I've visited this place three times, and the first two times, it was so busy we couldn't even find a seat. This time, we got lucky and found the last seat available. It's not a place to rush; expect to wait for your food, but it's worth it because it's hot when served. Also they only had one server taking everyone orders and bussing tables, she was working very hard. We ordered fried chicken wings, dumplings, beef soup, and a beef wrap. I didn't like the beef wrap much because it had too little meat and was too fatty. The chicken wings and soup were good, but the boiled egg in the soup was overcooked. The dumplings were tasty but really hot, just like the menu warned! This is a place I would call a hole in the wall. It's very tight the food is good, but it's not a first date place. It's more chill and casual.

Dumpling U does not disappoint. The first time I stopped here, I ordered their House Special Beef Roll and a jasmine green tea and I thought it was pricy because it was well over $20 but when it came out, I realized how much I was getting for my money. The prices are totally reasonable here for what you get. I was also blown away by the preparation and flavor of the dish. As someone who has made scallion pancakes at home, I know you have to put in the time to get delicious layers like the ones on the food served here. The scallion wrap was crispy and fluffy and absolutely delicious! The sauce on the beef was really good too and I loved all the fresh cilantro. I wanted more because it tasted so good but I was just too full and that is a great sensation. I plan on stopping here until I have gone through their entire menu and so far I have not been let down.

We got the beef noodle soup and the stir fry noodle. Dessert: Matcha crepe cake. I think for most people, it will probably be good enough. But coming from SGV area in Socal, my expectations are high and it just doesnt compare unfortunately. Service is great! Our waitress checked in on us multiple times and asked if we needed anything.

Finally checked out Dumpling U and it didn't disappoint. The space is clean and inviting--great for a casual bite. What we ordered: 1. Deep Fried Shrimp Balls: Tasty shrimp filling with just the right amount of coating. 2. House Special Sausage Fried Rice: meal on its own! The Chinese sausage really makes this dish pop.  3. Pork Shumai: Standard but solid--definitely dip these in their house chili garlic oil to level them up!   4. House Special Pork Soup Dumplings: You can actually watch these being made fresh. Best enjoyed piping hot! Quick service, friendly staff and a great addition to the Stockton food scene. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Came here during the weekend. Was seated right away. The waitress was very kind and explained the menu to us. We picked an assortment of dishes to try. Each plate came out one at a time and was fresh. The food was really good. Flavorful and delicious. I was pretty impressed on how good the food was. After we were done eating I noticed a sign they had. They are the same business as the popular dumpling spot in Sacramento that I've frequented before that is award winning. This explains the authentic flavor. Staff was great. Medium size restaurant but had plenty of seating for us when we got there. Service was quick. The food was great. We'll definitely be coming back here again

Dumpling You rolls out a vibe that's cute, casual, and confidently operating in the "we know why you're here" lane. The team on deck is welcoming in that genuinely sweet, neighborhood-anchor way, and the elder iced tea moves at the speed of operational excellence--hit the table before I even finished my sentence. The pork shumai? A headline act. Juicy, well-seasoned, and steaming with enough swagger to justify the trip. The honey walnut prawns brought their own agenda--light, crisp, and so fresh they practically filed an HR complaint against my chopsticks. High-impact crunch, clean finish. The noodles landed in the "nice try, kid" category--serviceable but not portfolio-worthy. I wouldn't re-invest. And the pork bun, while sporting the right fluffy architecture, was understaffed in the filling department and could benefit from some resource reallocation.

C2. Pork Shumai is so soft and delish.

Came into this place to celebrate someone's birthday that's craving dumplings. Our server is very friendly and attentive to us. Has plenty of seatings. It's pretty comfy kind of place. The food is really good. The fried rice is a bit on the salty side. But the rest is very good. I'll recommend this place who's in town.

Ordered to go Through Yelp but hoping one day to Dine in to enjoy the soup dumplings fresh and hot I would've gave a 5 star due to food was great but when I walked in and saw dusty air purifiers everywhere in their dining area kinda glad I got it to go. Please clean your air filters. On to the food while on lunch wanted something delicious and this is the closes to journey to The dumpling I'll get. Flavors to The soup dumplings was ok but could be better will try the spicy one next time. But my favorite flavor was the spicy wontons I would choose that over and over again a favorite in my book. They vinegar soy sauce with spicy oil was great with it. Service was also great! Must try if you love dumplings

Who would have thought one of the best dumpling spots is in Stockton? We enjoyed our meal so much here and ordered: *House Special Pork Soup Filled Dumplings *Crab and Pork Soup Filled Dumplings *Tan Tan Noodles *House Special Beef Roll Everything was delicious. Don't skip the House Special Pork Soup Filled Dumplings, it's so good. The crab one was also good, lots of crab taste compared to other dumpling spots. Our waitress was very nice and service was quick. She was attentive and filled our water when we were low. Made small talk with her and overall it was a pleasant experience. There were special items posted on the wall. Can't wait to come back when we're in the area.

The outward appearance is unassuming. On their outer window there is a picture of their 2024 rating showing that they placed 3rd for best Chinese restaurant in the Top 100 in all of the U.S.A. Let me tell you I believe it. The service was outstanding. Kind and courteous. Very attentive to our needs. We never felt overly pestered or left alone too long. Perfect balance. The food was spectacular. I have tried soup dumplings, crab rangoon (they call it cheese rangoon), bao buns, and Sezchuan style wontons in several states and these were the best by far. I almost forgot to take pictures until we were almost done. They brought their family recipes from Shanghai if I am remembering correctly according to our server. The entire experience was stupendous. We will be returning when next we are in California.

Service was so welcoming and nice. Place was very clean. Food was 5 so delicious. Recommend everything we tried especially the soup dumplings, the Shanghai Noodles and the Garlic Broccoli. The servings are definitely family sized so keep that in min

I came here to try this dumpling spot out. We went towards the end of the night and it was still pretty busy. The business seemed to have a variety of groups from couples to big families. The food came out quick. It wasn't the best food, but it wasn't terrible either. I don't know if we would come back, but I would give it another chance before deciding if I was not truly a fan.

4/5 stars for Stockton standards, but 3/5 for Bay Area standards. It's nice that Stockton has a restaurant like this here! Ordered the jjajang noodles (black bean noodles, but this is Chinese style and not Korean!), house special pork soup dumplings, and the pork shumai. Everything was just okay. None of the items had anything special to them but none of them were bad either. I've just had better! The jjajang noodles were cooked al dente, had a nice chew to it and the sauce was slightly savory. I wish that there was more minced pork in the sauce but that's just a personal preference. Came with an ample amount of shredded cucumber which I appreciated. The chili oil that they offer on the table needs to be spicier though! The house special soup dumplings were delicious! No notes, I highly recommend everyone get these. The temperature inside was just right, not burn your mouth hot but just hot enough to still feel that epic satisfaction in your chest like a warm hug. The soup was savory and the minced pork inside was juicy. The pork shumai was nothing special. You could tell they were frozen and they just steamed them, definitely do not think these are made in house. This is my favorite item to get at dim sum, and I didn't care for these. You're better off going to the asian grocery store and buying yourself a pack of 12 for way cheaper than these 4 for $9! However, if you're too lazy to do that then these shumai will satisfy your craving. Service was exceptional! I personally won't be back because I've just had better, but if you're new to the dim sum and Chinese food world, you'll definitely enjoy dining here!

The Shanghai noodles are decent. Dim sum is mid. Other food was mid. We accidentally got served a cold short rib dish.

Turn the clock forward a decade and guess what, the food is still outstanding and the service is still attentive and kind. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive for us so we were good and hungry when we got into town. The owner greeted us warmly and a friendly server (her son), came by to help us. We decided to order: Hot & sour soup - heaven in a big bowl. Savory broth filled with delicious ingredients. It was well flavored, not too spicy or tangy Mu shu chicken - 4 pancakes with hoisin sauce. Our server wrapped our first ones for us. The dish contained the typical scrambled egg, sliced cabbage, protein, etc and it was fresh and tasty Beef with asparagus -noted in the entry that asparagus was in season so we had to order it. Meat was tender and the asparagus was cooked beautifully House chow mein - Fried perfectly and not doused in a bunch of sauce or oil. The protein on this dish was plentiful and it was simple and delicious. I loved how they didn't add chives/green onion to these dishes. The hot & sour soup had a few little green onions for color but this is the first time I've been to a Chinese restaurant that doesn't overfill the dishes with onions (as I don't like onions). Maybe that's the reason I enjoyed everything so much. Portions are very generous! We had lots of yummy leftovers. Our server told us that two of his brothers were the chefs. My kudos to them; they certainly know how to cook!

Saturday, December 27th, 2025, Approx. 12:57 PM…read more QUICK SUMMARY: Delicious Bang for the Buck. A definite try !!! It was a lazy Saturday afternoon after Christmas, and I wanted to try some new Chinese food in North Stockton. This venue had good reviews on Yelp & Google, so I decided to give this place a try and order take-out food. The menu had some daily lunch specials for under $11.00 and this was the route I took. PROS: - Had the Pork Chow Mein, House Chicken & Mongolian Beef. All were delicious. Was surprised at how spicy the Mongolian Beef was, but this was the best of the three dishes. The Pork Chow Mein was well garnished and visually appealing. The House Chicken had the most volume, but I believe that the chicken had been fried some time prior to my visit, and was warmed up / had finishing touches applied, upon receipt of my order. - While waiting for my order I noticed the tasteful interior decor, which gives off a nice dining atmosphere. Especially if one were only ordering a lunch special, it would be a great environment to enjoy your $10.95 & CA State Tax meal. - Further to the above, the prices are a BARGAIN in this era of high inflation. Even the non-lunch special items only go for $12 - $13 bucks. CONS: - The Fried Rice which came with the meal was below my expectations, as it only is white rice with soy sauce and fried eggs sprinkled on top. (See attached pictures.) NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: C'mon folks, I know that you're trying to keep overhead low, but this is not fried rice in any shape or form. Better to just serve white rice and not serve fake fried rice. CONCLUSION: If they had proved better Fried Rice in my order, I'd give this place 5 Stars. But for the price I paid for my meal, I was very satisfied. Thus. if you're in on Hammer Lane and want a good Chinese meal for your hard earned money, this place is an excellent go-to option.
