    Fish katsu
    Emily L.

o4.11.2o26 We came across this plaza with bunch of yummy food around and we decided to visit Ginkgo. Business was very slow and nobody was sitting in when we arrived. At first, my husband said maybe it's not that good. I didn't check Yelp, but Google had good review (bc I was using the map). However, we decided to take a chance because I picked the place. Later, we did see some people picking up their orders. We were glad we did because the pork with cheese katsu was so good! You know it's good quality cheese when it can be stretched as long as your arm. We also got the fish katsu, but it wasn't what I had expected. It was kind of fishy which it's understandable, bc it is a fish. But it was also very thin. I expected to be thicker and super crispy and juicy. The Thai tea was decent. I would return for the pork with cheese katsu!

Food I was in the area because of work and was looking around for places to eat for lunch and stumbled by this unassuming Katsu place for lunch so I decided to stop by. I ordered the chicken katsu and it came with a salad as well. The Katsu itself is actually pretty good. It was breaded just right to give that signature crunch of japanese Katsu with the the right thickness of the meat. It slightly leaned on the dry side but not too much that it ruined the experience and I still really enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. The salad itself was pretty good and standard. Service/Ambiance On a weekday lunch, it wasn't too packed and was able to eat my order in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but really nice and clean. The service was relatively quick and the staff are pretty nice. Overall, would definitely recommend and would come back if given the chance

Really good katsu! The regular pork is my go-to, but I also recommend the fish. Depending on your appetite, the amount can be enough for two to share. But if not, it's a good meal. The drinks that I've tried are good, too. The udon has good broth, but it's just udon with a few pieces of fishcake - a little underwhelming for me, so I'll stick to the katsu. It's on the pricier side, but the quality is good. There's some seating, but not for large groups. A lot of people seem to get it to-go, which we've done, too. When we want katsu, this is our place. :)

I ordered the Pork Katsu Bento Box ($18.99). I like its katsu, California rolls, and takoyaki. I dislike its rubbery egg & gloopy, mushy rice. This business is affordable, but it's also dirty like an unmaintained McDonalds. (Important Note: This business uses a sign that says "Give a good review and get a free brewed tea." Be wary of their high reviews. I will attach a photo of their gimmick.) I arrived at Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) on Saturday (around 11:09AM). The location felt sticky! My shoes kept squeaking as the floor gripped onto me. Customers are expected to order on the self-service kiosk. The screen was smudgy with oily fingerprints despite just opening. Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) is connected to a large, busy parking lot. Parking was annoying but simple. Surprisingly, there's EV Charging spots for vehicles. Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) has friendly, welcoming Staff. Staff does not interact much with customers, but Staff is always working behind the kitchen. The food took 11 minutes and 29 seconds to complete. Good pace! I ordered the Pork Katsu Bento Box ($18.99). It's affordable and big. I really enjoyed its takoyaki. The octopus tasted clean, and its fried batter tasted fluffy and fresh. I also enjoyed the California rolls. Its avocado tasted fresh, and its filling was prepared thoughtfully. The Pork Katsu also had a delicious breading. I adored its flakiness and thin crunch. The pork is thick, but it's also a little spongey & dry. Fortunately, dipping the Pork Katsu into the sauce saves the flavor. Unfortunately, the steamed rice was disgusting. I had to spit it out into a napkin. The rice tasted like wet clay. It's extremely gloopy and mushy. The accompanying egg was also tofu-like. It tasted like a tasteless, microwaved gelatin egg. Concerning ambiance, Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) felt dirty. The tables all had old crumbs and flakes inside the crevices. Tiny bits of trash were unswept under the tables. The location had ventilation, but the air felt dusty. The place felt old and unmaintained. However, I did enjoy the upbeat Korean music. I also liked how the tables were somewhat wiped despite its stickiness. Unfortunately, Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) only offers hand sanitizer for hands because there's no available restroom. Overall, Ginkgo Katsu (Diamond Bar) is a decent, budget spot. The food is affordable and big, but it's hit-or-miss. If curious, go with very low expectations. 3.4 out of 5

It was on a rainy day where I was a bit lazy to cook, so I stopped by Ginkgo Katsu! This was located in a busy plaza with other restaurants. For ordering, they have a kiosk inside. However, it wasn't busy when I went (probably due to the rain), so there was a staff that took my order at the counter. American Express is accepted as a payment option. It wasn't long for the order to be ready and it was neatly organized. My order was the pork katsu bento. The bento was well balanced with a variety of items such as katsu, egg, cabbage salad, pickled veggies, seaweed salad, California roll, takoyaki. The cabbage sauce was put in a sauce container. This bento had a generous portion of items, especially with the katsu and cabbage salad. This was something you could share between two people. With the variety of items, I never felt particularly tired of any flavors! I didn't eat the bento right away, but the Katsu remained crispy. In comparison, the egg did get a bit soggy, so highly encourage folks to eat that when it's as fresh as possible. I had some serious Japan withdrawal, but this bento helped me reminisce a bit! Couldn't recommend this place more.

Tucked in the corner of a korean supermarket plaza off 60 freeway. This small cozy restaurant offers online and in-store order. The in-store kiosk touch screen point of sales is similar to many boba tea shops. It's very simple to navigate and use. Within seconds, I ordered my meal. The interior is simple with a few tables. There wasnt any outdoor seating. The background music is light with low-medium volume. The food was freshly prepared. The bento box was slightly more expensive than other places but totally worth it. It comes with takoyaki, small side dishes, katsu, rice, and salad. It was pretty delicious. I just had to say that the rice was almost too soggy. The portion was very satisfying, kept me full for hours. Their tea was freshly made, didnt taste like straight out of tea bag. However, I didnt get to see how it was made. Overall, it was enjoyable. Definitely will visit again. 4.6 out of 5.

The prices have steadily increased over the years. However it is still one of the best classic Katsu places. They are also the only place that has a Bento with so much variety for the cost. Unfortunately it is not the great value that it was in the past. Still this is a best in class restaurant within the area and can't be missed.

Happy to visit this place again! Just started work around here so I can stop by more. Wanted to try the Kimchi Fried Rice and the Shrimp Tempura Roll this time. Love how you can order yourself and how you get your food quickly. The Bento box is so great, as I love variety and it has all of that. The kimchi rice is HUGE, and so is the crunch roll! Can't wait to stop by again soon! Until next time !

Went to Ginkgo Katsu and got the cheese pork katsu -- honestly pretty solid. Crispy, cheesy, good portion, no complaints on the food. Only thing that threw me off was the service. I was planning to dine in so I added a tip, but when my food was ready they handed it to me in a to-go plastic bag. Kinda confusing lol. I also asked for water and they just pointed to where it was instead of helping. Just made me feel like... what was the tip for? Still giving 4 stars though because the food was good. Not trying to knock a business over service like that, but hopefully they tighten that up a bit. I'd come back and give it another try for sure.

Stopped by to order takeout for my dad The staff were sweet, enthusiastic, and helpful! They took my order immediately and even delivered it to my table They have a new combo where if you buy a katsu plate or box, you receive a complimentary tea The presentation was beautiful! Even the takeout container the katsu plate came in was aesthetic! I didn't get to try it as I bought it for my dad, but the katsu looked so perfectly crispy! The portions are generous too, as there's plenty of cutlet pieces, rice, and salad :)

I came here on a week night and it was pretty empty. I ordered the pork katsu with rice and it was good. The portion seems large, but the katsu are kind of thin. The restaurant is clean and the staff was nice and helpful. It's located in a big plaza, so parking was easy. I would go back to try other things on the menu.

almost paper thin and cost around $20
    Jesse W.

Used to love this place, but not anymore. The fish katsu was already $18, and now it's almost $20 for one PAPER-THIN piece of fish (check out the photo if you don't believe me). It used to come with two big, thick pieces that were actually filling. Now it's DRY, BLAND, and I'm still hungry after finishing it. When I called, they claimed they only give two pieces if the fish piece is small -- not true based on my past orders. This is straight-up price gouging. Charging more while cutting portions and quality is a rip-off. Won't be ordering again.

Gingko Katsu is a katsu and tea restaurant located on Brea Canyon Rd in Diamond Bar next to Yupdduk. They have appetizers, chicken katsu, pork katsu, fish katsu, sushi rolls, rice dishes, noodle dishes, tea drinks, and some desserts. I ordered a Chicken Katsu Bento Box. This was fantastic. Huge portion size for a bento box. Chicken katsu was perfectly fried and breaded to perfection. Chicken was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Rice was soft and paired well with the chicken katsu. I enjoyed the Japanese pickled radish which were a nice crunchy complement to the chicken katsu. Curry sauce was sweet and tangy. The California rolls were great. Service was great. I ordered over the phone was told it would take about 15 minutes. I arrived a little after 15 minutes and the order was there. I was greeted upon entry. Cashier was friendly. They asked if I was here to pickup to which I said yes. The restaurant is fairly small with a few tables. Parking was packed when I went. Across from the restaurant are some EV charging stations. I enjoyed the Chicken Katsu Bento Box. Will be back for another visit!

I ordered the half sweet matcha with oat milk, and it was delicious. The portion size was generous, and despite how busy they were, my drink came out surprisingly fast. I loved that you can order from a touchscreen kiosk and easily customize your drink with all the available add ins. The menu is huge, but the digital ordering system makes it easy to browse and see all your options. The location itself is small with minimal seating, but it has a cute atmosphere and a great vibe. What I love most here is the ordering experience. There are multiple large touchscreens where you can fully customize your drink -- sugar level, ice level, add-ons, substitutions, you name it. I almost always go for zero sugar, and the fact that I can do that easily is a huge plus for me. It's the kind of flexibility that modern boba shops should all offer. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, which is refreshing compared to some other spots in the area. Is it the most amazing boba I've ever had? Honestly, no -- but the ability to build your drink exactly the way you want it more than makes up for it. There's also a large display screen showing order status, so you always know when your drink is ready. It's a small touch, but it makes the whole experience feel smooth and stress-free. I'll be real though -- I probably drink more coffee from the Starbucks across the street than boba from here. At the end of the day, coffee feels like the healthier daily habit. But when I'm in the mood for something different, this place is where I'll be.

It's nice and not too milky, good tea to milk ratio, tea is fragrant. Some places for example if the tea is weak then it just tastes like sweet milk. Or it's like BARELYYY a bit of tea where you smell it but don't taste it. But here the oolong is pretty strong and the roast is nice so I thought it was good! They're open pretty late and there's some seating inside, some directly outside, and then even more out in a patio. Also at night people were just chatting and chillin around their cars so that's an option too since less cars driving around. There was a bunch of people when I went so I was expecting a pretty long wait. But maybe it was just 10 min or so? Soooo quick I was so surprised. Molly Tea for example is packed because of people waiting to order/waiting for their drink, but here people were just chillin and hanging out for the sake of hanging out. The drinks are quick!

Their merchandise (magnets, hair accessories. ..) is super cute. We ordered their milk tea flight, which included a jasmine milk tea, osmanthus milk tea, and a dark/black milk tea. We also got the lychee smoothie, oolong milk tea and the lemon kumquat tea. All our drinks were ordered at 50% sweetness. All drinks were a hit. The jasmine milk tea tastes very similar to a milk tea competitor that shares the same name scheme (Cha_ _ _). ChaHalo has good boba and more variety, though, which is a plus! Their lychee smoothie was perfectly sweet at 50%. The oolong milk tea had the perfect milk to tea ratio, and the lemon kumquat tea was refreshing. Out of the drinks in the flight, the jasmine milk tea was best, then osmanthus if you like the floral tea flavor, and lastely the dark milk tea, which wasn't anything special. There were a few small tables inside, and seating in their patio. Drinks came out quickly and service was efficient and friendly. We will be back!

Matcha lovers, this one is worth the stop…read more I visited Chayan not too long after they opened, and this was such a good find in Rowland Heights. First of all, the space itself is beautiful. The traditional Chinese-inspired aesthetic gives the shop such an elegant, calm atmosphere. It isn't overly flashy or trying too hard to be trendy--it just feels peaceful and thoughtfully put together. Definitely the kind of place where you can slow down and actually enjoy your tea. But let's talk about the reason I came here: the Matcha Green Tea Frappe. SO. GOOD. What immediately stood out to me was that this didn't taste like one of those drinks where the actual matcha gets completely buried underneath sugar. You can genuinely taste the matcha and the quality of the tea. It has that distinct matcha flavor while still being creamy and enjoyable. And the topping?! Instead of just throwing regular whipped cream on it, they top it with whipped matcha and roasted peanuts, which gives it this really interesting combination of creamy, earthy, nutty flavors. The peanuts add a little texture and complement the matcha surprisingly well. It tasted intentional rather than just sweet for the sake of being sweet. That's probably my biggest recommendation before coming here: if you're looking for an extremely sugary, dessert-style matcha, this may not be what you're looking for. This is much more about actually tasting the tea. If you want something loaded with sugar where the matcha disappears somewhere in the background... Starbucks is right there. But if you appreciate a more balanced drink where you can actually taste good-quality matcha, I absolutely recommend giving Chayan a try. Beautiful atmosphere, quality tea, unique flavors, and an overall really relaxing experience. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

4/5 For some of you…read morewho might not know, CHAYAN is: * Chayan -- a UK / London-born tea brand * Origin: London, United Kingdom, originally known as Tastetea * Specialty: Modern-style Chinese tea, frappes, and "chappuccinos" topped with cream and nuts * The brand has also expanded internationally, including locations in Canada such as British Columbia. LOCATION & PARKING This CHAYAN is located inside Pacific Plaza on Colima Rd. The parking lot is shared with the other businesses in the plaza, and it's not very big, so parking can sometimes be a little limited. The shop is on the ground level, right next to the stairs that lead up to the second floor. ORDERING & ATMOSPHERE Once you walk into the store, there are two self-order kiosks on the left where you can place your own order. You can also walk straight to the counter and have one of the staff members help you. The staff members I interacted with were nice and friendly. Usually, there aren't too many customers inside, so the atmosphere tends to be pretty quiet and relaxing. PEACH OOLONG MILK TEA I've visited this place twice. The first time, I ordered the Peach Oolong Milk Tea with their chestnut boba--or whatever their specialty topping is called. Sorry, I forgot the exact name, but it's definitely not the regular black boba. The drink was pretty good. It wasn't overly sweet, and I liked how the peach flavor blended nicely with the tea. You could still taste the tea instead of the peach flavor completely overpowering it. DA HONG PAO MILK TEA The second time, I ordered the Da Hong Pao Milk Tea with the same chestnut topping. This one was decent as well. Nothing crazy or mind-blowing, but still an enjoyable milk tea. OVERALL Both times I came here, I had a good experience. I'm giving CHAYAN 4 stars because while none of the drinks really "wowed" me, they were still good enough for me to consider this place above average overall. Friendly staff Nice and quiet atmosphere Drinks aren't overly sweet Good tea flavor Easy ordering with kiosks or at the counter The drinks just need a little more of that "wow factor" for me to give this place a full 5 stars. Will definitely come back again and try some of their other drinks!

The presentation of their fresh milk mochi (鲜奶麻薯) bowls and dip-and-stretch mochi desserts is undeniable--it makes for great photos, and the shop itself is super bright and clean. The stretchy texture of the milk mochi base was fun and delightfully soft, and components like the taro paste and purple rice had a nice, subtle sweetness. However, for the price point, the execution fell a little short. Some of the toppings felt under-prepared; the taro balls lacked that fresh, springy chewy elasticity you want in a shaved ice/mochi bowl, and the coconut jelly base tasted slightly watered down instead of rich. Logistics wise, the service was quite slow even though the store wasn't very busy, and parking in this Labin Court plaza can be a complete nightmare during peak evening hours. It's a solid place to stop by once for the aesthetic and novelty, but given the steep competition for Asian desserts in Rowland, it doesn't quite hit top-tier status for me.
