It ugly after that, and I did address it with one of the owners the next day on the phone about what happened. In the end, the food is what wins; this place has amazing gourmet food, and regardless of the poor service, I still think its one of the best restaurants I have eat at. Since it was his birthday weekend, I thought it would be perfect for the four of us to have a celebratory breakfast before our long drive. We walked in, and I couldn't help but exclaim, "Damn! This place is BOUJEEEEE!" (A term I picked up from my millennial coworker, meaning "luxurious in lifestyle.") A tall, dark, intimidating man stood watch at the door, not even greeting us. Maybe we didn't look like we belonged in such an upscale place. Undeterred, we explored each showroom before making our way up the grand staircase to the restaurant. Wow, wow, wow! Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, and a majestic fountain with a Roman centerpiece stood in the middle of the dining room. Lush plants and trees hung everywhere, giving the space an atmosphere that matched the showrooms--stylish, elegant, and sophisticated. We received both the all-day and brunch menus. From the moment we checked in, something felt off. When my wife made the reservation, she requested for a table inside and mentioned that we were celebrating our 22nd anniversary. The host didn't say that an inside table wouldn't be available nor acknowledge our celebration. We were seated at a table by the water. Not what we requested but we didn't want to make a fuss about that. A nearby table had just cleared, and the diners left a mess of food underneath it. A staff member came over and wiped down the tabletop, but left all the scraps, including big chunks of bread scattered under the table. Come on, guys - not that difficult to do a quick sweep. ​Every table around us was served water, but we were completely skipped. We also ordered bread, which a runner practically tossed onto our table as he rushed past--I'm surprised it didn't slide right off the edge of the table. ​When the waiter finally took our drink order, we kept it simple since we aren't big drinkers: a San Pellegrino for my wife and a Sprite for me. The sparkling water arrived quickly, but the Sprite took forever. We had to ask multiple times before we finally gave up; I think the waiter noticed our frustration and brought it over shortly after but didn't apologies the delay. ​The food was just as disappointing. I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium. When it arrived, it was rare at best and smothered in an unfamiliar sauce that tasted like pure salt and oil--it looked an awful lot like chicken gravy. To make matters worse, the potatoes were noticeably burnt. ​My wife ordered the cioppinolito, but it barely contained any seafood at all. Very small pieces of shrimp (there were only 4l) and fish. To top it off, the dish included 1 crab claw and 1 leg in their shells and not pre-cracked, but they never brought out any crackers or seafood tools. How on earth are guests supposed to crack open crab legs without the right utensils? We were too frustrated to even bother asking. She said she will just take them home to eat. ​We aren't weekly regulars, but we've consistently come here twice a year for special occasions and always recommended it to visiting friends.
