Everything had a unique sweetness to it including the California roll and crunch role, which my kids really liked. The Mongolian beef was very good as was the chowmein. The chowmein was light, not in a heavy sauce which was good. All the veggies and proteins were very fresh. The fish soup in hot broth was very good. The fish was tender but the only real flavor is hot chili... pretty one note, but if you like hot chili it's good. However it was also very hot not just spicy so it was hard to eat. It would have been good over some white rice. The food is good but the venue in general doesn't give off prosperity, at least during the day... things like a box of paper towels in the hall way and unpacking sodas and to go ware in the dinning area on the tables just doesn't make it feel very nice... but the food it very good. Feels more like a good take out place. Did notice a lot of door dash and it'd be good for a catered party. My kids also couldn't get over the AI rocker on the tv... Michael Bennett the AI classic rock singer. Overall I'd say this is a great to go place or place to pick up food for a party, just not a very nice place for a fancy sit down so the name is kinda confusing.

Pros: the portion size for the general Tso chicken at least was pretty good. It's not a lunch plate…read moreso obviously it's not meant for just one person. Nonetheless I ate a lot of it but there was still plenty to take home. Flavor and the type of heat was a bit different than I'm used to but overall I still liked it. Decent amount of tables. Cons: the pieces were inconsistent; there were pieces that had some decent crunch and pieces that had none whatsoever. Place could be a little cleaner and the menus could use some updating but nothing too crazy. Notes: they've been on my radar for the longest time and the one time prior that I came here I found out that they took General Tso off of the lunch menu. At the time I came just for that so it took me a while before I eventually came back. While I did say I liked the flavor, it's a bit less common than what I'm used to. Is that more authentic? I dont know just something to keep in mind.

Their entire menu is incredibly affordable (a la carte dishes are ~$12 and lunch special combination plates are ~$11 on average) with generous portion sizes. The general chicken is a MUST! Such a flavorful sauce. My order is not complete without this dish, there's really just nothing like it. I also highly recommend their spicy pepper ribs and mongolian beef. I'm pretty picky about chow mein and theirs is unmatched; I love the flavor and especially the thicker noodles they use. Service is always really quick, the staff truly treats customers like family, and the food comes out hot and fresh every time. It's an unassuming hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but such a gem! They have a loyal customer for life in me.

I decided to give M Kitchen Buffet a try after reading the Yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did. There…read morearen't a lot of great Chinese buffet options in the area, so I came in with reasonable expectations, and this place exceeded them. Before I get into the review, I think it's only fair to mention that I rate buffets differently than traditional restaurants. My expectations are based on other buffets, where freshness, consistency, food rotation, and value matter just as much as presentation. This feels more like a small, family-owned neighborhood buffet than a large commercial chain, and I actually think that's part of its charm. The buffet isn't huge, but I'd rather have a smaller selection that's done well than a massive buffet where half the food has been sitting under heat lamps for hours. I sampled most of the buffet, and overall I was impressed. My favorite dishes were the beef chow fun noodles, chow mein, honey pork, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, and the spicy chicken wings. The wings were especially good, they were nice and meaty with a great flavor and weren't loaded with fat like buffet wings sometimes are. Other solid choices were the sweet and sour pork, broccoli beef, and fried green beans. The only items that didn't really stand out to me were the vegetable egg rolls and crab rangoons. They weren't bad by any means, just average compared to the rest of the buffet. One thing that really stood out was how well the buffet was maintained. A staff member was constantly cleaning, rotating trays, and refilling food, so everything stayed warm and fresh throughout my visit. I never came across anything that was cold or looked like it had been sitting for a long time. The soda station was clean, drinks were self-serve, and the staff was friendly whenever I interacted with them. Most of the customers seemed to be ordering takeout rather than dining in, and after seeing the portions, I completely understand why. The takeout containers were packed so full they were almost difficult to close. For the price, the value here is outstanding. The only reason I'm not giving this place five stars comes down to presentation. The dining room itself is clean, but it's very simple. From the drink station you can see directly into part of the kitchen, and the plumbing underneath the soda and ice machine is exposed, which makes the restaurant feel less polished. I didn't see anything that made me question the cleanliness or food safety; it was more of an aesthetic issue than a sanitation concern, but it does affect the overall atmosphere. That said, when I judge this place as a buffet rather than comparing it to a full-service restaurant, the food quality, freshness, service, and value easily outweigh those cosmetic issues. Would I come back? Absolutely. If you're looking for an affordable Chinese buffet with consistently fresh food, friendly staff, generous portions, and flavors that honestly surprised me, M Kitchen Buffet is definitely worth checking out.

1/5 Extremely Disappointing. I Honestly Don't Understand the Hype…read more I decided to give Dave Wong's on W. March Lane in Stockton a try after hearing so much about this place, and I can confidently say I wish I had never stepped foot inside. From the food to the customer service, the entire experience was disappointing. The food was so unpleasant that I could barely stomach it. Fried Rice: Absolutely terrible. The rice was slightly soggy, bland, and tasted like plain white rice tossed with soy sauce and a bunch of dehydrated carrots and peas. There was no depth of flavor, no seasoning that stood out, and nothing remotely appetizing about it. Fried rice is one of the most basic dishes a Chinese restaurant should be able to get right, yet somehow this was a complete disappointment. Sweet and Sour Chicken: I genuinely don't know what they were going for with this dish. The sauce had a strange combination of flavors that reminded me of white wine, lemon, and honey, but without any real balance or richness. It was bland, oddly tangy, and completely underwhelming. The chicken itself was soggy, with some pieces having a slightly bitter aftertaste. Nothing about it tasted fresh or enjoyable. Sweet and sour chicken should have a nice balance of sweetness, acidity, and crispy texture. This had none of that. Garlic Chicken: This was probably the only dish that had any noticeable flavor, but unfortunately, it was practically drowning in grease. The chicken was so heavily battered that I could barely taste the actual meat. Every bite felt like I was getting a mouthful of oil, flour, and cornstarch. It was incredibly heavy, greasy, and unpleasant to eat. There is a difference between crispy, flavorful fried chicken and chicken buried underneath excessive batter and oil. This was definitely the latter. Customer Service: Unfortunately, the service didn't make the experience any better. The employees came across as rushed, unfriendly, and lacking basic customer service skills. There was very little effort to make customers feel welcomed. It felt more like they wanted to take your order, get your money, and move you along as quickly as possible. A simple friendly interaction can go a long way, but that was missing here. What makes this experience even more frustrating is how much hype surrounds this restaurant. I genuinely wanted to enjoy the food and understand why people recommend it, but after trying several dishes, I walked away completely disappointed. I've become increasingly disappointed with Chinese takeout restaurants in general, and unfortunately, this experience only reinforced that feeling. Too many places seem to rely on excessive oil, heavy batter, and bland sauces instead of properly seasoned, well-prepared food. Bottom line: Overly greasy chicken, soggy and flavorless rice, unpleasant sweet and sour chicken, and rushed customer service. I paid for a meal that I couldn't even enjoy, and I left feeling like I had completely wasted my money. I don't understand the hype, I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience, and I certainly won't be returning. One of the most disappointing Chinese takeout experiences I've had in Stockton.

The people that worked there were friendly. for lunch, I decided to try the seafood fish belly soup. I ordered a small, and I couldn't believe the size of that "small" bowl That came to my table. The soup was very good. It had a great flavor, and it had a decent amount of fish in it. I ended up bringing some of it home. They also had "shark Fin dumplings." shark fin is against the law, but these were imitation dumplings in the shape of shark fins. I didn't really care for them. The filling was OK, I believe it was pork mixed with a little bit of seafood. However, there was so much carrot and cilantro in them, that really took away from the flavor of the dumplings. After lunch, I got some dumplings to go. I got the fried stuffed dumplings, a beef tripe, a taro cake, a baked cocktail bun, and a bamboo delight roll. I liked the bamboo delight roll. It was a lighter roll, and it had a good flavor. I could definitely taste the taro in the taro cake, and the cocktail buns were decent sized, and just a little bit sweet. Unfortunately, the fried stuffed dumplings, and the beef tripe were not as successful. The fried stuffed dumplings tasted good, but they were unfortunately, a bit greasy. That took away from it. And I liked the texture of the beef tripe, unfortunately, it had no flavor whatsoever. I'm glad I tried the place, but I think because of the negatives, I don't think I'll come back. It was just an OK visit.
