    Fish katsu

o4.11.2o26 We came across this plaza with bunch of yummy food around and we decided to visit Ginkgo. Business was very slow and nobody was sitting in when we arrived. At first, my husband said maybe it's not that good. I didn't check Yelp, but Google had good review (bc I was using the map). However, we decided to take a chance because I picked the place. Later, we did see some people picking up their orders. We were glad we did because the pork with cheese katsu was so good! You know it's good quality cheese when it can be stretched as long as your arm. We also got the fish katsu, but it wasn't what I had expected. It was kind of fishy which it's understandable, bc it is a fish. But it was also very thin. I expected to be thicker and super crispy and juicy. The Thai tea was decent. I would return for the pork with cheese katsu!

Food I was in the area because of work and was looking around for places to eat for lunch and stumbled by this unassuming Katsu place for lunch so I decided to stop by. I ordered the chicken katsu and it came with a salad as well. The Katsu itself is actually pretty good. It was breaded just right to give that signature crunch of japanese Katsu with the the right thickness of the meat. It slightly leaned on the dry side but not too much that it ruined the experience and I still really enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. The salad itself was pretty good and standard. Service/Ambiance On a weekday lunch, it wasn't too packed and was able to eat my order in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but really nice and clean. The service was relatively quick and the staff are pretty nice. Overall, would definitely recommend and would come back if given the chance

Really good katsu! The regular pork is my go-to, but I also recommend the fish. Depending on your appetite, the amount can be enough for two to share. But if not, it's a good meal. The drinks that I've tried are good, too. The udon has good broth, but it's just udon with a few pieces of fishcake - a little underwhelming for me, so I'll stick to the katsu. It's on the pricier side, but the quality is good. There's some seating, but not for large groups. A lot of people seem to get it to-go, which we've done, too. When we want katsu, this is our place. :)

I ordered the Pork Katsu Bento Box ($18.99). I like its katsu, California rolls, and takoyaki. I dislike its rubbery egg & gloopy, mushy rice. This business is affordable, but it's also dirty like an unmaintained McDonalds. (Important Note: This business uses a sign that says "Give a good review and get a free brewed tea." Be wary of their high reviews. I will attach a photo of their gimmick.) I arrived at Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) on Saturday (around 11:09AM). The location felt sticky! My shoes kept squeaking as the floor gripped onto me. Customers are expected to order on the self-service kiosk. The screen was smudgy with oily fingerprints despite just opening. Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) is connected to a large, busy parking lot. Parking was annoying but simple. Surprisingly, there's EV Charging spots for vehicles. Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) has friendly, welcoming Staff. Staff does not interact much with customers, but Staff is always working behind the kitchen. The food took 11 minutes and 29 seconds to complete. Good pace! I ordered the Pork Katsu Bento Box ($18.99). It's affordable and big. I really enjoyed its takoyaki. The octopus tasted clean, and its fried batter tasted fluffy and fresh. I also enjoyed the California rolls. Its avocado tasted fresh, and its filling was prepared thoughtfully. The Pork Katsu also had a delicious breading. I adored its flakiness and thin crunch. The pork is thick, but it's also a little spongey & dry. Fortunately, dipping the Pork Katsu into the sauce saves the flavor. Unfortunately, the steamed rice was disgusting. I had to spit it out into a napkin. The rice tasted like wet clay. It's extremely gloopy and mushy. The accompanying egg was also tofu-like. It tasted like a tasteless, microwaved gelatin egg. Concerning ambiance, Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) felt dirty. The tables all had old crumbs and flakes inside the crevices. Tiny bits of trash were unswept under the tables. The location had ventilation, but the air felt dusty. The place felt old and unmaintained. However, I did enjoy the upbeat Korean music. I also liked how the tables were somewhat wiped despite its stickiness. Unfortunately, Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) only offers hand sanitizer for hands because there's no available restroom. Overall, Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) is a decent, budget spot. The food is affordable and big, but it's hit-or-miss. If curious, go with very low expectations. 3.4 out of 5

It was on a rainy day where I was a bit lazy to cook, so I stopped by Ginkgo Katsu! This was located in a busy plaza with other restaurants. For ordering, they have a kiosk inside. However, it wasn't busy when I went (probably due to the rain), so there was a staff that took my order at the counter. American Express is accepted as a payment option. It wasn't long for the order to be ready and it was neatly organized. My order was the pork katsu bento. The bento was well balanced with a variety of items such as katsu, egg, cabbage salad, pickled veggies, seaweed salad, California roll, takoyaki. The cabbage sauce was put in a sauce container. This bento had a generous portion of items, especially with the katsu and cabbage salad. This was something you could share between two people. With the variety of items, I never felt particularly tired of any flavors! I didn't eat the bento right away, but the Katsu remained crispy. In comparison, the egg did get a bit soggy, so highly encourage folks to eat that when it's as fresh as possible. I had some serious Japan withdrawal, but this bento helped me reminisce a bit! Couldn't recommend this place more.

Tucked in the corner of a korean supermarket plaza off 60 freeway. This small cozy restaurant offers online and in-store order. The in-store kiosk touch screen point of sales is similar to many boba tea shops. It's very simple to navigate and use. Within seconds, I ordered my meal. The interior is simple with a few tables. There wasnt any outdoor seating. The background music is light with low-medium volume. The food was freshly prepared. The bento box was slightly more expensive than other places but totally worth it. It comes with takoyaki, small side dishes, katsu, rice, and salad. It was pretty delicious. I just had to say that the rice was almost too soggy. The portion was very satisfying, kept me full for hours. Their tea was freshly made, didnt taste like straight out of tea bag. However, I didnt get to see how it was made. Overall, it was enjoyable. Definitely will visit again. 4.6 out of 5.

The prices have steadily increased over the years. However it is still one of the best classic Katsu places. They are also the only place that has a Bento with so much variety for the cost. Unfortunately it is not the great value that it was in the past. Still this is a best in class restaurant within the area and can't be missed.

Happy to visit this place again! Just started work around here so I can stop by more. Wanted to try the Kimchi Fried Rice and the Shrimp Tempura Roll this time. Love how you can order yourself and how you get your food quickly. The Bento box is so great, as I love variety and it has all of that. The kimchi rice is HUGE, and so is the crunch roll! Can't wait to stop by again soon! Until next time !

Went to Ginkgo Katsu and got the cheese pork katsu -- honestly pretty solid. Crispy, cheesy, good portion, no complaints on the food. Only thing that threw me off was the service. I was planning to dine in so I added a tip, but when my food was ready they handed it to me in a to-go plastic bag. Kinda confusing lol. I also asked for water and they just pointed to where it was instead of helping. Just made me feel like... what was the tip for? Still giving 4 stars though because the food was good. Not trying to knock a business over service like that, but hopefully they tighten that up a bit. I'd come back and give it another try for sure.

Stopped by to order takeout for my dad The staff were sweet, enthusiastic, and helpful! They took my order immediately and even delivered it to my table They have a new combo where if you buy a katsu plate or box, you receive a complimentary tea The presentation was beautiful! Even the takeout container the katsu plate came in was aesthetic! I didn't get to try it as I bought it for my dad, but the katsu looked so perfectly crispy! The portions are generous too, as there's plenty of cutlet pieces, rice, and salad :)

I came here on a week night and it was pretty empty. I ordered the pork katsu with rice and it was good. The portion seems large, but the katsu are kind of thin. The restaurant is clean and the staff was nice and helpful. It's located in a big plaza, so parking was easy. I would go back to try other things on the menu.

almost paper thin and cost around $20
    Jesse W.

Used to love this place, but not anymore. The fish katsu was already $18, and now it's almost $20 for one PAPER-THIN piece of fish (check out the photo if you don't believe me). It used to come with two big, thick pieces that were actually filling. Now it's DRY, BLAND, and I'm still hungry after finishing it. When I called, they claimed they only give two pieces if the fish piece is small -- not true based on my past orders. This is straight-up price gouging. Charging more while cutting portions and quality is a rip-off. Won't be ordering again.

Gingko Katsu is a katsu and tea restaurant located on Brea Canyon Rd in Diamond Bar next to Yupdduk. They have appetizers, chicken katsu, pork katsu, fish katsu, sushi rolls, rice dishes, noodle dishes, tea drinks, and some desserts. I ordered a Chicken Katsu Bento Box. This was fantastic. Huge portion size for a bento box. Chicken katsu was perfectly fried and breaded to perfection. Chicken was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Rice was soft and paired well with the chicken katsu. I enjoyed the Japanese pickled radish which were a nice crunchy complement to the chicken katsu. Curry sauce was sweet and tangy. The California rolls were great. Service was great. I ordered over the phone was told it would take about 15 minutes. I arrived a little after 15 minutes and the order was there. I was greeted upon entry. Cashier was friendly. They asked if I was here to pickup to which I said yes. The restaurant is fairly small with a few tables. Parking was packed when I went. Across from the restaurant are some EV charging stations. I enjoyed the Chicken Katsu Bento Box. Will be back for another visit!

They took our order: banana caramel latte, a yuzu tonic, and a warmed up plain croffle. We took a seat to wait for our items, which didn't take too long. Their banana caramel latte was okay; I probably wouldn't get it again. There was a lot of milk in mind and a fading coffee taste. The drink tasted similar to artificial banana and I didn't like that. The yuzu tonic was heavy in yuzu and not much coffee. The highlight would definitely be the delicious croffle! It was warmed up, flaky, and quite chewy. We regret not ordering two! The Outpost Coffee had fantastic service, ambiance, and croffles. Sadly, we didn't like their drinks, but wouldn't mind coming back to try something else! I loved the industrial-style atmosphere, and it always felt like a cool spot to sit down, relax, and enjoy a freshly made specialty coffee. That's why I was honestly shocked by what I saw during my last visit. I came in one morning with a friend, and I watched the employee take pre-mixed coffee that had already been prepared and simply pour it into a cup with milk. There was no fresh grinding, no espresso being pulled, and no coffee being made to order in front of us. I paid nearly $7 for the drink, expecting a freshly prepared specialty coffee. Instead, the preparation looked more like a pre-made/instant coffee process. For a coffee shop charging specialty-coffee prices, this was extremely disappointing and felt very misleading. The atmosphere is nice, but for me, the quality and preparation of the coffee matter much more. After seeing this, I definitely won't be coming back.
