food and worst customer service. Definitely won't be back. read more

I absolutely love their food and I refer them to everyone. They can have their days where the food is bland but overall, it's delicious. Not a fan of their egg rolls. Very bland. Their customer service has gone downhill throughout the years. Waited 20 minutes just to get our soup that comes with our meal. They rarely come to check on your drinks. At no point did we get anyone to refresh our waters today. We usually just pour our own because we wait forever to have someone to come by. Today we couldn't because there was not pitchers of water. I love the food from here! Ive been eating here since I was a child. The shrimp fried rice is awesome. Its my favorite shrimp fried rice in all of Stockton. They used to have plain pan fried noodles that were the best thing ever. But sadly they are no longer available. The chow mein is hit or miss. Having not been here for quite some time here goes. I did enjoy the chicken soup, husband not so much but he loves salt which may be why the difference in preference. We agreed that the vegetable delight was not delightful. Too many bean sprouts and not much else once you serve the first spoonful. General Tso's chicken is pretty comparable to others. Chicken wrapped in tinfoil is juicy but could of used more marinade. Pork fried rice is also somewhere in the middle. Price is very reasonable which is why we will try again and see if we find other items we might enjoy. read more

I am 62 years old and a lifetime resident of Stockton. My family has enjoyed Chopstick since I was a little girl. In fact it was a big deal treat when we ordered and had it delivered. My husband & I ordered on 3/5/21 our usual. Dinner for 2 with pan fried noodles. We were told they are having trouble right now getting the pan fried noodles. We ordered anyway. The thing we enjoy & look forward to THE MOST is their unique pork chow mein that comes with the dinner for two. In fact, we like it so much we usually order an extra order as we did Friday. This chow mein consists of bean sprouts, almonds, water chestnuts, mushrooms, vegetables and meat (pork). What we got was 2 cartons of noodles with a bit of celery. And it was awful. I think long and hard before I post a bad review. In fact, I just called to see if there was an explanation. Are there new owners (which I highly doubted), new cooks or any other factor that would excuse that the item we received was unrecognizable. I spoke with Mark. I explained I was calling as a courtesy in hopes of avoiding writing a negative review. I also explained the long history as a customer. Mark clearly seemed disinterested in the courtesy I was extending or our dissatisfaction. In fact, his disinterest made me ask if he was family or had any vested interest in the business (it's been family owned & operated for years). He answered that he was just a worker. I asked if I could speak to a family member or owner. He stated they were busy and there wasn't anyone else there at the time that spoke English. He also informed me we should have ordered Chopstick's Special Chow Mein. We have NEVER had to specify this on the dinner for two! So there you go. My husband says that's it for Chopstick for him. I'm not sure about just cutting them off after over 50 years. I am leaning towards giving them another shot down the line but never again ordering over the phone. Garlic fried chicken is great! Cooked well done all the way through. Some places don't cook their chicken enough for my liken. This place does. And really good. The asparagus shrimp with black bean sauce is my favorite. So Super good! Hubby wanted chicken with black bean sauce and asparagus. The fried rice is great. And the chicken chop suey we also enjoyed. The chow mein was soggy and flavorless and that's one of our favorites. Thing's just didn't taste the same. The next time I decided to get the beef broccoli combination dinner. The combination dinners are always good. Unfortunately it confirmed that the food was no longer what it used to be. Usually you have a lot of chow mein first then the fried rice in the back along with the item selected, in this case, the beef broccoli. First time coming to this Take-Out Chinese food restaurant, and I have to say I'm rather underwhelmed. I ordered their lunch portion *Mongolian Beef (*=popular) and it was not like any Mongolian beef I have had before. It was like they threw chilly peppers on top and made it Mongolian Beef. And their rice and chow-mein was not any better; it lacked a lot flavor. I've been all over Stockton and had Chinese food from plenty of the restaurants in this town... Worst costumer service in my life , food is meh , lady at the cashier has an ego so big that she told me that i made a mistake pointing at which order im payin for , i point at the order im paying for, this girl only charged me for the single item that she assumed i was talking about , first of all never assume in costumer service , second of all i said im paying for this one and and pointed at my order because i ordered two separate ones , she was extremely rude when she realized she made a mistake charging me for a single item on that paper ?!!!! Came here for lunch. Ordered the mushroom chicken, Chicken fried rice and chow mein. They offer a reasonable price for lunch combination plates and I was able to pick up my order in under 15 minutes. There was enough food for two meals. Service was very friendly and I super appreciate that they offer chicken fried rice.
