I had a hot tub control board where the incoming 240v wire managed to get loose from the block and started generating heat damaging the terminal block and de-soldering it from the board. I brought the board with a new terminal block in and they were able to remove the old clamps and solder on the new block. They found some other corrosion on fuse connections that they fixed and they re-waterproofed the board. I would recommend this shop for anyone needing circuit board repair. read more

If taking in a vintage stereo unit you will need lot's of patience and it will be a coin toss on if you paid for a complete repair? Took my vintage stereo unit in back in covid 2021 with a electrical short , non working lights and poor signal responce. I was given a $385 estimate for the repair. After 3 months of phone calls I finally pick up the unit. They tried to switch the estimate price from $385 to $425?? I paided the $385 plus tax. Had the unit for a week and found that the unit still had the "loud crackling sound" where their was still a "short or bad capacitor" in the system? Told me to bring it back. Again calling for months(like pulling teeth), "be ready next week" which I heard at least a dozen times. After another 3 months I pick it up after paying another $120. Got it home and same thing, that it looks real pretty but can't play music without a loud crackling noise (Boat anchor). Wrote them a letter of how they should be ashame of taking money and "Not finishing the job". No response, but not suprising. Not honorable, and acking character!! You are taking your chances. I called to ask about their cleaning/repairing some top of the line vintage audio equipment from the 70's but never got beyond the hellos, as I asked whom I was speaking to, was asked my name, gave it, and then the response "what can I help you with?" I asked for a name again, and got the same "what can I help you with?" I asked why I couldn't know the name of the person I was speaking with (I'm of the old school where it is polite to know whom you are speaking to), and was hung up on. They lost my business, and are receiving a bad review. Times certainly have changed. I am going to ask my local Seattle Facebook professional musician friends (I'm a pro and have an outreach of hundreds of individuals) for their recommendation of a solid audio shop. read more

This is the way life should work... My 6-year old Gateway monitor wouldn't turn on without several on/offs, but once it was on, it was a great monitor, and I didn't want to buy a new one, especially since I'm old school and believe that everything that cost more than $10 should last at least ten years. Not to mention, all the electronic component pollution in the world is too much for me to contribute to in good conscience. So I start looking for a monitor repair facility (they're rare, apparently). One person referred me to another, who got on his computer and found AM Stereo & Video in Shoreline for me. I'm 30 minutes away, but it was a nice day and I wanted to rock the sunroof for a bit, so I drove my monitor over. The front of the shop is easy to miss when looking for it, and the reception area is tiny. But don't be thrown off by the small and disheveled appearance. These guys have been in business over 30 years, so I consider them an important piece of Americana, compared to the all-flash, no service box chains of today. I called a few hours later to check on the estimate, and they said they could replace the power supply for $75 + tax -- a great deal considering that there's nothing as nice as my monitor available for that price. I agree and they say they'll have it done by the end of the week. The next morning they call me and tell me it's ready, so I had my monitor back within 24 hours for half the price of buying a really garbage new monitor. They told me that they'd replaced the blown power supply AND replaced some cheapo components that would've gone out on me in the future...all for the same $75 + tax! As they put it, "it's better than new now." Now THAT is the way life should work. read more

They charged me $225 to replace a board on my LG Smart TV. Only worked for a month and is useless now. What a waste of money and time!

Had my tv just stop working one day and before going to walmart to shell out another 400-500 bucks I figured why not give these guys a try. My TV would not turn on one day, and I was worried I would have to buy a new one. Based on my description, they gave me a quote, and then called me before they made any repairs to make sure I was willing to pay what they quoted. A $100 repair was much cheaper than buying a new tv, so we went ahead, and everything worked as planned. I would take my electronics back there again. read more

My LG smart tv had the screen go out last Thursday night. After calling LG and being referred to TK Electric, my short evidence experience with them told me I should look elsewhere. I brought in a piece of brewing equipment with a water damaged circuit board, and these guys were able to repair it in no time so it could be put back into circulation at my place of business. The interaction was pleasant, simple and clear, and I was so happy to support a local and smaller family business. They also gave me a fantastic repair deal when my only other alternative seemed to be to replace the whole unit. Saved me a great deal of money. I had a $600 ride on vehicle that my son loves that was dead and no one would touch it. Mike took it on and made it better than before. The service was ok until this happened. It took about 1 week to replace LCD screen. First time they contacted me they said it was the mother board then the second time they said it was the LCD screen. I stop by to pick up my TV after paying about $225. The shop doesn't have the best lighting and as soon as I walked out to my car which was about 8ft away I notice in the sun that there was about a four inch brush scratch on the screen so I immediately call the guy out and he said they try their hardest to not damage things but I shouldn't be able to see it when the tv is on and that was it. I'm rating this place a one star and will not return as a customer or recommended to anyone because of how poorly this situation was handled. My "New TV Screen" randomly dims ever since the repair but I won't even bother going back there again. The repair, time and customer service was terrible. read more

My 2001 27" Sony Trinitron (crt) tv went dead a few days ago, with no picture or sound, nothing but a blinking red light on the front. I called these folks, and they said it would probably cost $100 - $120 to fix, and to bring it in for a free estimate. I took it up there today, and by the time I got home there was a message waiting for me. The power supply had blown out, taking several circuit board components with it, and it would cost $110 plus tax to fix. It just so happened that it was a slow day in their shop, and because they had all the needed components on site, and they had no high-priority jobs, and the tv was already open, they were willing to fix it right then and there. I gave the go-ahead. It landed up being exactly 2 hours from the time I dropped it off to the time I picked it up. Wow! He said that he's fixed a lot of this particular issue for that era of Sony, and that with these fixes, the tv should last a good many more years. I like the picture on this tv much better than what I've seen in the equivalent size LCD, so am very happy with this shop. They also fix LCD tvs and monitors. The replacement cost was about the same as buying a new LCD TV, but i love this stupid Panasonic Plasma TV. Free estimate, helped me heave the monster in and out of my car, repaired it on time with no surprise costs at the end, and it's 6 months later and it still works great. DON'T I repeat DON'T take your TV here to get repaired. I only had my TV for 2 years and suddenly it wouldn't turn on. I thought I would see if it would be cheaper to have it repaired then to buy a new one. They gave me a business card with a number on it and said use that number when I call to identify my TV. Apparently they don't call you they tell you to call them in a week. So jump ahead 2 month and at least 4 phone calls and my TV still isn't repaired. They said it was because the part hadn't shown up. By the 4th or 5th phone call I told them never mind and I don't want them to fix it and would go someplace else. They told me I couldn't do that because they already paid for the part I asked to speak to the MNG, who wasn't available. At this point I just gave up and bought another TV. That's when they finally called to say it was ready. I was so ticked at this point that my wife called to see if they would give us a discount for our inconvenience. She called 3 times and every time the owner was out, she left her number and he never called her back. She finally got a hold of him today and he didn't offer to do anything for the horrible service, but said he would use it as a "learning tool' to have better communication with his customers. So take it from me, no matter how much you love your TV just go buy another one and don't waste you time with these people. read more

Fair prices and excellent service. I submitted a VTL 100W Compact Monoblock valved amplifier for troubleshooting. It would open the power fuse upon turn on. The type of fuse I had been advised to use by VTL was ultimately shown to be the culprit. Put Littelfuse 313 4A in place and everything is working well. read more

We have a plasma TV that quit working one day. We began shopping for a new LED TV but the picture quality wasn't as clear as our old set, and none of them fit the dimensions of our entertainment center. My TV wouldn't turn on one recent morning. I tried everything for a few hours and then gave up. I dropped it by AM and when I called the next day they said it was working fine and they couldn't get it to fail. They had looked over the power board and some of the common issues but everything looked good. They said they had heard of this once before, and told me just to use it until the problem comes back and if it does, to bring it back in again when they could test it while it was failing.
