Last night I ordered a Al Pasteur macho burrito with prawns. I ordered takeout, when I got there to pick up my order they said that it would be 27 dollars. I said ok because my last 2 orders of macho burritos with prawns were so good to me it was worth it. When I got home and opened the package I had burst prawns no beans no meat it was just terrible, I will never go back to that restaurant again. I will never recommend that place again read more

As we were traveling through the south western US, I remembered comparing the food to this La Hacienda and we always thought La Hacienda's food was better. We commented how lucky we were. Perfect choice to Doordash on game day. Although the wait time was supposed to be 30-50 minutes, surprisingly, it arrived FAST! Loved that besides the food arriving early, everything was hot, delicious, and with just the right amount of heat. We came in towards the end of the night so the place was nearly empty but a couple tables. However, service was great. Super friendly staff and the food itself was tasty. We got the plater, which BTW should be eaten by two, and we also got a taco de lengua. The meat of this taco was soft, right among of ingredients and the meat was seasoned just right. I liked the fact there are Tvs, means you can enjoy watching your favorite soccer game live. Señora Loe Khee loves Mexican food. La Hacienda is a poquito hole in the wall restaurant, which I truly appreciate. The ambiance is family, the music is fiesta and the ladies are wonderful en todo. Could the salsa bowls be bigger, sí, could the food be a tad more consistent, again sí, but when the tv screen is regularly fixed on cage boxing and I'm glued to the sweaty naked bloody boxers I don't even notice and further I don't even care. The portraits on the walls have become mi amigos and I often find my attention drawn back to them, rhapsodic sipping coke, finishing the chips and whispering to Mr Loe Khee Let's get a sundae at A&W next. Just a quick bite for dinner turned into a challenge of the will and body! Ordered a couple of mas macho grande burritos for take out, and a Jamaica drink. One was carne asada, the other vegetarian (not the veggie one!). Both were very heavy and just overflowing on the outside with sauce, salsa and sour cream. Normally this location is great. We order two super burritos, one had no meat when we asked for shrimp and was charged extra. The second one had very old dry and crunchy al pastor. Prices went up but the quality has gone down drastically. read more

This is solid Mexican fare! Quick service, food is piping hot and fresh. I love their chips and salsa (one of the few places where they actually salt the chips perfectly). Stopped by for a late lunch the other day. Hubby ordered the enchilada Chile relleno combo plate and the kiddo and I both ordered the veggie enchiladas (one enchilada with green sauce comes with rice and black beans and a little salad). Perfect amount of food for one person. Everybody enjoyed their food and cleaned up their plates (always a good sign in my book)! read more

The fam here is from Guadalajara Jalisco and they definitely bring the place to Marin. We are fortunate to have them do all the work. Try the michelada or "bloody beer". Solid Mexican food. I generally try to stay away from places that have to label themselves as "authentic," but this place is legit. I am of Mexican heritage, and I come here regularly. The exterior is unsuspecting, and the location in Los Ranchitos / off Merrydale Rd is sorta random and tough to find. I have never had trouble finding parking, though there is a big ditch across the street, so proceed with caution. There is indoor and semi-outdoor (covered) seating. The decorations are cozy, but I wish they didn't have a giant photo of Mexicans drunk on tequila on the wall... makes me cringe every time. The portions are huge, so the prices are reasonable. That said, I can get a quick and cheap meal for less than $10 by ordering a huarache, which is basically an elongated sope (doughy tostada). It's a full meal for me. The carnitas, shredded beef, and al pastor are really good. They also have a few Mexican aguas--horchata (rice water), jamaica (hibiscus) and either pineapple or watermelon. The staff is friendly. They have great Yelp check-in deals. You can order through Yelp/GrubHub, and it's ready quickly. I'll be a regular for awhile. read more

The service was okay, but the food was not so great. I ordered 2 cheese enchiladas with the rice, beans and salad. The cheese inside the enchiladas was still cold and not at all melted. That was a first at a Mexican restaurant. The rice was only warm, but the beans were hot and the sprinkle of cheese was melted on top. My daughter ordered the vegetable enchilada and she said it had very little flavor and not enough vegetables. My son in law had carnitas tacos and he said they were okay. My granddaughter had a child taco plate with a shredded beef taco and there was hardly any meat in it. Dinner for the 4 of us was almost $70! We ordered only water and 1 small child horchata to drink. It was a disappointing food experience and I don't think we will be going back. read more

Just horrible! They charged for extra lemons for our water and charged for a few extra onions for the fajita. The regular portion had so few onions you needed reading glasses to see then. And the Grand Finale was a surcharge on the bill. This hole in the wall with very average small portions actually charged a surcharge. This place is a he biggest rip off in Marin. read more

I was craving tacos so I decided to give this place a try. Their al pastor tacos were $4 per taco. Their tacos are tiny to begin with and they put barely any meat on each. Food was bland and the horchata was watered down. There are much better Mexican restaurants in the area, I would skip this place and go elsewhere. Some of the worst Mexican food there is, the cashier did not even know the menu, the burritos were so horrible I would never come back!!

This is my regular go-to place when I'm in a hurry. I love their chips and salsa! The salsa packs a punch! I also really enjoy the Pollo con chipotle. I usually get it without rice or tortilla but extra veggies and salad. It is absolutely delicious and filling. The sauce is spectacular! It comes piping hot so be careful and as they say, don't touch the plate! read more

We visit this restaurant multiple times a month and have a good time almost every time. The food is delicious and inexpensive, and their Diet Coke on tap seriously tastes better than other places for some reason. My boyfriend always gets the molcajete dish, and I've been getting the nachos lately. Their chicken is so fresh, but I think they stopped making their own chips. I LOVE THEIR GREEN SALSA. I top everything I get with it. Their regular salsa is also delicious but sometimes too spicy for me. The only thing I got and didn't enjoy was the pineapple agua fresca because it was so pulpy and not sweet enough. Could be a personal preference, but something to be aware of. So I have not been back to La Hacienda in quite a while. But I used to like going there cuz their food was really good. I have definitely changed my mind about it. The service was great and they were very friendly. But let's talk about the food. When we got our food our food was cold especially the rice. The meat was all dried up very hard to cut. (We ordered the breaded steak) My friend and I ordered the same thing. The problem was just that we were so hungry we would have eaten anything. Which obviously we did. When we got home that night I was not feeling well but my friend ended up tossing her dinner. When she called the restaurant to let them know they didn't seem too concerned and the owner said that it was not his place that we ate at? So with that being said I know for sure I will not be back. I have been going to La Hacienda so often lately I figured it's time to leave a review. This review is specifically for take out of bean & cheese burritos. They have the best I've found in Marin, nostalgic of a place I would go to in Petaluma as a kid. Many other places I've tried in Marin do not have refried beans that are as good as La Hacienda. The flavor and consistency is perfect. Good ratio of bean to cheese. Perfect sized bean and cheese burrito. I always call in my order 10 minutes before I get there and it's always ready on time. Horchata is also great. My only gripe is the pricing. A bean and cheese burrito is $9. I feel that's fair for a burrito with meat which would be bigger. However I haven't found better in Marin and the location is convenient enough so I will keep paying $9. read more

It's really too bad but they've gone down hill big time. We have gone here for the past 15 years and have loved to eat in, and also getting food to go. We had a guest in town and decided to go there this evening. The waitress seemed irritated that she was having to help us. We had to go find her to ask for the appetizers and waters we had asked for. Even as the meals came out ( which were not as good as they usually are - we always get the same thing...) she was cranky and seemed to be put out. I get that people have a bad day and can't be all smiles all of the time, but in an industry that is all about at least giving the bare minimum of a smile and happy persona to a paying customer, this was ridiculous. I really don't think we will be back...... The two stars are for the food. Service would be a negative star read more
