so i am a retired heavy equip/mech certed in hydo/electronic . i decided to order a duel mini split sytem and install it myself, no big deal for me. i have the vac/pump to test for leak down. got system running but noticed that the cooling wasn't full up. so i called Gilmore to come out and test system to add the necessary amount of R454B freon to the system. guess what they REFUSED because they didn't install the system. so that means they will never service it ever ? SO I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM EVER... who do they think they are ? very poor service... read more

I was very happy with the service received from Gilmore Heating and air. Michaled serviced and fixed a broken valve on wall heater of one of my rentals, and Saul completely replaced entire heater from another rental. There are few companies that service old fashion wall heaters, and I was worried I would have to install central heating, in a condominium that can be challenging, so I was lucky to find Gilmore . They were polite and respectful of tenant. They partner with another company named Moe's plumbing and so they were able to also fix the gas line to my tenants range and so I didn't have to call another plumber and it was all done in the same day with same company. Raked over the coals to repair a 4-year old system - that they sold us! Waited a week for parts. Husband was told it would be around $1200-1400. After 7 hours of work was told it was $2100!!! Didn't see the parts that were changed out. We told the installer we would send the invoice to my relocation company, which now owns my house as it goes through escro. He called his boss who demanded payment then and there. Said he didn't want to have to put a lien on our house. Seriously? Negotiated to $1650. That stung. The nightmare continues. By 2:00 the next afternoon- not 24 hours later, the AC stopped working. Here we are again in triple digit heat, waiting for another repair. Feel really taken advantage of. Is it because we are elderly? Not sure what the recourse is. Any advice would be appreciated. We still don't know of the original install was botched or they used old or bad parts. It should have lasted more than 4 years. When we asked these questions, the installer simply said, "well they don't build things to last anymore." Seriously? Gilmore Heating is great! I couldn't have asked for better service. My mother's house has old heaters from the 1930s that needed repair. There is no way she could afford a new heating system. Gilmore Heating found parts and repaired her 3 floor heaters with efficient and friendly service. Eric and Dimas were wonderful and were very patient and happy to answer all our questions and address all our concerns. Plus, we paid the amount we were quoted, no added fees even though I suspect they had more work than anticipated due to the age of the heaters. Beware that this company was sold several years ago. The quality of work is not the same. My client recently replaced her a/c with the new Gilmore and when it came time to sell the buyer's inspector noted problems with the install. Gilmore came out and corrected those but my client had to pay for parts. Then when the buyer had their a/c contractor come out, they found electrical problems with Gilmore's install. Although Gilmore offered to come out and take a look, my client hired an electrician to correct the electrical issues with the a/c costing her several hundred dollars more. When I talked to Gilmore and asked for the owner, I was told he does not get involved with the day to day operations. read more

They installed a heating and air-conditioning system along with hot water heater to our condo and the building was very outdated. The prior owner of this business was Johnny Vossmeyer who sold it two years ago when he retired and moved to south Orange County. Gilmore I have used for 30+ years until this week. When ownership switched it became an "up-sell" operation it seems, and is owned by a large conglomerate. It is no longer "mom and pop" and trustworthy. My home annual service contract which included both my smaller central units upstairs and downstairs was attempted to be doubled two months ago because they said "we only thought there was a single unit to service". Then they attempted to get me to upgrade to two new AC units when mine work fine. Then today I just wrote a check for nearly $800 for service to my business office units with no warning or discussion of the work needed. They also disabled two of my three Heater units in the middle of our March cold snap without calling me, saying there was "CO emissions" and we needed two new units. I didn't believe them after what they pulled on me at my home with my wife and a $300-400 maintenance fee for new capacitors which were fine. They did show up on time and in nice trucks which I noticed had the major corp logo on the truck (in small print at bottom) that bought out Johnny. Look, if you don't mind spending a fortune, having no one call you as the owner to explain WHY you need the alleged items charged, and conning your non mechanical women in your life into new units, they may be they are for you. I'm just spoiled with Johnny Vossmeyer being honest and dependable and reasonable. I don't trust this company anymore. I have made my last call there. read more

Called them this year for a central a/c system repair and replacement quote and they didn't even call me back. :( Granted, it was the first hot day of the year when I called and I know they were busy, but sheesh. Once recently a service guy came out and gave us a "free" service call and then charged us $200 for a thermostat I could buy at Home Depot for $60. Summer 2021, they came out several times to fix the same thing. Price kept going up and up. They also accidentally butt dialed a neighbor who used them recently. The service people were talking to each other about ways to raise prices to make up for the slump in work volume which comes in the fall. Scam city. read more

Have been with Gilmore more than a decade WAS great Owner Operator business. Window of service 11A to 1P. Had service to "Replace Filters" on Bryant Units in Basement. Aaron was on time, 11:14AM, masked up and polite. Start Downhill slide. Knowing the prices would be more than 2019, I was not prepared for the notice of replacing (again) Conductors that should have a life span of 10-12 YEARS NOT MONTHS. I showed him the 2019 Gilmore service bill where 1 had been already replaced. I approved the other ONE (as I have upstairs and downstairs units). $98.00 for the part, service was still polite. BUT.... HITS ON THE SERVICE: He never let me review my invoice, said he'd read it off the TABLET. He said he was emailing it to me and read back the correct email address. The bill was over $400.00. CONS: While working he said "There is a great deal of DRYWALL DUST on the covers of these units." My reply "SERIOUSLY??? this is a CONCRETE BASEMENT. The entire house is PLASTER and has zero drywall in it." This should have been a clue that I check every where and every THING he touched right then. But I trusted Gilmore for a Decade! 3AM the next morning I am awakened by Grand kids freezing because the Upstairs unit NEVER COME ON. A unit working fine before this guy came. Going into the basement we could not find a restart button or an issue until "I" went down to review the unit. NEVER let a Man go check it, send the Woman!! 1st thing I did was look for the Power Supply and ck power cable. THE JACKASS FROM GILMORE Aaron, NEVER PLUGGED THE UNIT BACK IN!! 42 degrees outside 59 degrees inside my house. THANK YOU GILMORE FOR SELLING OUT TO LARGE CORPORATION AND DESTROYING THE GOOD WILL OF GILMORE. MOE PLUMBING IS PART OF THEM BUYER BE VERY VERY VERY AWARE. We of course needed our air conditioner repaired this HOT HOT summer. Phoned to set up an appt and they were booked for 12 days. She told me when they would be at the house. They arrived when they said they would and did their magic and it works great! Could not be happier with the service. They spent time checking to see what needed to be done and asked my permission before going forward with the repair. We used them last winter to fix our heater too. With the same great service. This was the first summer and fall we made it through without having our unit breakdown. Why? Because the chumps we had been using before (two separate companies that we will make sure none of our friends, relatives, and neighbors NEVER use) had rewired our unit on purpose to blow during a heat wave. It worked like a charm two years in a row. In fact, the last guy put an extra capacitor in just to be sure that it would go out. Thank God for Gilmore Heating & Air Conditioning - he took the extra capacitor out and rewired the unit to run correctly. What a shocker - not a single problem through any of the heat waves. DON'T TRUST ANYONE ELSE. If they can fit you in within hours, they're NOT honest and their techs don't know what they're doing. That old adage 'if it's too good to be true, it is' is true. So is 'worth the wait.' $85 for Gilmore. $1400 for the first dishonest one who sold us a fan we didn't even need. $500 for the second dishonest guy. Worth the wait? I used Gilmore Heating recently on Nov 7th- I was very dissatisfied with the service and the technician Saul. My thermostat was somewhat not properly reading the temp in my house so it was not coming on at the correct temp to heat my house. So the technician Saul checked system in attic and then told me - my AC/ heating system (York) was not properly installed and this or that which is (BS) and told me- my issue was due to that and another issue and would be $4k to replace. However, the Technician never offered a solution to maybe change thermostat or just 101 to change out the air filter which he never checked. To me, technician appeared lazy and no motivation. Actually, I researched myself (being a 1st time home buyer) and info I acquired was to replace my air filter which I did (old one was dirty) so now Heater is working efficiently. So for $99 diagnostic with Gilmore was a waste and I called and told Staff person about issue - I should have been given a credit due to the poor service I received. So I will not be recommending this company to anyone. read more

I called on Sunday when our air conditioner stopped working and left a message to get in line for a service call ASAP during the week. Gilmore called first thing Monday morning and was able to send someone within the hour. Considering the heat and smoky air, I thought there would be a day or two wait. Chris, wearing a mask, found the problem quickly, was able to fix it, do some maintenance work, and was very professional, honest, and helpful. He is an asset to Gilmore/Moe. I used Mike Curtain until he retired. He was wonderful. Since then and the sale of the company to Moe, AC Gilmore is just not the same. It grossly overcharges for mundane tasks. They sent a platoon of 2 trucks and 3 guys to reinstall my washer and dryer after my floors were refinished. They took 2.5 hours to complete this straightforward task. When I warned them the bill had better not reflect the excess that I saw parked in my driveway, they billed me for 2 guys instead of 3 at an hourly rate of $99/hour. My washer wasn't even properly balanced. Unbelievable. I'm moving on and hope no one else gets similarly hosed. read more

It's always sad when you lose a trusted old friend. It worse when you feel your trust has been betrayed. We have used Gilmore Heating & Air-conditioning for a number of years both at our home here in Sun Valley and at our rental house in Burbank. We have always enjoyed great customer service and reasonable prices. Sometime this last year we received a notice that they were joining with Moe Plumbing. On Wed the 29th of October our furnace/heater quit working at our home. With the possibility of a cold winter arriving soon, we again called out to our friends at Gilmore for help. On October 30th, a gentleman with a Moe Plumbing Shirt and Truck answered our call with his assistant. He was an affable fellow and seemed trustworthy. After a short inspection of our furnace, he sadly informed us that the circuit control board had died and that it was unfixable. I was taken aback because Gilmore had just been out in the previous April and charged $100.00 for a repair to the same board. The repair man kindly explained to me that the board was so old parts were no longer available. He said he had tried to find a board just like our bad one for another customer and was unable to find one. He then kindly offered to give us a good deal on a new furnace with at total price tag of $5,150.00. I gulped and thanked him but said I would need to talk things over with my wife. He charged me $99.00 for the diagnostic charge and shook my hand as he left. He offered to give me the $99.00 off when he comes out to install the new unit. Fast forward to the next day. I pulled up good old Google and looked up the part number for my control board that the repair man claimed was a unicorn. I not only found one but several others both new and used. That's when I turned to yelp and looked up several another local heating and air conditioner companies all with at least four stars of approval. After several calls I agreed with another Heater & AC company to pay an additional diagnostic fee of $75.00 and have them give me a second opinion. On Friday November 1st, our new Heating and Air-conditioning repair man arrived and confirmed I had a board problem but said he could fix it. but it would take until Monday morning to get the part. On Tuesday he brought us a new control board and installed it within thirty minutes. I honestly do not know if Gilmore's representative from Moe plumbing was not very knowledgeable about parts availability or if he just flat out prevaricated to induce me to spend five (5) Grand, but you can rest assured he and Gilmore will not be called out to service anything we own again. I had a problem with my upstairs A/C unit. It didn't seem to be cooling and the thermostat wouldn't turn it off. I had to use the circuit breakers. I called Gilmore around 2:00 pm, 2/25/16, spoke to Cheryl and explained my problem. She immediately made an appointment for the next day, 2/26/16 between 9-11 am! Allan showed up around 10:00 am with some spare parts, based on the information I had given to his office. Thirty-five minutes later, he had switched out the parts, tested the A/C unit and pressure and the unit was up and working. Total cost was $130: parts $45 & labor $85. AC was blowing warm air. Called Gilmore. They said they couldn't come out to inspect the AC unit until next week? Really? Why? I had the same experience 12 months earlier. They weren't scheduling anyone for another 7 days. C'mon. Why don't you staff up some additional workers when you can't come perform a repair for 7 days? Is it that hard to staff up more employees even just for the summer? Last I saw the employment numbers were still weak. Why not hire more technicians? read more

I have a 2 1/2 story house and it gets HOT upstairs and I have an old system. I thought I would have to spend thousands on a new system. Gilmore came out and it took some time and experimentation but I ended up with fully functioning air condtioning for 1/10th of what a new system would have cost me. Their commitment to finding and locating the problem with my system was extraordinary. It took several days and there was an initial misdiagnosis. But they did NOT charge me for that.
