Wanted to try a new place for Ramen, this one hit the spot. Super cute and cozy, we were seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly. The menu is big, tons of sushi to choose from. We started with calamari as a starter. It was hot, crispy, and came with a chili dipping sauce. I ordered a Thai tea, but they were out. I ordered the original ramen but added spice. It was the perfect amount of spice! I really enjoyed the thin noodles and the pork was tender and seasoned well. The sushi was delicious and fresh. I LOVE Komeya, especially dining in. Warm vibes, good food, good prices. The take out service is what I use the most often and they are all about attention to details. Cooler weather is Ramen weather, and they carefully package everything, down to the knot they tie in the plastic bag. Secure but easy to open! Small, authentic, fresh ingredients. Komeya is my favorite and my go to because it's not too expensive. Also not too cheap, so I never worry about food quality! The family went for lunch. Komeya is a small place at the end a strip mall. It has character and had been serving the public for many years. I had sushi lunch special "A" (a great value), others had a variety of sushi and a hibachi bowl. All we're very happy with the food. Our server was attentive while not being overly intrusive. I had this place bookmarked for sometime and I finally had the chance to go check it out! Never judge a book by its cover because it was tucked away in a corner somewhere. The inside is so cute. Very well decorated and quaint! Reminds me of many ramen places in Asia. I love the atmosphere. Now, the food. My husband and I ordered a couple items off their menu and we loved some, liked some and some were just okay. My husband was blown away by their original tonkatsu ramen (5/5), I also had a couple sips and bites here and there and their flavors are rich and cooked nicely together. Salmon sushi: 3.5/5, I liked it a lot but it wasn't mind blowing. Does taste fresh but something was off about it. Can't put my finger on it. Smoke salmon sushi: 4/5, this one was better! Maybe because it was smoked salmon and the flavors balanced well here. Komeya roll: this one was both of our favorite. 5/5. The crunch and flavors balanced each other out perfectly. Space center roll: 3/5. I feel like this one was just there for aesthetic. The taste however, was just so so. My husband ordered the shrimp and veggie tempura (4/5). He really liked it but the shrimp was just okay. Lastly, I had the escolar sashimi, (4/5) I like their take on this. They dressed it with their sauces and sprinkled some flavor on top. However, if everything was taken away and it was just the fish, it was a bit chewy and the cut was a little awkward, so the additions to the sashimi was a good choice. Really outstanding ramen especially for the price! I had the black tonkotsu which was really flavorful. My partner had the curry chicken and really loved it as well. Prices are really reasonable ~$13 for a bowl. I've had $20 ramen that wasn't as good. The amount of food was good but if you're super hungry I'd recommend adding an appetizer. It has been awhile since I've eaten inside Komeya, I usually order it on DoorDash for pick up. And I was always pleased with the quality of the packaging and the food. Today we decided to dine there. It's a small place but not crowded. The decor is fun and authentic. Our server was so nice and helpful when ordering. Tonight we came for the sushi/ sashimi and rolls. My son ordered ramen as well which he really enjoys. The food also came quickly. I have to say we were not disappointed. The sushi pieces were delicious, quality fish and the slices were generous. Same goes for the sashimi , the salmon , ocean trout, yellow tail were our favorites for sashimi and sushi but they have many selections to choose from. My ramen was not spicy at all but did have more Smokey flavor. Service- our waitress wasn't the greatest. When our ramen was served we just got the spoon, didn't get chopsticks, I had to ask for a fork which she did give it to me but forgot about my partner. It usually takes 20+ minutes before I get my food. I'd really hate to come here when every seat was taken. Come try their food - it's great. When I checked in Yelp said I could have an appetizer. Two different ones were offered. I chose the Edamame because I didn't know what it was. It appears to be soybeans boiled in the pod. I tried eating them as they came, in the pod. Yuck -- that didn't work so when the server came by I explained I could not eat them and wondered how others did. She explained you squeeze the beans out of the pod (she said suck but I think you squeeze) and eat them. I did that for about 10 pods and quit -- too much work. But, the beans are tender. They do not have a ramen dish on the lunch menu, so I ordered the *Spicy Beef Ramen* off of the main menu. It was generous and tasty, so I overate. This place is kind of small, but the place is decorated very cute and I would consider it cozy instead of tight. Service was great, waitress was very nice and friendly and we even got a free egg roll thanks to the yelp app! I enjoyed all of my sushi pieces especially the honey moon roll. Sweet chili sauce was a nice touch compared to the usual eel sauce that I'm used to. I had a bite of my boyfriend's ramen. I loved the presentation, but the portion size and the taste was okay.
