    Wonton Soup.
    D.wight L.

Hilariously old school name, wreaks 60s-70s uhmurica. But the peeps here seems to have Cantonese cred. Not high end banquet material but serviceable for most suburban palates. Picked up a call in order as this is my aunts local takeout spot. I glanced at the interior and the place looks seriously old school. Like how divey places in Chinatown SF used to look back in the 70s-80s. They do all the canto classics and even have dim sum (which the locals vouch for), and a few Chinese bbq items which sound like can be quite limited. The hot deli case when I arrived on a late afternoon didn't really have much going on. Won Ton Soup ($14/4*) Totally reminds me of the won ton soups I grew up with. Broth had good viscosity definitely layered, not monotone like most modern soups. Not salty at all which was redeeming yet surprising. Wontons were super soft (too soft for me) but the pork flavor delivered with a nice sesame oil finish. Only a few cut pieces of baby bok choy garnish. May try the Wor Won Ton next time around. House Special Fried Rice ($14/3.5*) Definitely hearty with chunks of whole shrimps, chicken and bbq pork. Rice darkened with soy and did not clump so tossed in a wok properly. Gotta eat it warm/hot tho as when it cools the rice kernels get kinda tough, like resumes being leftover rice. But when warm is kinda protocol fried rice texture. Sauteed Rock Cod with Tender Greens ($17/4.5*) Probably one of my current go-to picks when I'm delving in Cantonese fare. Love how the fish filets are so tender (velveted) and seasoned so minimally that the fish just shines. The sauce is a little sticky but still remains quite translucent and unobtrusive. I prefer a little more slivered ginger but totally a personal preference. Baby bok choy are the 'tender greens' and were cooked perfectly. This can remain a staple for me. House Special Chow Mein ($14/4.5*) I didn't think I was going to love this but I did. Thick lo mein noodles were so QQ and totally absorbed the wok hei and sauce that cooked into the noodles. Not the prettiest but the chef showed me he's from the old school which is a dying breed. But to have been able to taste this type of skill again brought some joy to me, even as leftovers. Next time I visit my aunt and uncle, I'll try and do a sit down meal here as to meet the people behind this gem. I wish there were more places like this in the Bay Area where I live. But that generation that were able to execute this type of cuisine I'm afraid are mostly gone. Round up to a fiver for transporting my taste buds back in a foodie time machine. That's gotta count for something amirite?!

THE CHEF IS FROM SAN FRANCISCO, SO YOU KNOW THIS SPOT IS AUTHENTIC! Opened in 2020, this business is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED, this is the best dim sum spot I've tried in the 209! Unfortunately prices are similar to San Francisco too, so don't expect dirt cheap prices but for the quality and taste you cannot beat it. And the service is actually so attentive and friendly here! Dim sum all day, but if you order dim sum after 3pm then it's an additional +$1 on all items. Everything is made fresh to order and comes out PIPING HOT! [Beef chow fun $17.99] had a great wok hei flavor, don't be afraid to add soy sauce and chili oil on the table since it does need a bit more salt but the noodles are not overcooked in the slightest and the bean sprouts still have a nice crunch! Good flavor overall, I would get this again [Siu mai $7.25] and [har gow $7.25] were SO GOOD, nice meaty bites, seasoned really well and the wrappers were not overcooked, highly recommend. [Deep fried shrimp balls $8.25] were SO crunchy, crispy, a huge amount of shrimp inside, my mouth is salivating just thinking about it. Definitely need to add soy sauce and chili oil though [Bbq pork cheung fun $7.25] were GOOD! The pork inside is flavored so well and the rice rolls were chewy and not overcooked either! The sauce they add on top is also perfect, would definitely get again Pass on the [deep fried meat dumpling $5.45], the dough on the outside was a bit too dense and overly thick, almost bread like which I didn't enjoy. I wish it had a more mochi-like texture [Shark fin dumpling $7.25] had too much glass noodles inside, I thought it was still raw at first, but it was just a little mushy because of there being less protein inside. Pass [Salt and pepper wings $9.99] were okay, needed more salt and pepper flavor but they were cooked well! Would not get again [Bbq pork bun] was soft, crispy because of the sugar crumble topping and was so savory because of the delicious bbq pork inside! Highly recommend. [Salted egg yolk custard bun $8.25] were so fluffy, heavy on the egg yolk flavor, grainy but still smooth at the same time, really really good and highly recommend this decadent dessert. We also got these [deep fried custard dumplings] that had the same texture as the meat fried dumplings, except it had the most fragrant custard inside! Highly recommend. So glad we have something like this in Stockton, I'm definitely coming back!

Not gonna lie I think this is probably 209 best dim sum food was taken promptly after seated and food came out fast for a party of 10 we order so much food sorry not all food plate was taken but we order dim sum and à la carte dishes. If you're looking for dim sum look no further. Trust me stop looking and go here and eat.

Shoutout to Stockton, CA. Oriental Chef restaurant. I went for dinner with a large group of people. The majority of us never ate there before. So we were going in blind. We ordered multiple dishes.. The end verdict was ... the food was OMG delicious. Classic Cantonese. Anyways... onto the food. +Pork soup- it was simple and a good start to our meal. +Steamed sea bass - dished out from their tank. Steamed to perfection, topped with oil and sauce. Served whole. This was one of my faves. +Lobster-stir fried, chopped pieces. The lobster sauce was so yummy, you might find yourself licking the shell. +Sautéed greens- classic execution and flavor. +Chicken and green beans in black bean sauce-wok fried chicken and blistered green beans with that salty, deep black bean flavor. Mmm. +Beef and asparagus- tender slices of wok fried beef and asparagus in a light gravy sauce. Yum. + Roast duck- they only had half left. So if your heart is set on one, call ahead with your reservation. The duck was roasted to perfection having a classic crisp skin with deep flavors, moist succulent meat. +White cut chicken- a classic dish prepared well served with ginger oil. +Fried boneless chicken- Cantonese style fried chicken with its thick, fried crispy exterior and moist chicken. Eat this hot and fresh! +House chow mein - with thick noodles. Perfectly cooked noodles. A classic comfort dish prepared spot on. +Chicken salad with shredded chicken and jellyfish- shredded white cut chicken with shredded lettuce and jellyfish. The execution was a bit off; I tasted bit of shard bone. The customer service is attentive and polite with cool aloofness. However, the restaurant itself and the shopping plaza has definitely seen better days and could use a refresh. It has a neglected look. It tugs at my heart since I remember when this shopping plaza was first built.

Food was delicious. Very busy though! Came around noon and it was packed. Service is not bad for how busy it is.

On weekdays, dim sum is ordered by marking items on the menu instead of having carts come by. Everything is cooked fresh, so dishes come out in waves rather than all at once. That's a plus in my book, but something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry. A few dim sum items are also only available on the weekends. On weekends, there's a bigger selection and the carts are back, which feels more like the classic dim sum experience. The siu mai didn't quite meet my standards, but overall the quality and flavors were solid. We also ordered from the regular menu and really enjoyed the salt and pepper chicken wings, crab and fish maw soup, chow mein, orange chicken, and scallops fried rice. The only real downside is that they still use Styrofoam containers for takeout, which was disappointing. Other than that, the food has been consistently good.

I've dined in and also ordered to go. When I'm craving duck or dim sum, I order from here. They give you generous portions. I need to try more dishes to really review this place.

Oh my goodness... after Covid happened and with inflation I noticed dim sum places like china palace and dynasty started making their dim sum portions A LOT smaller, however not this place!! Dim sum size was huge or should I say like normal again! Flavor was good as well and decent prices. This place is a bit hidden tho. Only issue I had was that it could have been a little cleaner. Need to clean front doors and small little things, can make a huge difference when dining!

Much improvement and the food was fresh and hot. So much to choose from and the price is so good compared to my hometown and they Bay Area. We definitely will come back when we pass by Stockton.

Mongolian beef very good a must try
    Jeanette T.

Place was very busy. Inside packed with tables looks fairly clean. Served quickly and food arrived fairly fast. The pork fried rice tasted old. Very disappointing I wouldn't order the pork fried rice again. The Mongolian beef was very good the beef was NOT chewy and just the right amount of spice. The lemon chicken was cut into tiny bit size pieces but the flavor was undistinguished. I couldn't tell I was eating lemon chicken, it was a glazed unflavored fried chicken bite. Could have used more lemon flavor. The ginger chicken chow mein was also lacking flavor. Would have been really good with more ginger and maybe sou sauce. Hubby said shu mi was delicious. The steam egg custards were absolutely wonderful! Every bite full of sweet egg custard. The baked egg custard was delicious too just a little too much bread. The steam custard was 5 stars the baked egg custard was 4.5 stars. The fried rice would be 1 star for me. Lemon chicken would and a 3 star lacked flavor but nice fried bite size pieces. Loved they attempted making ginger chicken chow mein as it's not on the menu 3 stars for lacking flavor. Mongolian beef 4.5 stars great flavor and not a chewy piece to be had. Come here for the dim sum for sure!

Go to spot for dim sum in town! The food here is good, service is attentive and great, and there's typically not a long wait. A few favorites that I like to add on is Peking spare ribs and salt and pepper chicken wings. Solid dim sum spot that I recommend to others.

It was a 2 1/2 hour drive for us so we were good and hungry when we got into town. The owner greeted us warmly and a friendly server (her son), came by to help us. We decided to order: Hot & sour soup - heaven in a big bowl. Savory broth filled with delicious ingredients. It was well flavored, not too spicy or tangy Mu shu chicken - 4 pancakes with hoisin sauce. Our server wrapped our first ones for us. The dish contained the typical scrambled egg, sliced cabbage, protein, etc and it was fresh and tasty Beef with asparagus -noted in the entry that asparagus was in season so we had to order it. Meat was tender and the asparagus was cooked beautifully House chow mein - Fried perfectly and not doused in a bunch of sauce or oil. The protein on this dish was plentiful and it was simple and delicious. I loved how they didn't add chives/green onion to these dishes. The hot & sour soup had a few little green onions for color but this is the first time I've been to a Chinese restaurant that doesn't overfill the dishes with onions (as I don't like onions). Maybe that's the reason I enjoyed everything so much. Portions are very generous! We had lots of yummy leftovers. Our server told us that two of his brothers were the chefs. My kudos to them; they certainly know how to cook!
