I purchased my dad a gift card for father's day and we just used it this weekend while I was visiting NJ. I have a food blogger friend who did a segment on Gladstone Tavern so I had it on my radar for a while. After visiting an alpaca farm in the area we stopped in for lunch on Saturday around 12. I did make a reservation the day before because I wasn't sure how busy they would be but the reservation was not necessary. We were promptly greeted and sat at an inside table. A nice gentleman brought us waters and then Hunter took care of us. He provided great service. I started with the corn chowder soup. While it was good, it was kind of basic and I had higher expectations for it. I then had the chicken schnitzel which came with a caper sauce, arugula and tomatoes. It was soooo good! If I ordered it again I would ask for some extra of the caper sauce. My mom had a burger that came with fresh cut fries and my dad has the steak and eggs. All of us really enjoyed our meals and the overall experience. We would recommend.

It's been more than a few years since we've been to Gladstone Tavern because we've moved a dozen miles or so north to Morristown, but a recent dinner at Gladstone Tavern reminded me that it's still well worth the trip over the twisty-windy backroads. Located in a restored 1847 colonial farmhouse, it offers a perfect balance with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere and top notch service and food. I really appreciate how they strive to incorporate locally-sourced ingredients in the menu whenever possible; you can definitely taste the freshness. I also have to mention that their seasonal cocktail menu is definitely worth checking out. Since it's in season, we started with the freshly flash-fried asparagus tempura ($15) appetizer. It was very tasty and well-presented, with a portion size was perfect for sharing. For my entrée, I ordered the tempura shrimp bowl ($27), a southwestern-inspired dish with four perfectly fried tempura shrimp over a bed of frisee and farro, topped with charred corn and avocado. It was incredibly tasty and way more filling than I expected. My dining companion selected the jambalaya ($28), a cajun-inspired treat packed with shrimp, andouille sausage, and chicken. She absolutely loved it and brought half of it home to enjoy for lunch the next day. A special shout-out to our server, Chris. Even though he's only been there a few days, he was fantastic and made us feel like guests for a meal in his home -- attentive, friendly, and totally on top of everything. Gladstone Tavern is a must-visit whether you're a local or making a drive from outside the Peapack-Gladstone metropolis. PRO TIP: Gladstone Tavern features live music on Friday nights (8pm til 11pm) and Sunday (1130am til 230pm).

First time here in a looong time. The ambiance is great- fireplace was on. We ordered a couple of drinks. Beer & Manhattan. Both were delicious. We shared a special pear w/blue cheese salad to start. They brought out the salad on two plates. The salad was fresh and excellent. I ordered the shrimp tempura bowl which excellent but could have used a few more shrimp but was fresh and tasty. My wife have the Branzino which was also excellent. For desert, we shared a banana crunch which was large so we were glad we shared. Service was excellent! Ambiance was excellent Food was excellent Drinks were excellent We will definitely be back.

I came here after attending a off road event at Hamilton Farm, the US Equestrian Team Headquarters in Gladstone, We were looking for a quick simple meal. The Gladstone tavern is a cozy restaurant, we had great service and the food was very good. It's spacious, has ample parking, nice outdoor seating with heaters on the porch. All of the dishes we ordered were excellent. We had the tavern burger and the grilled chicken sandwich. For desert we had the chocolate chunk cookie which is a Jacque Torres recipe. It's warm and very tasty. Our waiter recommended the ice cream toasted coconut, pretzel-chip, it was awesome. They offer a wide variety of salads, entrees, desert, wines, beer liquors. They appear to do a lot of catering and have live music at certain times. This was not a planned visit and I would definitely go back. Everyone wax courteous, the restaurant is very clean, and it looks like it would be a nice place to relax when there is live music. I would definitely recommend them.

Nice casual spot. Started with the short rib Johnny Cakes which we shared. They were delicious! I had the Korean hanger steak for an entree and my husband the brisket, both were very good.

This was in an old-fashioned farmhouse with a rustic setting. There was a small bar upon entering and a section in the back for private events it looked like. The menu offered seasonal American comfort food with a few twists sprinkled in. The service was solid, and the food came out in a timely manner. I went with the tavern burger ($22). It was local pasture raised beef that was grounded in house daily with cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles on a toasted brioche bun with fries. I opted for the burger to be cooked medium rare and it was more on the medium side. Overall, this was okay. The patty was of good size but lacked much seasoning. It helped that the other toppings were present. The fries were very tasty as they were seasoned appropriately and fried to perfection. I also tried the bear sandwich which had braised short rib, cherry pepper, mushroom, onion, and provolone on a garlic toasted roll. This was very tasty. The cherry pepper really made the entire dish I thought. Another item I tried was the chilaquiles. There was something that threw me off here and I believe it was the salsa verde. The people who had this at my table did enjoy it though. Will I go back? Probably.

Cute porch dining. Gracious host & server. Food spot on with perfect drink of hard cider!

Interesting setting. Looks like a house converted into a restaurant. We sat in the back room on the left just to the right of the fireplace with a window looking into the backyard. Our server was very funny, and I'll say he was about 15% over the top in terms of trying to yuck it up with us. Am sure a lot of people wouldn't have appreciated the constant jokes. My choice was the wedge salad. It was good however, I wish there had been more blue cheese, and it had hardly any red onions so he brought me more which was very nice. The bacon was way overcooked and I like crispy, well-done bacon, however this was well beyond that. It also needed a little more tomato to compensate for the serious dryness of the bacon. It's a decent choice in a small town that doesn't have many options.

Five stars for the Gladstone Tavern! It's a perfect spot for lunch with friends, dinner with family, or drinks at the bar. It's in a renovated 19th century farmhouse with lots of different rooms. It offers cozy seating spaces, a front and back patio, beautiful wood and stone details, and warm lighting. The food is top notch and the menu is seasonally inspired. I love that ingredients are sourced from individual farms and that herbs are grown in the restaurant's garden. This restaurant is accommodating to diners with specific food preferences and allergies. They made my friend's meal the way she asked for it to be specially prepared due to her food allergies. I've been here a few times and look forward to returning. Staff has been consistently attentive and helpful. I appreciated our server today, Mark, especially. He has an upbeat and friendly way about him and made our lunch extra enjoyable. You can park for free in one of the two parking lots. Dogs are allowed on the front porch dining section.

On our way home from south Jersey, we were looking for a nice place to stop for dinner. I had Gladstone Tavern bookmarked for quite a while, so it was a good opportunity to stop here. Since it was a hectic day, the first thing I liked is that this restaurant is located in a quiet location with plenty of parking. We made a reservation for outside seating which was perfect on this June evening. The food was very good. My wife especially enjoyed her Chicken Schnitzel entree. I went with the baked pasta special which had broccoli rabe and sausage, my in-laws each had burgers. It took a little while for the food to be served, but that wasn't a problem since it was so nice out. All in all, this was a good find and a perfect spot for us to enjoy dinner!

Every layer of the sub was thoroughly planned out with a good amount of each topping. There was a great ratio of the filling to the bread. The bread was the key though. Most of the condiments were on the side, and I did not even need to add any because of how good and flavorful the sub was by itself. Will I go back? I did not actually attend, but would head there.

I'm about to…read morewax poetic.*** Let me preface by saying that I'm a young adult who considers himself a bit of a foodie. I work in Times Square so I usually frequent fine dining establishments in the city, but my home is North Jersey so I am acutely aware that there are some hidden gems in this state. Last week, I was at the Saddle River Inn in Saddle River and was blown away. But this place is far, far, even more exceptional. Greatest dining experience ever. Called the restaurant due to a last-minute cancelation in my party. Evan, a manager, was super helpful in waiving any cancelation fees. It's BYOB and there's a brewery across the street that apparently does takeout. I just brought beer from my house. They gave me chilled glasses and a bucket of ice to keep my refreshments chilled. Onto the ambience. You walk in and it's a nice, cozy little place with tables and a bar top with an open kitchen layout behind it. You can see all the food that's cooking and the presentations that go behind each dish - all live in front of you. The chef's were busy but always obliged when I said hey or asked a question. I tried the 5 course chef's tasting menu for $125. You get a little bit of all of the best flavors coming out of the kitchen. And the flavors are always changing. They source their ingredients from local farms. First came out complimentary course #1 - all I remember is it had crudo in it. Then course #1 - gulf shrimp with squid. This is the point where I decide no matter how else dinner plays out, I'm coming back. What fresh ingredients and creative flavor pairings. Next was course #2 - duck confit spring roll. It's just a smaller portion of what's regularly on their menu. This may have been my favorite item of the night. Next was wood fired octopus in tagliatelle pasta. After that, I believe, was complimentary course #2 - what appeared to be a caesar salad. Anything they make is delicious. Finally, I had an American wagyu strip as the fourth course. Absolutely delectable. At this point, I'm in Heaven. But I'm not quite yet full and ready for my dessert - profiteroles - one of my favorite desserts. I was looking forward to it from the moment I walked in and saw it listed on the tasting menu. I only eat 1 meal a day so when I finally eat, I eat a lot. A normal person would be full at this point, but I wanted more. I also couldn't help but think it might have something to do with me not wanting to leave and just try anything this kitchen made. So I ordered more. I asked for their regular menu and ordered some more duck confit spring rolls and some type of pork belly entree. Quick note - the pork belly entree was not good. You have to take the losses on the chin to make the wins matter more. Pork belly over beans? It was like bbq ribs meets an English breakfast. Please get rid of that, respectfully. After 3 bites, I didn't want any more so I quietly flagged down my server, Kat, and told her please quietly take this, I fully intend to pay for it since I ordered it; it's just no good. And I had been raving to her about every dish up until that point. So she insisted that she'd take it off the check. I insisted I'd pay, she kept insisting, so I relented. That's really good customer service. Now time for dessert. I wish I could say I was ending on a better note but the Profiteroles - which I mentioned is a favorite dessert of mine - massive disappointment. After everything else was put together for care, I got notes of freezer for this last one - especially the pumpkin part. I love this restaurant and I intend on returning as soon as possible, so please don't take offense to my constructive criticism. I applaud your efforts to infuse different flavors together. It is working wonders for you. Keep it up. I'm gonna share pictures of everything, including the menu. But the last 2 things I'll talk about are the cost and the service. With the pork belly entree taken off, it was just the 5 course tasting menu, an order of duck confit spring rolls, and a $6 double espresso. The total came out to $168 after taxes. I tipped $168. That's right. 100%. In a world where people like to dock tip percentages from their precious "20%" for what they perceive to be a lack of good service, let's normalize going above 25% for exceptional service. Not everyone can afford 100% like me, but next tip tip your servers 30-35% for exceptional service. As a former server in my heyday, I promise it'll mean more to them than the few extra dollars to you. And exceptional service is what I got. From manager Evan, to server Kat, to all of the others I met - forgive me if I forget any names. Chef Kelly, Chef Mike, Chef Jon, Keira, Jimmy. Thank you for an unforgettable 5-star experience. Keep up the exceptional work. I will see you again soon.
