I was in Mill Valley for the first time this past week for a project I was working. My hotel was within walking distance of this huge plaza full of restaurants and I was so hungry after 12 hours of work that I just wanted to find the first place to eat. I love fish, and I went into Pacific Catch, it has a nice atmosphere. When I walked in there were two other guys in front of me with their phone out in their hands and showing they were for pickup. After they got their orders, I was next in line, I smiled and said hi, the host who was this young guy didn't even say hello, but had the audacity to think I am some delivery guy like the other two guys in front of me. That really put me off was. I am an IT engineer; I had just left the site I was working and was wearing my work cargo pants and a Tshirt. I don't know what gave this jerk the impression I was there for a pickup, but I replied, NO I am here to eat and get a table. He then with the same miserable expression, reluctantly walked me to a single table, I asked for a larger like a boot and he replied in a rude tone " No, we need those for a larger crowd". That was not accurate as I saw two others sitting alone at a booth. He then threw the menu on the table and walked off. If I wasn't so tired, exhausted, and hungry, I would have walked out and said something to the manager about this jerk on my way out, but I decided to stay. The server came and even he had a weird attitude; I just ordered the food and it came pretty quickly. The Clam chowder soup was just amazing; so was the Salmon sandwich and the house salad was just more amazing. I travel around the country, I eat at many restaurants, and rarely I felt the entire three-course meal to be this good and it was a home run on everything I eat. This was the best meal of my arrival trip that night. On my way out I went to the other female hostess and I asked if I could speak to her in private. She was nice and polite and I told her about this other rude host and how I was treated by him. I saw him looking at me from behind the bar with two other waiters. The hostess assured me she would address the issue with management about him. As I was leaving, this jerk continued looking at me with a smirk on his face, and I then said "You should really work on how you speak to people". He then started laughing and made some comment that I didn't hear and all I heard was loud laughter from all 3 of the like the 3 stooges. I had no issue with the other two staff, and I didn't understand why they felt it was ok to laugh at a paying customer. It ugly after that, and I did address it with one of the owners the next day on the phone about what happened. I even went back the second night in a row, only because of the food, and I was assured that that host won't be there. In the end, the food is what wins; this place has amazing gourmet food, and regardless of the poor service, I still think its one of the best restaurants I have eat at. This was one of the most upsetting customer service experiences I have ever had. I made a reservation for outdoor seating because I was dining with my mother, who uses a wheelchair, and my 8-year-old child. When we arrived, we were suddenly told that the outdoor tables were "not wheelchair accessible," despite the fact that I had specifically reserved an outdoor table. As I write this review, an outdoor table for four has remained empty directly in front of us for the entire time. We were still refused that table. When I questioned why our reservation could not be honored, the manager, Adriana, responded, "Go ahead and give us a bad review." I found that response dismissive, unprofessional, and completely lacking in empathy. My family and I are Brown, and the way we were treated left me with serious concerns that we were not treated the same as other guests. I cannot know the reason with certainty, but the combination of refusing to honor our outdoor reservation, claiming the outdoor tables were suddenly "not wheelchair accessible," leaving an outdoor table vacant throughout our visit, and the manager's response left me feeling humiliated and unwelcome. I hope Pacific Catch reviews the reservation records, available security footage, and the actions of its staff so that no other family has a similar experience. I attended a conference in Corte Madera, and treated myself to dinner at Pacific Catch the final night. I ordered the fish and chips, with a green salad instead of fries (aka chips), and a gin and tonic. The meal was perfect. The salad was fresh, lightly dressed. The fish was flaky, the batter crispy, the ratio of batter to fish perfect. In addition to fresh tartar sauce they bring out malt vinegar. The coleslaw was tangy and tasty. My only disappointment in the meal was the g-and-t. I expect tonic to be carbonated, and there was zero effervescence in my drink. I didn't send it back, so that's on me. A person at the table across from me ordered the taco trio and those looked scrumptious. Maybe next time... I would definitely go back, and just be more assertive about my cocktail. I absolutely adore Pacific Catch! The sheer range of food and menu choices is amazing. Every dish I've tried has been fresh and incredibly tasty. The sashimi bowl is my absolute favorite. I would be happy to eat that literally every day, but the Korean barbecue plate with ribs and steak is also fantastic. The location is easy to get to, park, and get back on the freeway. If we were to talk about service alone, I would give Pacific Catch 5 stars because everyone here is attentive and super friendly. The taco plate on the other hand is a different story. I got the steak tacos and while the presentation made it look delicious, I bit into it there was a half inch of cabbage and some shredded carrots holding up about 6 pieces of steak to make it look full.... This is one of few places nearby with a menu that isn't all about carbs in one form or another, not as healthy as it might be but if you're trying to lose some travel weight the salads are tasty, filling and low nutrient density. Otherwise the food here isn't particularly interesting, and wouldn't have been worth writing about except that on a recent and particularly cold, wet evening I ordered a bowl of my ultimate comfort food, clam chowder. What arrived was such a major departure from the expected I had nowhere else to air the case, so now here we are. What arrived at the table was essentially a kind of thickened clam broth. Not flour & water library paste thick. but with the right pasta would have been an ersatz linguine alle vongole (less actual clams). Or adding potatoes would make it the soup of the day which I've been noticing more often on menus is termed "potato chowder". (about this last I'd like to take issue: how can a thickened potato soup rightly be called a chowder given that in traditional chowder recipes the essential ingredient is in fact potatoes (no? ask google). I figure to a marketing kind of mind calling this bland goo a chowder lends a certain cachet that mere "soup" lacks, for whatever that'$ worth) Where was I? oh yeah, i should add that neither potatoes nor pasta were in this clam soup, but to avoid a claim that the order didn't meet the "clam" description, it did include clams. However the clams were all in shell, half-open and floating or submerged in the broth. Not what I expected and definitely messy to fish them out. And of course, it's a chowder so where were the potatoes? But the clams were fresh and with enough sourdough to add the necessary carb load I decided on this cold wet night not to make an issue of this. So if you didn't complain, well you must have had no complaint... except I did. The bowl of clam chowder I was served looked nothing like the customer photo posted somewhere on your yelp page. When it's warmer, the outdoor section is a treat. I love the tropical plants sectioning off the area. Happy Hour is my favorite as it gets the pau hana vibes going at a lower cost. The poke is fresh and flavorful. I've also been a fan of the tacos lately. Baja tacos at $7 are pretty good and packed with cod, shrimp, or steak. The corn tortilla is perfectly soft and crispy. The guacapoke at $12 or poke trio at $20 are also favorites and on happy hour. I love to wash it all down with a spicy pacific with tequila instead of vodka. At $9, it's a tasty treat. Shout out to the best and hard working bartenders! Also, a 16oz ice cold bikini blonde at $6 does me solid every time. Great service from Marisol and Carla with a menu that shines Pacific Catch is always a fun spot and this visit was made even better thanks to Marisol and Carla. They were absolutely amazing. The menu is honestly the highlight here, creative, fun, and full of variety. While the food quality does not quite feel as elevated as the menu reads, everything was still delicious and made for a great meal. We ordered the lobster roll, mashed potatoes, Japanese BBQ eggplant, the halibut summer special, and chamomile tea. The eggplant leaned a bit heavy on the sauce but still delivered the flavor I was hoping for. The mashed potatoes were perfectly done, rich and satisfying. The lobster roll was not quite the quality I have had here before but still tasty. My halibut was the standout. So fresh and well prepared, I would definitely order it again. Wanted to update my review after visiting for Happy Hour. My husband and I had a wonderful experience. I got two cod tacos and a cocktail for $23! That's a great deal and the food was delicious. Okay this wasn't a miss but it just wasn't the hit I was expecting. First off, Miller was a great server. Very friendly! The restaurant is decorated well and I love the theme. The food was so so. The California roll was a solid A-. I wish it was served with chopsticks. Manila clam chowder was great! I thought it was a bit much adding in the shells and a nuisance to take out. The elote corn had a little kick that my husband enjoyed. The kimchi rice was the biggest disappointment. First off, my husband is Japanese and knew right away that we were basically eating Mexican style rice as opposed to Asian rice. The rice also was not fried at all. There was a sauce drizzled on top and we added the fried egg for $3 (which was a mistake). My boys enjoyed their chicken strips kids meals. I have been to Pacific catch on prior occasions and never had an experience like this. We ordered two dinners to be delivered to our home, literally five minutes from the restaurant. We were told that the delivery person had picked up the order and was heading our way. It then took about 20 minutes before we finally got the order as the driver took a grand tour around our entire neighborhood. Clearly, he had no clue where he was going despite Google maps directions straight to our house. Food arrived, soggy and cool. My softshell tacos were a dripping mess and because they only use one soft tortilla for each taco, and they turned essentially into a shredded mess. I ordered the black cod which came cold and way too skimpy of a portion, considering the price. My wife ordered one of the bowls and they completely confused the order, despite it being very clear as to what she did order. So, I'm disappointed that the restaurant appears to have lost quality control, and that neither of the dishes were up to par. We have been repeated customers to PC some with better experiences than other, but if this quality continues, we will find alternatives. read more

I came here two weeks ago from visiting the Redwoods. My in-laws love to visit this location when they are shopping. Food - fresh, delicious, healthy, and filling. Service- Nice, but low staffed and a little slow Ambiance- nice, open air, and ocean colored I ordered the Wasabi Ahi Bowl- the wasabi vinaigrette was sour and tart in a good way and it balanced the ahi and avocado. We came to celebrate a birthday and got seated immediately without reservations at 7:30pm on a Friday. We were seated on the patio, which was perfect in the summer evening. Nice casual ambiance, the restaurant was pretty full the entire time we were there. We got the mai tai pitcher for $55, which we felt was worth it to split between the 3 of us. We ordered the sambal sea bass from their summer bites menu and a spicy tuna roll to start. I liked that the sea bass was fried to crispy on the outside but still really soft and tender meat on the inside. I wish the sambal glaze was spicier and that there was more of this sauce on the fish itself. Spicy tuna roll was okay, I felt there could have been more tuna but at least it was spicy enough. For entrees, we got the ahi tuna bowl, yellowtail chimichurri bowl, and the miso black cod. Portions were large but flavors were nothing special. The fish in the ahi bowl could have been fresher, the fish tasted over marinated and the texture was off. I did like the toppings it came with like the seaweed salad and Japanese-style pickled cucumbers and ginger. Yellowtail bowl wasn't very memorable, not bad but not amazing. The miso black cod was cooked really well, but there was an overwhelming amount of green beans on the plate. The part of the meal that was most lacking was the service. We didn't get any water brought to us until halfway through our meal and had to ask multiple times to get silverware for the table. I mentioned to our server that we had a birthday at the table and they gave us a comped brownie sundae, but I thought it was strange they brought it out without a candle or even saying happy birthday at the table. While traveling through the area, I was seriously craving some fresh seafood. This spot came highly recommended by the local hotel staff, and with so many great reviews, it felt like a solid choice. The restaurant itself is pretty vibey with a cute outdoor area and fire pit along with good, clean decor inside. I was seated quickly near the bar, but unfortunately, that's where the service kind of fell apart. I sat through about 2-3 innings of baseball (luckily it was on TV) before anyone came by to take my order. My drink never showed up, and my food actually arrived before it did. The bartender was very apologetic and offered to comp a dessert or another drink, which I appreciated -- but then the check arrived at the end without a mention of it again. Now, onto the food: the crispy fish taco was genuinely delicious -- light, crunchy, and packed with fresh flavor. The Chilean sea bass taco, though, missed the mark for me. It was a bit too fishy and had more heat than I was expecting, which overpowered the fish itself. The fries were also a letdown -- limp and undercooked, not crisp or golden like I was hoping. Overall, this place was just okay. Would I go back? Maybe, if I was nearby and in a pinch -- there's a lot more on the menu that looks promising. Second location i've tried, i am usually towards the Walnut Creek location but was in the area! Always usually a fan of their Wagyu Burger but I thought I'd try a few different things today! Pacific Catch is definitely cheaper than most seafood places but it can get pricey depending on what you opt for. I ordered for takeout, but from what I can see they offer inside and outdoor seating with limited party sizes outdoors. I really enjoyed the food like always, but I felt like the Ahi poke was a little too salty/savory. The calamari was not that crispy but still good. Otherwise, mostly everything else was pretty good! I would recommend this place if you're looking for something mid-range in price but good for food. The portions are big enough for one person or two if sharing small sizes. We've been here many times before, and usually enjoy the meal. We asked to be seated in the fireplace patio area (inside a covered patio), but didn't notice that the patio was filled with a family reunion of sorts, taking up almost all of the other tables. The noise level was deafening, and their young kids were running around yelling, bumping into chairs, and pretty much out of control. Not pleasant. As parents/grandparents, we would not have allowed our kids to run wild like this! It was much better when they all left. Should the staff have stepped in? I don't know. The food was good, not great. My West Coast Salmon Bowl had a small slice of fish, somewhat under-seasoned and slightly overcooked. The salad that came with it was underdressed. I asked the waiter for more dressing and that helped. The Peruvian Patatas Bravas potato appetizer was excellent. Just spicy enough. My wife had the Fish and Chips Mixed Catch platter. I made reservations through OpenTable to secure a spot but found it wasn't necessary. The decor mimics an island-inspired restaurant with hues of blue and nautical designs. There's plenty of seating inside and outside for all party sizes. I thought the restaurant was clean until I spotted a roach by me--gross! I was a bit worried about service from reading previous reviews and found it to be true. Though it wasn't busy, service wasn't attentive and quite slow--on the flip side our food came out fast. The menu includes starters, entrees, sushi, and bowls with a Pacific Rim flare. There were three of us and we each chose to order our entrees. I ordered the Small Asian Chimichurri Salad with Grilled Kanpachi. I recently discovered I enjoy chimichurri and don't often eat kanpachi so chose this dish. The dish was well balanced, creamy and savory, and quite filling for being small. Both of my friends ordered the Crispy Alaska Cod Four Piece. He ate all of his, while the other took his to-go--generous portions. If you're a devotee of seafood and want to support the environment--sustainable seafood is the way to go. They have locations spread all through NorCal and SoCal. Their Corte Madera location is inside the Town Center with ample free parking around.
