Absolutely amazing service. I called late in the day on a Tuesday evening for an AC repair and they were out early the following day. Fixed the issue, inspected the AC system and filters. I've been offered a 'Free' checkup on my AC by a different (won't mention names, but there's plenty of other companies like this) which turned into a full sales pitch for new $20,000 AC system which I did not need. I'm so thankful that there are still a few HONEST companies like Schirmeister out there that are willing to put in the work to fix the issue rather than just give you the sales pitch for a new unit. Water leaking from overflow pipe of the air conditioner. Called these guys. A very nice tech showed up. Checked it out. Said we needed to replace the coil for $5000 because it was cracked and leaking. Charged me $200 for the visit. Thank goodness I called I called a different company who blew out a clogged c-trap on the drain pipe, put a camera into the coil and confirmed there was nothing wrong with it. I'm so happy with this company and that I came across them on Yelp today. I called because whoever installed our a/c unit on the roof several years ago did a lousy job. There was a loose wire they basically glued to the side of the unit that had no insulation left and the wire was chafing, and a bunch of other wires were eroded after improperly being exposed to the elements. Called this morning and these guys arrived, right on time, in less than an hour after I phoned them. They diagnosed the issue and had it fixed properly in no time at all. I will definitely call them in the future for any HVAC needs. read more

Our air conditioning suddenly stopped cooling and we found out that the company we used to use for service sold their business to another company. In trying to set up an appointment they told us they could come out in 7 days. I decided to see if we could get an earlier appointment with a different outfit so I called Schirmeister-Vinci. Reached Sabrina and she told me the owner, John, would be able to come over the day I called. John and his team came over and discovered that a duct was damaged by what looked like an animal getting under our house. Very honest, very thorough. Long story short, ended up needing a new furnace. Everyone else I contacted was giving me big numbers (NexGen for example wanted to do the job at 3x what I paid with S/V). Not only that, everyone else I approached would only offer a 1-year warranty. S/V offered 2 at the outset, and actually bumped it up to three after installation. Schirmeister installed the AC in the house we bought years before we bought it in 2001. When it had an issue about 15 years ago I called another company who said they would have to replace the whole system for several thousand dollars. Wanting a second opinion I called the number that was on the ac unit, Schirmeister. They came out and fixed it for a very reasonable amount as it just needed a switch. It's still operating flawlessly!! So when the ac in the ADU on the same property was not working well, I called someone who responded quickly because I needed a fast repair for my tenant. That company charged $125 for the service call to diagnose and estimate the repairs and would apply that to any repairs. Fine all good so far. That person was there 5 minutes and called back to say $750 would be need for a hard start and to further diagnose, which would be done in 30 minutes. Likely the full repair would be $1200 but no guarantees of it being fixed. Again needing a second opinion I called Schirmeister who managed to fit me in that afternoon. John came out and quickly diagnosed the issue and repaired it on the spot for about $500, total cost. This company is honest and reliable with quality work, very nice to deal with. read more

They are rude and non responsive. Misdiagnosed the issue on the unit they installed twice. They are charging us 2100 to cover the unit that is under warranty even after admitting that they have had numerous issues with this model and the manufacturer no longer makes it. Not nice. They installed 4 units at our house a little over 3 years ago for a TON of money, and don't care or stand by their work. Period. We have had consistent service by them ONLY because they were the contractors on the project. Call them and you will see the attitude, cockiness and unwillingness in helping you with any issue you may have. And...if something doesn't work...expect to wait 2 weeks or more for them to take care of it. As a business owner I would never treat clients this way. Not acceptable. read more

Schirmeister/Vinci is a top-notch competitively priced family-run outfit. I can't recommend them highly enough. Schirmeister/Vinci has been servicing my system since I bought my house, but at 33 years old and after barely making it through last summer, this year it was time to think about replacing my heating and air with a more reliable, more efficient system. Because I already had an existing service relationship with Schirmesiter/Vinci, they were my first call to get a system replacement estimate. I also arranged for three other estimates from highly-rated contractors. Two of the other three were close to S/V on price, the third much higher, but neither of those matched S/V on the labor warranty. Joe Vinci runs the installation department and arranged to come out and give me an estimate. He was prompt, courteous, and professional, but what impressed me most was that he was the only contractor of the four I interviewed who offered to quote me two prices: one to replace my existing system as it sat (with the furnace/air handler in a closet), and a second price if I wanted to instead place the furnace and air handler in the attic and reclaim closet space. What a brilliant suggestion! And it was only a little more expensive to do it that way. Joe personally supervised the entire installation process from start to finish, working directly alongside his guys, who were equally professional. From start to finish it took three days for them to remove my old system, cut a new attic access, completely replace all ducting, and install the new system. Joe custom designed the duct system and included dampers for every duct branch so that the airflow could be fine-tuned as necessary after installation. Schirmeister/Vinci handled literally everything right down to coordinating the permits and the state-required HERS duct testing. It took some time to get the HERS paperwork back and set up an appointment for the final city inspection, but it was smooth sailing from the first phone call to shaking Joe's hand at the end. read more

My problem writing this review? I can only give 5 stars. I could justifiably give many more. My AC died on a weekend of record breaking heat. I called someone recommended by a friend. He came out, said that my condenser was shot and a replacement would be over $4,000. He left and waited for my reply. I looked more closely at the unit and found a sticker with John Schirmeister's info. It turns out that he was the original installer 25 years ago when we remodeled. I thought that there was little chance that he would still be in business. I called anyway and, lo and behold, Sabrina answered and set up a service call. John diagnosed several problems, some caused by another repair company we used a couple of years ago. One problem he recommended that we not fix, not to save money, but because it was not necessary. If you need AC repair, John's your answer. His company was professional, his experience deep and his repairs saved us thousands of dollars. read more

My a/c went out last week during 105 degree heat. John, the owner, came promptly and explained to me that while my unit was at least 40 years old he could repair it. I had a botched job attempt installing my Mastercool Evaporative air cooler. That company wreaked the cooler & I immediately fired them and a brand new unit re-delivered. Some years earlier, I had John from Schirmeister/Vivi, complete some ducting work in my attic. I suddenly remembered him and called on his company again, he soon came out looked at the job and completed the install professionally with his crew. The work they did on my Mastercool was a On-time, friendly courteous, fast, clean , professionally completed job! With Schirmeister/Vivi engineering knowledge, they reinforced the studs & bolts to secure this side draft unit to the side of my house perfectly. A serious perfect no damage job completed! This company is fair priced and really knows what they're doing. I am sorry to say that I have had a terrible experience with this company and I would not recommend them. The technician was frustrating to deal with, to the point that I just wanted him out of my home. He returns to tell me he calculated his hours wrong and wants to charge me for an extra hour of labor. I communicate this lie to his office which sends me an invoice for the corrected amount of labor, but includes a part that was not provided. I call the office to tell them to fix again and resend and they tell me how frustrated they are. I cannot believe they have the arrogance to be frustrated over my insistence that they send a true and correct invoice after the annoying and dissatisfying experience I had. I have read the 4 other reviews here and I wish I had experienced the 5 star service and friendliness that these other reviewers report. I will never use this company again. read more

It all started well, when i purchased a brand new AC/ HEAT system 2 years ago. The install went well, the HVAC works well. The problem started a couple of years later regarding servicing the said HVAC. The way it works is that the company needs to come twice a year to service the system otherwise the warranty will be voided. I have no problems paying a few hundreds dollars a year to keep my warranty, my problem is when the company makes an appointment and is unable to keep it. The first time they canceled on me was at the last minute and due to the "heat wave". Well the reason i have my system serviced is to avoid failure during such a natural event. Nonetheless they decided that servicing my system was not as important as repairing a failed system. Obviously this was a business decision because i am sure that fixing something broken in desperate times is more lucrative than servicing a system before it brakes. The second time they canceled was due to traffic. "TRAFFIC"! I mean we leave in a metropolis of approximately 10 millions people so of course one might encounter congestion on the roads. You would think that a company that has been in business for years might be aware of such city inconvenience and plan accordingly, not calling last minute to inform me know that they will be hours late. Unable to wait for them due to work, sorry but i can't dedicate my entire day waiting for the company to service my house, they simply hang up on me and that was that. I guess now i have to find somebody else to provide the service, hoping that it won't void the warranty with the manufacturer. read more

They were able to come the same day we called for our broken central AC unit. By the next day we had a new unit installed. The owner is very knowledgeable and his Son and Grandson installed the unit. We had our AC Unit installed over 10 years ago. I called for our annual maintenance and was told they will no longer service our Simi Valley area. I've left several messages asking them what kind of filter we have so we can replace it and they have yet to return one call! John and his son agreed to help me on the hottest day of the year (so-far) when my A/C system had an intermittent problem. John immediately diagnosed a faulty capacitor on my high-end (read: expensive parts) Lenox unit and went to his trick to fetch a quality, generic, American-made replacement capacitor.
