Lunch specials 3/19/26

A truly satisfying meal. This used to be a regular spot for us when we visited our daughter in college. They always served up a wonderful meal. Turn the clock forward a decade and guess what, the food is still outstanding and the service is still attentive and kind. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive for us so we were good and hungry when we got into town. The owner greeted us warmly and a friendly server (her son), came by to help us. We decided to order: Hot & sour soup - heaven in a big bowl. Savory broth filled with delicious ingredients. It was well flavored, not too spicy or tangy Mu shu chicken - 4 pancakes with hoisin sauce. Our server wrapped our first ones for us. The dish contained the typical scrambled egg, sliced cabbage, protein, etc and it was fresh and tasty Beef with asparagus -noted in the entry that asparagus was in season so we had to order it. Meat was tender and the asparagus was cooked beautifully House chow mein - Fried perfectly and not doused in a bunch of sauce or oil. The protein on this dish was plentiful and it was simple and delicious. I loved how they didn't add chives/green onion to these dishes. The hot & sour soup had a few little green onions for color but this is the first time I've been to a Chinese restaurant that doesn't overfill the dishes with onions (as I don't like onions). Maybe that's the reason I enjoyed everything so much. Portions are very generous! We had lots of yummy leftovers. Our server told us that two of his brothers were the chefs. My kudos to them; they certainly know how to cook!

We came here for a small family reunion dinner, and both the food and service delivered. The portions were generous, which made it easy for our group to share a wide variety of dishes. We started with the crab puffs (basically crab Rangoon), which came out hot and crispy with a creamy filling. The sizzling rice soup was a highlight--comforting, flavorful, and always fun to hear that signature crackle as the rice hits the broth. For the mains, we ordered quite a spread. The house chow mein was flavorful and satisfying, while the honey walnut shrimp was a crowd favorite--crispy, lightly sweet, and perfectly coated. The eggplant in garlic sauce was another standout, tender and rich with garlicky flavor. We also had the Mongolian beef, shredded pork, house chicken, and fried rice, all of which were solid and well-prepared. There were 14 of us seated across two tables, and the staff accommodated our special requests with no issues at all. Service was attentive and efficient throughout the evening, which we appreciated given the size of our group. The space itself is a bit on the smaller side, but they handled our large party smoothly. Overall, a great spot for a casual gathering with plenty of shareable dishes and friendly service.

Found this floating around the Internet

Literally have come here for a long, Long, while. To say the food is premium would be simplistic and naive. The food resembles less, that of s standard American restaurant, but more of a Chinese home in that region. The Kim chi is, muah! Beautiful! Excellent, the rice, the noodles, snd soups! Local critic and connoisseur, Flex, is a hard critic, honest, but gives credit where credit is due. The score given is 10/10. And that's not being generous. The staff is generous, snd the food is real. Enjoy Found this ad floating around online

I don't even know where to start‼‼‼‼This place is THAT good. Honestly, I refuse to eat at any other Chinese restaurant after coming here. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and made to perfection every single time. You can truly taste the love in every dish, and that's what makes it stand out. It's a family-owned spot, and they put real care into everything they serve. Every visit feels warm and welcoming, like you're getting a home-cooked meal rather than takeout. And let's not ignore the fact... the chef? Yeah, definitely easy on the eyes too! ‼ Oh let's not forget the home made potstickers ! Made by amazing little chefs ‼‼‼ If you come here hungry, just know you're leaving completely satisfied, like full, happy, can't-move type of full. This place is a whole experience, not just a meal! Oh also if you looked at the picture ...I got you

Nice quaint & cozy ... best in the area !

Great food every week .... The chef is working his magic consistently! Yen du is the best Chinese restaurant in Stockton IMO so enjoy.

Grand looking interior. I can imagine it's ambiance coming here for dinner.

Hands down, Yen Du is our favorite Chinese restaurant north of San Francisco. From the moment you step in, you're welcomed like family--the owner/host at the front greets you with genuine warmth that sets the tone for the entire experience. The interior design is absolutely grand--a nostalgic throwback to the fabulous Chinese restaurants of the '80s and '90s, where dining in was an event, not an afterthought. Service? Impeccable. Andy is a total standout--friendly, attentive, and always on point with recommendations and timing. You feel looked after without ever being rushed. Now the food--chef's kiss. I'm not a big veggie fan, but their string beans and beef made me a believer. Perfectly cooked, savory, and bursting with flavor--this dish alone is reason enough to come back. Their hot and sour pork is bold, balanced, and hits all the right notes. And don't even get me started on the chicken wings--they're that good. Think San Tung in SF, but without the wait and with friendlier vibes. If you're looking for a place that serves outstanding Chinese food with heart, soul, and style--Yen Du is it.

Spicy assorted vegetable noodle soup! (comes with meat if you want it). So good!

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Stockton! I've been going here for over 20 years now and they've never disappointed. The food is tasty with big portions to share. The staff has been there for years and they're very friendly and family-orientated. The owner is great as well! I highly recommend. I wish they were open 7 days a week!

Since I didn't do a birthday dinner on my actual birthday, I decided to have my birthday lunch here today. We arrived right when they opened and missed the lunch rush by 10 mins. This places get pretty packed during lunch. It was our first time trying out this restaurant in the area and we enjoyed our experience here. We opted for the Mandarin Dinner option Y which is good for 4 people and cost $70. The following dishes are: Won ton soup Eggs rolls Sweet and sour pork Almond chicken Mongolian beef Assorted vegetables Steamed rice Food came out quick. They actually gave us a dish by mistake which was not part of what we ordered. Overall, we enjoyed all the dishes we got. Service was quick and friendly.

Does anyone know if they cater or provide party trays?

I don't know if they have party trays, but I have been there when different companies come to pick up lunch or work parties. They probably order three or four chow meins & rice and go to the .99 cent store and buy trays. I am sure it's probably…

Do they have banquet rooms that can fit 50 people?

Hello I've spoke with someone and they said they can hold a party of 50 except 30 will be inside…

Do they serve dim sum?

they don't

Everything had a unique sweetness to it including the California roll and crunch role, which my kids really liked. The Mongolian beef was very good as was the chowmein. The chowmein was light, not in a heavy sauce which was good. All the veggies and proteins were very fresh. The fish soup in hot broth was very good. The fish was tender but the only real flavor is hot chili... pretty one note, but if you like hot chili it's good. However it was also very hot not just spicy so it was hard to eat. It would have been good over some white rice. The food is good but the venue in general doesn't give off prosperity, at least during the day... things like a box of paper towels in the hall way and unpacking sodas and to go ware in the dinning area on the tables just doesn't make it feel very nice... but the food it very good. Feels more like a good take out place. Did notice a lot of door dash and it'd be good for a catered party. My kids also couldn't get over the AI rocker on the tv... Michael Bennett the AI classic rock singer. Overall I'd say this is a great to go place or place to pick up food for a party, just not a very nice place for a fancy sit down so the name is kinda confusing.

Pros: the portion size for the general Tso chicken at least was pretty good. It's not a lunch plate…read moreso obviously it's not meant for just one person. Nonetheless I ate a lot of it but there was still plenty to take home. Flavor and the type of heat was a bit different than I'm used to but overall I still liked it. Decent amount of tables. Cons: the pieces were inconsistent; there were pieces that had some decent crunch and pieces that had none whatsoever. Place could be a little cleaner and the menus could use some updating but nothing too crazy. Notes: they've been on my radar for the longest time and the one time prior that I came here I found out that they took General Tso off of the lunch menu. At the time I came just for that so it took me a while before I eventually came back. While I did say I liked the flavor, it's a bit less common than what I'm used to. Is that more authentic? I dont know just something to keep in mind.

Their entire menu is incredibly affordable (a la carte dishes are ~$12 and lunch special combination plates are ~$11 on average) with generous portion sizes. The general chicken is a MUST! Such a flavorful sauce. My order is not complete without this dish, there's really just nothing like it. I also highly recommend their spicy pepper ribs and mongolian beef. I'm pretty picky about chow mein and theirs is unmatched; I love the flavor and especially the thicker noodles they use. Service is always really quick, the staff truly treats customers like family, and the food comes out hot and fresh every time. It's an unassuming hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but such a gem! There…read morearen't a lot of great Chinese buffet options in the area, so I came in with reasonable expectations, and this place exceeded them. Before I get into the review, I think it's only fair to mention that I rate buffets differently than traditional restaurants. My expectations are based on other buffets, where freshness, consistency, food rotation, and value matter just as much as presentation. This feels more like a small, family-owned neighborhood buffet than a large commercial chain, and I actually think that's part of its charm. The buffet isn't huge, but I'd rather have a smaller selection that's done well than a massive buffet where half the food has been sitting under heat lamps for hours. I sampled most of the buffet, and overall I was impressed. My favorite dishes were the beef chow fun noodles, chow mein, honey pork, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, and the spicy chicken wings. The wings were especially good, they were nice and meaty with a great flavor and weren't loaded with fat like buffet wings sometimes are. Other solid choices were the sweet and sour pork, broccoli beef, and fried green beans. The only items that didn't really stand out to me were the vegetable egg rolls and crab rangoons. They weren't bad by any means, just average compared to the rest of the buffet. One thing that really stood out was how well the buffet was maintained. A staff member was constantly cleaning, rotating trays, and refilling food, so everything stayed warm and fresh throughout my visit. I never came across anything that was cold or looked like it had been sitting for a long time. The soda station was clean, drinks were self-serve, and the staff was friendly whenever I interacted with them. Most of the customers seemed to be ordering takeout rather than dining in, and after seeing the portions, I completely understand why. The takeout containers were packed so full they were almost difficult to close. For the price, the value here is outstanding. The only reason I'm not giving this place five stars comes down to presentation. The dining room itself is clean, but it's very simple. From the drink station you can see directly into part of the kitchen, and the plumbing underneath the soda and ice machine is exposed, which makes the restaurant feel less polished. I didn't see anything that made me question the cleanliness or food safety; it was more of an aesthetic issue than a sanitation concern, but it does affect the overall atmosphere. That said, when I judge this place as a buffet rather than comparing it to a full-service restaurant, the food quality, freshness, service, and value easily outweigh those cosmetic issues. Would I come back? Absolutely. If you're looking for an affordable Chinese buffet with consistently fresh food, friendly staff, generous portions, and flavors that honestly surprised me, M Kitchen Buffet is definitely worth checking out.

1/5 Extremely Disappointing. I Honestly Don't Understand the Hype…read more I decided to give Dave Wong's on W. March Lane in Stockton a try after hearing so much about this place, and I can confidently say I wish I had never stepped foot inside. From the food to the customer service, the entire experience was disappointing. The food was so unpleasant that I could barely stomach it. Fried Rice: Absolutely terrible. The rice was slightly soggy, bland, and tasted like plain white rice tossed with soy sauce and a bunch of dehydrated carrots and peas. There was no depth of flavor, no seasoning that stood out, and nothing remotely appetizing about it. Fried rice is one of the most basic dishes a Chinese restaurant should be able to get right, yet somehow this was a complete disappointment. Sweet and Sour Chicken: I genuinely don't know what they were going for with this dish. The sauce had a strange combination of flavors that reminded me of white wine, lemon, and honey, but without any real balance or richness. It was bland, oddly tangy, and completely underwhelming. The chicken itself was soggy, with some pieces having a slightly bitter aftertaste. Nothing about it tasted fresh or enjoyable. Sweet and sour chicken should have a nice balance of sweetness, acidity, and crispy texture. This had none of that. Garlic Chicken: This was probably the only dish that had any noticeable flavor, but unfortunately, it was practically drowning in grease. The chicken was so heavily battered that I could barely taste the actual meat. Every bite felt like I was getting a mouthful of oil, flour, and cornstarch. It was incredibly heavy, greasy, and unpleasant to eat. There is a difference between crispy, flavorful fried chicken and chicken buried underneath excessive batter and oil. This was definitely the latter. Customer Service: Unfortunately, the service didn't make the experience any better. The employees came across as rushed, unfriendly, and lacking basic customer service skills. There was very little effort to make customers feel welcomed. It felt more like they wanted to take your order, get your money, and move you along as quickly as possible. A simple friendly interaction can go a long way, but that was missing here. What makes this experience even more frustrating is how much hype surrounds this restaurant. I genuinely wanted to enjoy the food and understand why people recommend it, but after trying several dishes, I walked away completely disappointed. I've become increasingly disappointed with Chinese takeout restaurants in general, and unfortunately, this experience only reinforced that feeling. Too many places seem to rely on excessive oil, heavy batter, and bland sauces instead of properly seasoned, well-prepared food. Bottom line: Overly greasy chicken, soggy and flavorless rice, unpleasant sweet and sour chicken, and rushed customer service. I paid for a meal that I couldn't even enjoy, and I left feeling like I had completely wasted my money. I don't understand the hype, I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience, and I certainly won't be returning. One of the most disappointing Chinese takeout experiences I've had in Stockton.
