From the food to the customer service, the entire experience was disappointing. The food was so unpleasant that I could barely stomach it. Fried Rice: Absolutely terrible. The rice was slightly soggy, bland, and tasted like plain white rice tossed with soy sauce and a bunch of dehydrated carrots and peas. There was no depth of flavor, no seasoning that stood out, and nothing remotely appetizing about it. Fried rice is one of the most basic dishes a Chinese restaurant should be able to get right, yet somehow this was a complete disappointment. Sweet and Sour Chicken: I genuinely don't know what they were going for with this dish. The sauce had a strange combination of flavors that reminded me of white wine, lemon, and honey, but without any real balance or richness. It was bland, oddly tangy, and completely underwhelming. The chicken itself was soggy, with some pieces having a slightly bitter aftertaste. Nothing about it tasted fresh or enjoyable. Sweet and sour chicken should have a nice balance of sweetness, acidity, and crispy texture. This had none of that. The soup was very good. It had a great flavor, and it had a decent amount of fish in it. I ended up bringing some of it home. They also had "shark Fin dumplings." shark fin is against the law, but these were imitation dumplings in the shape of shark fins. I didn't really care for them. The filling was OK, I believe it was pork mixed with a little bit of seafood. However, there was so much carrot and cilantro in them, that really took away from the flavor of the dumplings. After lunch, I got some dumplings to go. I got the fried stuffed dumplings, a beef tripe, a taro cake, a baked cocktail bun, and a bamboo delight roll. I liked the bamboo delight roll. PROS: - I love good fried chicken. But I don't want to spend big bucks at KFC or Jollibee. The Garlic Fried Chicken here costs a little over $10.00 and includes six (6) pieces of freshly made fried chicken. This is a GREAT deal. - Most of the entrees here are between $10.00 to $15.00. In this messed up economy, these are bargain prices, especially for the volume served. - Lots of parking. You can visit some of the retail stores nearby while waiting for your meal. CONS: - There were only two (2) people working there at the time. So it takes time for you to get your food if they're busy. Also as I mentioned above, since they served my fried chicken fresh, it takes a good 20 minutes to prepare. BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT, so no negative points on this. - In continuance of the above, if they're really busy, they might not be able to answer the phone right away. So you may need to hang up and try calling again during peak hours. But hey, with positive demand comes with demand for customer patience. - Like I said in the overview above, this is an actual hole-in-the-wall restaurant. So no dining tables, no chairs for customers sit down while waiting for orders, and no restrooms. But again, this is a hole in the wall, so it is what it is baby... CONCLUSION: You want lots of good Chinese food an affordable price? This is your destination. Just wait in your car till your order is complete.
