Though, the servers were pushy, the food was delicious. We got the shrimp dumplings, fried shrimp balls, and egg custard tarts. They were all very yummy. You can either order from the dim sum menu or the regular one. But if you want both, you do need to ask for the other menu. We figured this out after we had already ordered from the dim sum menu. We also ordered two lunch specials. They were also tasty. The place is very spacious and has a lot of Chinese decor. My experience was not as enjoyable, because of the staff,though. Husband and I went out for lunch with recommendations to try this place and ordered from both menus (ask for both). Food quality was inconsistent, especially for being right after opening at 11am. Food: Hong Kong noodles - hot (best item) BBQ pork buns - cold Pot stickers - hot Siu mai - warm to cold Spareribs - warm Service: The staff made the experience awkward and uncomfortable. We also felt pushed about tipping. After taking our payment, they never returned with our change, so we ended up leaving an $18 tip, which felt forced--especially given the food temperature issues. We had my wedding here and though there was some issues with a few servers, my wedding was a night to remember. There are a lot of things to remember from a wedding and the food is definitely one of them. Thank you for delicious food. The food here is really good, portions are huge! Fried garlic chicken never misses, we also had the orange & lemon chicken both super good as well. Their fried rice is good for rice, but what I do need to recommend is their BEEF CHOW FUN!!! Absolutely amazing, very slept on. The service is good, pretty fast for the most part. Sometimes certain things come out a little cold, but overall decent customer service. Not the biggest fan of individual soda cans and lack of refills, but with the amount of food you eat here probably good to not have too much carbonation. I love China Palace, but after coming for years I've learned the experience can be hit or miss. They can get VERY busy so you want to plan accordingly whether you plan to dine in or grab takeout. The parking lot is great in the plaza, the restaurant is a lot bigger inside than you'd think and the staff are generally very nice and welcoming. On our latest visit we were seated right away- on a Saturday at 12:30pm- and immediately they had dim-sum carts at our table with options. This is my first experience with the dim-sum carts since the pandemic and my first time back at China Palace in as long. I love seeing the options, but there's always uncertainty if I should specially request other dishes that aren't on the cart or wait until they organically come out. This time we got shrimp and chive dumplings, fried stuffed dumplings and Shumai off the cart immediately and then ordered a full order of potstickers. We had mentioned to one person we were looking for sesame balls and steamed pork buns, but by the end of our meal we didn't see them come through and didn't have another opportunity to make the request. Maybe it was a good thing though, after we ate our original selections we were already stuffed. We tend to over order and have leftovers, but this time we had the perfect amount. I'll admit, I would have made room for a sesame ball though. This is a great spot for dim-sum and other great Chinese dishes. Grabbed a late lunch on Tuesday afternoon and they were pretty busy. We were able to order from the dimsum menu and everything satisfied our cravings. The chow fun was flavorful. Pork turnovers were huge and tasty. Their shrimp balls did come out cold though. They looked hot but the moment I grabbed one, I knew they must've just pulled them out of "storage". The haw gar was a little thick for my liking as well. The prices are a bit higher compared to other dim sum restaurants. Some of their dim sum dishes are $7.99! They do offer a traditional Chinese menu and lunch specials seemed to be popular amongst other tables. I saw a few of them pass by and the portions are huge! After grocery shopping at Winco, I took a chance to see if China Palace was open and it was! Not too smart coming here to pick up some "snacks" before I had coffee or breakfast! The TO GO deli section of the restaurant was opened at 11am Custard tarts (crust little too thick for me) custard bun is very good, chai sui bun (too salty) and the pretty flower buns were weird.. with hot dogs. I also picked up rice noodles with beef (not pictured), it was good but had some very tough chewy green onions (not edible) and a lot of white onions. I had bought some pork filled, deep fried dim sum, but I gave those away before taking a pic. I'll call myself a glutton for punishment. I should have known better than to come back here for a second time. The first time I went, it was for Dim Sum. Be careful with this place. They have what I'd call sympathetic prejudice. If you look closely, you'll notice they seat Chinese people in one area and everyone else outside. They serve the Chinese customers first and then bring all the cold dishes to everyone else. This might be cultural, but it results in poor service for anyone who isn't Chinese. I had to tell the server several times to bring me hot food, like she did for the other chimese people. When she finally realized what she was doing, she stopped, but we had already eaten four or five cold dishes by then. My wife and I picked up and left. A few months later, I decided to give this place another shot for lunch. They have takeout. The portions were big, and they charged me thirteen dollars for lunch. But I got sick from the food because it probably sits under lights for too long. I also suspect they serve different portions to different people. When they want to get rid of old food, they have no problem dumping it on your plate, which can make you sick. As far as I'm concerned, China Palace is off my list. I will probably never go there again. Be careful with this place. If you're the wrong color, you might get served the wrong food. read more

I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid and it is still one that I go to today. If you want some good dim sum in Stockton then this is one place you can definitely go to. This restaurant is also convenient for me since it is so close to my house. I usually order garlic pea sprouts, shrimp dumplings, shrimp chong fun, and chicken feet. I actually like their custard buns when they are hot out of the oven and my siblings will eat a lot of the BBQ Pork Buns. I really enjoy having their food. Fun fact is that I actually had my wedding at this restaurant and so did my aunts. It is a great place to hold big events that includes food along with it. The manager tries and work with you to help lower down the price too. The only reason why I gave this restaurant a 4 star was that on my wedding they didn't really follow my instructions. I wasn't able to eat all the food that I spent money on. The table with people that are vegan were given meat. Also the bridal party got served last. The environment is very homey though. Wedding Review Ok so I recently did my wedding here and I have to say i was disappointed. First they had a lunch event right before our event and did not had adequate time to set up. I feel like if you're booking a weeking you shouldn't book anything else that day. When my family arrived to start set up at 3 (the earliest they told us we could be there for an event that start at 5) the tables weren't even out). They had to move the tables from the separate entrance before we could even begin setting up. And people started arriving before set up was done. The chairs were bare and did not have a seat cover like they do in their pictures. And their sweetheart take was just a table in the middle (there was no food being served to the table btw) They also take forever to bring out food. (8ish?) My guest ate everything off the dessert table. I would probably provide My own appetizer during cocktail hour next time. We were in need of 1 extra table which I didn't think was a big deal since they said they would have 3 tables on stand by if needed (which they said they wouldn't charge us for, but did anyway) Make sure someone counts the money with them several times they tried to say we were short when we weren't. (Both when I paid half the amount and the final amount the night of). They started closing their barriers at 10pm (we had place until midnight), so the rooms was being closed off. They were just rude over all. Not a great to treat your customers when they spend 11k. The good is that we were able to bring our own alcohol. Typical order for Mother's day dim sum. Lady manager told us "ready in 15 min" (great!) Drove there to find parking lot full and line of people out the door. Went past the seating line, to the crowded pickup section where people were waiting for their order they made yesterday on the phone. Waited in line to pay for 15 minute pickup order and never got my receipt from the lady manager. Waited another 15 minutes for my receipt paper. Logged into my bank and showed the clerk my charges so i can get my paper receipt, which he then said the manager will take care of you...Waited another 15 min for my paper receipt and had to show the manager my bank charges for her to start bagging my order...After 15 minutes, she says my order is ready and tells me to check my own order?!? She bagged the wrong orders, and replaced with correct ones. I left, reminding myself to do this Yelp review smh. Visited China palace today (Saturday) for dim sum. We were seated next to ballroom which was occupied by a party. Dim sum cart never really made it our way without us asking for it. And by the time it would get to us everything good was taken. Food was cold. I had to get up from my table to ask a waiter to come take our orders. We weren't given water we had to ask for it. When we finally got some food they were trying to rush us out of our seats so they can seat other people.
