Always beautifully presented with julienned carrots and zucchini, sprouts, gosari namul, spinach, beef and topped with an over easy fried egg so that you can break it and have it spill over the food. Add the gochuchang sauce to add a bit of spice and elevated taste. Kimchi tofu soup is another go to with a slight mild. For those not looking for spicy I recommend the tofu and beef soup or whatever selection you choose with the white broth. The smell of the broth reminds me of thanksgiving in the best way filled with tofu, green onions, one egg and beef cut up in baby cubes. The ban Chan was okay. Gogi has been a go-to for me for some time now. One reason I love it is because they are very accommodating to larger groups. My latest visit was last night with a few friends. Since the portions are a very good size, we got a few items to share . We ordered the chicken fried rice, bulgogi beef, half sweet and spicy and half garlic fried chicken, and the spicy ramen with rice cakes and dumplings. Everything was so delicious! Between the sweet and spicy and garlic flavor chicken, I feel the sweet and spicy is definitely the standout. I did not get much of a garlic taste from the garlic chicken, but it was still very good. I didn't take too long but the lady tried to get me off the phone to decide. I was parked right outside and the restaurant wasn't busy so not sure why she couldn't wait a little bit. I ordered kimchi sundubu and pork yakisoba. The ban Chan was fish cake, kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and potatoes. The fish cake was decent and everything else was subpar. Cucumber kimchi was a little better than the regular kimchi. It was almost inedible in my opinion. I ended up throwing away the sundubu because it smelled like dog food and tasted weird. I was afraid it went bad. The yakisoba was decent but it tasted like the instant one you get from the store with pork added to it. Nothing special. They also gave raw greens with no dressing for it which I thought was weird. Very mediocre in my opinion. Can't comment on ambiance. read more

Wow, everything we tried here was absolutely fantastic! I've been overlooking this place for years and am glad I stopped by to try it out. The interior is actually pretty sizeable and all the tables are pretty spread out. The Soon Tofu Combo came with a generous portion of bulgogi that was cooked perfectly. It was evident that the bulgogi was actually grilled and not "boiled" like most other places tend to do. The seafood soondubu had a good amount of seafood (best part was a large, succulent shrimp) and the mild spice level did pack a punch. The galbi was excellent and flavorful. And the banchan was refreshing - we even asked for more halfway through our meal and the waitress gave us a complimentary refill. Prices are standard - around $20 for each dish around dinnertime. I've heard from others that the Korean fried chicken is good here. We've been wanting to try it for awhile and finally did. The price was reasonable but a couple dollars higher than their online menu. We got the half and half so that we could try two flavors. We got the garlic flavor and the sweet and spicy. The chicken was juicy and crispy but the flavor of the sauce threw me off. The sweet and spicy was a dark brown red color (I was expecting more bright red gochuchang color). It didn't taste spicy and the sweet flavor was so so. In my opinion the flavor is very muddled and not memorable. The garlic was a dark brown color but didn't have much garlic taste. Despite the chicken being fried decently, I just really didn't care for either sauce flavor. I feel like if they can improve on the sauce recipe it would make a huge difference. Their pickled radish seemed to be possibly homemade but was a very strong vinegar taste. I felt like it was missing something in the flavor of the pickling. In sum, the pricing is fair especially given inflation, but I would say it's competitors have better chicken. I don't plan on returning primarily because of the flavor of the chicken. read more

My Son and I were going to go to Phoenix Pallas for Dim Sum but, there was a line out the door. So we looked up Gogi, a Korean restaurant next door. Yes was my answer! So in good neighborly fashion, her and Michael W. arrived with a truckload of fried chicken. You must see the video of the wonderful flavors graced upon us; Spicy, Garlic and Original. *Spicy~if you can handle a 5 alarm fire in your mouth, this is the one for you. As we ate and drank wines,(yes plural) endorphins kicked in and buzzed we were. It was Spicy Hott! Be aware, delicious and plenty fire. *Garlic~chips of thinly sliced garlic infused this flavored chicken to the bone! It was a "watch out Dracula" event as the garlicky delicious taste oozed. Get this! *Original plain~tasty, but with the other flavors stealing the show, it was like Mike Tyson vs. Jon...no contest right? I mean, give jon credit...he did show up for the beating :p We devoured it non the less! Amazing too. A salad with tender escargot was also flavorful and added to the evenings consumption. Potstickers were plump and not overdone but gently fried and marvelous. How could we not be grateful for the terrific feast brought before us! I was really excited to try based on reviews, so my friend and I drove across town to try hoping to get some delicious dishes. However we were both very disappointed. We decided to share an order of the spicy rice cakes with ramen & dumplings , an order of vegetable tempura and a beef and brisket soup to help warm us up. To start the spicy rice cakes were decent, but lacked any real flavor or heat in the sauce , which was a disappointment. The vegetable tempura was delicious. It was hot and crisp when we received it and we really enjoyed it. Last, the beef and brisket soup was the most disappointing, it had no real flavor, and it was very under-seasoned. This was the biggest let down as other Korean soups and stews that I have had are usually really hearty and flavorful. I am really hoping that this was just a one off and hope to try the sweet and spicy fried chicken sometime in the future. read more

I had such an amazing experience here for years! Though I recommend calling in for reservations for bigger parties (6 and up). The overall service here's amazing when it's steady business. However when it gets busy I can tell they are trying their best to keep up with the constant rush. Just give them patience they don't forget about you! The music and lighting of this place is very relaxing. There's no windows that let in light but it makes sense since the building is always facing the sun. The food portions here are no joke! This place is great all-year long. Feeling hot? Get the cold noodle soup. Feeling cold? The tofu soup hits the spot. The whole menu in general is pretty great. My husband wasn't fond of the Bimbipap. The plate that truly shined for us was the Japchae. We went on a Saturday night & let me tell you it was packed! We luckily got seated in like 10 minutes and our food arrived in about 15 min or so. We would definitely come back for the Japchae. It also seems that they're most popular for the lunch specials. I had blown them off a few times for lunch but when they all said this was one of their favorite places, I just had to check it out. We were on a road trip and decided to stop in Chandler for some Korean fried chicken. Just WOW. Absolutely delicious food, I wish I had taken pictures because the portions were huge.
