Pretty friendly people, but the prices are not worth it. I came here, because Apple was booked out for weeks due to the new iPhone launch. My MacBook Pro's butterfly keyboard was stuck, so I popped out the keys to see what was wrong with it. I ended up not being able to put 4 keys (Tab, Spacebar, C, and D) back in, so I made an appointment at GoEBITS to fix it. They were the only ones who had an available same day appointment. Prior to my visit, I had done research. I saw articles online (including on the Apple website), stating that Apple will replace butterfly keyboards for free, because a lot of users were having issues with the keys being stuck. The owner looked up my serial number, and informed me that my warranty will not cover physical damage. I bought my MacBook late June of 2018, so I still had limited warranty on it. He told me that only AppleCare+ would cover the cost when it came to physical damage. I was skeptical, because if Apple is saying that they'll fix the keyboard for free, why is this authorized retailer not honoring it? There were plenty of articles stating that Apple will still fix your keyboard for free, even if you had already popped out the keys yourself. The owner informed me that it's a $49 charge for a mandatory diagnostic. Umm. I know that internally, my MacBook is fine. There's no need to run a diagnostic. Even if it's mandatory, it should be free. The Apple store DOES NOT charge you when they run a diagnostic. I asked the owner how much he thinks it'll cost to fix the keyboard, and he told me that he was unable to give me an estimate. He said that he would have to run a diagnostic first, and then he would be able to give me a quote in a couple of days. Lol. That seems pretty unfair in my opinion. What if someone got a quote a few days later after the diagnostic, and it ended up being out of their price range? They would be out of $49 for no reason. I took my MacBook back, and I informed the owner that I was going to be taking my MacBook to Apple. He replied with "Alright, you can try. I'll be surprised if they fix that thing for free under limited warranty though." I went to the Apple Store on the same day, and I did a walk in. It was a 6 hour wait time for an appointment, but I waited anyway. When it was time for my appointment, the Apple employee asked me what was going on with my MacBook. I had explained to him my situation with the butterfly keyboard, and how I had popped out the keys. The employee took down my serial number, and was shocked to find out that I had just purchased the MacBook recently. He said that he'll take care of the costs for me, and that the keyboard is still covered under my limited warranty. Wow. I was speechless. To think I was going to shell out hundreds of dollars to replace my keyboard at GoEBITS for nothing. The employee took my MacBook, and Apple is going to replace the entire keyboard for me. It'll take a week for it to get fixed, but they're doing it free of charge. They're even going to ship my MacBook, back to my house for free too. When I informed the Apple employee about the $49 diagnostic charge that GoEBITS was trying to charge me, he was speechless. Before the Apple employee took my MacBook away, he ran a diagnostic on it first. Did the Apple employee charge me anything to run a diagnostic? NOPE. Did the diagnostic show that there anything wrong with my MacBook? NOPE. Moral of the story is: Do your research before spending money on anything. It's also good to get a second opinion, before you pay for something that you might not need. The employees at Apple University Village are AMAZING, and they'll definitely try to help you save money. read more

The display on my new MacBook Pro kept failing when using any Adobe programs. I was able to book an appointment same day and they literally had it repaired & ready to go in 3 business days. Total scam. I brought in my 6-month old laptop with display issues. They told me they could get it turned around faster than the Apple Store could, and would deliver the same service, so I left it with them to get an estimate. They called me the next day and said there was a dent on the top that invalidated the warranty, and that the repair would cost ~$750 and take 5-7 business days. I knew there was no dent because the laptop literally just sits on my desk all day, so I declined and took my laptop back. I then took my laptop into the Apple Store. They looked at it and confirmed there was no damage, and that the display repair was fully covered under warranty. I ended up paying Apple $0 and got the laptop back in 2 business days. Literally, the only benefit of this place is that you can get same day appointments compared to the Apple Store which can take a few days to get in. There is a reason GoEBITS is immediately available and the Genius Bar at the Apple Store is a lot busier. read more

This place is great! Super fast and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, my 2016 Macbook Air has had major issues twice in the past few months but GoEBITS has fix my laptop in a matter of days. Most of the good reviews are spot one. Although not everyone will be satisfied and get their desired result, going here is better than the genius bar. Pretty quick and efficient on turnaround time. They deserve credit for that. I would say any pricing issues are not their fault. If you buy a Mac product, they are in general pricey for repair everywhere. Just like when you need a repair on your car, of course, it might be less expensive to do your own research and fix the problem yourself but it is a lot easier for many to just bring it to a shop and have someone else fix it. I needed my laptop fixed due to water damage. I felt the cost was a bit pricey however it was fixed very quickly, making it worth it! Certainly less time I would have wanted to spend trying to fix the problem myself or finding a less expensive solution. read more

My Apple laptop was swelling, and Apple genius appointments were scheduled a couple of weeks out. So, not wanting to risk the swollen battery doing more damage, I gave these guys a try. Wow! Got an appointment right away, dropped off my laptop and got it back 2 days later, good as new! Brand new battery and they replaced the bent keyboard and trackpad section. And they accept AppleCare, so it didn't cost me a dime. read more

This place is sketchy and a complete ripoff. Don't go here. I came here wanting to get a replacement battery for my laptop which was swelling up. It should have been a relatively simple and inexpensive job but my experience at GoEBITS was anything but that. When I first went to them, I asked for an estimate for the cost of replacing the battery but they refused to give one, saying that they needed to perform a diagnostic on it. This should have been a warning sign, but given the good reviews for this place, I decided to pay the $50 diagnostic fee since it would go towards the repair. After 5 days, I got a call from them saying that the laptop would need a battery replacement, which I clearly already knew, and a quote of nearly $300 for parts and labor. Not believing that a battery replacement would be this expensive, I asked around and got quotes of almost half the price at other places. I called the next day preparing to get my laptop back, but this time a different employee answered the phone and quoted me $150 for parts and labor. Since that was a fair price, I agreed to it. After the 4 days they said the repair would take, I called back to check in. I was told that the battery wouldn't ship till the end of the week but of course no one had bothered to notify me. I also decided to check that the cost for the repair was indeed $150, but the employee this time told me that it was the first price they had quoted, and not the $150 they last quoted. Of course I would not have gone through with it at the absolute ripoff prices they were charging. They came back saying that they would "honor" the $150 quote, but OH in that case the diagnostic fee would not apply. I was really sick of dealing with them by that point and just wanted my laptop back. So after nearly 2 wasted weeks and a whole lot of frustration my laptop hasn't been repaired and I'm out $50. Update: Jesper, the owner, reached out to apologize for my experience and refunded the $50 diagnostic fee I had paid. Apparently there was some miscommunication between the technician and the frontline employee with the price quotes. They also offered to take a look at the laptop again, though I have not taken them up on it. They do seem genuinely interested to fix things, though given my experience, I'm not sure if I would go back. read more

Do NOT trust this place with your computer. Brought my 27" iMac in for repair here in Sept 2020 because it suddenly stopped powering on. GoEbits said the machine booted fine for them but my hard drive was failing and needed to be replaced. I paid $600 to replace hard drive and transfer data. Everything was good till I went to pick up my machine and noticed the base had been damaged, the front right corner was bent up and scratched. I alerted the sales people, Brian and and James Kang and asked what happened. They kinda just shrugged at first like deers in the headlights, but James eventually stepped up and said there was no damage noted at the time of check-in so the damage must have occurred in their care. Gave me his card and assured me they'd figure out what happened and he would personally make sure it was taken care of. I told him I was moving to a different state that day, he said no worries they'd fix it. After weeks of back and forth and long stretches of no communication at all, I get a call today from Brian today saying they are not willing to pay for a full replacement of the base, so I can either ship it from Kansas back to Seattle and TRUST them to repair it and not cause further damage or they will give me a $200 credit. Here is why this is such BS- after I arrived at my new house in KS, 2000 miles, I plug in the computer and... it doesn't turn on! AND I notice even more scrapes and dents to the machine around where it was banged up. I took photos and emailed the tech, Juan, who "fixed" my machine and said what the heck did you do?! I ordered a replacement power cable just in case and what do you know- that fixes it. The ONLY thing wrong with my machine was a bad power cable. They had no clue. They said they won't pay for the additional damages I found because I didn't see them before leaving the store, even though the check in notes did not list any damage to any part of the machine. This is the biggest F-U of all though, I asked them how much it would cost to have a computer repair place in KS fix just the base. $300. They won't pay the extra $100 for me to not have to either mail it away and be without a computer for a month or pay out of pocket to get it repaired here. James, you gave me your card and your word. Shame on you, dude. If you are reading this- don't trust this place. I deeply regret giving them my business and my patience. read more

I am really pretty disappointed in eBits all around. First of all, they have two different locations - this one, and one in Capitol Hill. They are both run by the same owner, however - Jasper. Based on some of the reviews on here, I was hoping for a really good experience. My computer had been acting weird and I was worried I might have a virus. I took my computer over to them and paid the $49 diagnostic fee (which, if you choose to use their services, is deducted from your total) and the $35 rush fee so I could have a diagnosis within 24 hours. The first thing I noticed was that their contract, which you have to sign, includes a clause about not holding them responsible for "employee error." Really? If you're not responsible for your own employees, who is? They did not have the diagnosis to me in 24 hours, and it was actually several days before my computer was ready. (It was not a virus, incidentally - my hard drives were fried from the fan not working properly, so they had to replace those and the fan.) When I went in to retrieve it, there was one guy working. Although Patrick had assured me the night before that it would be ready for pick up first thing in the morning, I got there at 1pm and the invoice was wrong (they had not deducted the $49) and one of the hard drives had not yet been installed. The guy I dealt with was pretty flustered and kept taking phone calls while I stood there. He messed up the invoice again when reprinting it (adding the $49 instead of deducting it) and also struggled for a long time with a tab on the hard drive that he thought he was supposed to remove, but which was actually part of the drive. It cost me over $700 to have the computer repaired, and when I got home, I discovered that they had not installed the backup Outlook info to my computer. I called in and the guy working accessed my computer remotely and added the stuff, but not before many call backs (he kept having to go check things). When it was finally up and running, I discovered that they had not backed up my Outlook calendar or contacts, which are basically my lifeblood. They offered to send a technician to my house to fix the problem. The technician did come to my house on a Sunday, which was impressive, but he was unable to correct the problem and took the old hard drives back with him to work on at the shop. A day later, I still had not heard anything, so I called them to find out the deal. Jasper got on the phone and told me I have to drive down there with my laptop to have them install the info because they're too shorthanded to have someone come here. I feel like I ought to be billing them for gas and time spent at this point. Hopefully when I go by later today they will actually have the Outlook info ready, though I do have my doubts. It has now been almost five days since I paid that "rush" fee. Wonder how long they take if you don't. read more

I have to admit - I was really nervous bringing my laptop here after reading all the reviews. In my defense, this was right around the corner from the hotel that I was staying at for a work event and my laptop was having issues starting up. I called for an appointment and got really lucky that I was able to schedule something for the same day. After I dropped off my laptop ($49 diagnostic fee and $35 rush fee), the guy there was really friendly and told me that they would have a diagnosis within an hour. I went to a nearby cafe to wait - that's when I saw all of the reviews which made me a little panicky and hoped that I made the right decision. When I returned, it turns out that my laptop just needed a new battery and since I opted to use their services and have them change out my battery, my diagnostic fee was included in my total cost with them. This was last year that my computer wouldn't turn on and I brought it in. I waited for a week to get an estimate and figure out what went wrong and didn't get a call. I was fed up with waiting and decided to just get my laptop back. When I got there, they told me the problem (motherboard died!) and asked if I wanted to get it fixed which I didn't want to, I was just gonna buy another one. My laptop wan't ready and I had to come back later that day to pick it up. When I did, the manager called and was concerned about my satisfaction and I told him how I was waiting for a long time and didn't get a response. He waived my diagnostic fee. Nice right? NO. Recently, I had a friend get the hard drive from my laptop. He also discovered that my RAM was gone. ARGH! I don't know if they forgot to put it back or what, but that's not the kind work and attention that should be used for anybody's property. read more

Got the distinct impression I was being ripped off. My laptop died and I took it in for a diagnosis. Eventually they called to tell me the motherboard had died, and refused to answer my questions about whether or not the hard drive still worked. Since the laptop was essentially beyond repair, it seemed like they were trying to push an expensive data recovery so they could still extract money beyond the fifty dollar diagnostic fee. I also noticed that the contract that you sign when authorizing repairs is vastly different from the information posted on their website, which felt very bait-and-switchy to me. The contract is ultimately signing away any rights you might have--including specifically a clause which claims that any damage to your computer resulting from employee error is not their fault. This fortunately never came up (as rather than submit to pressure to pay several hundred dollars to recover data that, as far as I was aware, was perfectly accessible to anyone with a laptop), but it seemed highly suspicious. Overall the whole situation was extremely sketchy, and I opted to simply leave the laptop to their devices and write off the fifty dollars as a loss. If you must go here for laptop repairs, I recommend caution. read more

Having to take your laptop in for repair or recovery is never a good situation to begin with, but GoEBITS certainly helps take some of the edge off. I had to do a data recovery whilst visiting over a weekend from LA, and they really took care of me. My laptop had a broken AC jack, sent it in to repair and it took a month to fix. They told me it's because they had to order the part from China, fair enough. However when I got it back, the keyboard backlight wasn't working. When I opened up the laptop to check it out, I found that the keyboard backlight ribbon was completely detached, and it wouldn't go back in. I took it back in and they told me it was somehow my fault because I spilled water on it half a year ago and wouldn't replace it. Thanks. That would've got them 3 stars, what with them charging me 50 bucks for a used power adapter which I found out later could've gotten me brand new one. What really broke the camel's back was them selling me an underpowered power adapter. I didn't know this at the time, but using a power adapter that doesn't have enough power can severely damage your computer. It ends up trying to draw more power than the adapter can provide and overheats it. This ended up breaking my laptop yet again. This seems like an amateurish mistake, my power adapter clearly stated how much power it needs, and they gave me one that didn't meet it. I didn't know this at the time, and I shouldn't need to. They are the people that are supposed to know. I would give them -3 stars if I could, because I ended up right where I started, minus 300 bucks, minus a keyboard backlight. read more

Spilled coffee on my MacBook (oops!) and wanted to get it looked at as soon as possible. I was able to get an appointment the next day, unlike the Apple store whose next appointment was 3 days later. They do charge a diagnostic fee ($79), but the charge goes toward the cost of repairs, which ended up being about $600 for me. It was the same or much less than I would have paid through Apple (my apple care didn't cover liquid damage) since Apple generally just replaces parts like the logic board which eBits cleaned instead. Also instead of the 3-5 day turn around through Apple, I had my laptop back in less than 48 hours! read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would hit the infinity and beyond button! This past weekend I flew back home to Seattle for a short little vacation. While on my vacation I brought my laptop (Macbook Pro) into the bathroom with (like any normal person right?) and placed it on the sink to listen to music. Apparently I didn't push it in enough and my baby toppled down and my screen cracked completely. Needless to say I freaked out. HARD. While in my state of shock, my friend called around to not only the Apple store but about five different other locations to get a quote on fixing the screen before I left on Tuesday. Everyone's priced ranged from $500 to $900 and then extra fees for rush delivery since I was flying out the following Wednesday. Or if I decided I wanted it shipped to me they would have charged me an extra fee that was just ridiculous. My friend found this place, called me within minutes and said it was going to cost $200. DONE. I called them to ask a couple more questions and by the time I was done I felt so relieved. I spoke with both Jacob and the owner Jasper who were SO, SO nice to me and were understanding of my situation. To get to the key points not only was this place ridiculously cheaper in price than all other competitors and they finished my macbook pro faster than expected. To add an extra bonus on that, it was President's Day weekend so Jasper even got someone to come in overtime to fix my Macbook since I was leaving so soon. I can't say enough about everyone in the store and the owner Jasper for being so wonderful to me! It's crazy to think how much technolog ruled my life once I dropped my laptop... but eBits put the pieces back together in record time without burning a hole in my pocket. I have a year and a half old Sony Vaio that I might've abused a little too much, because I somehow not only broke my charger, but the jack on the computer where the charger plugs in as well. This all happened on a day when I had a project due in the evening, so panicking, I dropped off my totally dead laptop to eBits. It cost $49 for a diagnostic and $35 for a rush fee, but I was so desperate I paid it. I dropped off the laptop around 2 in the afternoon, got a call from Jasper around 5pm that same day, and got my laptop back by 7pm. The total cost of the repair was a little higher than I expected, but then again, I totally screwed up my laptop and they got it done so fast that I really didn't care. As a sidenote, I got a quote recently from another computer repair store and it was about the same price, but the other computer repair store would have gotten the laptop back to me in 3 or 4 days, and there was no way I could've waited that long. If you're in a rush and have a computer emergency, I'd say eBits is a good choice. read more

I feel if I had taken it to the genius bar, I would easily have been persuaded to get a newer model.
