Good and fast but confusing at first. We were sent to fill out a form and realized it was not for the bento box we wanted. Cashier and order Girl was not very friendly nor informative Rice could be hotter, brown rice good but extra up charge Salad dressing was watered down I don't know what flavor it was Tempura is thick and greasy, health regret here You order then sit and they call your number They will tip after taxes which is more than 9% so be careful when you check out

Was so yummy. It has a clean, comfortable environment. The cashier was friendly and helpful. Rose green tea was phenomenal. I recommend.

1/2 & 1/2 rice/tortilla chips, scallops, yellowtail...original spicy & Hawaiian sauces

We wanted something quick for lunch and decided on poke. Got to build my bowl and was not disappointed. The gal at the register answered my questions (what was in which sauce) & was friendly as well. Portion was pretty large that I took about 1/2 of mine bowl home. I would definitely return if I was in the area.

Great place for lunch! They give you the option to order online and they always have your order ready ahead of time. The ambiance is quiet, I believe most people order take-out. A great variety of sushi, bento boxes, rice bowls, poke bowls, and boba tea! Pricing is very reasonable!

Very tasty! For about $20 you get a flavorful healthy bowl with custom ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and I would definitely go again. It's nice to eat takeout by the pond across the bridge.

Cold bowl. Lettuce/greens with extra protein!

Quick pick up. Delicious cold bowl! Ordered on line and poof...it's ready & waiting for you!

Salmon and yellowtail poke with hawaiian sauce. All the fixins
Tony W.

Salmon and yellowtail poke with hawaiian sauce on a bed of sushi rice and lettuce. All the fixings, order thru a sheet and a pet, very easy to choose the items you like in your poke bowl. Order came out fast and easy, lots of additional Toppings to pick from, or pick them all! Only thing is fish/protein was on the smaller side, but the additions made up for it in volume

Stopped by for a quick meal to go, and was not disappointed! Poke bowl with tones of ingredients and toppings, and mock chicken (double helping!). And a veggie tempura sushi roll on the side. It was a lot - half the poke bowl was lunch the next day! Always quick, polite service and great food, will be back!

You get half the protein compared to other poke places but lots of toppings without extra charges. Underwhelmed by the poke bowl. The small amount of fish with questionable quality is the reason for this review. The salmon didn't look or taste like salmon. It seems like some other fish dyed orange with no flavor at all. The mixed greens is actually chopped lettuce and while I got wasabi sauce, there wasn't even a hint of wasabi flavor. Everything was just bland. Service was also less than desirable. Many people that ordered after me got served and the staff came off unfriendly.

Chaotic interior of Aloh-o at Northgate.
Theart P.

Getting straight to the point, the food was both just okay and terrible. We placed a to-go order from Aloh-o's Northgate location. The online ordering part went well and was easy to use and the food was nearly ready when we arrived. This was our first time ordering online from Aloh-o, first time having their food actually. They're located in the shopping plaza near Safeway in Terra Linda. When you walk in the door, you're bombarded by a dark, chaotic and messy interior. The whole back section of the restaurant, where I assume you could sit during non-COVID times, was blocked off and full of supplies and random trash looking bags. It wasn't all that pleasant of a place to wait for your order so we waited outside until it was ready. From the items we ordered, only the vegan avocado/cucumber sushi rolls were tolerable. Even those had issues like completely falling apart as you picked them up. What was intolerable was the vegetable tempura. Absolutely the worst I've ever had. So greasy, so very soggy in heavy grease it was uneatable. The menu listed it as "veggie" but what we received was deep-fried sweet potato slices, dripping in grease. Total waste of money. The whole meal was off-putting and left an actual bad taste in our mouths. We were initially excited to find another local place that had a few vegan options but there's no chance we'd go back for another round after this experience.

Fast food quality, minimal service, dirty tables. This place is for those who do not care for quality, but love quantity.

We had been too long in trying this gem. We ordered food to pick up and were delighted. Ordering is…read moreeasy and quick. The restaurant doesn't allow modifications, which was one reason we waited until now to try, since both of us have food allergies. We selected the miso soup (my husband said it was difficult and he liked it, but has had better), the seaweed salad (I loved it-clean and not dripping with dressing), four types of sashimi (all very flavorful and fresh), and two rolls (ocean, and soft shell crab). The soft shell crab was delicious and the ocean was very good. The outside patio will be our next destination. Everyone was very nice and friendly. We're looking forward to trying a meal in the patio soon.

Service by main waiter was great as always. Getting our food was very slow and left some with ordered items and others of us waiting 20+ min (I expect timing differences in sushi restaurants but not to this extent) Sushi (tuna only) and also the Roll with tuna on top did not look presentable, as fish was probably older than it should have been, and/or not handled properly, or a poor section of fish, and should have been used for a different purpose (or discarded), rather than give us something that does not look or taste great. Another roll (Akira) as well was not at the same level as it had been on other visits. We should have complained, but waited so long that we just moved forward with items that were still good. Food should look beautiful or intentional relative what it represents, which normally it does at this restaurant. Experience last night was a 2 star given a couple of the items were still good (salad, salmon, others). Adding 4 stars to this review given the normal 4 to 5 stars based on prior exceptional visits. Hope last night was a one-off and doesn't represent something else going in the restaurant. I will be back and hope this comes back up to higher level.

My husband ordered the Hirame Carpacccio, Salmon lemon roll and bacon wrapped mochi. He claimed the bacon wrapped mochi had the best bites of the night. Yelp really needs to offer zero stars--or negative stars--for experiences like this…read more STAY AWAY. Terrible service, cold pre-made food, questionable seafood freshness, and a staff attitude that ruined a family birthday dinner. We came here for my sister-in-law's birthday during a weekend getaway. Our 5:30 p.m. reservation for party of 5 was easy because the restaurant was empty. We chose to sit outside since the weather was nice. At first, everything seemed fine. The waiter brought menus, dinnerware, cups, and water quickly and took our order in a reasonable amount of time. Then the food came out suspiciously fast. The chawanmushi was lukewarm, which is completely wrong for a steamed egg custard that should be served hot and freshly steamed. That made me wonder how much had been prepared too early and left sitting around. The chicken karaage, lemon salmon, tempura udon, agedashi tofu, sashimi, and nigiri sampler were all forgettable. At best, it was average Japanese food for an area with limited options. Worse, the fish had a noticeable "fishy" taste, which raised serious concerns about freshness or storage. The final item we ordered was Curry Tonkatsu, but regular tonkatsu came out instead. We left it untouched because we wanted to send it back or exchange it. By then, we were almost 40 minutes into dinner, everyone had run out of water, and the waiter still had not checked on us. When we finally saw him after another long disappearance, we asked him to come over and clarify the order. That is where the entire table lost its appetite. When we explained that we had ordered Curry Tonkatsu, the waiter became defensive and insisted, loudly and condescendingly, that he had asked whether we wanted curry and that we had said tonkatsu. My sister-in-law explained she said tonkatsu because the menu offered a choice between tonkatsu and chicken katsu, but he kept scolding her. The worst part? She apologized repeatedly--on her own birthday--while he doubled down and said, "Besides, we already made it." So we were supposed to accept the wrong order because the kitchen had already made it? There was zero ownership, zero hospitality, and zero professionalism. My husband asked if we could at least get a side of curry, and we also asked for water. The waiter left and did not return for another 20 minutes. When he finally came back outside, he served the large table next to us first. By the time he reached us, the pitcher ran out, so only three of five people got water. We had to share what little we received before he returned again. The curry side did not arrive until about half an hour after we asked for it. When it finally came out, it was cold and served in a plain white bowl. Either it had been made far too early and left out, or they are microwaving pre-made food for guests. By then, the meal was already ruined. At that point, we just wanted to pay and leave. Everyone was still hungry, but no one had an appetite after being talked down to, ignored, left without water on a hot summer evening, and made to feel punished for questioning a wrong order. The waiter never checked on us again, so we went inside to pay at the register ourselves. As we left, we passed him, and he did not acknowledge us at all. Maybe this place gets a pass because the area has limited Japanese options, but calling it an izakaya is a joke. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was worse than anything I have experienced at far more ordinary restaurants in the midwest like IOWA or MINNESOTA. I will never come back, and I will warn others. Cold food that tasted pre-made or microwaved, seafood that raised freshness concerns, non-existent service, water treated like a luxury, and a waiter more interested in proving a point than fixing a problem. I am genuinely appalled. Avoid this place.

This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. When we arrived, there were…read moretwo empty tables available, yet we were offered the only table by the door -- the exact spot I had already said we did not want. That should have been the first red flag. After being seated, we were completely ignored. No placemats, no water, no greeting -- nothing. We had to ask just to be acknowledged so we could order, and even then the staff acted like we were an inconvenience. What made it worse was watching them clear two other tables, seat new families there, and fully set those tables up -- all while we were still sitting there with zero service. It was obvious we were not a priority at all. The only moment anyone looked our way was when we finally got up and walked out -- and not a single person attempted to apologize or stop us. That level of indifference says everything. Absolutely unacceptable service. We will never return.
