I went to Seattle Device Repair (SDR) with an old iPhone 6s whose battery was kaput. Abdullah was super easy to talk to, very attentive and service oriented, and quite fair as a businessman whose main focus seemed to be on giving us exactly what we needed. Due to the age of the phone, the replacement battery was new but had sat on the shelf a long while, such that the first battery replacement didn't function quite up to expectation. Abdullah happily swapped out for a different new battery and the phone now works splendidly. Could not recommend SDR more highly. read more

So swift! Went in around 11:30 to get my iPhone 12 rear camera replaced. It started getting serviced at 12:30pm and then was done at 1:30pm! It was 130 dollars. Went in with a broken phone battery. Despite calling ahead to make sure it was in stock, I unfortunately misidentified my phone model, and it turned out the battery in question was the wrong fit. However, the gentleman I spoke with very graciously took the time to walk me through what was wrong with the phone, suggested possible workarounds, and cautioned against those that could potentially harm the device further. Afterwards he declined payment (though I insisted he take a tip for his help). I very much appreciate his kind and knowledgeable assistance despite the mix-up on my end. While not an Apple authorized shop, this one-person storefront seems scrupulously honest, competent, clearly communicative, friendly, and welcomes walk-ins for non-warranty repair of phones, tablets, and other devices. When I went in with my 4-year-old iPhone SE that had developed intermittent problems with its lightning charge port, the technician quickly took a look, ordered the part without asking for any $$ up front, and had it working like new within a few days for a reasonable price. He'll usually do diagnoses and minor things like port cleaning for free while you wait. One possible downside is that parking can be limited in the neighborhood around Denny and Second Avenue, but bus stops are not far. read more

Go here for device repair. My phone was submerged in water the night before I brought it here. I called to see if they could help and I was told they would try to help, no promises. But if they were unable to help, no charge. Seemed fair. Somehow this thing still works. The man that assisted me vacuum sealed and hot plated this thing to get all the water out. Shot some air in there after to dry things up. Replaced a part and advised me how to go to the manufacturers retail store and have them take care of the one thing he was unable to fix due to serialization for the particular part. Then tried to NOT charge me a penny. I gave him $5 cash as the least I could do. If I need any service on devices in the future I'm going back here. read more

Abdullah is a fantastic communicator, trustworthy and upfront, and really empathizes with his customers. I went to Abdullah a few weeks ago because my iPhone got water-damaged. Due to its state, I wasn't able to back up my data and wipe it before handing it to Abdullah for repairs. I felt incredibly reluctant about trusting my phone and its contents, but can say with a lot of confidence that Abdullah remained ethical and professional during repairs. Furthermore, he did an excellent job communicating the status of my phone over email throughout the entire process. He was also very upfront -- doing a great job explaining the risks of certain repair procedures and getting my consent before moving forward. In the end, I decided I wanted to hold off on further repairs until I heard back from insurance on whether the damage to my phone was covered. Abdullah was kind enough to write up some to provide my insurance company. In the end, despite doing some restorative work to put my phone in a much better state than before I came to him, he refunded me in full because he didn't get a chance to complete servicing on my phone. I went there w a dead phone that was in the washing machine for about 15 mins. i had to turned in that phone back to T mobile, because i got a new phone, and if I didn't, I would've been charged with the full price of a new phone. I did my homework here at yelp to read all the reviews and decided that this is the place i should go. when I entered the store, I thought the store seems very organized and clean for an electronic repair shop. There were 2 guys at the front and they seemed super professional yet gentle and understanding. i knew i was in good hands. They also told me that if the phone can't be fixed, i won't be charge with anything, it gave me a sense of trust when i felt very vulnerable. I went in like almost 5pm and they were able to tell me how to get it fixed and fixed the phone within about 2 hours (it was 3 parts they had to replace). I picked it up the day after which was on sat. Sunday, guess what, they texted me and make sure all was working fine. what a great customer service. You shouldn't tell people that walk-ins are fine, with open hours listed on your web site -- and then not open. My tablet stopped charging. A very nice man determined there was something amiss in the port, and promptly fixed the problem. The charge on the tablet was only 35%, so I had been worried data would be lost. He installed an app to transfer data, and checked to see that data was being backed up to gmail (plus, answered related questions). By the way, there was no charge for this tremendous amount of help. Very late review. This happened 2 years ago. My wife dropped her iPhone 6 in the street in front of the kids' school without realizing it. Around 8:30 that night, she realized she couldn't find it and after scouring the house and car, decided to retrace her steps. She came home with her absolutely trashed phone. It had been run over multiple times and was broken on both sides. She hadn't set up her apple cloud to backup photos or contacts and was in a panic because her clients' contacts and appointments were gone, not to mention all of the pics/vids she had taken with the phone. A call to Seattle Device Repair the next morning and a "come on down" gave her some hope. I brought it down and Matt did some diags, swapped out "loaner parts" and found that the logic board was bad as were a bunch of other parts. The inside of that thing looked all mashed up so it was clear it wasn't repairable when he couldn't get it to start up. He was prepared to send me out without charging me anything even though he'd spent about 20-30 minutes with me to diagnose. I begged and pleaded to see if we could recover my wife's data. He thought for a second and said, "I've got an idea." He did a bunch more swapping between a couple different iPhones he had on his bench, got it to start up, and hooked to a USB I had and copied all the data. He gave me the data and said, "When you get your new phone, just hook it up to iTunes and you can put everything back on the new phone, and don't forget to setup backups to the cloud." I don't recall how much he charged me (I think it was under $100), but I remember leaving and thinking to myself that I would've paid 3x what he charged me -- and had for data recovery. I once had a memory card crap out on me on my HD video camera. I paid another company nearly $300 to get those videos back, and it was less work than what Matt did in both time and effort. Matt even told me to hang on to the old iPhone until we got the new phone and successfully transferred the data to it. Once we were good with the new phone, we could bring back the old phone, and he would do all the swapping again and wipe the storage so when we disposed of it, it would be clean -- no charge. This is just an honest young man running a good business, providing value, and making life better for a lot of people. Seattle Device Repair will always be the first place I call or refer friends to for phone issues. In fact, I'm about to call him at 10am in 25 minutes when he opens to ask him about fixing my damaged Samsung S7. I'm actually writing this review while I wait for him to open because when I was looking up the number to call, I realized I never wrote the review after helping me with my wife's phone 2 years ago. I've been putting off getting my screen replaced for months since my dog knocked it off the table while I was getting my car serviced... they made it painless. They said it would take about 30 minutes and ended up being 45 but it's cool. The guy did a great job and their cat Unit was soooo cute. The couple that runs the shop also has two more cats. They are named Unit-A, Unit-B, Unit-C. Anyway, the shop is clean. There is a piano and coffee if you're waiting there. It cost me $97 win tax to get my screen replaced.
