Tamago toast and green tea with boba
    Alex P.

First time here and I really enjoyed it. I was running errands in this area and came across this place. The vibe here is very chill and there is ample seating area. The tamago toast (egg salad) and green tea boba is good. They offer a bunch of different coffees and milk teas. I'm definitely coming back!

Authentic Tawainese style tea and bubble tea shop, super close to home. The inside is super cute and well decorated. Lots of space for work if you want to sit. I got the rose tea, little ice and no sugar. Very refreshing with bold notes. The medium, I think was 16oz.. but was over 5.50$--so it's a bit pricey

TL;DR: If you like your desserts and drinks not too sweet (iykyk), get 50% for fruit drinks and 75% for tea drinks and it's perfect. The fruit drinks are better than the tea drinks here. DRINKS I've been to Takao several times since it opened and I'm obsessed with their fruit drinks. The seasonal Grapefruit Green Tea is so citrusy and refreshing and perfectly balanced, and their Watermelon Latte is awesome as well. They use fruit and not just powder and it shows. The tea drinks, on the other hand, are just okay. I would much rather recommend Gocha or Ding Tea if you're looking for high quality tea like a solid Oolong Milk Tea or deep, rich black tea. The Takao Black tasted almost carmelly, like brown sugar, and it was a bit too much. You can modify the sugar on most drinks, and I would recommend doing that (lower to maybe 75%) for your first time. I find all of their drinks to be *very* sweet except, weirdly, the ones where you can't modify the sugar level. I don't know how or why that is, but it's true. TIPS AND TRICKS I love the ambiance in Takao and the staff are really friendly, but this isn't a great place to study or hang out with a group. Takao doesn't offer wifi and has virtually no outlets for charging. It also doesn't offer seating suited to a large group, and the seats tend to feel either too low or too high. Overall, a good boba addition to the area. Would definitely recommend over Tsaocaa and the other recent boba openings, and it's worth visiting if you love bubble tea.

Went on a walk and stopped by Takao Tea. This was my second time here and I wanted to give it another try. It didn't seem like the AC was working, so it was so hot inside. The boba topping is not included with the drinks and is $0.70 additional. I was disappointed in the milk teas, as they were watered down and the boba was mushy. The drinks were small considering the price you pay.

This place reminds me a Lofi beats setting. It is so peaceful and the decorations are beautiful! It was not busy when we went at 2PM on a Thursday. I got the strawberry matcha and the boba was perfectly sweet. The brown sugar latte tasted like flan and it was good, not too sweet! The customer service was excellent, the cashier asked us if we wanted a punch card and that our tenth drink will be free if we got one. I wish this place has more customers because it is truly the cutest!

Not gonna lie, kinda shocked that I was able to find such an authentic tea spot in the middle of Olathe! I'm currently living in San Diego and this is pretty on par to the quality of tea that we have here which is awesome :) My favorite thing to get is the iced HK style milk tea, 70% sweetness! If you've never had it before, I would say that it's a very very strong tea flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. Very similar to something you might get in actual Hong Kong!! The owner is super kind and from HK herself. She is great at suggesting new drinks to try! I LOVE the vibe of this tea shop, lots of open space and a good amount of seating (and a cute couch). The parking lot is fairly large so parking shouldn't be an issue. Definitely swing by if you've been looking for a good and authentic tea spot. Best one in town!!!

Takao Black Milk Tea with Boba

Takao Tea is the very first boba shop in Olathe! The drinks were delicious! I tried 3 different ones including the Pineapple Tea, Black Milk Tea, and Herbal Tea. All of them had distinct flavors and tasted great. The boba topping portions are very generous too. The shop has a very relaxing and chill ambiance. Everything is very modern and clean. It would be a good place to get some work done while treating yourself to a drink. Overall, I highly recommend! Service was quick, fast, and friendly. The workers were genuinely happy and even took the time to explain their unique menu items.

Black milk tea with tea jelly

I had black milk tea with tea jelly. Surprisingly it was very good and refreshing. The tea jelly was introduced as homemade, so it has unique taste, and it's now my favorite. The milk wasn't too heavy for my stomach. The tea has special floral flavor and not too bitter eventhough I ordered no sugar. The shop is small and cute. I would definitely come back in the future

Our to go drinks! Even our car was intrigued

Store atmosphere is awesome, and the drinks are amazing! Would recommend Takao Tea to anybody!

Great variety of options to include non-dairy. That helps me tremendously. Their drinks are spot on.

She also got the chocolate Hong Kong waffle with ice cream and enjoyed it. I would have liked to try some of their food, but wasn't able to during this visit (through no fault of Tsaocaa). The plushies and other merch they had was very cute and I'll very likely buy something the next time I visit. The decor was also lovely, with some very happy plants in the windows. The staff were also friendly and gave me no reason to doubt their skills. My only complaint is that the seating was just shy of being comfortable. My friend said the bench seating was a bit hard, and while the chair I sat in was soft, the arm rests made it a little too narrow for me (I'm plus size and have chronic pain, so finding truly comfortable seating can be a challenge at most places. As a note, anyone larger than a women's 3X probably wouldn't be able to comfortably sit in the chairs at all and would need to sit on the bench). Overall it was a pleasant experience, and I plan to go again!

First of all, be sure not to blink because the sign isn't very visable and the location is unassuming from the outside, abeit a very clean exterior. Walking in, I love the vibe, trendy but not pretentious, grounded yet modern and a fair amount of people but not overflowing. Yessiree Bob, this is my kind of place. Oh and the baristas are patient, kind and willing to offer advice based on your individual tastes. I've been here several times; however, my eating habits preclude me from indulging in anything outside of berries. Do the apple fritters, donuts, muffins and other items look outstanding, of course they do. In fact, my buddy whom I generally meet there has raved how good the pastries are and after living in Austin and trying home made poptarts, I'm still kicking myself for not trying them. However, the path to maintaining a healthy weight and figure is paved in discipline. I must admit they nailed the ambiance. The cement floors are patterned with what looks like dark wood textured tiles and the walls are a warm burgundy, emitting a certain visual warmth. The hanging art amuses me, sometimes it's movie paintings, sometimes its modern art while other times it's eclectic and I've never figured out their rotation, but I appreciate it. The hanging lamps offer a bit of 2010 mod while the open coffee service area proudly displays all of the tools of an expert craftsman. The counter area has a small display case enticing the sweet tooth and the chalk boards give a simplistic view of their menu, but they also offer daily "experiments" that are fun to sample. The first time I came, I tried the Café Au Lait which was very strong, robust and full of lasting flavor. The 12oz amount seemed to be about perfect for my needs. The next time I dropped by I sampled the Dulce de Leche which was a mistake. Why, you might be wondering? Because I've never ordered anything else since then and I always get the 16oz. It's smooth, a little softer on the coffee flavor while balancing it with the strong caramel notes. I know it's probably got more calories than I want, but hey, that's why I'm not eating! They also have some pretty good selection of home ground coffees from places like Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Brazil and other far, far away locations. Come to think of it I don't recall if they have any Hawaiian beans which are pretty trendy now (Kona is a great coffee!!) Oh I forgot to mention they do have a fast wifi but please for the love of God, don't be that geek in the corner pretending to write the great American novel in the corner. That's so.... 2000s.... Overall, this is my favorite coffee shop in Overland Park and it's not even close. Stop on by for the best coffee experience you'll have in the area!
