I've not had a bad experience yet coming into this boba spot. I've tried the taro boba, the strawberry matcha latte, the creme curler matcha, and the brown sugar creme brûlée boba. All were very tasty. The taro cake and basque burnt cheesecake are yummy! The shop is cute. I've enjoyed the service I've received here as well.

Durian smoothie.

I was craving a durian smoothie. I couldn't believe I found a place that does one. However, paying $10.50 for a fairly normal-sized bubble tea-type drink was shocking. I'm aware there's usually a premium price on durian, but this was a little ridiculous (so maybe +$13 after tax and tip). The smoothie also tasted more like melted sweet vanilla ice cream than durian (not very strong flavor). The coconut on top was a nice touch. They might have better drinks, but I was unfortunately wanting something specific.

Always comes out great.... I come here weekly and try to switch it up most times. Never disappointed. Super cute and clean inside.

I have been here twice and I was very impressed both times. I love their unique selection of teas/flavors. I ordered a 50% sweet camellia oolong tea with tapioca boba. The boba was cooked perfectly and the tea tasted freshly brewed. The service was fast and prices were reasonable. So far this is my favorite boba spot in KC.

I've been to different Gocha locations and I am always left disappointed. I was hesitant to try this location due to my past experiences. I went with a friend after having kbbq next door and checking out the Korean grocery store. It was empty on a Monday evening but the staff was very friendly as we walked in. There's so many different drinks to choose from and they're different from the other locations I feel like. I got the Hibiscus Lychee and that was the best decision I've made! It was very fruity and flavorful (just how I like it). Since we were the only ones in the store, the worker took our order but usually there's a kiosk that you can place an order! Overall, I was very pleased with my experience and I will definitely be back! I also love how kawaii the place is!

amazing art work once again never disappoints.

Never disappoints, must try, very flavorful, delicious, colorful, lightweight feeling. Service was excellent quiet and sweet.

Love this place! Great boba and tea selection just around the corner from my place. It's clean, fresh and modern. I especially love the self order station for those low-social battery days, ya know? I also love the customizations available. Boba and Thai tea can be so sweet, so I always get mine with only 25% sweetness and it's prefect! You can also customize the ice quantity and the milk options, but alternative milks do have a fee (just $.50, completely reasonable). I've yet to try their food from the case, but it all looks incredibly tempting. My iron-will will eventually cave though, so I'll update this then!

I was so excited to hear Gocha will be in Shawnee. It's so convenient for me to only 10 minutes away from all my favorites snacks. I have been in several times in the last month. The inside is cute and inviting. Great lighting and decor for photos. The desserts and snacks are top-notch as always. I love that Gocha has always been creative with flavors of their refreshments. It's a very welcomed addition to this part of our city. I definitely recommend checking them when you are in the neighborhood.

If you're looking for a great Boba place down south of KC, you should visit Gocha. We always love and support locally owned bussiness. Gotcha will always be my favorite in Kansas City #1 Drinks are made to perfection

Ohhh so happy they have a new spot in KANSAS! This will be my go to since I'm always over on this side. I tried their pennywort original and mung bean and oh my, it reminds me of California. Love the fresh juice. Can't go wrong with their Avocado/Durian smoothie. Sooo good but it's not for everyone. Just a warning for those who can't stand the smell. Their yukult tea is great too.

This is local boba business. I used to go to their location in North KC, and now they open one in Shawnee close to my house. Their drinks are very unique, not like other franchise boba shop. The price is more affordable. The place is nice and clean. They have kiosk to order, so it's very quick.

I'm so happy they have one in Shawnee now instead of driving all the to Gladstone, MO. This place is so yummy! Best boba place in Kansas City for me. This place is clean, has lots of seatings, and super cute decorations. When we walked in we didn't see any employees, but can see them busy making drinks in the back. I liked how they have a touch screen where you can just order and pay by yourself. You get a receipt. When your order is ready, the employee will bring it out to you. We did have a question about something , and it was easy for us to flag down an employee for help. They do have desserts available. Their prices are better than the other boba places. They give you lots of toppings unlike other places. Also, their cups for the boba tea are reusable and sturdy. Love this place!

The cup was very solid for a disposable!

Cute location, cute shop, we even found a great parking space, things were looking good! And then we went in, ready to spend. There were three total people in the store (us included), it was midday on a Wed (just setting the scene in case you are thinking it was a busy Saturday; it wasn't!) My SIL asked the owner if she could recommend specific products for her friend, gave her the friend's name, etc. Instead of saying "gosh, I really can't look up what she bought but I can recommend some fan faves!" she went with the "you know, I've been here 22 years and I have 12,000 customers" route and seemed incredibly put-out. My SIL and I were like "wait, what?" We left it alone and browsed for a sec - the owner then took literally 47 seconds to type a name into the computer and did come up with a couple of products for my SIL's friend, but she acted like we were asking her to violate HIPAA. This store has plenty of tea, and I totally get why other people love it. I also get why December is hard on small businesses and maybe the owner was just having a bad day. For me, the unfortunate part of our visit wasn't the tea, which I'm sure is....fine? It was seeing the light go out of my big-hearted SIL's eyes when she realized the owner was not remotely interested in connecting with an eager customer. I might add that our stop immediately before this was The Corner Candleshop in Brookside and the difference was mind-blowing. They were lovely, engaged, helpful, and we can't wait to return. I wish I felt the same about Tea Market.

My kiddo likes a their strawberry with rainbow pearls; definitely on the sweeter side but she liked it well enough. The wife had a matcha which she said was good as well, and is eager to dive further into their menu. They offer lots of seasonal specialties, classics, and a massive amount of fine-tuning so you can get your drink to your liking. You can adjust sweetness from 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% which is a nice touch. They did switch to a kiosk ordering a few years back, so it feels slightly impersonal, but they are efficient with their process. I really like the almond milk tea with pearls when the weather is right for it, and am always open to exploring new options here. They seem very friendly, very efficient, and have brought a much needed concept to the Plaza (and KC in general, tbh). Not quite regulars here, but glad to visit a handful of times each year.

Lots of interesting flavors that cater to more of a Western flavor profile. First time seeing a Redbull boba. It was amusing, but they did have more traditional flavors as well. Originally wanted a matcha, but it didn't look to be the best quality based on the muddy color. Ended up ordering the strawberry anchan latte with crystal boba and almond milk. Unfortunately, the almond milk overpowered any other flavors, so it ended up tasting like straight almond milk with some crystal boba. Pretty drink, but wouldn't get it again. The population is around 2% Asian here, so it makes sense authentic tea shops and flavors may be harder to come by. Seemed to be more popular with the teens.

Strip's Chicken & Brewing - Inside of the crispy chicken strips!

Strip's Chicken & Brewing

I had been wanting to try Strip's for a while, and I'm really glad I finally did because this ended…read moreup being a genuinely great spot. The chicken was the star right away. It was juicy, tender, and very clearly fresh. We tried the Crispy Chicken Strips, and that pretzel breading they have was so crisp and satisfying. I appreciated that the bartender warned me the regular breading on the fried chicken bites had a mild spice. I can't do spice at all, so that kind of heads-up really matters. The fries were really good too. They were seasoned enough to add flavor without taking over the meal, which I think is especially important with fried chicken. I only wish they had come out a little hotter because paired with how fresh the chicken was, that would have made the plate pretty much perfect. Still..they were absolutely worth eating. The fried chicken bites were also fresh and tasty. We did think they could have used a little more breading, but it did not take away from the overall dish. Sauces- My partner tried the mango habanero sauce and said it smelled spicier than it actually tastes! Which was helpful intel from my spice tester that I'm passing from me to you! For me, the honey mustard was a standout. I'm not sure if they make it in house, but it was one of those sauces that immediately makes you think, okay yes, this is one of the good honey mustard places!! You don't do that? The smashed potatoes and gravy deserve their own paragraph because they were fantastic. This is the kind of side that makes a place more memorable. I love when a restaurant has a few items or sauces that feel a little different from the usual copy and paste menus. The smashed potatoes were great on their own, but that skillet-style gravy really made them level up. The vibe was another plus. It was a Saturday night and it wasn't overly crowded. This is the kind of casual dive bar you can just hang out and actually talk. There's a little game room with pool, darts, and a giant Connect Four setup! That was super fun! I won at Connect Four so obviously that made it more fun, but it was great and a nice little add beyond just being another place to grab fried food and a drink. For a divey spot, everything also felt decently clean and well kept. The bathrooms were clean, and the bar area looked pretty and maintained. They've got a jukebox you can control from your phone, which is such a fun touch. Yes, it costs money like a normal jukebox, but being able to do it from your phone is pretty nice. My one real issue was service based, after I accidentally spilled my drink it never got cleaned up, so I ended up sitting with my feet in soda through the rest of the meal. I only saw two people working though, so it felt more like understaffing than indifference. We were too full for dessert, but we had to try the crème brûlée cheesecake so we took it home. It was decadent, and a little different! The cherry marshmallow sauce on top was not your standard finish, and I really liked that. That was kind of my overall takeaway from Strip's. It doesn't feel like a copy-and-paste bar food spot. A couple things could have been better, but the food was strong enough that I'd definitely come back.

The interior is clean and well maintained. Service was friendly. They have beer, cocktails, and soft drinks. The beers on tap are brewed in collaboration with local breweries and a few in manhattan. I tried the Gunslinger Gold West Coast IPA that was brewed with Red Crow. It was a really good, nicely done IPA. We ordered food to go and our order was accurate. We started with the Crispy Portobello Strips: Fresh Portabello Mushroom caps cut into strips & fried with pretzel breading. These were probably my favorite thing that we ordered. They weren't soggy and you could actually taste the mushrooms because the breading was light. I also ordered the Crispy Chicken Strips:Zesty Batter & Pretzel Breading. They came with a side so I opted for the fries. I was honestly underwhelmed. They weren't bad but they weren't amazing either. The chicken was well cooked. The breading was good. But it kept reminding me of frozen Tyson chicken nuggets. The taste that is. The fries were also average. I really liked the honey mustard sauce and it saved the meal overall. Since they had mac and cheese, I decided to try it. It wasn't the best and it wasn't the worst I've ever had. Again, just average. I really wanted to love this place due to the people and beer but I wasn't blown away. They do have burgers and other offerings so I may need to return to try some other items. I'd definitely stop in for a beer and some mushrooms.
