At first we ordered half dozen oysters and they were so good, we ordered another half. Came to eat here after going to the aquarium for Father's Day. Our waitress was honestly doing her best as it looked like she was one of very few working the tables outside for such a large crowd. We made a reservation that we arrived 20 mins early for to make sure they could accommodate us with a stroller. The hostess told us it wouldn't be a problem and to give them about 5 mins to fix a table for us. We were ended up waiting the entire 20 mins till our actual reservation time. Fine. It was pretty packed. We get sat in the middle of all the commotion that it was actually difficult to set up our 5 month old in the stroller. We made it work. Fine. We sat for an ADDITIONAL 30 MINS simply waiting for water and an appetizer (spinach dip - which would have actually been pretty good if it wasn't so cold when we finally got it). This is when we started to not feel so "fine", but we tried to brush it off and continue enjoying our time. Once we finally got our appetizer and drinks, we ordered our food quickly since we didn't know when our waitress would be able to come back again. We ordered 2 clam chowders, a small Caesar salad, and one other dish I can't remember. Our clam chowders came out (super cold) in small unenthusiastic plain white bowls. Maybe this was our bad for assuming it would come in a bread bowl since the people next to us had that, but I wish they would have told us that we needed to specify this, but ok whatever. The small salad and the other order we had NEVER came out. We got tired of waiting for everything at that point that I nervously just told our waitress to cancel them. She got visibly upset and started borderline arguing with me that the only reason our food didn't come out was because we weren't going to eat everything at the same time? I'm sorry, but last time I checked we were not at a 3 course meal type of restaurant. It was a small salad for god sake. After a lot of back and forth and her telling me that she didn't understand she finally just responded with "so you don't want the food because you're full?" And I agreed just to not continue feeling uncomfortable since we were sat in the middle of everyone and people were starting to stare. Even though I said more than once that everything was just taking too long. Like I said, it was really busy. So many people out that day so I can understand how overwhelming it must have been tending so many tables alone, but that's not our fault. That's the restaurant's fault for not hiring enough staff to cover such a large crowd and expecting only a small group of workers to manage everything by themselves. It's honestly shameful. Thankfully we weren't charged for the food we didn't get and we were too embarrassed to even ask for a box for any left overs we had so we just payed, tipped, and left. I'm not one who usually complains but this was one of our worst restaurant experiences ever. Food: 2/5 Lobster, Shrimp, and Crab Linguine - 2/5 The sauce tasted fine, however the pasta was horribly overcooked. The noodles did not retain their form and instead would just break into small pieces and clump together. Also, the dish had almost no lobster or crab other than a few small flakes. This was a ripoff at $35. Seafood Trio - 2/5 The shrimp, salmon, and Crab cake were all just ok and could have benefited from additional seasoning. The salmon was also on the dry side. Furthermore, the chipotle mayo sauce that the dish came with just didn't pair well with any of the three items. Nevertheless, the worst parts of the dish were the sides. The mashed potatoes were a grainy, dense blob from an ice cream scooper that were not pleasant to eat and the vegetables (green beans and broccoli) were just steamed and lacking any flavor whatsoever. Overall, this dish felt like it was a poor example of a mass-produced banquet meal you would expect at a wedding or conference. This dish also felt like very poor value at $40. Service: 1/5 Despite the mediocre food, it was the poor service that made this meal rank as one of our worst restaurant experiences ever. Our server greeted us and came back to take our drink and food order. After that, we never saw him again for the entire meal. All of the tables around us were being attended to by other servers but we were completely ignored other than food runners dropping off our food. I honestly wondered whether our server went on break and forgot to tell us. We were there at 4:15pm with a half empty restaurant so the lack of service cannot be blamed on busyness. Our water was never refilled until right before we received the check. We asked one of the bussers to refill the children's drinks. He said he would notify our server but we never received those either. At the end of our meal, it was the hostess who cleared our table, refilled our water, and brought the children's ice creams (Dixie cups at a fancy restaurant?!) and the check. Even though I did see our server walking around, he did not check on us a single time after taking our order. Furthermore, the female photographer with the long, wavy, blonde hair leaned backwards into my wife multiple times to take pictures of the guests at the table across from us. Her hair got into my wife's face and food. The photographer never said "excuse me" or apologized for this. She seemed completely oblivious to the fact that she was leaning back against another guest to take the picture. For a restaurant with the reputation of Gladstone's, we were stunned at the poor quality of the food and service which made for a terrible Mother's Day weekend dinner experience. read more

We went to dinner on 2/21/26 with friends and were extremely disappointed with our experience. The full rack of ribs was heavily over-seasoned and unbearably salty. The lobster mac and cheese was so bad we had to send it back. This location did not meet our expectations at all, especially compared to what we've heard about the brand. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to the Long Beach location. We hope to try the Malibu restaurant in the future and have a much better experience there. read more

I love the taste of fried coconut batter on shrimp. It's an essential taste of the islands that I enjoy. For all shrimp lovers, this is the appetizer to select. HULI HULI CHICKEN SANDWICH with French Fries - I ordered this entrée because I missed ordering Huli Huli Chicken on my trip to Maui, so I was excited and curious to see an item on the menu. Gladstones or Sadstones? The only stones I'm glad about are my kidney stones because they're taking my mind off of the "meal" I just forcefed myself. You know rice, right? Pretty basic. Worst service ever. Food is okay but it took 1.5 hours for our food to be served. We came in as a family of 5. The orders of each member were served at the same time except for 1. They said they dropped the plate in the kitchen so they have to make a new one. Surprisingly, the order came out in less than 10minutes so that leaves us to question why it took them 1.5 hours to make our food when they can do it in only 10minutes. A little back story on this one... My aunt and I LOVED the Gladstones in Malibu, and I was heartbroken to learn of their closing. It was the location that my aunt and I shared our last meal together before her passing. However, I was DELIGHTED to find out about this Long Beach location!!! My husband and I got a beautiful booth right along the marinas edge. I chose the New England clam chowder bowl and the house made Caesar salad. Hubs chose the salmon tacos The NE clam chowder was impeccable. It was rich and very thick with many clams. Highly recommend, If you're a clam chowder fan. My salad was also tasty and the lettuce was crisp and fresh. Hubs salmon tacos, there 3 of them and the pieces of fish were VERY generous!!!!! It was a lot of food so he was very happy! I was expecting better even though the reviews were no good. Lesson learned. We will not be coming back here. Parking was six dollar valet, which was easy. Our waiter was not warm or friendly, and considering the prices of the food I was hoping for much better quality! I was wrong. We started out with the Thai chili calamari. It was so heavily in the Thai chili sauce. I couldn't even enjoy it. Plus there was so much breading on the calamari! When I tried to take the breading off, all I found was a tiny little circle of calamari that was rubbery and just not good. Our waiter suggested we get the Parmesan crusted halibut. We both ordered with higher hopes, but unfortunately, we were let down once again. The halibut is coated in a huge layer of breading that had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The only thing the dish had going for it was the mashed potatoes tasted great. We normally take leftovers home, but. Just left ours there. It was that bad. It was, however, a beautiful restaurant with a gorgeous view on the window. They also have really nice outside seating. The bathrooms were clean, but smelled very foul. This restaurant is in Long Beach along the Shoreline Area. It has a nice ambiance and scenery as you can eat indoors or outdoors. We came here as my sister is in town for a conference and is staying nearby. The was good, not great with none of the items we ordered standing out. We got the lobster tail, cheeseburger, fish & chips, and roast chicken. Also got 2 appetizers which were deviled eggs and jerk chicken wings. First time here at his location. Came on Thanksgiving. It wasn't too crowded. The waiter was super nice . I went in for the California rolls, they have real crab, but they didn't have it on the menu for Thanksgiving . But I would definitely be back . The fish and chips were fresh and had a great taste. I wanted rice pilaf I don't like mashed potatoes on my fish. They didn't make rice pilaf for Thanksgiving day. I'll have to go back and try that as well. . Went here on July 4th, 2023 before watching the fireworks. While they do have outdoor seating that is in a prime location for fireworks, that and the clam chowder are the only good things about this restaurant. The food quality is sub-par, the prices are too high and the service (at least mine) was not good. The waitress took forever to check on me and never nice cleared our table in between meals. The plates just kept piling up. It's like she was just putting in the bare minimum since it was July 4th. Anyway, there are better restaurants around here worth going to. While we were staying at the boat and bed, steps from the patio and we decided to get fish and chips to go. I called in to the hostess who was bubbly pleasant and took my order for a fish and chips and a house salad with bleu cheese dressing. She gave me the pricing and said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Of course it only took me 5 minutes to walk over, so I had a chance to catch the first inning of the Dodgers/Blue Jays game at the bar. I ordered a blonde draught while I waited for the to-go order. Although they weren't very busy on this early Friday night, I was amazed by how attentive the staff was. The bartender checked on my order, the hostess checked and the server delivered it on time or earlier. With a fresh baked loaf of bread. I paid my tab(s) and took the fish back to the boat. It was still hot. Crispy, light, slightly oily in a flavorful way. The fish (3 piece) was perfectly cooked and went really fast. It came with what I call steak fries that were good. The house salad was fresh and had a combination of greens and texture packed vegetables that elevated the salad. Overall a really good experience. If you're thinking about eating at the scuba cafe in the aquarium or here, do yourself a favor and eat inside the scuba cafe. This place needs new management and to hire about 30 more employees. If they more servers maybe the wait wouldn't be so long because they would be able to sit empty tables. It also took about 40 minutes for our food to come out. Didn't even feel like eating at the point. It looked like our server was doing the best he could. This place should either close down or everyone needs to be retrained. When the food finally got here it was mid not worth the wait at all. They would also clean the tables half way and walk away. Gladstone's is a waterfront restaurant in a nice location. Even if you sit inside, there are windows everywhere so you will still have a nice view of the water while dining. They accept reservations. Our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful as it was our first time eating here. The bread and butter they brought out was great. I ordered the lobster tail and the Jamaican jerk salmon. Both were cooked perfectly, especially the salmon. The only reason I rate the salmon 4/5 is because it didn't come with an actual jerk sauce- it was a dry spice rub. Delicious nonetheless, but I ended up asking for a side of jerk sauce that they had for the wings- which then took the dish to the next level. There is bar seating inside. We kind of stumbled upon this location passing through long beach. Dare I say I liked this location MUCH better than the original PCH location? Service with Juan was PHENOMENAL. He was prompt, friendly and attentive. Hostesses were also exceptionally friendly and prompt with our reservations. The interior was actually really really cool, and the outdoor seating was comfortable even on a windy chilly day. The calamari was great, as was lobster, clam chowder and the margarita. Like, the margarita was really exceptionally great somehow. I did notice they have a really fully stocked bar, with more flavors of bacardi and grey goose than I even knew existed, as well as a handful of specialty liquors like Midori, which is really cool! So I brought my wife here for her bday which was announced to the front desk and our server, Blake. We had a nice booth which almost felt like a private booth due to the setting and a nice view out the window which showed the water and the boats. Blake was attentive and accommodating for the entire meal. We had the sour bread - not a fave of mine. My wife had some champagne to celebrate her bday. I had a cucumber lemonade - which was very tasty. For starters, she had the clam chowder- wasn't as award winning as mentioned. Very average to say the least. I had the Thai calamari - this dish was AMAZING!!! I usually always get calamari, when available, as an appetizer but this time - definitely the BEST I ever had. We both ordered the Lobster, Shrimp and crab linguine. It was loaded with shrimp and such but the lobster sauce was very bland. My wife and I are pretty healthy and don't eat out often - so for it to be bland for us means it's bland. Lol We added some pepper and salt to help with the taste but we took most of it home for take away. For desert we ordered the works which consisted of a HUGE shareable plate of 3 scoops of ice cream and a HUMONGOUS slice of chocolate cake. This tasted so good. My biggest disappointment was after telling the front desk and the server - no one came out to sing happy birthday to my wife. As we sat there and seen a few parties receiving such. It was disheartening especially when my wife said something. No worries I will definitely sing her happy bday later. But that was a let down. First time Gladstones ever disappointed. The calamari appetizer should be renamed chips with calamari topping. The calamari were the smallest rings I've ever had and were so dry it was best described as fried pork rind bits. The beer on tap was flat and rancid but they made good on that by replacing it. The poor server handled most of the patrons sitting in the outside patio so the server forgot a lot of items requested. Gladstones is tradition. Quality and service was always top notch and we had rolled with the punches, over the years with changes in the menu, changes in price and changes in quantity because we knew we would get great service, quality food and drinks.
