There's also a buffet bar for the veggies, seafood, noodles, and sauces. The staff is super helpful, friendly, attentive, and the service is quick! They make sure you're good on meats and ask if you'd like your broth topped off. I wish the tables were slightly bigger but that's only because all the places tend to add up, as expected in any hotpot place. I've been 2x now, and both times have been beyond exceptional! I have wanted to try hot pot for years, but did not want to leave my bubble that is the Clear Lake area! So when I learned that Go Shabu had opened, needless to say, I was ecstatic! We had reservations since there were 8 of us, and we were seated immediately. Gen was our server and she was fantastic! As 6 of the 8 of us had never been, she explained the process and even brought out a sample of each of the different bases so that we could try them all before committing to one (she did this at my request, it's not necessarily something they just do). I chose the Go Shabu Spicy and it was delicious! I would also recommend the curry base, as it was good, too! Each table gets 3 meat choices ... so my husband and I got the chicken and beef strip, and my parents (who were at our table) got the brisket, and later got more chicken. They bring out as much as you need! They also have eggs in case you want to drop it in the soup and hard boil it or crack it open and cook it! Their buffet bar offers gloves & hand sanitizer for your use, which is nice. Here you will find dipping sauces, veggies, seafood, even kimchi! Once you have your base, you are ready to cook and you have basic cooking times at the table. Don't forget to grab some ice cream to cleanse the palate! I will admit, I've never had hot pot before (though I'd heard of it while visiting Vancouver) and my hubs had never heard of it before! What a hidden gem on this side of town! This was one of our favorite shabu experiences here in the greater Houston area. A bit of an odd location for this type of establishment outside of Chinatown but we were more than pleased to find it here near family when we come to visit. First and foremost, for an Asian buffet style restaurant during a PANDEMIC, this place is as clean as they come. The buffet aisle is nearly spotless with a vibrant mural on the back wall and customers have disposable gloves to don before using the tongs which is appreciated. The customer service is welcoming and attentive. The quality of the ingredients from the thinly sliced ribeye to the fresh vegetables were on point. Even the sliced oranges as a dessert were super sweet. I appreciate the fact that as a first timer you can sample each broth before making a decision. The tomato and go shabu spicy are definitely the stars here. I'd say the sukiyaki was a bit too sweet and the curry although flavorful, just wasn't my personal preference for hot pot...maybe as a dipping sauce on the side. For dessert you get a solid selection of your traditional and Asian inspired ice creams (red bean, matcha) which are above average for your buffet ice creams. There's really nothing that can be complained about here with the great price point, service, environment, and quality ingredients for an AYCE. If u live on this side of town, u know that there aren't many good Asian cuisine. To have a nice hotpot place here, that's also pocket friendly, is a major plus! Nice place, good service, everything was fresh. What makes a good hotpot for me is the freshness of the ingredients and the sauce! The broth can be made delicious after cooking all the stuff in it. I especially will put crabs n clams in first to make the broth more savory. I love the many variety of the sauce bar! I have a very soft spot for dipping sauce, i love to mix my own sauce and dip everything I eat, even when I eat pho. I love the price. Dinner is $23, and lunch is $15. U really can't complain, but I really wouldn't mind paying a little more for at least 1 more beef option at lunch. They only offer pork belly, lamb, chicken, n 2 beef cuts for lunch, which is eye round & brisket. I do not care for the eye round since it's too lean, not tender at all, n lacks flavor. That leaves me with brisket since I don't care for fatty pork belly or chicken, and I cannot eat lamb. Brisket is amazing if ure lucky to get more meat than fat on it.. most of the times, there's 75% of fat on it, but I don't have a problem trimming that off, it's just time consuming. We were excited to hear there was a hot pot place in clear Lake but when my husband suggested we try it out, I was a little skeptical. We live halfway between both Clear Lake and Chinatown now so we could really go either direction. I looked up all the Yelp reviews and they were all favorable so we decided to go. Very glad we did because I think it is my favorite hot pot place now. They only have 6 broths but you can definitely customize each base to your own taste with all of the sauces and garlic and onions available. Everyone has their own broth and you pick the different meats. We tried all 9 selections and they were all cut very thinly and all very fresh. Everything else can be found at the "salad bar". And what a salad bar it was! They have all types of seafood from scallops, mussels, clams, crab to fish and shrimp and calamari. They also have fish balls, lobster balls, dumplings, tripe, tofu, fish cake. Cabbage, book choy, and watercrest... mushrooms, etc. We were very impressed how fresh everything was. They also had an assortment of sauces. Our favorite was the garlic sauce. For dessert, they have ice cream. We did not care for the mango or strawberry but we really liked the red bean and green tea ice creams. Atmosphere - a little loud but clean. Amazing all you can eat shabu at a great price! For those who don't know, shabu is a meal where you boil thinly sliced meats, veggies, and other ingredients in your choice of soup. Each person has their own small bowl of soup to cook in so there is no worry about contamination. My favorite soup bases are the tonkotsu and the spicy (it's not that spicy but very flavorful). The ingredients are so fresh and they provide gloves for handling the tongs at the ingredient buffet. I actually like this place. My sister brought me here because she knows I like soupy food and shabu is one of my favorites. Food is fresh and clean, although, I do wish that the managers would recognize that stacking plates of meat on top of each other is not too sanitized. We all know that the bottom of the plates touch the counter top numerous times and most likely, not washed cleanly. Stacking the plates and having that part touching the uncooked meat, spells B-A-C-T-E-R-I-A for me. That's the only part that I don't like, but the rest of the food being laid out are quite clean and fresh. The price is fair at $28 per person for all you can eat. The ambience of the place is upbeat but still conversational. I do hope that the managers would take more care in bringing out the meat so that plates don't stack on the meat the next time I visit. :) read more

Better than Chinatown in Houston and Chicago, no lies. Firstly, this is absolutely not kid friendly, just FYI. Little fingers will definitely burn, and there isn't a "kid" menu. Everyone gets their own pot so there are no safe zones of the table. Also, I would not try to do a group of more than 4 or 6, there isn't room and the tables can't be moved together because of the plugs. The broths are just amazing. Not overly spiced, so you can add your own special sauces. The CURRY is the best flavor, but I am interested in trying the tomato one next time. They do boil down fast and turn to gravy if you leave the heat at 5. Also, you can dilute it, they offer more broth. The quality of the meats is excellent and the buffet items are well stocked. Everything you could ever want is available. Tons of seafood option, pot stickers, veggies, and BEAN CURD STICKS (tofu skin). The pickled radishes were a favorite.
