Service is great, food is phenomenal, and the prices are crazy affordable compared to other brunch establishments around this area. My first trip to Ginger Sue's I had the crab eggs Benedict and while I didn't care for the sausage (personal preference) it was to-die-for. Today I took my daughters and we were all impressed. The staff are attentive and kind which is important for my dining experience and always mentioned in my reviews. I particularly love the fact they all pitch in and help each other, they definitely don't have the mentality of "oh that's not my table." One order of biscuits and gravy, one regular eggs Benedict, and two chocolate chip pancakes later we were stuffed and happy! The biscuits are out-of-this-world light, fluffy, and large and the gravy was tasty and unique. The pancakes were huge, thick, and packed a lot of flavor. My wife surprised me for a weekend getaway to KC! Our adventures begin at Ginger Sue's. I ordered a half stack of their famous pancakes with bananas and peanut butter with a side of bacon! The pancakes were huge and delish as our previous adventures to Ginger Sues. However, the bacon was not as crispy as previous times. Seasoning was spot on though. Overall, it was a great visit. This is our go to breakfast place in Overland Park/ Olathe area. The pancakes and the various syrup they have are just plain delicious. Their omelettes and egg dishes are very clean tasting. After eating food from certain other breakfast establishments, I just feel very full and heavy, but the food here is always light and tasty and causes no post meal heaviness effect. read more

Ginger Sue's held high praise throughout the yelp-verse, so it was added as a must try on our KC Breakfast tour. I ordered their Cajun Crepe - and regarding the picture, it tasted exactly like it looked. The flavors within were unremarkable and bland. The crepe was taken off the pan too early, leaving a barely cooked wrapper to hold together what drivel they put within. We followed that up with a pancake that tasted alkaline, dry, and squeaky on the teeth, so the guy with the baking powder got carried away. Like many places, it seems good enough is good enough, but pancakes are harder to do right than it seems. This one - like most bad ones - was battery and dense, lacking flavor, but rich in appearance. I wouldn't have another one of those. The biscuit was salted properly, fluffy, an I'm sure was entirely homemade. The problem - much like the crepe - is that no one seems to understand when you brown something, it gives it flavor. These biscuits were white as snow. Another swing and a miss. The only saving grace were their pillow-soft, fried potatoes with parsley; being seasoned well with good, natural flavor - the only thing done right here. If I wasn't touring Kansas City breakfast establishments, I don't think I'd know any better - and this would be just fine enough. But I am, and this wasn't. No go. read more

Newly opened, in the former location of 119th Diner, Ginger Sues serves breakfast and lunch exclusively, and boy do they do a good job of it!!! We walked over (exercise makes you enjoy food more, right?) and walked into a welcoming, bright and clean restaurant that is destined to win a large following. Don't expect glitz and flash, this spot exudes honesty, and small town hospitality. The owners are David and his wife (appropriately named) Ginger Sue. David grew up in the business as his family business was catering all sorts of events. The menu selection covers inspired breakfast items as well as a nice array of luncheon items and entrees. We selected from the Egg Benedict sub-section choosing the Crab and Andouille sausage version. We split an order as well as split a half stack of their Apple Cinnamon pancakes. In future visits (and there will be many of those) we'll go one way or the other. Can't do justice to both items at the same sitting! Portions are like you'd serve to family you haven't seen in years...just to say 'welcome.' We were surprised to find that unlike most restaurants these days, there was a nice bed of real lump crabmeat under the egg and hollandaise sauce. Being a self proclaimed 'sausage-afficianado' I paid careful attention to that item. The sausage pieces were intermixed with the crab equally, and very flavorful with the correct bite of spice for the type. Everything was so well prepared and beautifully plated, fresh and obviously just-made. No alcohol, just family friendly with an emphasis on food quality. The huge coffee station also accommodates those with a craving for tasty exotic coffees! We just enjoyed the regular pour and it too is delicious. Welcome to the neighborhood Ginger Sue's. So so disappointed in this establishment. Used to go here once a month, sometimes more when my mom comes to visit from out of town, but at this point I doubt I will ever be back. I have a medical (mental) condition that makes it impossible for me to wear a mask. There were only 4 people in the restaurant at the time and we even asked to be seated outside so it wouldn't cause an "issue." We were sat outside, our drink order was taken and we checked the menu on our phone to order our simple breakfast and be on our way. Before we could even order our food, another employee I'd never seen before (who looked rather homeless with his scraggly, greasy looking hair) came outside to demand I put a mask on and asked me for my documentation. When I told him I didn't have any, he said he could sell me a $1 mask despite that fact that I told him I couldn't wear one. My mother and I walked right out without saying another word. Found another amazing and delicious place for breakfast without any trouble and plan to be back to that place next time she's in town! Shame on this establishment for discriminating those with difficulty wearing a mask! They will never get my business or my money again. read more

Pretty standard since it specializes in breakfast and brunch, no dinner. This place nails hospitality, quaint and causal atmosphere. It's spacious and clean; the staff is friendly, personable and accommodating. Honestly, the food is great, especially given the affordability and price of all their menu items (cheap and tasty!) I had the Grilled Chicken Scramble: grilled chicken, spinach, red pepper, mushroom and goat cheese topped with Hollandaise sauce on top of their PHENOMENAL potatoes. Seriously. Get the potatoes. If you take nothing away from this review, well then I need to reevaluate my life, then just remember to get their potatoes. Equally as awesome as the potatoes is the banana topped with peanut butter pancakes. Oh. Em. Gee! I'm salivating just typing it. The pancake is as big as yo face and is excellent -- don't even need the butter since you have the peanut butter. You can opt to get the full stack (4 cakes), half stack (2 cakes) or single cake (1 cake). I ordered my pancake a la cart, just to try it, and I'm glad I only got the 1 cake. I wasn't ready for the Man vs Food challenge on taking on a full stack of these pancakes. Lastly, this building can be tough to see from the street/if you're using Apple Maps. We've been to the one up in the Northland so we tried this one today. I had the gravy scramble which was bland and small. Had to add a side of toast as it doesn't come with anything. My wife had turkey sausage, fries eggs and fruit cup & added a pancake. Pancake was great. Turkey sausage was not. Service was good. Went here for breakfast and absolutely loved it! This restaurant by far passes any First Watch, IHOP, or Le Peep. The potatoes were incredibly crunchy and delectable and the service was phenomenal. They didn't have any padding on the seats nor did they have chair pads available for folks that have difficulty sitting on hard surfaces. Luckily, I had one in the vehicle so my companion could be comfortable. There weren't any vegan options on the menu but they threw together some vegetables for me. It was delicious, beautiful, and I was thankful I they were willing to make a "special" entree for me. The person dining with me ordered the Ginger's Special. The bacon looked really weird. He needed 4 paper towels to soak up the grease. They also put a big, melting dollop of butter on his plate that was all over the bottom of the biscuit and half of the bacon. It was just a mess. I did not take a picture because I didn't want to embarrass the restaurant further. Hopefully, they will "clean it up" going forward. The restaurant was clean. The staff were kind. Someone kept yelling out something unintelligible from the back. The bottom line... I don't think I'll seek this place out if I'm in Olathe again but many people seemed to be enjoying their food. read more

My parents call this place "Ginger Zoo's" because on the weekend this place is hoppin' and you will have to wait, but that's pretty typical for a brunch spot in Johnson County. I always get the Aloha Awakea omelet: it has ham, pineapple, and toasted coconut and is unexpectedly delicious and comes with potatoes and a biscuit for around $8. I think it's a fantastic value. When I feel like switching it up I opt for the salmon eggs benedict, they will let you get the eggs on it cooked any way you like and is served with breakfast potatoes for about $11. read more

Because every experience over the past several years at Ginger Sue's has been a 5 star, spot on experience, for me, I will not go into detail about today's experience, except to say that the service was fine, and this about the food. All in all, every person, or restaurant can have an off day, I think that day for them, was today. I might just avoid Sundays and stick to Saturdays as is my usual experience. Second ginger she's, same quality at both restaurants. I am impressed that although this place has been packed both times k have visited, their staff is awesome and accommodating. A great stop for breakfast, but get here early because it fills up fast! We came in around 7:00 and were one of only three tables of people in there. But the time we left about 45 min later, the place was packed. The restaurant is light, spacious and clean. Our server was really nice and prompt. My friend and I each ordered pancakes. I got the blueberry and he got the chocolate chip. We each got a half stack (2 pancakes) and they were HUGE! Two pancakes doesn't sound like a lot, but it was more than plenty for each of us. The pancakes were light, fluffy and perfectly cooked. We each ordered a mocha and they were great as well. There was a ton of whipped cream on top, which I would probably forgo next time. Tough to write a bad review for a place you love, but that's what this is. There are 2 reasons that this experience was one of the worst I've ever had...anywhere. First of all, called ahead to see if it would be okay to bring my puppy and have breakfast, because I'd seen people with their dogs sit outside at 1 of the 2 tables they have on a fenced in (no gate) patio. I was told it was fine as long as someone wasn't sitting out there, and that currently there wasn't. By the time I showed up 5 minutes later, someone else had shown up and was sitting out there. I told the general manager I'd be willing to wait, but he told me that "if someone else shows up and wants to sit out there, YOU'LL BE ASKED TO LEAVE". Let that sink in for a minute: You wait half an hour, get a table with your pet, get drinks, order food, wait for it...and can just randomly be asked to leave so someone else can sit out there. This is not how you run a business. This is literally the worst business practice I've ever encountered. You either have a "no pets" policy, which is fine, or you don't seat people outside that don't have pets/accommodate those that do. Having said that, I got the e-mail address for one of the owners and have e-mailed them telling them as much. This is where I began to get upset, because there was no way to reach an accommodation. That leads to reason 2 why this experience was the worst... The general manager (Kendall) is quite possibly one of the worst restaurant managers I've ever encountered. When a customer is upset and attempting to find a solution/come to an accommodation and all you can do is basically say that they're too busy to be inconvenienced with a customer issue; that's a very basic customer service fail. He didn't even attempt to start a to-go order (so I didn't even end up getting to eat). At the end of a very terse conversation and getting the owner information, I was fit to be tied. FYI, if you're unreasonable and bad at your job; people deserve to know so they can make an informed decision about where they elect to patron. Until I receive a face to face apology from him and there's a policy change regarding pets; I will not patron this establishment. read more

Went on a recomendation from a friend. Great advice. Service was quick and very courteous. I had the Denver omelect and wife had the Ginger special. Both very good. Biscuits, homemade, light and fluffy. Omelet was light and fluffy, could use a little more fillings, but overall excellent. Potatoes were hot and very good. Nice, friendly and clean place! The menu is nice! They have some different takes on breakfast than most places around here. You can get crab Benedict or an omelette with crab meat. I ordered the Salmon Benedict (pictured). It was absolutely delicious! I had a cappuccino with it. It was wonderful as well! I will definitely be going back. Next time with the wife and kids. The place is very family friendly and has a nice outdoor seating area for nice days. You can also sit at the coffee bar if you are on your own or don't want to sit at a booth or table. Sunday morning and we could see the line. Parking was way out in the lot. Were told an hour wait, maybe just 40 min. There was a nice bench where my husband who has leg pain, walks with a cane and has a significant limp was sitting. Then the "hostess" told us we would have to wait outside (where there was nowhere to sit) or in our car (a long hike back). We just left. This is not readonable.
