Our server was new but sweet. She did not have much recommendation but did try and I appreciated that. Her training counterpart server was nice and well versed in their menu. We have been wanting to try this place for a while. And maybe the expectations were set too high. We had heard good feedback. We ordered several items including the recommended crispy tuna, which was good but only 2 pieces. The jalepeno stuffed with shrimp was tasty but very greasy. We got two specialty rolls and they were good but the rice did not have the stickiness to hold together. They have a promotion to buy a gift card and get a gift card free. There is nothing in their promotional details to imply that you could not purchase and use the same day. This is very misleading. The food was decent but the value was not. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. My wife and I were seated and waited approximately 15 minutes without anyone coming to greet us, offer us drinks, or even acknowledge that we were there. During that time, other customers walked in and were greeted almost immediately. Other tables were being attended to and orders were being taken, and the restaurant did not appear to be understaffed or overwhelmed. What made the experience especially uncomfortable was that my wife and I were the only Hispanic customers in the restaurant at the time. Seeing other customers receive noticeably different treatment made us question whether our ethnicity had anything to do with why we were being ignored. I cannot say for certain that this was the reason, but that was genuinely how the situation made us feel. We ultimately decided to leave because we should not have to sit there wondering whether we are being treated differently because of who we are. Everyone who walks into a restaurant should be welcomed and treated with the same level of respect and attention. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and looks into how customers are being treated, because this was not the experience we expected. read more

Atmosphere is a pretty average sized restaurant. It gets pretty packed during dinner time. I ordered the sashimi which came with an assortment of fish pieces on ice. There were about 20 pieces in this bowl. I spent around $34 and for the cost that isn't too bad. The sashimi did taste mid though. The fish didn't taste fresh. I actually tasted the ice on the fish. Yes! Yes! Yes! My girls and I just finished a movie and we needed to grab dinner. We saw Michiru from the parking lot. I will always say yes to sushi! We have been coming here since the day they opened. We have easily spent thousands of dollars here. Today we sat at the bar, the bartender greeted us and then the hostess came and told us we needed to get up because they had reservations to fill. We waited just like everyone else, we sat at an open spot at the bar and then were told to leave. There were 5 open tables to sit their reservations. The hostess was rude and abrupt. Michiru serves high quality sushi presented in a luxurious fashion, and their higher prices reflect such. The servers were kind, attentive, and quick, even for a larger party. The sashimi itself, particularly the salmon and scallops, tasted fresh and full of flavor and were my favorite options. I loved the hand rolls and they were packed well with the protein choice! The restaurant itself is quite small but accommodating, and I find the atmosphere to be best during the nighttime given its dimmer lighting. Okay, Okay...I can't ignore jumping on the compliment train as I have now been here 4 times and each time it is equally consistent in both table service and quality of sushi, sashimi and breadth of bar service. This is truly a gem of a dining experience and should not be missed. I'm not a 'roll' kinda guy so I cannot opine in this arena but I will go to my old regular barometer for sushi which is Uni (I know, I know I should find another barometer as this one is getting old) but I have had both their "Japanese" and "Cali" Uni and either or in my case both are an excellent choice as is Toro, Maguro etc. etc. Great food, great drinks and great service...what more can a Foodie ask for and Michiru delivers on all...BTW...it's not a walk-in place for if you do, you are likely to wait at peak times ...call...make a reservation otherwise you will miss a great dining experience. read more

We came here around 6:30 on a Saturday evening, the first time in quite a few years (prior experiences had been rather average). Wait time for a table was about 20 minutes, so we opted to sit at the bar. Atmosphere was relatively upscale, and service was friendly and helpful. As appetizers we had the crispy rice with tuna and the martini shrimp. Then we had the Toro Special and Hawaii Twin rolls, the latter being our favorite. I also had the Japanese Old Fashioned cocktail, which was pretty good. Everything was well made, and overall we had a great experience. My impression is that there has been some productive restructuring in the years since our last visit. Both the menu and atmosphere have shifted upscale. Based upon this visit, this place has become our new favorite sushi restaurant in the greater Clear Lake area. read more

I guess after seven years I need to update my review here. I live in Atlanta and this is my third office in Pasadena and I always stay down on Clearlake at the NASA Hilton, and years ago I found this gem of a sushi bar. In the last three weeks traveling, I've been here three or four times had great service... Tonight was Teresa, who I will first say, I apologize if you think I was asking too many questions, and bordering creepy- but you read my mind on exactly what I wanted and you made me try Sea urchin, which I had a bad taste of years ago and I have not tried it again and you made me try it and it was fantastic! I ask a lot of questions on how you knew what I wanted whether you were married eat alone what your culture is... Yes from an old man It seems aggressive but I am a foodie. I'm a personal chef part time who will be retiring soon with my own place but I don't do sushi in my fusion cooking styles that I cook in Georgia. I don't make sushi rolls at home only sashimi but I like to see what different demographics are that love sushi and love the combinations, but they also know how to read their customers... so if I ask if you're single where you're from what you like it's to help me learn better my future ideas that I will be serving. So thank you! Just great suggestions and this place gives it. The sushi is fresh. The service is impeccable. The chefs behind the counter are not rookies, and they only serve the best and their presentations are fantastic. I don't look at the cost. I look at the result. I am a sushi, fanatic, and this is where to go in Webster for sushi. No doubt about it the best around! And again, Teresa... If I asked too any questions, that's because I'm an old man and I wanna know how you read my mind lol. Everything you suggested was perfect into the restaurant... Kudos for the great team you have on board. I have never once had a bad meal here a missed item, a late drink or left without being completely satisfied. I sometimes can literally sit for hours keeping you guys there while I keep adding onto the bill which is not fair to the restaurant when I stay till closing because I was in the business and I know what it's like, but I tried to follow the guidelines so they can clean and get out of the restaurant on time. I can't tell you how pleased I am to find a sushi bar, close to my office with such talented help, fresh fish, great service, and great chefs. Highly recommend! All of the servers have been spot on and if you don't try this, you're missing out. Please don't order California rolls because they don't have fresh fish, -ask for suggestions and trust them. Again, I literally ate something tonight that in my mind I didn't want to eat again and my mind was changed. This is the sushi bar to go to for Pasadena or Webster and Clearlake. Enjoy! Great music and exceptional bartender service who understands food allergies and made sure that I didn't have any issues being gluten-free and the fish was delicious and super tasty too. Came here to wait out traffic before heading home to Austin and very pleasantly surprised. Weird waitress though that didn't seem to know TABC rules and chewed out the bartender in front of her bar customers but she held her ground and followed the rules.
