After another HVAC company performed a routine service on my AC, the house would not cool. Since I did not trust that company to come back, I called Ed&Ed at the recommendation of a friend. I was so happy that I did. Even though we were in the middle of a heat wave, they scheduled me for the next day and discounted the service fee because I was recommended. Greg, the technician, arrived within the time slot. He did a preliminary check of my system and determined that the other company had overcharged my unit with coolant which is harmful and puts pressure on the components and could have done severe damage. He allowed me to sit there while he worked and explained everything he was doing. He carefully bled the system of the excess coolant and brought the numbers down to the correct range. The AC is working even better that before. I could not be more pleased and would highly recommend E&Ed and especially Greg, the technician. read more

We were having some issues with our heater recently. Ed & Ed Brothers scheduled an appointment for the very next day. The gentleman who came to fix it arrived on time, was courteous, repaired the furnace control board instead of trying to get me to order a new one which would've been a lot more expensive. Unfortunately I can't give 5 stars like so many others. But I write this for all customers to simply be aware and share my experience. Since I don't see any other reviews with details. I can only give them 3 stars, as I won't be using them again since I'm dubious about the pricing and I can't get a straight answer on why I was charged $80 more than what was originally told. There's nothing wrong with our HVAC system and I just requested for someone do an inspection since warmer weather is around the corner. Per Ano, "Our service call fee is $95 just for him to drive out to your place and check the system". That's pretty much all what was done. Below is a cut and paste from the invoice sent to me ------- Service call visit: 06/11/2024 $175.00 - Performed service on package unit - Refrigerant levels are good, adjusted some of the refrigerant lines because they were rubbing against each other, this could've caused a leak to occur. Capacitor is good. Contactor is good for now. Blower motor is good. Compressor is good for now, condenser fan motor is good for now. Connections were adjusted and everything is working for now properly. ------ Ano said the $175 was a discount from $265. But I asked several times what does that $265 entail? Also there was no mention on the invoice of a discount, therefor that leads me to believe that their pricing is very fickle and there's no set pricing. I tried to request in writing - what was included with "check the system" vs what was done for performed service. Since all that was done seemed like a simple checking of the system. Ano refused to text or reply to email but left me a voicemail that Ed or Gregory can provide more detail. Again she won't commit in writing. They have a lot of 5 star reviews and normally I'm eager to write one as well but without details for the pricing I can not. Although George was nice and I would have used him again. But I did tell Ano that I'll be in a meeting until 2:00 and not to send anyone before then. Alas the technician arrived 15 minutes early and was knocking. The Ed brothers helped me finally get setup with the HVAC I have been trying to get for over 20 years. They are consummate professionals, experts in their craft and cost effective. They are the only HVAC company I can or would ever recommend. TLDR: I knew I wanted a specific kind of system, with ductless split units and fully zoned system throughout the house, with air handlers that would fit between existing ceiling studs in each of my rooms. 20 years ago the HVAC installer that tried to install a zone system when I was remodeling completely botched the job, costing me constant maintenance issues and expenses over the years. They installed a poorly designed system I could never get to function properly, and it was expensive to operate. I had over a dozen different companies come out to quote my job, and most either ghosted me, or tried to bait and switch me to another kind of HVAC when I explained what I wanted. I actually found Ed & Ed Bros. from a manufacturer's website, who sold the kind of units I wanted (Mitsubishi). The fact that they were located so close to me with offices in Burbank and Glendale was an extra bonus. When Ed came out he was very understanding of my concerns, and what I wanted. He worked up a quote for a system that covered all my needs, and was considerably less expensive that I was expecting to pay. His company even helped me get an 18 months same as cash deal on most of the cost of the units. The other Ed brother, that runs the production crew came out a few weeks later, and brought a crew of about 8 guys, all professionally dressed and uniformed in branded clothing. They were meticulous in making sure they caused as little impact on me as possible. They laid down protective tarps and other materials to protect my hardwood floors, and kept the dust to a minimum. At the end of each day they went around and made sure everything was cleaned up and vacuumed. It was clear to me, a layman, that these folks all really knew their job, and they delivered well. The job was fully inspected, and when the inspector came out all was approved right off the bat. It was clear this company had worked with the Burbank inspector and had a great working relationship. This job was completed just before the worst heat of the summer, and it delivered flawlessly, keeping me cool as a cucumber all summer long. They also are great in continued support. I had one unit that was making a mechanical sound that didn't seem right. I called and left a message in the evening, and Ed came out the next morning to check it out. He tried a few things with that unit, but, while it cooled perfectly, it was still noisy. So they got a replacement unit in and came out and replaced that one air handler, fixing the problem completely. This was all under warranty, and didn't cost me a dime. It was also done very rapidly, all told, even getting in a replacement unit, in just a couple days. Probably one of the best things I can call out is Ed (who ran the crew) being very OCD about making sure everything was perfect. I usually get called out by my friends for my own OCD, but I have a kindred spirit in Ed. He wanted the job to be perfect...and it was. I also want to point out how helpful the office manager and scheduler were as well. They helped make sure I had all the details I wanted and that the quote info was perfect. They were also very responsive if I had a question, and they called and texted me when the technicians were scheduled to come out. They helped me navigate the applications with the bank that provided the 18 months same as cash funding and kept that on track. I am so glad that I found Ed and Ed Brothers. I have a 20 year old HVAC system that no longer worked. Another company that came highly recommended came and tried to fix it with some sealant and didn't do a thorough inspection. Needless to say to say, it failed within a day. Based on word of mouth, I had Ed and Ed come in and they found that the cooling radiator in the attic was corroded and had multiple leaks where the freon was escaping that were to big for the sealant to fix. They recommended a heat pump which has worked very well over the past year. I have a two zone house and had them come back to do the same solution for my other zone. What I appreciate about Ed and Ed is that they are a family owned company that takes their quality very seriously. They showed up on time. They didn't change the price of their quote. They were very efficient and completed the installation in one day. AND they were very much about customer service. I had hired Ed & Ed Brothers to replace my ancient HVAC system after interviewing a few HVAC companies. Because the unit is so old, the wiring needed upgrading as well. Most of the other companies were either stunned by the complicated project or gave me an astronomical quote bordering insanity. But not for Ed & Ed, they were reasonably priced and did a fantastic job. They are extremely experienced, good problem solvers, and can handle complicated installations. My son had Ed & Ed install an a/c system at his condo and was happy with the results, so he referred them to me. I wanted American Standard (Trane) but Edmond educated me about the benefits of a Mitsubishi heat pump and various types. I met Edmond on a Wednesday, approved the proposal the next morning, and their 5-man crew showed up that morning and began replacing my ducting. It wasn't easy because no access to the low attic. They work very clean, steady, and obviously know what they're doing. Impressive crew and equipment. From time to time, the boss Edmond, would give me important information clearly and succinctly. When they installed the outside fan unit, I was impressed by how secure the unit was. Their attention to detail is exceptional and they do beautiful work. I had decided on a commercial unit. I wanted a clean job, and that's what I got. They were done on Thursday except for a small item. I ran the heat function last night and it worked perfectly. I contacted Ed & Ed for a complete hvac replacement and was hoping to get the job done in 2-3 days. I work from home and was afraid to be distracted from all the noise as well. We booked an appointment for 8am and their team arrived on time and got straight to work. They removed all the old equipment and ducting and replaced everything with the new units and finished the job by 3pm! After the work was done, they cleaned everything up and left without a trace. We had a major AC malfunction back in 2022, when a previous company had injected Leak Seal into our system, to try and "fix" a freon leak, and also replaced the small line to the coil. After weeks of back and forth with several service calls to them, I gave up and called Ed and Ed. Immediately Ed the tech put gauges on the condensor and narrowed in on the issue. The pressure was too high in the due to an obstruction in the line, and after inspecting the coil, it had rusted over due to the constant freezing up of the system, which would not blow cold air. This was a brand new system installed by previous owners, only 5 years old. They disassembled the freon line, and found it was filled with solder on the elbow to the attic, which they used plumbing parts, not AC designated parts. The Condensor was shot due to the strain and stress and hi pressure, as well as the coil that had rusted over. Ed & Ed replaced both units, and after 2 weeks of parts and install problems due to pandemic and summer got our system up and running perfectly. This year, June 2024, they came out to fix a part that had failed in the new condensor, they came quickly and solved it on the spot. I can't recommend them more, they are professional, sharp and know what they are doing. read more

This is a second review, follow up regarding this company (five star review and if possible I would give another five star if allowed to do so for this review). Added an additional head, 9000 BTU, to a Mitsubishi split system, model MXZ-3C30NA2 with an existing 15,000 BTU indoor head which accommodates up to 3x's "heads" or maxium of 30,000 BTU on November 19th 2018. Cost $2,300. Three service techs. Approximately 4 hours. Everything satisfactory with the exception of stucco repair around the condensation PVC pipe (that's the pipe that moisture from "head" drips in and it's carried away outside the residence). They used (inappropriately) several inches depth and width of an elastomeric patching compound (designed thicknesses not to exceed about a 1/4"). Well having used products such as this in the past, I knew that in a million years this was not going to dry. Left it alone for 24 hours and then removed approximately 95% of it. Not a big deal. I replaced it with a little bit of Rapid Set Mortar mix. This product dries hard, dries very fast, blends nicely with existing stucco, paintable, easy to work with and looks professional. As an experiment, I wiped this elastomeric patching compound (see attached photos) onto a piece of cardboard and allowed it to bake in the sunniest spot on my property the next 14 days (December 4th). I checked it regularly during this period of time. It never hardened up on any depth more than about a half an inch (gooey in the middle similar to bathroom silicone freshly out of a tube). Additionally, I added a little spray insulation foam sealant (that's a stuff that expands 3x's or more, hardens up nicely and durable if not exposed to the sun) in the area where the condensation PVC pipe initially exits the wall and runs under the crawl space. The hole drilled to accommodate the PVC pipe, refrigerant line and electrical wiring for "head" is pretty good size and I did not want any critters, termites or unwanted moisture to potentially penetrate the wall (from the crawl space area inside the closet--see attached photos). Other than that, overall a pretty good job and deserving of another five star. Once again, recommend this company. But, I also recommend checking the workmanship too. I'm a little bit of a Hands-On consumer do-it-yourselfer and things like this are relatively easy for me. Mistakes happen and it's good to have some basic understanding of what work is being performed, quality of the work and the basic knowledge of the workers. Knowledge is power. If something's going to be done, it may as well be done right, and hopefully right the first time (see my collection of photos and have a good day). read more

Our AC intake duct was setup in an impractical way. It ended higher up in the attic (instead of extending all the way down to the ceiling of the house), so when we would turn the fan or AC on, the intake of air sucked in and blew out a bunch of dust and even smells from the attic, it was pretty bad. Ed & Ed were able to diagnose the issue quickly and did a clean job to completely isolate the duct and vent from the rest of the attic space. Now we have clean air being blown throughout the house.
