I'm a sushi lover and I tried this place years ago and found it overpriced for the quality and serving size. I tried it again yesterday because the spot I prefer was closed and... The service was capable, the atmosphere not bad, and the food was truly just ok. We had: -dumplings - small and pretty bland. -grilled squid - very overcooked and chewy -And two rolls and a soup which were all just ok. On the plus side, the multigrain rice option is nice to have. What a nice restaurant. We wandered into Sushiholic and were pleasantly surprised. The interior is modern. We were seated promptly. Service was excellent. We received a complementary edamame. The green salad was sizable and super fresh with spicy tones from the sprouts. The chicken curry was tasty with succulent chicken nicely cooked veggies. Note spicy isn't very spicy so if you would like it spicy you probably need to ask for extra spicy. The beef sukiyaki was excellent. I have been eating at this warm, welcoming, and friendly family owned Japanese restaurant located in the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center in Novato for many years. The interior décor is very Zen with clustered bamboo that looks like a grove, red painted walls with gold designs, and wall hangings to complete the look and feel. The bento lunches comes with miso soup, salad, white or brown rice, a green salad, a main, and a side. I ordered the rib eye which is tender, and moist, with thick slices of tuna sashimi. I have had their salmon bento, and chicken bento. All cooked to perfection. Their Chirashi bowl is substantial, and the tempura is delicately deep fried and not greasy. There is a great selection of creative rolls, especially the Reign of Fire. The wait staff service is friendly, efficient, and attention without being intrusive. The kitchen staff efficiently and effectively cooks the food so there isn't any a long wait. I bring my friends here for Japanese food, and it's their new favorite. read more

We've been loyal customers of Sushiholic for years. Japanese food is one of our favorite cuisines, and since there aren't many authentic Japanese restaurants in Petaluma, we've been driving all the way to Novato just to eat here. We arrived shortly after 3:00 PM and ordered our usual dishes -- the waitress knows us and already knew what we were going to order. The restaurant was completely empty -- not a single other customer in sight. When the bill came, we were shocked to see we had been charged dinner prices instead of lunch prices. The same dish we always order for $19 was suddenly $27. When I questioned it, they said that 2:30 PM is considered dinner, which is completely unreasonable. We were clearly there in the afternoon, not dinner time, and there was no sign or notice that lunch ended so early. This restaurant may serve Japanese food, but it is not Japanese-owned, and unfortunately, the management doesn't reflect the fairness or hospitality you'd expect from an authentic Japanese restaurant. After years of loyalty, we were overcharged for no reason and treated poorly. I paid because that's what they insisted on, but I will never go back. I own a business myself, and I would never treat loyal customers this way. They've lost us for good -- and honestly, it's not a loss to us. read more

This is my favorite sushi place basically in the world. I don't know if it's just nostalgia from coming here since I was literally a child, but they just never miss. They have the best rolls and the best chirashi bowl I've ever had across the board. I was living in LA before this, and you got half the amount in a chirashi bowl for $60+ dollars. The multigrain rice is a game changer. This is our go-to always. It helps that fro-yo and cookies are across the street for some dessert after! The sushi here is amazing. We always come here after a long day of riding motorcycles at the track on Monday or Tuesday evenings. There is usually no wait or we get seated quickly. I ordered the albacore, and it tasted extremely fishy compared to other sushi restaurants I've been to. The beef udon was also a letdown, it tasted like instant broth from a packet. For the $80 we spent, the quality and service were just not worth it. Very frustrating and I would not recommend this place. read more
