Living in Olathe has its advantages, but great hangs aren't one of them. Dolce Caffe is one of the few exceptions to the rule, being a bright spot in the midst of a boring food desert. Located in the old MCM building that formerly was the home of the old Tastee Freeze, it already started out with a fun atmosphere. And the owners did a nice job of making it even more welcoming. I even enjoyed the barstool, which looked to be about 75 lbs but actually was more like 10. As my Corgi body got up, that thing shot out from underneath me like a butt mounted, spring loaded rocket and took off across the dining room. Many nice people asked if I was OK, and I assured them that I was only dealing with the pain of embarrassment. I like to think that my exploits entertain the masses :) As for the coffee, it was excellent. Much better than the overheated fare at Charbux. The pastries were fresh, tasty, and some of the best I've ever had at a coffeehouse. The young baristas that work there are very nice, which is refreshing. The owner popped in while we were there and it's obvious he's detail oriented. Expect a line, but know that it's worth it. read more

Overall, this cafe might not be for me. It's on the small side so there's not a whole lot of seating - which would've been nice because it's quite a long drive from us so we would've liked to hang out for a bit before heading back home. However, the decor was really nice and inviting with the cushions on the benches, and greenery and trendy neon signs. This is a good place to go if you don't like your drinks very sweet, but we were searching for a bit more sweetness and flavor in ours. If we go back I might ask for a pump or two more of my selected flavor. read more

Don't let the small look fool you, the flavors inside are anything but small. I had this on my list for awhile, so was really excited to stop in, grab a latte and a bite to eat. There were a ton of food options listed, but when I arrived, most were not available. I was able to grab a ham and chedse pastry that they had left. I ordered off the seasonal menu and got an iced velvet caramel mocha. The coffee was delicious and they take pride in serving high quality coffee beans, that you can taste the difference. I really wanted to love this place. We had just visited another small business for light lunch and I was excited to see the old joint had been restored. The inside is so cozy. The barista was kind and then we tried our drinks. My kiddo's did not have the syrup he ordered so that was added. Turns out syrup didn't flavor either coffee a bit. I tried doctoring mine but neither of us found them drinkable. We ended up throwing them out after a few sips. Ordered the berry pastry pocket with blue icing and sprinkles (only flavor on display). When I got home and opened the bag, it was cinnamon/brown sugar and I would not have ordered it had I known I would get something different than represented. This was a truly unfortunately experience. I came here to do some work, wifi is so slow that I had to connect to my hot spot on my phone. Ordered a large green tea, they use Lipton tea packets. For a large, which is..I think 16 oz, it was 4.50$. For Lipton tea packets. There is no bathroom available due to some customers throwing random things down the toilet. Just dropped in as am on a roll in visiting as many coffee shops as I can while in town visiting Olathe from Virginia Beach VA. I was in for a delightful surprise. Didn't have customers so had a nice chat with Lucca who is part owner of the cafe with his wife. They've been in business for 4 weeks now but I get a sense that this cafe will do really well. Why? Because they pride themselves in the Viennese coffee that they import to really have the locals have a treat with European coffee. I got small cup of hot pistachio latte and the coffee indeed makes all the difference. Highly recommend this place as I've been to 8 others and this one definitely is on my #1 spot for coffee shops in the Olathe/Overland Park/Lenexa area! Olathe's old Tastee Treat is now a small coffee shop run by a couple from Slovenia. Modern, minimalist vibes and limited seating inside; the bar is your best bet. Feels like stepping into a European dive in an urban city center rather than the KS 'burbs. I don't live in this area but had driven by and decided to try it out. It use to be a Tasty Freeze which was a wreck in the past, the owners did a great job redoing the space. It's minimalist in decor and tasteful. It is very clean and the owners were friendly. I loved the fact that they had a good amount of gluten free pastries. I tried a GF muffin and an iced latte. I did feel like the prices were a bit high I thought for a 12 ounce latte and the smaller muffin though. And the music playing was a club sounding mix which was a bit out of place to relax. read more

Love supporting local business, but preferentially not this one. The couple owning the coffee shop are very friendly, but unfortunately their system of operating is very inefficient. Took about 15 minutes to get my order taken. I came on a Saturday morning and there was no parking, so you have to be a little creative. Although small, the cafe was very busy inside. The ambiance is great if you are stopping by for a quick drink and pastry, but is awfully crowded and loud if you are looking to study or stay a while. I understand that small businesses has higher prices than coffee chains, but my 12oz drink was $8.20 without tip! I'm not sure I've ever paid this much for coffee, even in downtown KC. If would've been fine if the drink was mindblowingly good, but it was not. It was flavorless even with my syrup addition (extra $1). After not even 5 minutes, the blended latte separated into a clump of ice and watered down coffee. Wished I loved it, but I will save my money next time. read more
