There was a huge line and the business was packed, so most likely they do wonderful business and make most people very happy. I came with the wife and son, we waited in line, it was moving, so no issues. We each ordered a different coffee off of their seasonal menu so we could each try something different. We sat down and tastes essentially nothing but milk. All three of us tried each others, and everyone agreed there just wasn't anything there. I'm sure there was coffee in there somewhere, and yes they were all different, but there wasn't anything about any of them that was notable. We live 45 min away and was in the area for something else, but probably won't find a reason to return. The next door game shop was cool, and everyone in both shops were very nice. read more

Good coffee with friendly faces. I stop by here a few days a week when I have to go into the office and get a flat white. My wife will tell you that I am a coffee snob, but really I just like what I like and I like this place. The coffee shop is pretty busy in the morning but it's pretty spacious inside and there is outside seating when the weather is good. I like that it's low key and comfortable. They serve messenger coffee here and it happens to be one of my favorite local brands. The service is friendly and I always see the same people which for me is a good sign. They can do some pretty good latte art. Take a look at the picture. They have a small selection of pastries and a menu for sandwiches and the like. I have bought some danishes for my mom a couple times and she scarfs 'em down so they must be good. I haven't eaten any of the sandwiches but they look fine when folks get them. I asked google maps where I could find a coffee shop between the hotel and my meeting spot, and it sent me here - what a great choice! Bright sunny spot with a side room for meetings, plenty of diagonal parking on both sides of the street. They have happy plants in the windows, treats and of course coffee. The winter me y had some fun flavor combinations, one of which I enjoyed on ice - and my request for half sweet was cheerily accommodated. A great place to meet with friends!! We came in a rainy day. The place felt extremely cozy. They were super busy but all the cashiers were moving fast taking orders and making drinks with a huge on smile on their face. There are plenty sitting places. absolutely love this coffee shop! Their cold brew is exceptional -- and I'm quite picky when it comes to coffee. They also offer a great variety of pastries, including gluten-free options. I used to drive all the way downtown just for their gluten-free blueberry muffins, so I'm thrilled to find them here now. I hope they add pistachio and more gluten-free varieties in the future. The patio area is lovely and dog-friendly, perfect for relaxing outside. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours, but I've always been able to find a spot. read more

Urban prairie coffee is such a gem coffee shop. We decided to stop by for some coffee during our morning walk and we weren't disappointed. There was a line but it went by quickly! We got the French toast latte and the Mr Darcy from their spring menu. Their spring menu had various fun coffee options with the French toast latte being one of their top sellers. We also got some plain and chocolate filled croissants. Both drinks and croissants were absolutely delish. I love how it is connected to a game store. Both businesses are family owned. So you can get your coffee and walk right next door to play some board/card games. The baristas were so friendly, I forgot to tell them oat milk since I'm lactose intolerant and they were able to switch it for me. I'll definitely be back to try out new latte flavors. read more

I was next door at Sandhills Brewery and noticed a lot of foot traffic at this business. People going in and out with coffees and pastries so I had to check it out. The space is pretty good sized. I believe they are associated with a gaming store and there were three different rooms with the middle being where you could order food and drinks. I accidentally came in through a different door and into a room where people had various board games set up. I didn't get any coffee because of the time of day when I visited. But if it had been earlier, I would have ordered something from their list. They also have a few sandwiches and they looked pretty good. I went with a couple of pastries. The cranberry orange muffin was good. I do wish that the cranberry was more throughout the muffin rather than just the top but it was still tasty and I'd def opt for one in the future. The winner for me was the cherry danish. The pastry was super flaky and the filling was fruity and delicious. I'll definitely return to try more things! read more

LOVE visiting Urban Prairie for coffee, snacks, working, or connecting with folks! UP brews delicious Messenger coffee, and I love my usual cold brew with a splash of oat. I've also had the avocado toast and protein balls, both were solid, but the real standout here is the coffee. The main coffee shop is connected to the business next door and another large seating area, as well as tables outside, so there are ample space and seats available, even though they are typically very busy. Service is always quick and friendly despite the crowds. Definitely visit and/or make this your regular coffee place! read more

I've been here a few times this year and so far I have never been disappointed. The baristas are super friendly, the atmosphere is so comforting, and the coffee and pastries are excellent. I love their wide range of seasonal drinks, too! The only downside for some is the drinks and food may be a slight bit on the pricier side, but I expected that as it's more than made up for by everything else. From the outside the place looks really small. once you enter inside you find that they are connected to the shop next door and it is actually 3 different rooms. We sat toward the front door and the temperature was warm but not overly warm for being 20 degrees outside. The noise level inside was on the quiet side. This is an update since going a variety of times. The baristas are not very welcoming the last several times upon visiting. I may visit twice a month and it's been like this lately, to other customers as well. The sugar free syrups are terrible the lattes taste weaker. Stumbled on spot when trying to find some good coffee and it did not disappoint. I had the Mr. Darcy which is perfect for anyone that doesn't like sweet coffee and the French toast latte was delicious too! I am a total catch for a coffee spot and if it's a local business, then feel free to save me a seat. Same thing probably goes for local craft beer, but let me refocus. Urban Prairie Coffee, or UPC, might be in the perfect spot. Snuggled into a slot on the north side of old downtown Mission, you might miss it if you aren't looking. But when you find it, WHAM!, you know. Plenty of sidewalk space to enjoy your coffee outdoors, and (now) plenty of indoor space as well should you need a table & WiFi. UPC has shared space with the games store just next door, but now the space has expanded to the other side with extras tables & art! And then there's coffee (and baked goodies!) UPC starts with a great base roast and builds from there with drinks of all kinds. Friendly, skilled baristas make everything on demand and to order while serving up fabulous pastries, breakfast plates, and a smattering of sandwiches. This visit had us sharing cinnamon rolls & cheese danish and neither lasted long - way too yummy! A 'dirty' chai, which is just a sensational chai with an espresso shot or two, is one of their off-menu specialities, and iced or warm this drink is spot on! Prices are competitive with the chains, if not better (take that, Seattle!) and your experience is virtually guaranteed to be better. Hours run from just early enough (7 AM) to at least 5:00 daily, extended to 7 PM Wed-Fri. Parking is on the street, old school style, but generally available. The WiFi is robust, the space is always getting better, the menu has just the right breadth, and the coffee is outstanding. Definitely one of the better coffee spots in northern JoCo! read more

I think it s a nice place but the prices are too high for the quality of food we are getting. There are times I think that local coffee shops over price their items because the chain coffee shop does but it makes me not want to support them and go get the chain because I feel like the quality is justified. I got a seasonal latte which has something to do with cookie dough. It lacked a lot of flavor and I was tempted to add sugar, there was nothing about the flavor that resembled cookie dough or a cookie. I also got the avocado toast. To add bacon it was like 3 or 4 dollars and it was just bacon crumbles, I thought they were full pieces. I felt the avocado toast was overpriced. My friend got the panini and it was very whimp-y and a sad excuse of a sandwich. I have come past this place many times but there's nothing in here to bring me back. I love supporting local but I don't think this is worth the price. Not saying it's atomically different from Starbucks but if Starbucks is going to give me good flavor I'd rather go there. read more

I work around the corner from Urban Prairie which is super convenient. I love that they change their menu seasonally and always have a lot of options. I will say their seasonal drinks tend to lean on the sweet side but they are all really good. I usually just get a dirty chai which is my favorite. Their chai is solid, not great but its pretty good. I tried their breakfast burrito for the first time and it was pretty good. A little too much tortilla and not enough filling for me but in a pinch, since it's so close to my office, I'd get it again. For GF people they do have GF muffins individually wrapped to not contaminate them which is awesome!!! The staff is super nice and always friendly. It makes for a good spot to grab coffee and get work done. They also have outside seating which is a perk. Overall, I like this place but don't love it. The convenient factor for me is huge and am happy to have it close to work when I need a quick fix. read more

A sweet little cafe to grab a drink, sit and chat with friends or even get some work done. I remember when this place first opened and it was so quiet inside. Now it's bustling with young professionals and friends of all ages. I've seen several regulars who come by to work on some spreadsheets and sort through files. It really seems to work for them. My favorite thing is that they have a pretty inspiring Seasonal menu that changes frequently! I like to grab a new coffee each time (and maybe a cheeky pastry), then head next door to peruse the boardgames. Typed "coffee" into Yelp and Urban Coffee popped up as the closest. Customer service was ... fine. They acknowledged me and asked for my order which does the job, but nothing seemed especially friendly or above and beyond. They simply did their job. I ordered my go-to. An iced chai with almond milk. $7.07. Plus a tip, it came to $8.07. That is a lot. Much much more than I pay at my neighborhood Coffee shop. Kinda expected it to taste like gold. It was fine, but definitely not the best I've ever had. I appreciate that they were open and that I was able to get an afternoon treat while out running errands. read more

There is a good amount of foot traffic throughout the day, and there are lots of folks who seem to be working remotely from here - which is nice because I do the same. The service is quick. Urban Prairie Coffee is a neighborhood favorite of mine. It's a hole in the wall place along Johnson drive that you could miss if you didn't look close enough. They have the best pastries (cinnamon roll in particular) and my latte is never too sweet or too bitter. I ALWAYS get an iced caramel latte at every coffee shop I go to (basic white b***h I know). They've created more grab and go options with COVID-19. I got the caprese salad recently and the tomatoes were sooo fresh! It was amazing. The baristas are very friendly and they have a reward system. 100 points = $1 off. I get a lot of these. Right now their interior seating isn't an option but there's plenty of seating outside. Next door they have a board game shop where you can rent board games which adds a cool element. They have a "call ahead" option now so my coffee is always ready when I get there. This also helps prevent clutter inside/promotes social distancing. This will always be my #1 coffee place in Mission. I can't wait to be able to sit inside again. One of Mission's hidden gems that I'm so glad to have discovered! I came here with some friends and got the Southwest Breakfast Burrito and Iced Mocha to start - both were so delicious! The mocha was the perfect way to wake up while feeling refreshed on a hot morning. The burrito was savoury, flavourful, and surprisingly healthy. Yelpers tend to become experts in some niche like craft beer, distilleries, tacos, and for me I can safely say it's COFFEE. Urban Prairie is sweet. First of all, I'm feeling Mission lately. It's been a slow go on the progress that's been promised on Johnson Drive, but today I could feel it. This area is ripe for a good little coffee shop and that's what we have here. Now it's not the trendiest (that's ok!), they don't roast their own beans (they use Messenger which are always good IMO), but they offer up friendly service and great tasting coffee in an area that's been lacking. I noticed a ton of people popping in for 'grab & go' coffee, as it's a bit of a smaller place. You would likely be able to grab a table if setting a meeting here, but it's not huge. One thing I really appreciated about this classic coffee shop? The price. I got a large coffee that came out to around $2. That's what black drip coffee should be, yet most encroach on the $3 and up. Let me say I worked at a national coffee shop in college and the owner filled me in on something; the cup of straight black coffee averaged out under a quarter each, with the cup being the bulk of the cost. So yeah, it shouldn't be insanely priced. TL:DR; A welcoming, quality coffee shop in the heart of Mission, KS that serves a good cup of joe and fills a much needed niche. read more

I've continued to drop in to Urban Prairie and I've always had a good experience. The baristas are friendly, helpful, and my food/coffee is always out quickly! Seating is open inside again, and I've found it's a nice environment to catch up with a friend or work from. I usually order either the avocado + everything toast or the almond butter + banana + honey toast with my latte. Both are simple yet tasty and filling. A big fan of what's going on here. Stopped in for one of their almost dinner plate sized pastries to go but what I wanted most was a stiff, high quality, flavor loaded black coffee that had some snap to it. Mission... pun intended, accomplished. Always had a soft spot in my heart for this part of town. It's older, kind of forgotten, but there are some businesses here I like and this shop is the perfect fit. The area has a nice vibe to it in spite of being a little out of favor in terms of traffic. But one of the really enjoyable things about it is the huge front area built into a good chunk of the block, perfect for outdoor seating as the brewery next door is also doing. Why more towns don't do this I'm not sure, but assume it is related to the cost. Grabbed my pastry and coffee and sat in the relatively warmth and sunshine of the mid-morning and had a proper good coffee moment. I don't get in this neighborhood often but I'm in KC enough, and this place is cool enough, that I can easily see myself returning with the laptop to work once it's safe enough to be seated around other humans without wearing a hazmat suit. Hoping to try out more offerings here, but for a first visit, mightily impressed. And that perfect cup of black coffee, to die for. read more
