Worst experience EVER in a "restaurant". Read on ... Can I give this a ZERO rating? So I can here to just grab some food on a break. Normally, I wouldn't get shrimp however I decided to take a few at first on my first serving. Went on to a second plate and got a bunch more and realized on one of them that it was not deveined (meaning ur eating the shrimp's with it). I initially thought it may have just been a single one so I checked my other ones. I quickly realized that none of them are. Quickly added a tip for ppl to stay away frm the shrimp and asked to speak with the manager. [I tried to quietly mention to the manager what I found (hoping to get some resolve OR AT LEAST an apology from her - only to get NEITHER).] Now I get it, it's a buffet right? You can't expect this stuff to be done at a high standard, right? Back to the manager who comes to my table. I explain this whole thing and basically she says (paraphrased) "yeah we don't devein ANY of our shrimp -- I mean we're only charging people 14.95 for our buffet. If you went to other restaurants who charge that just for a shrimp dish, yeah they'd devein it." As I continued to just figure this out the more she began to almost laugh the whole situation away (which got me more frustrated that you don't even care enough to - at the very least apologize to the customer). And then if that wasn't enough, she ended up saying the dreaded phrase ... "your people" as she tried to justify how some people don't care about shrimp that are not deveined and those that do. If it wasn't for the fact that I really didn't wanna make a scene in front of their other customers, I would've definitely REALLY LET THEM HAVE IT! All this to say (1) I think the only thing there that you can "guarantee" isn't screwed up is probably the salad and water (hopefully - who knows - maybe they'll find a way to screw that up too) (2) stay the HECK AWAY FROM ANY OF THEIR SEAFOOD! This Buffet is excellent! I moved to NY 8 years ago and am an avid buffet goer! Obsessed if you will. However, long island did not have one good buffet and I tried almost every buffet in Nassau County lol. It was the normal chinese owned places where all the food tasted the same - like crap. I saw this buffet took place of the old country buffet and that it was a mixture of food so I had to try it. If you are high maintenance and expect high quality food...then you shouldn't be going to buffets period. In NY at least. If you enjoy a good old natural buffet for cheap and a fantastic selection of foods - then I highly recommend since there is no golden corral here. Beautiful atmosphere! I came on a Friday night at 6pm, not too crowded yet but boy did the people start flowing in at 7 pm. (have you - the food could be completely different on a week night as most buffets are) The food actually tasted GOOD. It has a huge selection and everything in perfect order of cold table , seafood table, self meat carving table that consisted of turkey, ham, something else i didnt eat, brisket (was the best so tasty with the juice on it), typical chinese table, american food table, salad table, sushi area, hibachi area, alottttt of dessert choices. Ice cream was ok, ive had better. If you are like me who tries literally a little bit of everything just to try - you will be surprised by what items taste awesome. I dont ever just go and eat only one thing because every buffet is different with different cooks. I was impressed by how the food tasted. I obviously didnt like everything but u take a bite, leave it if u dont like it so u can save belly room and then get seconds at the end of what you liked the best. Thats what I do. Although there was so much damn food i only was able to go up for seconds once. I am still so full to the brink of death and its been an hour since I left! The host was so pleasant! My waitress Cindy was really nice and filled up my water instantly every time I finished it and was on top of cleaning up my dishes. Having newly opened across the street from Chen's I decided to give them a try. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is beautiful. There are lovely chandeliers and nicely decorated interior. The food is another story. Although I arrived at 6:30, when most places would be starting to fill for dinner, the serving platters were nearly empty. The sushi, while many people have written that they like it labeled, was mislabeled! And nearly gone. The rolls that were there looked faded and sticky. Some of the avocado was brown. Ginger was also dwindled down to the bottom of the bowl. The same held true for all the other stations. There was a huge tray of shellfish being poured into the serving tray. Everyone clambered around. The sign said "for dinner only". I tried some (clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari) but most of it was in edible. The clams looked kind of raw and stretchy. The other items were tasteless. I lost my appetite for this dish. While at the buffet the floor was slippery. I did not know why until I felt a large drop hit my head. Fortunately it was only water from a leaky ceiling. The dessert station is nicer than most Asian buffets. More variety and a soft serve machine. The only two dishes that tasted good were the baked clams and the sweet potato marshmallow casserole. Overall, Global Buffet makes Chen's seem like a 5 star gourmet restaurant. Most of the food is just ok and most of the sushi is low quality. However the hibachi is very good. They do not take your temperature and do not male you wear the gloves they provide (the server did not even mention them, they were just on the table in ziplocs). read more

Food: F- , Let's start with Ribs, i'm not sure how you can mess rib up and also my favorite Korean rib, it's was sooooo Sweeeeet, It's inedible. I'm not a picky person but this after 1 bite, I just couldn't eat it anymore. The Dim Sum.., too dry and room temperature. The Fried sweet and sour fish was not bad, I had 2 of them. Cleanliness: C, looks pretty clean to me, but the plates... few of them still dirty and one or two of them had food stuck between them plates. Just gross. It was okay. The selection of entree type of food wasn't huge.... Tons of sides however. All of the meat we did grab was cold, so I wouldn't recommend any of the meat. I know a few other reviewers had mentioned that their meat was cold/raw and I thought maybe it was a fluke but it wasn't, it happened to us too. Overall it was just okay and what we did eat tasted good. I wasn't impressed with the dessert station and I wish they had toppings for the ice cream station. Slightly (just slightly) disappointed that Old Country Buffet was gone cause they had the best fried chicken. Excited to see that another buffet would be taking its place. Poor Chen's across the street. Anyhow, eagerly awaited the opening and went with my family on a Wednesday night. What a gorgeous job they did with the renovations! You'd never know what the place was before. They sat us in a booth against the windows, across from the bathrooms. There was a lingering scent of urine, as if they just mopped the bathrooms AND THEN the dining room. The food looked good and there was plenty to choose from, even a Mongolian grill and a taco bar. That's where it ends. The food was ICE cold and dried out. The steam tables were working to capacity but the dishes weren't even warm. Every time we walked back to our table, there was that lingering smell. Sad, we Had such high hopes for this place. Don't think will be trying it again *Revisited today and it has much improved. Ok call me a glutton. My 2nd weekend at an all you can eat buffet and this ones even better. Lunch selections ranged from selecting your ingredients and having someone cook for you w a selection of sauces to whole fish, raw clams, shrimp, sushi. I hear they have lobster at dinner time. So a Saturday lunch is only 8.99! On Sunday, its $14.99- go figure. It seemed clean and service was prompt. No one ushered you out or timed you lol. The only kinda big draw back was that the long hallway to the wash room permeated with the smell of urine. A deduction of 2 stars since this could really ruin your appetite. Oddly enough the actual bathroom did not smell, so don't sit next to the bathroom is my advice. Hopefully this isn't a sign of how clean the food prep area is. Went here for lunch today. They redid the whole place as this used to be an Old Country Buffet. The place looks beautiful. Food: the food was mediocre at most. The Chinese portion I had was pretty good but I think even the local takeout does it better. The "Other" food they had was pretty gross. Corned beef and cabbage was like leather, meatballs that were once frozen. Then they had a breakfast area with pancakes and eggs that looked like they have been sitting there for hours. Dessert was your typical Chinese buffet dessert with a bunch of pre packaged cakes and a few sugar free cookie options. They did have pretty good ice cream. Overall I think it was just OK - I think I will give it another shot but I wasn't too impressed this visit. read more

Not sure if my bad intestinal experience the very next morning after eating here was from the buffet or not, but I won't take the chance again. I've been to this place before with my friends and we had a blast. To celebrate our completion of finals, we decided to go back to the same buffet. However, the customer service was not that great compared to the first time around. The waitress kept hounding us about paying for our food, even when most of us weren't done eating. She even bought out the checks for us when we didn't even tell her we were ready to pay. On top of that, she practically forced us to tip her when her service was mediocre at best. I would not have a problem with tipping since I did tip the first time but the fact that she demanded a tip from us felt a bit rude to me. Another issue I didn't appreciate is when she tried to get my attention, she rudely waved a receipt towards my face and said "hello" with attitude when a simple, polite, "excuse me" would suffice. If I can't get the food I want what is the point of going to a buffet? If the only items that seem to be available are fried bread or french fries, I should've went to Mcdonalds. I stumbled upon this place searching in Yelp. I must say this place has a good selection of food. Many types of seafood, Taco salad bar, liver and onions with bacon, several chicken dishes, pizza, fries, two types of chicken wings AND they had a breakfast bar set up with fried eggs, spam, waffles, potatos and other stuff. The desert bars itsself is three or four tables. Sushi was fresh and the Hibachi bar was a favorite of many while I was there. Lunch on a Saturday was 10 bucks!!!! The quality and vast selection of food makes this my favorite lunch spot. You have to go check it out. read more

Food: Was okay, nothing to be amazed about ... they had a taco section with the most watery cheese sauce ever ... the beef was so uncooked , super hard ... the best thing they probably had was the fried shrimp ... Service: my waitress was uncaring , just went we went to sit down she actually acknowledge me and when she went to hand me the bill. She gave my boyfriend bad looks when he asked for refills ... when she handed me the bill she didn't even say thank you just pointed at the "suggested tip" ... since I left her less than what was "suggested" for such a lame service .. she chased me down while walking out with my son and fiance saying I had to leave her what was "suggested" ... she needs to be more knowledgeable of her customers if she wants such a huge tip ... never coming back here ! I ate at Global Buffet for the first time yesterday. My son & his family love this place. We arrived around two, in the afternoon, with eight people. I don't know why the hostess took us way, way back to a crowded room, when the place was quite empty because the lunch crown had left. She mentioned that we had three senior citizens and I told her, "Yes, and we will not walk all the way back to get our food!" I was livid but civil. She realized we were very unhappy with having to walk so far back to the food and took us way back to the front. There were plenty of empty tables for eight, there. After this bad start, everything else was FANTASTIC. The service was impeccable; our used dishes were removed almost instantly and our refill drinks were bought to us, quickly. There was a huge array of different foods and I was so busy eating my favorite dishes, I forgot to try the sushi. I will have to come back again. The buffet price was reasonable and I highly recommend this Global Buffet. read more

My husband, my son and I went to Global Buffet for dinner last night. Prior to COVID-19, this place was a favorite. We have been extremely cautious, and since we are all vaccinated, we figured we'd give it a try. As we all know, the vaccines are not foolproof. According to the restaurant's website, proper precautions seemed to be in place. Unfortunately, this was not the case yesterday. Right from the beginning, as we waited in the bar area to be seated, a group of young men came in with masks either below their noses or being used as chin guards. No one said a word to them. We were seated shortly after, and that seemed ok. Every other booth was being utilized. We were given a baggie containing gloves and little handi-wipes. The real problems began when we got up to get our food. Not only was there no social distancing, I would say maybe 50% of the people actually bothered to wear the gloves! They were touching all of the serving pieces with their bare hands. One girl was actually digging through the plates to retrieve one from the middle of the stack. Another man was touching all of the spoons and putting them back near the ice cream area. I complained several times to the waitstaff, but they completely ignored me. I went to far as to chastise people for not wearing gloves. Not one single employee was supervising the food area or making sure safety rules and COVID-19 compliance were adhered to. Mainly, I'm upset at myself for not leaving immediately. My family and I felt completely unsafe in that environment and you can be sure we will not be returning. read more

This place is just okay the food is decent quality most of the time. I do not like that the food in the buffet is never hot enough. At times although it's busy the food sometimes looks like it has been sitting. I think they need to keep the food hotter and throw away the stuff that looks like it's been in the buffet all day. read more
