Fantastic standard Hawaiian fare. The chicken katsu was fried to perfection - crispy breading on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. The chicken teriyaki was solid as well. The macaroni salad was solid. Everything here was well-prepared and priced reasonably. Service was helpful and kind. The space inside was basic, but that's totally fine. Staff accused us of not paying for our own water and actually came to our table to physically inspect the bottle in front of other diners. Mortifying. A lot of them had this clear gelatinous piece that I don't know what it was. It wasn't chicken nor was it a part of the breading. There was barely any chicken left to eat if we took out those pieces. Dec 23 lunchtime when this happened. I have been supporting this business since our clinic moved here. I have no problem before when there was this young cashier was running the FOH (front of house) until yesterday. This cashier has a sleeky hair, skinny is very rude! First I asked for sauce for my fried fish & shrimp which the other young cashier lady forgot to put on my order, he exclaimed rudely "so you want another sauce" I didn't argue & came back to eat my lunch. After finishing my lunch, I asked if they can fill my water bottle with water again, rudely he said "Hmmmm, you want water ha". This made me really angry how this guy treat customers so I asked him I want to talk to their manager. He refused to give, and I asked him what his name, he said they are not allowed to give their names!!!! This is unprofessional. This place is a great bang for your buck. Considering that it's relatively close to SF, I was shocked at how reasonable the prices were for the HUGE portion size. I ordered the fried shrimp and island white fish combo which came with around 3 breaded shrimp, 2 pieces of breaded fish, 2 scoops of white rice, veggies (steamed cabbage), and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. The food itself is delicious, especially with the sweet Hawaiian sauce they give on the side. I wish the cabbage was a little more exciting (maybe add a Hawaiian touch), but I love cabbage so I ate it! If you're looking for a filling meal before heading to SF, go here! Finally something different in this shopping plaza that seemed empty with so many vacant spaces. Oha Hawaiian BBQ will bring some foot traffic here, not only on the weekends. Ever since they opened, I always see people coming in to eat with their Ohana, or simply pickup their orders. I wish there's a way to order extra sides of macaroni salad online. I'm usually the one who picks up for my family when they know I'm in the area. It can be a one-stop shop with Target, Ross, Massage Envy, pet store, Subway, Starbucks, Panda Express, mani pedi at Nails #1, Brazilian steakhouse, West Marine, etc. There used to be a CVS store, but it closed. This shopping plaza will be thriving again once the vacant store fronts are leased out. There are plenty of chargers for electric cars, and this side of Sausalito aka Marin City is always sunnier. Very comparible to the other Hawaiian BBQ chains. 2. Hawaiian BBQ chicken #1: Generous amounts of chicken. I think it came with 3-4x large pieces. The chicken was perfectly cooked and perfectly marinated. Love that it came with 2 scoops of rice AND macaroni salad. If I could give it less than one star, I would. My co-worker and I ordered food today. I went to pick it up from the Sausalito location. The person behind the counter refused to give it to me because I did not have the order number or my co-workers cell phone number. I had already paid for it with my credit card on line. Learned not to do that again. I am a 72 year old lady with grey hair who works for the National Park Service outside Sausalito. The guy behind the counter was horrible and should not be working there. We have never run into this problem with any of the other businesses in the area or at this shopping center. I called and the guy at the counter told me that he cannot refund my money and I need to call headquarters. There is no number for headquarters. We will NEVER use this place again. Unfriendly to locals and they clearly do not like old ladies. Maybe I have the wrong color of skin. Thansk for the Aloha. If anyone knows how I can contact the business, please let me know. So excited to have a Hawaiian bbq spot in south Marin! Tried Oha this evening and ordered the island fire chicken mini meal and spam musubi. The restaurant is located in the Marin Gateway center which has plenty of parking. The restaurant was pretty empty when I went in. The cashier was friendly and my order was ready in about 5 minutes. Like many Hawaiian restaurants, the food portions are big! The mini meal is definitely a filling dinner portion - not that mini. The island fire chicken was spicy and full of flavor. The Mac salad didn't have as much flavor compared to some of the other macs I've tried, but still tasted good. The musubi was great - make sure to get the extra sauce to dip it in. The seaweed wrapped around the musubi was fresh and not tough to bite through. Overall great food and a good spot for fast & casual takeout. This shopping center seems to have been a challenging spot for other restaurants & businesses in the past and I really hope Oha is here to stay! read more
