At one point tbe shumai wete getting a little skimpy and over time some dishes have gotten smaller with rising costs and shrinkflation (but I'm comparing this over 25 years) the quality though has never wavered. The decor is still the same as it always has been. Francis one of the managers has been working there forever and is always running things seamlessly as the severs navigate the busy restaurant. I just have a lot of love for this place Today we went for dimsum. The rolling carts are only done on weekends but dimsum or full dishes anything you get here hits. My dimsum staples: shumai, shrimp dumplings, stuffed eggplant, salt and pepper squid, beef or shrimp rice noodles. 1-3-26. This place has been around for quite some time, but this was my first time visiting. We ordered an appetizer sampler which came with shrimp shumai, seafood shumai and pork and shrimp dim sum. Also ordered the steamed pork bun. They were all very good. Hot and sour soup was delicious and the Hong Kong wonton soup was very tasty as well. Beef and broccoli entree was excellent. Beef chow fun was really good....... It had a great wok flavor and was extremely tasty and satisfying. Wait staff was excellent...... very friendly and attentive. I recently had dim sum at another place, and all I could think was how much I missed fortune wheel! My whole family have been loyal customers here since they opened, with my parents even having their engagement party here back in the 90's. We come to fortune wheel for lunches, dinners, birthdays, graduations, and of course Chinese new year. Sometimes they have off days, usually if it's not crowded and they're not cranking out as much food, but the dim sum service at fortune wheel is almost always fantastic. For dim sum you have to get their foo juk. It's one of my all time favorite foods, basically a tofu skin roll filled with pork, mushrooms, and veggies. The shrimp and scallion dumplings are amazing too, and when they have them, the fried shrimp balls are what dreams are made of!!! I also love their classic siu mai, baked char siu bao, and triangular char siu pastries that flake apart and melt in your mouth. The har gao are delicious, and so are their red bean filled sesame balls. Sautéed pea shoots, baby bok choy, and Chinese broccoli are always fresh, garlicky, and crunchy- never overcooked. Their dan tat are very pleasant, and when we're done feasting we've received fortune cookies, orange slices and lychees for a light refreshing dessert. Their dinner options are equally fantastic. Recently for my grandfather's 80th birthday we had a big banquet with all his favorites, and they pulled out all the stops. Of course we had the long hand pulled noodles, a whole fried fish with meat that fell off the bone, Chinese broccoli, fried rice with chicken and vegetable stir fry, eggplant with shrimp (forgetting the name of the dish), shrimp balls, and a delicious juicy soy sauce chicken served rather amusingly with a side of Pringles. Their jasmine tea is also the best, and they've got the good teapots that allow minimal leaves and flowers into your cup. Overall, I only gave it 3 stars due to the fact they threw us in some dark corner and with steps which means none of the dimsum ladies came and when we ordered the things we wanted also never came and letting the waiters know what we wanted ALSO never came...did I also mentioned we asked for the bill and usually they just do the math and you pay up front. This restaurant is next to Bj's wholesale store, they serve Dim Sum. And dinner. As you walk in there are tanks with live fish, crab, and lobster. Saturday and Sunday they have rolling carts that go around with different Dim Sum so you can pick out what you want. During weekday you need to ordered from menu and they will make to order, which I think is much better than on weekend, the food comes out hot and freshly made. We ordered pan fried noodles with chicken, and a shrimp patty with taro root thinly slice and deep fried, so good, fried shrimp balls, sesame ball with lotus paste filling, and e-fu noodle bland and too much moisture. Once a year during our family visit, it's a must stop here to Fortune Wheel. It was a bit busy here on Memorial Day weekend but as a party of 3, we didn't have to wait long at all. My uncle is a regular here so he knows what to order to please my palate. He ordered sliced conch that was steamed (I think) with bean sprouts and green onions. It was really good and fresh. Not fishy, not tough, a very clean taste. We also had chive and shrimp dim sum along with braised chicken feet, veggie wrapped in bean curd and dry beef chow fun. The chow fun needed a bit more salt and some wok hey. I wish we had gotten the soft shell crabs because we just can't get them like this in Cali. Next time! Fortune Wheel has been around for a while and is one of the few places to go for legit dim sum on Long Island from what I've gathered. I last came here with some friends a long time ago, but came back recently with some friends for lunch. The place is located in the same strip mall as BJ's, Best Buy, and LA Fitness, so it's pretty busy. Inside, there are a bunch of tables and nothing too special besides some fish tanks and such. I have to say that all the food we got was very good. Some of the items we got were the shumai, rice rolls with shrimp inside, taro, soup dumplings, fried rice, spring rolls, eggplant, and fried buns with greens and shrimp inside. My favorite was definitely the rice rolls with shrimp inside. So the food was great, but the thing that brings the review down is that I found the place to be a bit pricey. We were a party of 3 and the bill came out to $67. With tip included we spent about $81, so that's about $27 a person. I personally don't feel like we got an overwhelming amount of food or service for the amount that we paid, so I don't feel like the value is really there w/ this establishment. A few other spots for dim sum have opened up on Long Island in recent years, so it may be worth checking them out first if you want dim sum without traveling out to Queens. read more

TLDR: Solid authentic Cantonese cuisine in Long Island. Come for dim sum on the weekends (they can also make fresh during the week) and feast on all of your staple Cantonese favorites. For someone who has been coming here for literally more than two decades, I should have wrote this a long time ago. Fortune Wheel fills that void for people who want Cantonese food in LI but don't want to trek out to Flushing, Brooklyn or Chinatown. The dim sum on the weekends is excellent. They have fish tanks like a proper Cantonese restaurant and you can come get your steamed fish, fried fish, lobster, etc. There's really no dish I've had here I dislike. The things that I recommend are the soft shelled crab, salt/pepper pork chops, beef chow fun, steamed pork patty with salted fish, etc. My personal favorite is true Cantonese lobster sauce with the ground pork, black bean sauce, egg and lobster on top of pan-fried noodles. read more

One of the few decent places thar still do the good ole steam carts for Dim Sum. I LOVE IT. Unfortunately one of the seating areas is elevated with a couple stairs preventing the steam carts from advancing. However, the hard working staff makes an effort to put as much Dim Sum plates on a tray for you as possible allowing you to point and choose like everyone else. The staff here are friendly, inviting and work efficiently. The restaurant itself looks like a typical Chinese restaurant complete with the lobster aquarium at the front. To my knowledge, they have Dim Sum everyday from 11am to 3pm. Now for the Dim Sum itself, it's absolutely delicious. Each Dim Sum plate that I have had failed to disappoint me. They all had good quality, flavor and created a conversation within the table everytime you get a new one. I tried almost all of their dumplings and I have had only one complaint and it seemed to be an isolated issue. There was a tiny bone in one of my Pork Shumai plates which must have got mixed in there during preparation from the meat itself. I ordered this many times for many years coming here and this only happened once on my last visit. Other than that, their dumplings are seasoned very well and the proteins are recognizable which is always a good sign. I do notice that their spicy sauce that they provide as well as the spicy mustard is actually very spicy for the typical American. Not stereotyping but I think it's safe to say that it's very spicy but delicious. Being from Brooklyn, I've been spoiled with delicious dim sum my entire life. Finding a legit dim sum restaurant in Long Island can be quite the task. I've been to Fortune Wheel two times and both times, the food was good. I'm lucky that Fortune Wheel is relatively close to where I live now. I should go more often. The dim sum is good but not the best I've had. However, it does fulfill my dim sum cravings. The food could also be hotter. I also wish the employees were more attentive towards everyone, not just towards the regulars that go there. The restaurant can get crowded so I would recommend going a little earlier (like at noon). Fortune Wheel can be hard to find. It's sandwiched between Best Buy and BJs. After lunch, you can go shopping in the area or maybe catch a movie! read more

What a change: limited hours (Thurs-Sunday), socially distance tables (less tables), less waiters though very attentive service, and still the same quality of food. Not many authentic sit-down Chinese restaurants on Long Island but this one is definitely a gem. Lots of delicious dim sum options & affordable prices comparable to Chinatown. It's located in a shopping center next to BJs but the outside is super small so you might drive right past it if you're not careful. My favorite dish was the shrimp and chive dumplings which were delicious and fried flat instead of typical dumpling shape. The stuffed eggplant (stuffed with shrimp) was also tasty and different from usual eggplant dishes. They have plenty of large round tables for bigger groups and service is pretty quick. I've tried their dim sum, pan fried noodles, hor fun and stew casseroles and each dish has been up to par and meets my standards. Prices are also reasonable given the current inflation.
