I was visiting family in Long Island and my uncle without fail always brings us to a buffet when we are in town. Global Buffet is a huge restaurants inside a large brick building and is hard to miss. There is plenty of parking as it sits in a large shopping area. We came on a random weekday and I was surprised how busy this place was. We were a slightly large group so it did take a minute for them to put some tables together. Customer service was great from start to finish. Our table stayed clean and our drinks stayed full. My uncle footed the bill, but I glanced at the prices and they are very reasonable here. The buffet setup is massive. I've honestly only seen bigger in Vegas. They had about 3 rows of foods. On top of that, off to the side, they have salad and dessert bars, a hibachi station, and a large sushi station. As the name of the restaurant suggests, the offerings are truly global. They have a variety of different cuisines but the main focus is Chinese food. I had a flight to catch after this meal so I took it a little easy on my intake. I started off with sushi. For a buffet, the sushi was actually pretty decent. Set your expectations correctly and you will enjoy it. Everything else I tried throughout the buffet was good. Highly enjoyed the food that I had here. Staff was quick and getting refills and getting rid of your dirty dishes was a little bit pricey, but worth it for the variety of food that they had. Once again I wrote an entire review that somehow did not process to Yelp. The short of the repeat here is that the place has been around for many years and is in the Tricounty shopping center on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. Todays visit with friends, I met a lovely young woman at the front, found plenty of seating, wait service for the basics and buffet large choice of foods to choose from. At 1 pm there were still a few breakfast bits in trays, sausage well cooked but french toast dry and over cooked in the heat tray and light. Yet the few pieces were there from breakfast. Being a vegan, I am happy eating here because there are many vegetables, salad items, and fruits to eat. Although the pureed sweet potatos have marshmellows amongst it, I carefully take spoonfuls from between the marshmellows. Some of the food is a little bit too salty. Also the spinach has cheese on it so I flip it over and scrape the spinach into my plate, trying to avoid the cheese. The place is decorated nicely, and looks clean. Tempting but this will not cost them a star. We went today after 1:30 and found that the place was exceptionally crowded. My favorite thing is the fried chicken wings. When I arrived, the tray was, simply empty. On normal days, they would fill it back promptly. I saw a woman adding more food to the trays (lots of them were empty or almost). I asked her if chicken wings would be arriving soon. She answered me in Chinese and I don't think it translated to have a nice day. The place is bigger than most chinese buffet spots, they also have a varied selection of food. The sushi bar has a good selection & looks fresh. The food at the buffet area are well presented & replenish fast. Our waitress is also attentive and refills our sodas & water as soon as we are low as well as collect our used dishes without us asking Not the best buffet ive been to but i can say the food is fresh & maybe lower in sodium than most all you can eat places i have been to. I have had a love/hate relationship with this place for 10 years now. After last night- it's now OVER. Firstly ; the dinner went up greatly in price. But I always got away with avoiding the greasy food here. I would mainly have the sushi (basically "supermarket grade" sushi ) and the shrimp , salad and appetizers. I never got sick from here. So last night I tried a chicken & green pepper dish (from the greasy side). While eating it ....I got a ... KAY-RUNCH in my mouth that turned out to be a small piece of GLASS. I saw some sparkling tiny shards on my finger after I scooped out my pre-chewed mouthful. So I knew it was glass and not sand or ceramic. I rinsed out my mouth with soda and spit it out into the flimsy napkins they provide. I should have alerted the waitress, but I felt like she would not be very responsive. I came here last week with my parents and uncle. The ambiance was good. Seating were plentiful along with ample parking. If this review was based on my first visit I would give it 4 stars. However, today I tried to make a reservation for Sunday for 20 people and were denied because they said they only take reservations for 24 people. In order for me to make a reservation I would have to pay for all 24 guests even though I would only be coming with 20. They then proceeded to tell me that we can call them sunday 30 minutes prior to arrival and they will set something up for me. Which does not make sense given the fact that I have 20 people in my party which would require multiple tables. Absolutely mortified by the situation and the customer service. Desserts are plentiful, but with the exception of the cream puffs. not very tasty - and just odd picks to serve at a buffet. Fruit is mostly all in heavy sugary syrup. Just unappetizing and cheap. Apparently there was ice cream, but I think we were all over the place and just wanted to get out of there. Additionally, for anyone with food sensitivities or allergies - this is probably not the place for you! When asked if they cook with MSG, the hostess went to ask someone who told her all of the Chinese food has MSG in it. Very disappointing. You don't need to cook with MSG if you have high-quality ingredients. For those with allergies, don't expect to eat here and have a safe experience. There is a sign up regarding the Hibachi station being unwilling to clean or have separate utensils for cooking. So should you have an allergy, this is not the place to go! Potential and very likely cross contamination at its worst. Overall, I wasn't surprised by what I saw. This is your typical buffet. Overpriced and underwhelming. Lots of selections of food. Nothing of which I would put on my plate. We will not be returning. As a side note ....strange signage when you walk in (that does not relate to our experience here, but I feel compelled to comment). There's a sign in the front of the restaurant saying that if your child is between the ages of 6-10 AND under 5 feet tall. they can eat at a child's reduced price. It seems like a lot of buffets on LI were wiped out during corona times, as there aren't a lot left. I recently tried out Global Buffet and it seems like its main competitor is DJ's International Buffet in Westbury (or maybe they're owned by the same people; who knows). This place used to be Old Country Buffet and is located right next to Tri-County. This place seemed pretty nice and spacious inside. I came on a weekday and was seated right away. The price of the lunch buffet on weekdays is the best thing about this place; it's $14 for an adult. I ordered a soda ($2.50) as well and my total bill came out to be $17.90 after taxes. So it seems realistic to pay under $20 w/ tip included. So I noticed they seemed to have a bit less of a selection compared to DJ's. Some of the food choices I remember are a sushi section, takeout chinese food style section, soup section, and taco station. I believe they had some type of shellfish; I think they were mussels or oysters. And they have a hibachi section too, which I did not try. The main thing I usually get is the sushi, and I had a few plates. The sushi section was just ok; I did appreciate that they had fake crabstick sushi (my personal favorite), but they didn't have a huge selection. In addition, the sushi definitely wasn't as fresh as it could be; you could tell they just leave the sushi out for a while as it gets really dry and the avocado on the california rolls were getting pretty brown. In addition, they didn't have any salmon or tuna sushi out when I got there and I had to ask the guy to make more. Any half decent buffet would make sure their plates are always stocked so this wasn't a good sign. Once the sushi did come out though, it wasn't bad. The desert choices were just ok, but I have to give them credit for having my favorite item: rainbow cookies. So all in all, you definitely get what you pay for here. It's cheap for a reason, but I'd still say Global Buffet is worth it and would recommend, as long as you temper your expectations first. read more

A buffet during COVID-19??? I can't believe it. Ambience: They take your temperature upon entry and give every customer a pair of plastic gloves because ... (drum roll) the food is self serve!!! On one level, this is a great reminder of how things used to be...however...we are still in COVID and this is DANGEROUS. Especially since I saw some people walking around the food WITH NO MASKS ON ... and employees didn't say anything to them!!! Food: Buffets are known for their quantity, not quality. I had been to Global before the pandemic and the quality (and quantity of selections) seem to have gone down. As a kid I absolutely used to love going to buffets with my family and was happy to discover this one not too far from parents. I was unfortunately, extremely disappointed with the service, cleanliness, ambience, and food at this Buffet and honestly feel like I might be turned off from buffets forever. We were sat in a back corner with a dusty table and literal flies flying around us. The food was lackluster and void of any flavor, parents not watching their kids touch buffet items, and just the overall vibe of this place is chaotic and messy. This place has gone seriously downhill over the last few years . I recently returned for 5 meals after a 3 year hiatus due to my disgust with sanitary issues . Although some employees are really gems , from the lobby to the kitchen , some servers actually resent your lingering too long over dessert and fruit at the end of your meal ( believe it or not ! ) . I went weekly before the Covid years and immediately after , lingering with a book after my two hot plates...... BUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE NOW ! This buffet has been heavily reviewed on Google. It was one of the deciding factors for our group tonight to choose this place for dinner. We were craving a buffet of sorts and this was the closest Chinese buffet in all of Long Island from Deer Park. I actually wanted to rate it at 2 stars for just being okay and having some things here and there. It really is just like any other Chinese buffet you could find in all of NYC/NYS. But I feel like this one was a little more special. They had a large assortment of cuisines. They had a little something for everyone. I think ever since opening in 2017, this place has at least tried to cater to everyone. COVID hit the restaurant industry hard of course but even now, some of their staff still wore masks and cleaned tables and cleaned the floors constantly. The food wasn't mediocre but none of us were expecting anything lavish either. Most of the food was decently hot if not warm. I liked the majority of their seafood here, the crawfish are very large and flavorful, very good stock they're cooked in. The ginger lobster was disappointing, lacking flavor even though it was coated in battery and sauce. The crabs were also a let-down. But the rest of the seafood was better than okay but not too wild. Generally, Asians go for the shell food when at a Chinese buffet or any buffet really. Their coconut shrimp was apparently really good. Their vegetables were also surprisingly very crisp and fresh which I loved. Their ice cream machine ran out of vanilla and everyone that was waiting for the machine wanted vanilla over chocolate so that was unfortunate. It was close to closing time so I assumed they just didn't want to refill the vanilla being so close to closing up. This is not McDonald's though. A lot of our plates weren't being taken after being eaten and having gone up for another round of food. They were just left sitting there on the table. For a buffet service to go smoothly, this is one of the only and one of the most important services that servers should be doing. Instead, the customers were left to Tetris around their own dirty plates to be comfortable in eating. The servers treated the small room that we had been seated in as their communal employee area and just lounged there while waiting as we were settling the bill. It felt a little hawkish and uncomfortable. Now finally, the price. I haven't been here pre-COVID but I think that $22.99 an adult is a little steep for the quality of buffet food we were having along with the just-okay quality of service. The ambiance is great, very fancy setting and honestly makes me feel like I'm eating at some 4/5 star restaurant. The choice of food is vast. Fresh veggies, sea food, fried chicken, French fries, sushi, pizza, create-your-own fried rice/noodles, Chinese varieties of chicken, salmon, .... I mean... they have it all.
