I've been here several times now, so I feel comfortable leaving a review. Overall, I've had mostly positive experiences. The atmosphere is great--quiet during slower hours and lively when busy. I love the interior decor, being able to watch the chefs make sushi, and the claw machine is a fun touch. The staff have always been friendly, but there were a few times during slow periods when I couldn't find anyone for several minutes when I needed help. The food is generally good. My favorites are the shrimp tempura, smoked salmon, and fried rice. If the fried rice comes out too oily, ask for it with less oil--it makes a big difference. My main concerns were with a couple of items. The zucchini in the vegetable soup was very bitter, and the edamame had a slimy texture instead of the firm, smooth texture I expected, so I didn't finish either dish. Overall, it's a good spot that I would visit again. A little more consistency in service and food quality would make the experience even better. read more

Love how they redesigned the interior, it has such a calming look and energy to it. Pretty much everything on the menu is good, but especially the raw fish (which is a huge plus in my eyes!). I've found that I keep bringing people back here to see how good it is. Servers and friendly and helpful when it comes to explaining menu items. I don't totally understand when a table gets an iPad to self order versus when a server takes your order, but either way it's all pretty timely. My only tiny gripe is the music. I love Japanese rock as much as the next person (anime intros I see you) but sometimes it can get a bit intense/loud and clash with the calming interior. Unfortunately the sushi made my tummy hurt. None of the sashimi was served on ice which may have been the problem but unsure. Originally we were told we could only order 5 pieces of sashimi per round for the entire table. Then we were told it was 5 pieces per type of sashimi per round for the table. I will say I've had better ayce sushi, but the variety on the menu here was the one thing that I liked. Especially with all the new places opening up in Houston, I'm not sure that I would come back here. While the food was ok (it didn't taste bad or anything), I got a really bad stomach ache after eating the food, and I don't know if I felt like the fish was the best quality in terms of freshness. Also, one of my rolls had a piece of a barcode sticker on it. I was told it was from an avocado, but that's never happened to me elsewhere. I really appreciated the ambiance and liked how modern and aesthetically pleasing it was inside. My first review of 2026 goes to Aokicho, which I had the pleasure of dining at during the first weekend of the new year. It was recommended to me by an Uber driver recently. And, boy, was she right about it. Anyone who has eaten at Ohayo and Sushi Moshi is likely to enjoy this fairly new culinary gem not too far from League City's South Shore area. I swung by during the Sunday afternoon lull. Getting a table wasn't that difficult. A friendly waiter then introduced himself, handed me a tablet, and explained the ordering process. So far, so good. Selection wise, I'd say that Aokicho tends to have a little more. Plus, there were some items that you wouldn't find at either Ohayo or Sushi Moshi. The way I order at AYCE sushi places is I always go for the starters and appetizers first. Aokicho's tataki selection is in the neighborhood of top notch. Its poke salad isn't only delicious, but an amazing sight to behold. The kitchen staff put lots of effort to assemble it. I then helped myself to some fried rice, gyoza, and hibachi and teriyaki entrees as I would at the other two places. While the items came in small portions, they were enough to make me stuffed. So much as that I was only able to manage just two orders of sushi. With Aokicho, sushi lovers in the Clear Lake/NASA area have another option. It's a bit of a ways from 45 so it could be a quite a drive for most people, but it's worth it once you get here. read more

Big sushi fan, was excited to try this place, and it fell flat for us. I ended up getting the ick and leaving. Unfortunately, the avocado in our sushi rolls was black. Like beyond the stage of starting to brown. Then with the veggie tempura, the batter on the broccoli was raw to the point where I spit it out and it was straight up liquid between the branches. Then my escolar (super white tuna) came out and it was brown....... Not like it was a different type of fish, it was clearly escolar, but was inexplicably mostly brown. Very weird. We went during their 3rd day soft opening and upon entering, their decor is so beautiful. Very upscale and modern vibes. The thought and details they put into decorations really stood out to me. The service was great as well. Ash and Jacob were attentive and checked on us frequently to see if everything is okay. Super friendly and easy going. The food here is awesome. The fishes were fresh. I love that they had mini chirashi and poke bowl options for when youre craving the rice and fish combo. I really love their tonkatsu broth! It was truly rich and bold without it being too salty. I haven't had the opportunity to order any specialty rolls this visit since I got full way too early but that will be an updated review for next time. My husband said that he loves the portion sizes. His favorites were the appetizers such as the edamame, chicken wings, and the robata skewers. My son really loves their salmon hibachi and the cheese puffs! I liked almost everything I ordered, however some of the sushi appetizers could be a bit too salty with too much fried garlic. Overall, this place has a lot of potential. A solid 4.5 stars! I came for lunch and upon walking in, I was amazed at the interior design of modern and contemporary architecture. It was calming to look at. The front also had some claw machines. I decided to go for the bar seating. The waiter and host were extremely sweet and attentive. I ordered several rounds of food for lunch and none of them disappointed me. The appetizers of the boiled egg is the same as the egg you would get when you order ramen. Gooey yolk in the middle marinated in a special soy sauce. The tofu was refreshing. If I had known it only came in a single piece I would've ordered more! The carpaccio was delicious, and I think it's one reason as to what makes this restaurant more unique than other AYCE places nearby. It's a tortilla chip with your choice of fish on top, drizzled in a wasabi type of sauce. Great balance of texture, saltiness of the chip and fish and sweet and tanginess of the sauce. I think it would have elevated a lot more if it was on a fried wonton! The shoyu ramen was delicious. It is definitely higher than the bowl of ramen you get at Sushi Moshi. It came with bamboo shoots, fish cake, baby corn, marinated egg and green onions. The fish were fresh and beautifully assembled. I think fresh sushi is a requirement at an all you can eat restaurant. They did not disappoint one bit. I'm excited to be back again to try different menu items! read more

Maybe it is just the dishes I ordered this time, but I enjoyed every single order that our table got: Philadelphia Roll: Really plump with fish and avocado. Really nice texture. Steak Fried Rice: Nice flavor, would like a little more meat but ordering a robata or hibachi steak is a good addition Beef Robata: A little sweet for me personally, I think I enjoy the hibachi more personally, but there's a nice crunch to the robata. Gyoza: Pretty basic in general, with minimal vegetable filling and being more on the hard rather than crunchy side. Salmon Mango: Good palate cleanser, nice sweetness in the mango adds to the relatively clean flavor of the salmon. Poke Bowl: Filled to the brim with salmon, tuna, squid salad and seaweed salad. Vinegar rice is a little strong. Sky Diver Roll: A lot happening on this roll, but somehow really comes together for a nice bite. Salmon Nigiri: Covered in soy sauce nikiri style. Not personally how I would like it, but my previous assumption about it covering up the freshness of the fish was wrong. Super clean. Spider Roll: Not too much happening special, but spider roll isn't my jam usually anyway. Tonkotsu Ramen: A little one note, but filled with different ingredients that really make it come together. Fried Bao: So warm and crunchy. Goes perfectly with the condensed milk on the side. Good dessert replacement. Steak Hibachi: Very tender and tasty. No notes. Service- Aokicho has adopted the tablet ordering system that many other AYCE restaurants have, and its improved the flow of the meal a lot more. Waiters and servers both really kind. Ambiance- Not much more to add here. The place is still really nice with really cute table and plate design. Yeah. This place is now a banger. I've never experienced such a drastic improvement of a restaurant and my experience in years. Might just be the day, but it is so much better. Coming back soon, Aokicho! First visit at this new AYCE sushi place. We were headed to Sushi Moshi but saw they aren't a BAFL member anymore. There is only one price here, Dinner, at least when we went which was a Sunday at 1pm, so it is more expensive than Sushi Moshi BUT the choices include beef (yes even Kobe beef) and just more selections overall. I saw later someone in a review got a lunch price so maybe that is during the week? If its like Sushi Moshi you dont get those beef selections on the lunch menu and a few less options overall. For my husband the dinner was best option anyway. Place is clean and modern in decor. We were greeted, seated and served promptly. Cody was our server and saw hes had good feedback on other reviews. We agree. He is friendly, attentive and professional! We ate alot. My husband who doesnt care for sushi had the gyoza, cheesepuffs, kobe beef, grilled chicken and beef skewers, udon noodles, pineapple fried rice, coconut shrimp, tempura chicken and shrimp and possibly more I lost track of. I had seaweed salad, gyoza, spicy edamame, some of hubs cheesepuffs and coconut shrimp, shrimp tempura, poke bowl, three handrolls, salmon and tuna sashimi and salmon and tuna sushi. We had to tap about before i could order any rolls but nice selection of those and hibachi and terryaki. Ice cream options for dessert. Everything was fresh! Nice presentation and the serving sizes are perfect so you can try several things. Even hubs who doesnt love this cuisine said we would definitely do again! We stopped by on Day 2 of their soft opening--I've been waiting for this place to open, so it was a pleasant surprise to see it finally up and running. Still not sure when the official grand opening is, but we were excited to give it a try. The decor is super cute, bright, and clean. They even have those fun claw machines up front, which adds a playful touch and keeps the kids entertained. One of the coolest parts is that you can actually watch the chefs making your sushi right behind the counter--always a good sign of freshness and quality. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet with separate pricing for lunch and dinner (dinner is a bit more expensive). On weekends, it's dinner pricing all day. If all you can eat isn't your thing, they also offer a takeout menu, which is a great alternative. I had the Holiday Roll and it was delicious--fresh, clean, and well-prepared. Everything we tried was really good, and even my kids enjoyed everything they ordered, which doesn't always happen! The staff was very attentive and patient, which we appreciated. This place deserves a 4.5/5! The interior decor is very lovely and the medium lighting makes the wooden booths pop. The service was excellent and the servers were very knowledgeable about the different items. The great thing about this place is that they have alot of "new" and different options on the menu compared to the other AYCE places like Ohayo and Sushi Moshi. The owner of Aokicho has hand curated the menu and has put their own twist on the typical rolls you would see. The restaurant has only been open a month and so they are still working out the kinks. Everything that was served was of fresh quality even the sashimi had no smell which is great. Some items were a little too salty in my opinion like the Steak Yakiudon and I did not enjoy the spicy crawfish salad. I am excited for their official Grand Opening and would come again once they have all the kinks figured out. read more

Top notch food and service! Held my husband's 70th surprise birthday party here on 6/14. We had a total of 18 attend. The restaurant is clean and bright, appreciated the music which fit the Japanese theme. You can order off the menu or all you can eat for $32.25 per person. Drinks extra. Catch is, if one person orders ayce, everyone must. I knew that going in so we did ayce. But be sure to come starving!! LOL! Tina, the manager, seated us in a room towards the back. A table was provided along with plates and utensils for the cake I brought and for gifts. We started off ordering directly from our server with a ton of appetizers - edamame - plain and spicy garlic (oh so good!), egg rolls, spring rolls, cheese puffs, tempuras, poke bowls, coconut shrimp, wings, katsu, beef and chicken robata, and more. We were given 4-6 tablets and our server Liam explained how to order off of it. We were able to select our soups, salads and entrees. Everything from sashimi and nigiri, poke bowls, hibachi meals, teriyaki, sushi rolls, fried rice, and much more. Food came out quickly even though the restaurant was busy. My only small complaint would be we had to ask for wasabi and ginger. I would think that would be automatically put out on the tables, but, it was brought out as soon we asked! Liam was helpful and efficient! Drinks were refilled promptly. He took group pictures for us, gave hubby a samurai sword to hold and had a happy bday neon sign to include in the photos! They're trying hard but not ready for prime time. We spent over an hour sitting at the table, waiting for our first order before running out of patience and closing our check. It took 27 minutes alone for water to show up. Out of our order for approximately a dozen items, I think only 3 had shown up after 62 minutes (the point at which we stopped waiting). So in the end it was ~$65 for one edamame, one crab puff plate, and one noodle bowl.
