Salmon belly and spicy scallop nigiri
Evan Curtice L.

Amazing service and quality fish. Loved that it is light on the rice. Overall this is an amazing place and really great sushi for prices that are fair.

Sushi Tri has a wide variety of Japanese food and it's all very tasty! I have had the sushi here as well as the bento box and curry bowl, which were all delicious. I really enjoy the miso soup and salad that comes with the bento box and curry bowl. Got the fried banana with vanilla ice cream for dessert and it was so good (serving is more for sharing though)! Service is polite and attentive but hard to get a hold of sometimes. This was a little frustrating since there were a lot of staff present. The inside was nicely decorated, and there was some low lighting for the ambiance. Overall, this is a solid place to come to for sushi in Novato!

Pork potsticker

I've been here several times for both dine-in and takeout, and I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! The food is consistently great. I usually order the salmon teriyaki bento box with mixed tempura to-go. While bento boxes tend to taste similar everywhere, their miso soup stands out -- it's my favorite and always so flavorful. Last night, I dined in with coworkers and we shared a few appetizers: agedashi tofu, spicy edamame, soft shell crab, and both pork and vegetable potstickers. The agedashi tofu was a surprise hit -- I don't usually go for tofu appetizers, but the sauce was delicious. The spicy edamame was also a first for me, and I loved the bold, tasty sauce. The soft shell crab was good, and while both types of potstickers were solid, I preferred the pork. For my entrée, I tried the seafood ramen, but it was just okay -- I kind of wish I had stuck with my usual bento box. For dessert, I had the fried banana with vanilla ice cream. It was massive! We didn't realize how big it would be -- definitely one to share. Service was friendly and they kept our waters filled, though we did have to flag them down a couple times when we needed something. Overall, still a great experience!

A Great Place to Eat Sushi in Marin County Sushi Tri is a great sushi restaurant in Novato that combines traditional and modern Japanese dishes. We went there for an early dinner over the weekend after seeing positive reviews on Yelp and local sites, especially for their sushi and sashimi. They focus on using fresh ingredients from nearby and international sources. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere. It's a nice place for a quiet dinner or a celebration with friends and family. When we arrived, most tables were filled, and from the conversations I overheard, many diners were locals, which felt like a good sign. Sushi Tri offers a broad menu that includes classic rolls, nigiri, and unique sushi dishes. You'll find something enjoyable if you are an experienced sushi lover or new to Japanese food. We started with Vegetable Gyoza to share, and for the main course, we chose a Bento Box with two items. I picked Beef Teriyaki and Avocado Maki; both were delicious. The beef was tender and juicy, and the miso soup and salad that came with the bento box were also very good. The staff were attentive and did their best to make sure we were happy and getting what we needed.

Chirashi Don
Vega T.

We're not from the area and decided to randomly drop into this place for sushi and it was such a pleasant surprise. We ordered chirashi bowls and an order of uni nigiris. The fish in the chirashi don was fresh, delicious, and plated nicely. It also had a great ratio of rice to fish. The chirashi don also came with a side salad and miso soup. Uni nigiri was also pretty good. Staff was attentive and was quick to order and serve us food. Lighting was a bit dim inside for me but that depends on if you want that ambiance or not. There's a small parking lot for the restaurant.

I came here with a big work group and they were very accommodating! Our table was ready right away for us. They promptly began taking our order and bringing out appetizers. I really liked the vegetarian pot stickers. I ordered ramen for my main dish, which was okay. It needed some seasoning, which they do give you with your order so that is nice. I would say if you have other choices besides the ramen maybe try that. I heard great things from my co-workers who ordered the curry and the bento boxes were a hit! The amount of food that is given is great. For dessert we all ordered the fried banana, which in hindsight could have been shared between a few of us because it is a pretty good amount for one serving. There was some delay in refilling of water but it was understandable because there were so many of us, it's hard to do everything at once. Overall very pleased and would maybe come back to try other dishes considering the depth of the menu.

Another amazing dinner at Sushi Tri... and MORE awesome UNI servings. They never disappoint!!

Nabe udon with ramen soup base
Stephanie W.

Yelp hours may not be accurate so check google. It said it was closed for lunch on Sunday but it was open. I got the nabe udon and the server said they were out of the udon soup base, which was weird because they just opened. I opted for the ramen soup, which is pork based. I didn't think the soup base would make a huge difference but it definitely did change the taste overall. I've had my fair share of nabe udons and I wouldn't get this again. It had pieces of salmon in it, which was interesting. I was surprised to see that it doesn't come with shrimp tempura. Luckily they gave me a seasoning bottle because the broth was bland. The sushi was good though. Service could be better. They never checked up on us during our meal. It wasn't busy during lunch hours so some of the staff were just standing around watching the customers eat which made it awkward. I personally would go to Taki instead for better sushi and vibes.

A Delightful Meal at Matsuyama…read more We were in Novato again today and decided to try another Japanese restaurant in town. This time, it was Matsuyama. The restaurant is a few blocks from the main strip in Novato, but it is easy to find. The place is small but can fit roughly 30-40 people, in my estimate. When we walked in, there was only one other pair of customers, but shortly after, the place filled up quickly. That was a good sign, I thought! My significant other is on a very strict diet, so she had to ask all sorts of questions before she could place her order, but our server, a very nice young man named Jackson, was extremely helpful and patient. He listened carefully, helping her figure out what she should order, and even made some very useful suggestions. The Yellowtail and Salmon Nigiri we ordered to start with were awesome! The fish were fresh and tasty. My partner went with Mixed Sashimi made of Tuna, Salmon, and Yellowtail, while I opted for Vegetable Udon. The Vegetable Udon was delicious and filling. The broth was light, simple, and very tasty. I tried a couple of pieces of Tuna Sashimi, and just like the Salmon and Yellowtail, it was fresh and delicious. Jackson made sure everything was in order at our table and made our first visit to Matsuyama even more pleasant. The restaurant also offers takeout and delivery services, which is great for those who prefer dining at home.

For entrees, I ordered the seafood nigiri, while others at the table had the ramen, beef teriyaki, and salmon teriyaki. Every dish came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It's one of those places where everyone at the table is happy with what they ordered, and the quality has been consistent every time we've visited. Definitely a great stop after a day in wine country.

It is very true that it is difficult to get in this spot during peak hours. A waitlist will have you on point, but you will still have to wait a little bit to get in. Trust me - it's all worth it. The team of hosts and wait staff treats you kindly, even though there's the "stress" of a wait. Once seated in the dimly lit space, everything happens more quickly. Your order is taken and it's not long before you get some plates coming your way. The food. Amazing. Simply delicious. Well thought out, fresh and well presented. I had the black sesame asparagus - the sauce so incredible. Then the sake sashimi was melt in your mouth quality. And a couple well equipped rolls satisfied every desire. Wine by the glass on the list, besides beers and sake. A must-go sushi place for the Bay Area. Along with Sake 107 in Petaluma, Kirala in Berkeley and Ebisu in SF -- this is a place you need to visit.

Unfortunately, they don't take reservations, but if you try eating a little later in the evening to miss the 5-6 pm surge, you'll likely to encounter a shorter wait time for a table. One night we arrived at about 7:30 and were seated right away. A different night we arrived about the same time and had a 20 minute wait which was just enough time to walk around the corner and have a glass of wine at Fradelizio's. We ordered the wagyu beef tataki and the hanger steak skewers and they were both delicious! We followed that up with some Hamachi and Hon Maguro nigiri which melted in our mouths. We finished the evening with a Village roll which burst with flavor! We asked if they could add a shiso leaf to the roll and they happily complied. Ying, one of the owners who fills in when they are shorthand, was our server and she was fabulous! Obviously she is very knowledgeable, but is also very engaging and funny! I can't think of a better place in Marin to grab sushi, and judging by the lines at 5pm when they open, I'm not alone...

Service was immediate and attentive. A very nice young man delivered menus, tea, water and a carafe of water to our table. You have a choice of ordering on a tablet at the table or the server also came by to ask if he could take our order. Ordering on the tablet was super easy and straight forward. We ordered gyoza as an appetizer, one chirashi (sushi rice with fresh fish on top), and three of us ordered the 2-item bento: Teriyaki salmon & tempura Chicken katsu & shio saba Bulgogi & spicy tuna roll The bentos come with a nice miso soup and salad. They do offer a wide variety of rolls as well as an assortment of side dishes and salads. There is a robot that comes around to deliver food to the tables. Our server delivered the soup and salad to us personally. The robot delivered our main meals but our nice server walked to our table and took them from the robot and delivered them to each of us. Again, a very thoughtful touch. Our food was paced well and our server came to replace our carafe of water with a full one without having to ask. I heard the bulgogi was a bit on the sweeter side and the chirashi had a beautiful assortment of seafood. We enjoyed trying a new place and would definitely come back. There is a beautiful huge screen with an ocean channel playing on the far wall. I loved watching all the sea life in their natural habitat. Parking is easy shared with other businesses. This restaurant is easy to find right off of Lakeville.
