    Empanadas

This is our first time to try Salvadorean cuisine, and I'm glad we picked this place. Everything tasted fresh, the salad, the shrimp, the meats, even the tortillas. We ordered Churrasco Salvadoreno and Mar Y Tierra for our main courses. The steaks were tender and delicious, and the shrimp was seasoned perfectly. The chicken was pretty standard, but the sausage was perfect. It reminds me a little of Lucban Longganiza, if you're familiar with that. And of course, the dessert was surprisingly good. It's called empanada, but it's probably not the empanadas you are thinking about right now. They're made of plantains, with milk cream inside. It's not very sweet. The plantains do the job. Of course you can dip them in fine sugar if you want a bit more sweetness. All in all, a welcome surprise, and would definitely recommend a stop if you're in the vicinity.

Food is great. Absolutely great. Kisses to the chef. Staff is nice/inviting. Music is good. We attempted to watch World Series game 1 but unfortunately they did not have the channel. Otherwise 10/10.

Amazing! This place gives a run for its money to SolFood! Ceviche was excellent, as was the seafood and steak.

They do have a to-go area where you can place order and pick it up, rather than going into the actual restaurant. My go to dish is the bistec sandwich, paired with their house special hot sauce, it is soooo good!!!! They also sell bottles of their hot sauce and salad dressing which is amazing. I recently tried their plantain burrito and it was also very delicious. My go to drink is their ponche which is super refreshing, especially during their summer months. I always forget to take photos of the food before I eat here because I am so excited to always dig in! I'll aim to come back soon to take photos and update my review. I love that they also have a mill valley location as well as Petaluma!

However,…read morethe description says it includes collard greens, and my bowl had almost no greens in it -- honestly, this one small piece was the only green I could find. I asked the waiter if I could get more greens, but he told me it was "cooked to order" and didn't really offer a solution. He also wasn't very friendly, which made the experience feel disappointing. Good flavor, but the portion didn't match the description, and the service could have been better. For a soup that specifically lists collard greens, I expected more than one small piece.

I've eaten at Colombian restaurants all over Queens NY, Florida, and throughout Colombia, so I have a lot to compare it to. This was, unfortunately, the most disappointing experience we've had. The service made us feel unwelcome from the moment we walked in. The owners barely acknowledged us, and even though they speak Spanish, they spoke English to my Spanish-speaking husband. No one explained the menu or offered any recommendations, which made the experience feel cold and uninviting. As for the food, the bandeja paisa was very disappointing. There was essentially no carne asada, and the chicharrón was almost entirely fat with very little meat. What surprised me the most was the lack of hospitality. In my experience, Colombian restaurants are usually incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff often greet you warmly, offer recommendations, and make you feel appreciated as a customer. I've honestly never had an experience like this at any Colombian restaurant. The atmosphere here felt cold and impersonal, more like eating in a hospital cafeteria than a family-owned Colombian restaurant. I genuinely wanted this restaurant to be great and was excited to support a local Colombian business, but between the unfriendly service, the lack of hospitality, and the disappointing food, we won't be returning.

The Food Churrasco Chapin (3/5): The best thing I've had here. The beef was tender and the beans were good, though the salad was underwhelming and the "hot" sauce had no heat to it. Caldo de Res & Bistec (3/5): Both were decent, standard versions of the dishes--satisfying but not memorable. Enchiladas: These were a bit lower on the scale, specifically the beans (2/5). Service & Amenities Service: The staff is very warm and welcoming, which makes for a nice atmosphere, but they aren't very attentive. You might have to flag someone down if you need something during the meal. Drinks: A big drawback if you're health-conscious--they have no zero-sugar sodas or sparkling water options. Summary: Go for the Churrasco if you're in the neighborhood and want a friendly environment, but don't expect a culinary knockout or fast service.

The staff was super friendly and welcoming. It's like a cute little burger shop but for pupusas. The vibes are great. Clearly a lot of regulars here, stones throw from Marin Civic Center. Side-note -- you can freely roam around inside the civic center which is one of the most mind-bendingly beautiful public buildings, a Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece that inspired a George Lucas for Star Wars. But anyhow, yes, the smell, the happy chatter, the bright windows, lots of little tables, very clean, it just feels right. I don't know Blankita but I can tell she's great. I got three pupusas, cheese and bean, revueltas, and cheese and loroco made with rice flour instead of corn. All were excellent, 5-6 bucks a piece.
