Poke 4/5 - very fresh and flavor is good. One of them was very saucy though so it was a bit too much and I wanted to taste the fish more. They had three options of poke to choose from. Fish dip 4/5 - good but nothing amazing. Would skip this next time Small poke shop inside a convenient store. No indoor seating so we went across the street and ate at the benches.

Stopped by this shop cause I was craving some poke after a long John Muir Woods hike. I got the wasabi poke bowl, a bit on the smaller side, but very good quality fish! I'm usually not a big fan of wasabi, but this was the perfect kick I needed. Definitely felt my sinuses clear after this. My friends got the Shoyu poke, so I was able to try some of that. Definitely would recommend that if you're not a fan of anything spicy!

I'm always greeted with a welcoming smile and great hospitality. The shop is located in the Sausalito Market and has a small beach town vibe where you'll find the locals setting off the perfect laid back atmosphere very unpretentious . They usually have a selection of three pokies (Wasabi, Spicy, and Shoyu). They're all delicious. You can select up two flavors per bowl. You have a choice between brown or white rice cooked to perfection with furikake on top if you like. The Ahi tuna is very fresh with great portion size. Are you ready for it? The best part is it's $14.95 a bowl. You a grab a beverage alcoholic or non as it's a market too. And go sit by the water and enjoy the poke and the view. I highly recommend this place if you're a fan of poke, bargains, and a picturesque view.

    Poke bowl almost gone :)

As always, the spicy tuna with brown rice did not disappoint. Also had the *special* wasabi ahi. Hit the spot. Thank you

3 types of poke offered for the day

Stopped in and was quick and easy to order and pay. It's inside a store and didn't look around the shop but it's clean and cute inside. 3 kinds of poke to choose from or a poke bowl with just the poke and rice. There were a few side offerings as well that looked good but didn't try. We got a small container and able to try all 3 kinds. I appreciate the price by the pound was the same so you could mix and match however much you wanted in the container. Our favorite was the wasabi, then spicy, and last the shoyu poke. All were delicious and fresh.

This poke shop was a fun little hideaway in the back of a convenience store to visit when we were in the area. I was craving poke and brought my boyfriend here to try. The place was empty so it was extremely easy to get our order in. They had three different types available but we ordered a poke bowl with the spicy tuna. Service was quick and incredibly efficient. As for the poke itself, the overall flavor we agreed on was severely lacking. The fish itself tasted incredibly fresh and had a great mouth feel. I felt it needed more salt, soy, or just overall spice because it didn't taste like much even though it was supposed to be spicy. Only ended up here because I had a craving for poke and it was the nearest place that offered poke in the area. Probably would return to try the other flavors and hope they have more flavor

If I lived closer, I'd be here all the time. Tucked in the back of the market is a hidden bonus shop serving up some of the freshest, most flavorful poke I've had in California. I found myself literally craving it today, and I used to live closer so it was worth the extra out of the way stop. There's 20 minute parking in front so grab a bowl and take it over to Swede's Beach for a nice lunch view. At $15, it's not exactly a steal--but it's absolutely worth every bite. You can choose white or brown rice, and they'll top it with furikake if you like. Just a heads-up--they're only open during the day, so be sure to swing by early!

Confused that I was walking into a random market at first but then I saw the beautiful Poke shop in the back! Super empty when I walked in around 11:11 AM. The sweet boy helped me out and catered to my 2 oz of each poke type request to which I had with brown rice, seaweed salad and some spicy garlic edamame. I would definitely say go for shoyu!! I believe shoyu is the one that has the sauce on the side - the other 2 poke flavors were okay..

Fish quality was not the best, but still ate my whole bowl lol. Inside a grocery store

Cute shop inside Sausalito Market feels like back home in Hawaii

Gilligan's Poke is one of the few Bay Area poke shops that's owned and operated by people from Hawaii. I suppose that doesn't guarantee that the poke will be good but as a Hawaii person recently transplanted to Northern California (and who has mostly been afraid to eat "poke" here) I thought I'd open my mind for once and give this spot a shot. It did not disappoint. Gilligan's is tucked into the back of a very average convenience store in a cute residential neighborhood a couple of miles north of the touristy part of Sausalito. They have a few other items in the fridge for sale but mostly just sell three kinds of poke by the pound or in a bowl. I got a bowl with the spicy ahi and a bit of the shoyu limu ahi. The fish was really fresh, high quality, with a perfect texture and not a single string. Seasonings were tasty but not overpowering. I am a spicy ahi guy and enjoyed theirs but I loved the shoyu limu even more. So ono! This will sound petty but the one part of my poke bowl that I didn't enjoy was the rice which was dry and maybe a bit undercooked. Sad face. Next time, I'll plan better, bring a cold pack, stick to the fish, and cook rice at home!

So delicious! A low key hidden gem with fresh poke and great service. Highly recommend if you're in the area. You can grab it for to go and bring it to a nearby park to eat :)

Tucked in the back of a bodega sits this new little poke stand that's delicious. Owner came from Oahu and you can taste it in his food! Best value and meal you could get in Sausalito that frees you up to go sit by the water with it and look at the boats. Especially loved the creamy, spicy yellowfin. 5 stars!!!!

    Limu Ahi on white rice

Came on a Saturday afternoon, few people in line but the line moves quickly. Ordered a poke bowl with white rice and limu ahi. Fish was fresh and delicious, rice was okay. I wish the rice was stickier but that's just my preference. Would return!

Eating on patio is super lovely on a nice day, counter ordering was fast, and staff friendly. Got both flavors of chowder ($12/bowl) and would recommend the white especially for the nuanced taste- herby, creamy? Couldn't place what was different but wasn't your average chowder! For the cod ($24), fish was very tender and came with a hearty helping of potato wedges.

We were hungry and in a rush to get to our boat rental and didn't even notice the specials. We got the red chowder, white chowder, soft shell bao tacos, fish tacos, pasta con vongole, and Louie salad for a group of 5. We took everything to go and had it on the boat. Everything was great especially the white chowder, fish tacos, and soft shell crab bao tacos, except the pasta con vongole was too salty. After looking at the pictures we decided we have to come back on Saturday. On Saturday the wait was 50 minutes, and the line went all the way around the fence. So many of the specials including the whole fish, which we went back for, got taken off of the list while we were waiting...tragic. If you're going on the weekend beware!! We ate in at the restaurant this time as we didn't have a reservation to get to. The outside was pretty hot and there's some seating inside and also in an adjacent room that nobody seemed to notice. We were still able to get 2 specials: rockfish ceviche and dumplings. The dumplings were so good - their homemade chili sauce is sweet and a mild spicy that builds. Rockfish was a bit lime-y, but a delicacy nonetheless. I would definitely come back on a weekday to enjoy the specials again!

Got there around 3pm and was told that a table for two would be about a 30 minute wait, so it was not as bad as we thought it would be, considering that the whole parking lot (which was probably the only downside; it being made of gravel and without distinct parking designations making finding a spot incredible difficult and annoying) was full. The inside vibe was great, with tons of people drinking/eating and having a good time. When we got seated, we ended up ordering just a few oysters and a 3pc fish and chips. The oysters were pretty good and fresh, with a great vinaigrette on the side to pair with them. The fish and chips, however, were the obvious stars of the show. The fish were nice and golden, with a very crisp texture, and more importantly large and generous. The fries were nicely seasoned and plentiful. The fish was really tasty (you can choose the type of fish depending on what they have on hand, and some cost extra between $2-$10. We chose the standard option for the day: Rockfish), easily one of the better fish and chips I have had - just an incredibly simple, but well executed dish. While the tartar sauce was a good pairing, the real standout pairing was Hook Fish's own carrot habanero hot sauce with the tartar sauce and the oyster vinaigrette. I have never had something like a carrot based hot sauce, but it really works by contrasting the spiciness of the habanero with a slightly sweet carrot undertone. Strange, but it gave the classic fish and chips a unique twist that sets it apart from the competition. While eating we saw tons of different dishes fly out the kitchen as well, such as poke burritos, large portions of chips and salsa/guacamole, and fish tacos. After the experience we had that day, we will be forsure making another round back to Hook Fish to try some of their other options. Their fish and chips are a must.

So we wait, and after about 35 min, my dad goes to ask and the hostess says it'll be another 15. We keep an eye on the line and I see a party of 4 walk up talk to the hostess and then they get seated inside. The hostess never told us that indoor seating was an option. My mom, goes over to talk to them and they get us a table inside except we wait another 5 min before a server comes to us. We also had to ask someone if they knew who our server was because no one was around. The sever came over and told us that no one had informed her that she was assigned to this table and that was why we had to wait..... "West coast service" still has yet to touch the southern hospitality we live in.
