Living in the area for over 30 years, and I finally ate at this staple in Babylon. My expectations were higher. Neither my hubby or I was overly impressed with the food. I got a BLT wrap for breakfast. Bacon was horrible, (microwaved maybe??) and my wrap was on the super thin/ light side with way more tortilla than it had contents. Hubby said pancakes were overcooked and he could do a better job at home without ever trying. Our breakfast didn't have any compliment sides to them either. Good if you don't want to overeat and want portion control. Staff was friendly. Street parking. FYI, Cash only. And from what I understand, weird hours. It was nice to finally try it, and I love the old fashioned vibe,... But, in the future we're going to a diner and getting a little more bang for the same amount of buck. read more

Such a sweet setup and the food is delicious! This place is cash only so be sure to have enough on you for a nice tip, because everyone is so kind. I love going here for the egg sandwiches and avocado. My boyfriend loves the huevos rancheros. They also have lots of vegetarian options which is wonderful. Great simple casual breakfast. Been several times for breakfast & love it. Only drawbacks are that the place is small & cozy so there is usually a wait. Service has also been lackluster with older waitresses but we deal for a good cozy casual breakfast. Pancakes are great, French toast is great. First off, as a Long Islander the only town I find completely magical is Babylon. There is something so wonderful about that entire area. Especially the park which is a short walk away from this diner. If you're looking for a good place to get lunch and spend the afternoon this is it. This diner makes me feel like I'm walking into a time machine. The staff is completely helpful and lovely. The menu is perfect. I especially love the eggs. What do they put in their eggs here to make them so delicious? normally I'm not big on breakfast foods but you can bet I am when I'm eating at Glen's Dinette. I love this place. Best breakfast in town! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I just wish they were open later.

The food is great the only problem is with Glenns Dinette is they have a sanitary issue going on there in the restaurant. The restaurant is using unsanitized untensils dirty pots/pan s other cookware which is a health hazard . Customers have seen pests in the facility where they serve food . Glenns dinette needs a pest control to rid of critters crawling around including bugs cockroaches. Other than these issues the food is just great as long these pests don't bother you when crawling around you while you're eating . read more

Very disappointed with my visit last Friday for lunch. I ordered a sandwich special which was $8.45. Sandwich was OK, but it was accompanied by a SLIVER of pickle and a tiny "shot" of potato salad. Two bites and....gone. My friend ordered a grilled ham and cheese. No french fries, tiny pickle, tiny cole slaw. The waitress tried to make me a vanilla egg cream, and after 2 attempts I just took it for what it was. One thin napkin per diner and no one checked up on how our food was. Every time I go there its nothing short of the best. I love the atmosphere and the people. They will always go out of their way to please you. The cooks are fantastic and you can even watch them cook right in front of you if you sit at the counter. Whether you're hungry for some pancakes or waffles, hamburgers or salmon burgers, everything on the menu will be surely outrageous. I've lived in West Islip my whole life (45 years) and have heard of Glenn's Diner but have never been. Today that all changed. Went for lunch. Great burgers!! great fries!! Good service with good prices. How can you go wrong. Will go back for breakfast next time. read more

Great vanilla egg cremes when I was really little I'd get breakfast before I went on big trips

This is the 4th time I've been here - the last 3 times were okay, I've enjoyed the food and service. The Idaho is delicious. However, this time I was very unimpressed and would never go back. The service was unfriendly and rude - had to ask several times for things such as coffee - food came out 10 minutes apart, which was awkward. Was never checked on, nor asked if everything was okay. When we did ask a question, it was met with a rude answer or attitude. This put a complete bad taste in my mouth and I'd rather go to the Atlantis Diner any day. read more

Every time I go to Glens there is never a wait. Even though it is very busy! Their food is delicious and the staff is always super friendly and the food always comes in a timely manner. The only thing I'd wish they'd change is that they only accept cash. If they took credit cards I'd be there a lot more often. read more

We tried this place on a weekday and was very unhappy. The staff is rude and unfriendly. My order came out five minutes before my wife's, when asked when her's would be coming was told they bring out orders when ready. Guess they expect you to eat yours cold while you wait to eat together! Maybe too inexperienced to cook orders and have them ready at the same time! And they weren't even busy. Also had to ask for the orange juice that came with the meal twice before the waitress with an attitude brought it to me at the end of the meal. We both got eggs but no hash brown potatoes came with the the order, another mistake on the waitress part which we didn't realize till the end of meal. I got poached eggs which were overcooked! And my wife got over easy eggs which were also overcooked!!! The cook needs to be retrained on how eggs should be cooked. Too top it all off they would only take cash, their prices are not cheap by no means ($35 for 2 for breakfast) and we did not see any 'cash only' signs in the room we sat in. Only found out when I gave my credit card to waitress and she refused it, luckily we had enough cash to pay. But needless to say we will not be returning to this below par establishment that accepts cash only so they can screw everyone else who pays their fair share of taxes. read more

WOW !!! ... I am very impressed and It's not easy to impress me! as I do eat out 15 to 20 times a week! I felt like a child again in rural america, as the town folks walked through the door the waitress greeted all by name and immediately knew what they wanted to eat. I felt so much at home I almost felt that ANDY,OPIE and Aunt BEE, would come through the door next! I felt that I was in a place unchanged by time for well over 60 years! I've been here twice now and sat at the counter both times for breakfast, I like to do that when I eat alone I like to watch to chef and check out his ingredients. I had the 1 egg scrambled with home fries and toast. eggs were incredibly fresh and tasty prepared exactly right.. I read how other reviewers spoke about a well executed breakfast with eggs being more less common place, this just isn't true I've been to so many other places in the area but it's very very hard to get good fresh tasty hot eggs served to you! what glens has going on is just so very unusual and special, and so well worth any trip! I have not experienced any of the downsides that other reviewers have spoke about, The staff is genuinely friendly , I can tell phony people 10 miles away. All the ingredients I saw used were top shelf , more expensive pepperidge farm bread, real eggs prepared by real people... I am so happy I bumped into this little slice of americana in a time straight from the pages of a norman rockwell calendar! I felt happy like the world was still a good place... I felt yonug and optimistic wow I got my eggs with a side order of the fountain of youth! parents please bring your children to this wonderful slice of the time gone by what a wonderful gift to give your children so they might realize what a great and wonderful place America was ,still is and CAN still be ! However I waited an additional 15 minutes to receive my own food, without any explanation or apology by any of the staff.
