Very Impressed Replacing the Old Country Buffet branch on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown comes Master Grill & Global Buffet. It has been around a year and a half since Old Country closed its Levittown restaurant after over 20 years at that location. My very first thought was that this was going to be yet another Asian buffet (like Chen's across the street) However, while it is an Asian based buffet, it goes way beyond the average buffet of this type. Fans of Old Country Buffet will be pleased to learn that Master Grill & Global Buffet kept OCB favorites like the taco bar (though its indeed smaller and only had the hard shell tacos); a carving station -including meats like brisket and turkey you carve yourself; different types of chicken (nuggets, fried ,baked, & hot wings) a large selection of salads and vegetables; pizza; and many more non-Asian dishes. For those wanted more than "another Asian buffet" Master Grill & Global Buffet is sure to please. Of course, their core is their Asian food... and here too I was very impressed with their selection of Asian dishes and soups (which included two standard soups). Their sushi bar featured a nice variety fresh sushi CLEARLY LABELED ... so I knew I wasn't eating eel (not that there is anything wrong with that if you like that stuff!!!) I counted more than a dozen sushi choices. A very nice addition (and something Old Country briefly tried several years ago) is their hibachi grill... Pick out your ingredients and a hibachi chef will prepare your hibachi dish as you wait (just like at Benihana... but with less dramatics!) My hibachi chicken was done to perfection with all of the ingredients and spices I chose... this alone earns 5 stars as it was excellent. Hibachi meats available included chicken, beef and shrimp...so you can mix and match, go with one meat or go all veggie! The hibachi chef is a true pro! Desserts were standard Asian buffet fare: cookies and cake squares, and what looked like OCB's soft serve ice cream machine (which had vanilla, chocolate and twist). However even here the variety of pastries excelled and included sugar free cookies. Fresh fruit (a nice assortment) and jello were available at the salad area. I truly wish Master Grill & Global Buffet well and hope they keep up the excellent quality. While the Old Country Buffet seemed in decent shape, Master Grill & Global Buffet totally renovated the place with a much more elegant decor and comfortable seating. They also created two separate party rooms (OCB's old one in the back and a larger one in what was once a Thom McAn decades ago in the front - where OCB had additional tables) The sign on the door says "SOFT OPEN" indicating they still have some tweaks to make. I noted some reviews sensed service as a weak point. While I didn't think it detracted in any way from my positive experience here, their staff does need some lessons in courtesy & friendliness (not that they were rude but rather "cold" and inappropriate -like coming over with your check before you are even up to dessert and hovering over you while you do your credit card slip) and their service (IE napkins- some tables had napkin dispensers , some didn't- waitress MIA) could be improved. However as I said these quirks are expected with any new establishment whose "cold open" sig n indicates they consider themselves still in "previews". The overall experience was excellent. read more

Food is still so so but because of good service (getting my used plates fast and refilling my drink before I have to ask), huge selection, and nice decor, I'd have to give an additional star from last time. Don't, just don't. I know that a lot of self-serve buffets on Long Island aren't really of the highest quality but this place takes the cake for poor quality. I actually wanted to vomit before I even put any food in my mouth because the whole place reeked of urine. I took a couple of things that seemed semi-safe to eat like sesame chicken and lo mein, but even that was not fit for human consumption. The chicken was raw!! I've been at the global buffet 3x now (end of Oct 2017, Dec 2017 & tonight), so I think I can now write a fair review. I have to say how extremely ballsy it was for these people to open a Chinese buffet almost directly across the street from Chen's (another Chinese buffet). This used to be the old country buffet & I think there was a year (or close to a year) gap where OCB buffet closed & global buffet opened. Well the ballsy move paid off; they did a fantastic job renovating. The inside is quite spectacular. Completely unrecognizable from what it was before. But looks aside, hows the food?... When this place first opened, I was curious to try it out, but also kind of like, "meh, *another* Chinese buffet?". Their variety of food they offer just can't be topped. It's not just Chinese food, I can't even remember it all to list, but tacos! Salads. Cold pastas. Even the French fries, crispy!!There's also meats, but unlike the OCB, you have to cut it yourself. It's great they also have sugar free options for desserts. Come here hungry & leave food drunk! I personally find the food to be so delicious, unlike some of the other reviewers. If you're sitting against the windows, you are no where near the bathrooms. I sat in a booth tonight BY the bathrooms (by the sushi). I say BY the bathrooms b/c there's a hallway to the bathrooms (I remember that from the OCB). I smelled nothing but the scent of food the 3x I've been here & all 3 visits, I've sat in different locations of the restaurant. I do have to say I gave 4 stars instead of 5 b/c I have to echo another review on here: they are super slow to put food out (all 3 of my visits were on the weekends), lobster is def the slowest to come out & def the 1st to go. The 2nd time I was here, sushi was empty/low & more was not put out. I also saw reviews about flies; tonight I watched a woman swatting 'something' by the cookies. My 3x here was for dinner. I heard their lunch buffet isn't as much as dinner, well that's why lunch is cheaper (duh)! I would say this place is worth to try out at least twice, as you just can't try everything they have to offer on just 1 visit. My wife and I went for lunch to Global Buffet. This replaced the bankrupt Old Country Buffet that was in this location. The restaurant itself is clean and very attractive with plenty of room for diners. There is a great selection of primarily Asian food in the buffet from sushi to Chinese food to a taco bar ( which was terrible). As my usual practice in this type of restaurant I tried many types of food. Among the best were the dim sum and the lo mein. Among the worst was the general hso chicken which was stringy and hard and would have caused the general to change armies.The food was generally good but not very consistent.Service was excellent and I did not feel abandoned. The price to value ratio is about average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was a good experience and I will return in the future to see if they have improved. read more

This is a new, clean buffet. Food has always been fresh, hot and abundant on each visit. Prices are very reasonable during Saturday lunch. My favorite dishes are the beef liver and onions, pan fried eggs and the meifun. There are also cookies to keep the kids busy. read more

Wonderful place to come with the family to enjoy dinner. My last experience was not the best and unprofessional. We were placed in the back room where every table was full. COVID protocols says to stay 6ft apart. The tables were not 6ft apart. In fact we were very close to one another, keep in mind each table had about 5 guest. Management can care less about our safety, they will fill up the place in order to make their money. Oh and once the bill got to us, the waiter kept whispers "shit" and who know what else simply because we didn't leave as fast as he wanted us to go. Not bad food selection. We had a half hour wait with no seats for us older folks. With generous tip for 4 people we left 80 dollars. So, not bad at $20 a head. My stomach also likes "Chen's Buffet City". They took a big hit when Global opened up across the street. So your choice. The Mrs and I hit the Chinese buffets I guess 2 times a month and an occasional lunch with the boys from the Nassau Amature Radio Club. (K2GK). I frequent this place often with my family. Because buffets ate easy when you have a toddler who is a picky eater. It's very nice on the inside and the staff are very friendly, even in the most busy nights their on point and quick to take empty plates and refill drinks. I enjoy the Kani salad from here. It's the one thing I always get. My husband and son like that they can make tacos it's their favorite part. Will keep coming back. read more

I went here on a Thursday afternoon with family for lunch. Large selection of foods, my favorite was the sushi. The bathrooms were also very shiny and clean. My only complaints was that the "baked salmon" wasn't actually salmon but some other cheaper fish, and that the taco shells at the taco bar weren't crispy at all. Went there last week for the first time. Basic all you can eat buffet with emphasis on Chinese. Sushi bar (which I don't really care about) and grill. They had a carve your own roast which honestly looked like it had been at least three days old and was dried out from sitting under the warming lights. They didn't have crab legs which Chen's across the street does and they didn't have coconut shrimp they had "mayonnaise shrimp" which was something I had never heard of but it wasn't bad at all. Desserts were standard Chinese buffet fare, the crappy little cakes and cookies and such. No ice cream that I saw. Place was very clean but I went on a Wednesday and it wasn't crowded so maybe that had something to do with it. All in all, was worth the visit but Chen's is a few dollars less and has basically the same food so I may as well go there. read more

I'm going to say this place is awesome. I eat there at least 2x a week. The selection of food is great. I'm a seafood lover and am pretty satisfied with their selection of shrimp, muscles, etc. They even have broil crawfish. Had that the first time. will not say I'm a fan of it. Wished they had lobster but it's probably too expensive. The price for lunch is 7.50 plus tax. Not bad. I always leave with a full stomach and wanting more the next day. Was very excited to experience my first buffet with my family last weekend. So we chose to come here, had a wide selection of food to choose from, and looked pretty clean. We had a horrible experience at the sushi station. We waited to ask the sushi chef if he could kindly make a Inari roll without the fish egg on top, and he yelled and shoed us a way with his hands. We have never experienced someone treat us so rudely at a food establishment before. We were baffled with his behavior to treat customers this way. It ruined out whole lunch. So there are some really good things and also some not very good. First off, the wait time to be seated was not long at all. When asked they will seat you at a table, but you need to ask. Drinks are extra but that was expected. Food was ok. Nothing to rave about. There are a lot of options and yes it is rotated often but most of it is standard fare. Desert had a lot of options to pick though. Biggest issue was the fire alarm and system going off about a third of the way into the meal. It was not resetting at all but nothing seemed to be done about that for the diners who were there. Service was also mediocre.
