We actually went to this food truck in hopes of finding some authentic Taiwanese shaved ice. Unfortunately because they moved their store front to a food truck they can no longer serve. However, we did not want to just leave empty handed and heard that the popcorn chicken was very good. My family and I were not disappointed at all. The popcorn chicken and sweet potato fry combo was cooked to perfection. Super crispy on the outside and soft/juicy on the inside. The seasoning was perfect as well! The combo was $14 and came with popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries, and a drink. Which I think is pretty reasonable for the portion size. The food truck is located by TS emporium side street on Nogales and Daisetta Street. Upon arriving the fragrance and ambiance really feel like Taiwan. Bobamia is one of my favorite Taiwanese restaurant. Even though you are ordering from a food truck, don't judge or you will be missing out. They are parked at the same spot around 4:30-5 pm. There are a few tables and chairs available for outdoor seating as well. There is usually 3 other food trucks that are parked in the area too as well. My favorite food truck is Bobamia they will cook your food once ordered so you will get fresh good with the cost that you will have to wait. If you are into stinky tofu, this is a must try. I also order the pig intestine thin noodle soup and the red yeast pork rice. You will not find too many places that offer the red yeast pork rice!! So you have to try it! All the food is super yummy, good portions, and prices are very reasonable. The entrees also comes with a free drink with either winter melon tea or milk tea. So I recommend you order in advance over the phone before picking up your food. It's normally at least a 15-20 min wait depending on busy they are. The staff here are really friendly and I love ordering with the owner. I go there so often that she even recognizes my voice and knows my usual orders too. read more

Amazing! What went well? Well I guess everything we ordered went well! I was a little skeptical at first but decided to give it a try. I ordered the stinky tofu, OMG, it blew me away! No way it tasted better than most actual Taiwan night markets half way around the world! The crispy texture and the smell hit the spot! Paired with kimchi and the chili sauce you are in stinky heaven! I think the smell could be "more stinky" but I'm guessing this is better suited for the masses. We ordered the Cajun Corn, it tasted similar to most Cajun dishes with a little bit of character. Could be a hit or miss with some. I liked it. My main entree was pork ribs rice, solid 5/5 stars the meat was tender with flavor! My wife had the tofu rice, the tofu came out just a tiny bit salty, but was acceptable as the flavor was spot on! The only drawback back from eating food truck is that there's not much service (hence no tips) and you are eating right on the curb using their pop out tables and chairs. Passed by this place whenever I go to my friend's place but never got to try it. Today my friend and I decided to stop by on the way home after pickle ball. I ordered a fresh taro slush large size with pudding as the topping. The small slush was $3.50 and the large was $4.00. Since it was only $0.50 difference I decided to get the large. This place doesn't have dine in so you have to place your order at a pick up window. The drinks all seem like a good deal compared to other boba places. The minimum spend to use credit card is $10. After placing the order for 2 drinks, we waited about 5 -10 mins for the drinks to get prepared. To my surprise, the fresh taro slush was pretty good. I didn't adjust the sugar level (although not sure if you can), but might be too sweet for some people. The pudding had strong flavor and later would overpower the taro flavor. The slush overall was good flavor though. There is also crystal boba as a topping option even though it's not listed on the menu. I would definitely want to come back next time and try the popcorn chicken and their other drinks! I'm not able to upload pictures for this restaurant at this moment.. not sure why. read more

With limited dining options nearby, I was initially skeptical about whether it would be open due to the lack of reviews. I debated if it was worth the drive, but I'm so glad I decided to go. I just tried out this place. I bought the pork belly with red pork. Unfortunately the pork belly tasted awful. I've had this type of pork before. It's due to male pig with androstenone and skatole. The taste was sour and bad odor. I threw away 75% of the bowl since the pork belly stew was all over the rice. Cabbage was okay. The red grain pork was okay since the pork was fried which is one way to remove/coat pork foul flavor. The service was quick and simple. A bit difficult to find since they're in a residential street. Overall I wanted to like this place but I would definitely skip this place or not get any of the pork products. read more

Ordered twice and happy with the food both times. Fish fillet is not over-battered, just the right amount of crunch and soft on the inside. Not too salty either. I never thought of coming here but one day while driving around looking for what to eat for lunch I saw a line in front of their order window and saw the older people waiting and that's how I knew it had to be good because adults will wait only if something is bomb. I come here during lunch and have tried their popcorn chicken rice and fried pork chop with rice. The sides that come with the food is always great! Who doesn't enjoy some steamed veggies and some corn and egg. The little bit of minced pork on the rice gives it a bunch of flavor as well. The best part though is definitely the free drink. For a little short of $10 you get all this food and a drink? STEAL. This is a great place if you're lazy and don't want to make the drive to Rowland. One of my pandemic staples has been popcorn chicken and crispy tofu, because they're two things that I don't get to enjoy as often because my dad is mildly allergic to chicken and soy (but he still eats my food anyway). I'm happy to report both of those are good here! The popcorn chicken was plentiful. I got a regular and my box was filled to the top with chicken! Talk about value for money. The taste was also on point. They didn't skimp at all on the slight funk (IYKYK) and they were all tender and moist with generous amounts of basil to make you feel like it's kinda healthy (I like to tell myself that anyway). The tofu was also decent. They aren't fried in a breaded coating and usually I don't like it this way but it worked for this. The tofu was still slightly crispy and soft. They serve it in a light soy sauce with cilantro and chilli and it worked for this dish. Definitely good if you're a fan of tofu. Lastly I got grass jelly drinks with wintermelon tea. These were pretty sweet at 50% so consider going down to 25 or 30% if you like things less sweet. I called to order take out today, was told that it wasn't available for just drinks, but it was fine since I wanted to order food too. I was told that it was going to take 20-25 minutes, it took some extra time even after that time period, but it wasn't too bad. We got the: 1) Peanut butter milk tea: -It's more like a peanut powder drink. None of the creaminess of peanut butter. The person I got this drink for did not like it. 2) Caramel milk tea with boba: -Standard sweet caramel milk tea made with what I assume is syrup. They don't drizzle the caramel sauce on the side, so it was sweet, but also a bit watery? -Boba was alright. 3) Mini Dumplings: -Probably the highlight of our order. Came with a lot of pieces and they were very crispy. 4) Sesame Balls: -We ordered spicy fish cakes and we got this on accident... -We only realized this when we got home. It was alright, but not what we ordered lmao. 5) Mozarella sticks: -The most disappointing part of our order sadly. -Cheese was not melty at all. You don't get the legendary stretchy, melty cheese experience with mozarella sticks you order from other places. Honestly, it was probably just a miss with our drinks and the mistaken order. As a Taiwanese American, I am ashamed I did not come through to this place earlier. I've been a teacher at Workman (the high school right next to the shop) as long as this place has been open. So, when I finally stopped by a month or so ago, it was like a long overdue trip home (in some weird sense). First off, this place feels as if it's stuck in the early 2000s and never left it, in all the good ways. For example, the price of their combos. For the price you pay to get both an entree amd a drink here is a deal in itself. The fact that the food is good too makes it even better. They rotate their sides everyday and make sure to honor the sweetness you find in most taiwanese dishes. Their red yeast pork is...very legit. The fact they slap those old jay chou songs too, it's like an elevated lollicup dropped out of the sky and in to La Puente circa early 2000s. A good mix of ethnicities come eat here and you will hear the occasional conversations in Taiwanese which means it's earned the respect of some mother island peoples too.
