Stopped here after a visit to the Field Museum to try the talked-about Chicago deep dish. Service here was great, and the pizza was delicious. I overestimated the 10-inch size and should have stuck with a personal pie since it was just me. The personal would've been just fine since the 10-inch can feed up to 3 people. The wait was about 30-45 mins to get the pizza, but it was well worth it. Very delicious, especially with the Calabrian chili honey sauce that was served on the side. As a New Yorker who swears only by New York-style pizza, I recommend trying the deep dish at Giordano's! The service was also 10/10, and the ambiance was pretty calm and quiet, as it was the middle of the day on a Tuesday and not busy at all. Come hungry and ready to eat!

Mmmmm.....pizza. Me love pizza of all types. A group of us from our running club gathered here to devour some deep dish pizza after running the Chicago marathon. What better way to refuel after 26.2 grueling miles than with a cheesy deep dish filled pizza? Sure, it was tasty and filling, but I'm still not really about eating pizza with a knife and fork, as this is more of a pizza-souffle to me. I wanted to take a nap after eating a few large pie slices. I did my best to eat as much as I could stuff my face with. I ain't no quitter! Service did as well as possible considering how crowded it was, and they took care of us best they could. A few cold beers bided our time until our pizzas arrived. As this Chicago pizza chain goes it does the job representing deep dish style.

This place is a short walk from the Field Museum. We came for lunch, and upon entering we were immediately seated. Nice artwork on the walls, it was warm in comparison to the temperature outside. We had Calamari, cheese wedges, a deep dish, a tavern style and the lasagna. All the food was good, but the Calamari was exceptional. I've never had it with banana peppers and lemon rings, but I absolutely loved it. My hubby loved his deep dish, but the bell pepper was under the cheese so I couldn't pick it off. It was a no go for me. I tried my daughter's lasagna and regretted ordering pizza at that moment. It was amazing. I've never had tavern style before, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. The flavor was good and the ingredients seemed very fresh. I would definitely come back for the lasagna and the Calamari.

This was our departing meal heading back home to MIA. Service was very friendly & attentive. Even though there was enough personnel on hand there were tables that were not turned over for a long period of time. Our personal pizza came out fresh but my husband's sandwich was delivered first so he had to start while we waited. He enjoyed the Italian. Overall this is a solid establishment to grab a decent deep dish.

This is a cute spot to go w friends or your partner for some yummy pizza and good vibes. There are TVs w sports playing and a nice size bar. The pizza was made freshly to order so you do have to wait a little bit, but that gooey cheese pull is worth it! (;

Was recommended this spot. Everybody was eating the famous deep dish. Was really really cheesy. Was really good and the salad as well. Fun place to eat.

What's Chicago without deep dish pizza? Giordano's made a solid effort on a busy Friday night. Seated right away, server took our order, all good. Salads were good, so was pizza. The place was a bit noisy but it was busy for sure. Good job.

Came here on a Saturday and it was busy, as expected. It was a 15-20 minute wait, which wasn't too bad. Got seated and ordered one tavern style, one deep dish, and one Italian beef sandwich. The deep dish and sandwich were off of the lunch menu. The pizzas came out first, they're probably pumping those out constantly. But the non-pizza items took so long to get out of the kitchen and it was just fries, salad, and the sandwich. Everything was really delicious tho. The cheese on the sandwich was an extra $1. Loved the crust on the deep dish, but it's too tomatoey for me. The tavern style was just a regular thin crust pizza to me. The sandwich was great. The cesar salad was fresh with great flavor and the parmesan garlic fries were great as well.

Beware of the waiter Steven, who very rudely took our order (he ignored me twice, putting his elbows on our table and fiddling with the order pad, and then asked me to repeat my order each time while ignoring me). He finally said that the Internet wasn't working and had me repeat our order a third time before disappearing - never coming to check on us or give us water. We couldn't even flag him down because he went off to the kitchen and wouldn't even look our way the entire hour we were there. He came by at some point to drop off our starter but didn't even make eye contact or say anything to us like it was a drive-by, so we didn't even have a chance to ask for water or napkins or anything we needed. One of the other servers ended up helping us out the rest of the night, and Steven didn't come back to us at all the whole night until it was time to collect the check and tip. He suddenly was trying to be super nice telling us he "appreciated our patience" and stood over us to watch as we paid to try to pressure us into tipping for service that we didn't even receive. Our food was good otherwise though! Got the Chicago Classic deep dish and the sampler which were both delicious. I'd probably just order takeout next time.

Had try Chicago's famous deep dish pizza. Found this place near the hotel we stayed so walked over for a bite. Ordered the vegetarian small to share as the slices were literally three inches thick and both of us were on a carb restricted diet. Surprisingly not as much dough as we were expecting (plus). Fair amount of stuffed veggies and cheese on top. Honestly wish they added much more cheese to the pizza which would have hit it out of the park for me. Personally, I'm more of a New York pizza fan.

"I've been a Giordano's fan for over 30 years, enjoying their pizza at many locations, but the South Loop location is by far the worst. I ordered a tavern-style pizza, and it had almost no cheese--absolutely disappointing. I also had a bad experience with the GM, who did nothing when I reached out. I ordered through DoorDash, and even then, no resolution. I will never be back to this location

The kids loved the lightly-fried calamari, the generously-topped thin-crust "super veggie", and the classic deep dish!

Great Chicago deep-dish! We got takeout for a little party, and everyone had so much, we followed with a delivery! Their calamari appetizer was light, tender, and crispy, with a little lemon and bite-y (but avoidable) banana peppers. Tasty marinara to dip in. The grilled Chicken Caprese Melt sandwich had tasty basil pesto, with a reasonable amount of lots of mozzarella, lightly-marinated tomatoes, fresh greens, and a splash of lemony vinaigrette, all on toasted ciabatta. The real star was the pizza! Our takeout thin crust was the "super veggie", with black olives over the mozzarella, hiding a generous layer of mushrooms, green peppers, onions, broccoli, and spinach. Even the kids liked it! We loved the (mid-September '24) 50-yr-celebration special Calabrian Sweet and Spicy Chicken-Sausage deep dish, designed by a Michelin-starred guest-chef. Tender well-seasoned sausage with a generous cover of a medium-spiced giardiniera, drizzled lightly with not-too-hot chili honey. And it benefited The Lurie Children's Hospital! We added delivery of a classic deep-dish pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers & onion, always a favorite. Giordano's has never disappointed us, and this was a delicious feast!

First timers in Chicago so my husband and I had to stop into a Giordano's to try a deep dish pizza while in town. We came in on a weeknight for dinner and they were busy. Service was friendly but a little slow, understandable as they were catering to the influx of diners during the dinner rush. The food was great and the pizza lived up to the hype for us, especially for my husband. Our order consisted of: - Giordano's Sampler (for an appetizer) - a small deep dish Chicago Classic - a personal size deep dish with pepperoni and pineapple Everything from the appetizer to both pizzas was delicious. We especially enjoyed the bruschetta and mozzarella triangles from the appetizer. Both pizzas were also cooked to perfection. Everything tasted fresh and of good quality. We had no complaints and we were thrilled to have leftovers to bring back to the hotel with us. We tried a few other deep dish pizza spots during our stay and Giordano's was, by far, our favorite. We will definitely be back again the next time we're in town again.

A Taiwanese bakery. How could a place that loves Michael Jackson be bad?…read more Salted Egg Yolk Bolo Bun流心菠蘿麵包: Calling it "流心"(runny) isn't quite accurate; it's a bolo bun菠蘿包 (pineapple -shape bun) with a salted egg yolk filling, but it had an authentic, old-fashioned flavor that made me feel like back to childhood. The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.

This bakery reminds me of other Asian chains like Paris Baguette or 85°. When you walk inside, you can see the different pastries on display, from sweet to savory. You can pick and choose and pay up front. They also have a menu board with a variety of drinks--caffeinated and non-caffeinated. The service was fine, with limited interaction. They also have seating inside, but it's a bit limited. I got an Iced Mango Pandan Matcha Latte with Soy Milk. The matcha quality was fine. It was sweet, and there was a good amount of mango. I didn't taste any pandan, though. Overall, it was a good drink. I recommend coming here for matcha if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Sweet Bean is a good spot in the Loop for matcha or Asian pastries. It's on the corner of Wabash Ave.

#chicago #flyforfood #yelpfriends…read more My last day in Chicago. My last meal in Chicago. My travel partners and I chose Eleven city diner for our breakfast/brunch/lunch before my leaving for the airport. I wanted some deli food which with all of my meals I did not have. No pastrami, no corn beef no nothing up until this meal. I ordered an open face, pastrami sandwich, and boy. What a meal it was. Homemade pastrami plated on rye bread and a bed of cheese and their special sauce. My travel partners had meals of their own, but what was cute and retro of this establishment was their soda jerk machines, their old-fashioned counters with swivel chairs, there, old-fashioned, neon lights and their booths in dark colored vinyl. How retro can that be? Service was spot on as soon as you were seated, outcomes the water, the menu, and a smiley face asking for your order. A special touch for me was they held my luggage in the back area so it's not to clutter the dining area while we had our meal. I will definitely go back here for a meal next time I'm visiting the great Windy City

The staff was all friendly and kind. I'm not too familiar with Jewish delicatessen food, but I do like salmon, so I got the Lox and Latke with Sour Cream. The lox and all additions were good. The latke was big, thick, and hearty. Everything paired well and was a nice portion. It was very filling, but I wish the latke had a bit more crispness and flavor. My friends got their breakfast and lunch items and seemed to enjoy them. It's great that they offer breakfast and lunch--a mix of classic and specialty items. I'd come again and order more things to try! If you're staying in Chicago and want a memorable breakfast meal, give Eleven City Diner a try! The food is good, and the service is great.
